Frustration and worry fill your mind. You chase after a figure, you don't quite remember what they look like. But you know that you're angry at them, but also worried. They said something that hurt your feelings but you know that you want to help them, even as they run away from you. You shout at them to stop and they turn towards you.

<Stop? Are you sure you want to stop here>

You look around. You realize you're standing on a power line, somehow balancing perfectly despite being fifty feet over the streets. In a moment of panic you try to balance yourself as the figure walks onto a telephone pole.

<I find balancing on power lines to be a little disquieting. Mind if I stand here?>

You start to lose your balance. You see hundreds of people below you, most of them strangers, some of them familiar. Despite how you're struggling, despite how much danger you're in, no one notices. You drop your bag and it lands on the ground and still no one notices.

<Relax. No one will see. They are as afraid to look up as we are to look down.>

The person begins to take shape. A woman, blond, older than you. She seemed almost normal until you looked at her strange yellow eyes. She takes out a cigarette and somehow it lights up as soon as it touches her mouth. She takes a long drag from it before looking at you with a smile that looked sad, like she was looking at a pitiful person.

<Many children fantasize about being a "hero" when they are young. You don't have to. You are one. Exciting isn't it? You can be the focus of everyone's love and attention just by being yourself. You're not just another little kid who isn't really that important.>

You're starting to remember this person. She appeared to you that one tragic day. When everyone was screaming, running, crying, she appeared to you and gave you a chance. She gave you power to no longer be meek. You have so many questions about what happened that day but somehow, you can't get a word out. Fear gripped your heart here, just as it did that day.

<I don't blame you for being a bit scared. Such drastic shifts in your reality are never easy. Most people never have them. But it doesn't get easier.>

You fall from the power line, falling down to the street. You think this is your end. You hit the concreate, feeling the pavement crack your skull and your blood leave your body.

And then you wake up.

It's 7AM. You're in your dorm room at Bullworth Academy. A prestigious school for wealthy, affluent children. At least that’s how it advertises itself. Truth be told, it's more like a prison school for kids who have caused too much trouble but haven’t become criminal enough to be sent to juvenile detention. Beneath it’s glitz and glamor it’s a school full of cliques, gangs, freaks, and assholes who get away with far too much because of how the school prides itself on its “strength of character”, which just means that the school was a dog-eat-dog world, where you either joined a group to protect yourself or become prey to everyone else. You try to appeal to other teachers and they’d just see you as the problem child.

For better or for worse, you’re just a nobody here. The bottom of the totem pole. But it’s only a matter of time before someone sets their sights on you, or you get caught up in some drama. As you went about your usual morning rituals, getting something to eat, and attending class, you could already see the social environment shift around you. Most students just try their best to ignore the goings on around them to head to class.

You were just attending class one day when everything changed. Students were filing in, waiting for the teacher to arrive. You were at your desk, or otherwise occupying your time alone, when you spotted a familiar scene: a group of girls gathering around a meek young woman and engaging in the usual practice of talking down to her for whatever reason. This time it seems to be some sort of shake down regarding some homework that was due soon. A familiar scene. But this was different. When the girl reached into her back to presumably retrieve the paperwork, she took out something else instead.

“Oh my god she has a gun!”

Everything changed quickly. You heard a gunshot and people screaming, running. But no one was hurt. No one but the girl who took out the gun, who pointed it at her own head. But instead of a gruesome scene of a suicide, what appeared was some sort of monster. Most people didn’t see it, but you did. And because you saw it, the world around you began to change. The students were gone, and the school was changed. It shifted into some sort of strange archaic castle, filled to the brim with grotesque and vulgar torture tools.

You don’t know where you are, but you know you have to get out. It was time to test your resolve.

@Guardian Angel Haruki

Rosalie would find herself in some sort of courtyard, surrounded by strange looking puppets wearing the school uniform. Most of them were the male uniform however, and on a stage were multiple puppets wearing female uniforms, as well as wearing nooses around their necks. She could see what appeared to be a gray elf of all things listing off various crimes and sins about the puppets, condemning them for their arrogance and flaws. The female puppets screamed both insults while also begging for their lives to the crowd, but it seems like the only person who could hear them were Rosalie. After the elf finished his speech, he would simply point at the puppet in question and the floor underneath her would fall out, hanging the female puppet to death.

Looking around there didn’t seem to be any guards or other gray elves, only the executioner and other puppets. Perhaps Rosalie could find a way to escape. But while doing so she heard someone talking to her. A softer, female voice. The words didn’t make sense in her ears but she could hear it clearly in her mind.

“Words you hear may never reach your ears, but the words you speak could still touch one’s heart. The one here so desperately screams, wanting anyone to listen. Will you learn of her despair? Or will you sing her dirge?”

Rosalie could see a violin and bow on the ground near her. It glowed with strange power. On the opposite side was the gate, unguarded. She could possibly run to it and escape this madness. Or you could reach out to the violin, and play a melody to end this execution. To calm the disturb, and disturb the calm.

@Norschtalen

Julia would be in the kitchen, holding onto a plate of food. There were many servants running about, carrying dishes to and fro. Upon closer examination this food wasn’t normal food: it was puppet body parts, hands, shins, sometimes even heads. This would be quite horrific if it was real body parts, but even as puppets it was uncanny. The servants seem to be taking the food to a massive hole in the ground, just tossing the puppet parts into something dark, nasty and hungry. In the kitchen itself was a large man wearing a sack over his head, chopping up puppets into parts. Any that were either working too slow or just unlucky ended up taking a cleaver to the chest before being put onto the chopping block.

There was a door behind the butcher and a key on his belt, presumably needed to open the door. The only other way out would be through the hole, and who knows what was in there. These puppets were quiet, meek, and didn’t even flinch when one of their own was killed right in front of them. If Julia moved quickly and did what everyone else did, maybe she could avoid the butcher’s wrath. But considering how indiscriminate his slaughter was, even if she did that she might not be safe.

“Is this what justice is to you? Play your role well and hope that the tyrants above don’t direct their senseless wrath towards you? There is no justice here! There is only the weak and the strong. If you want righteousness, you must take it!”

Hanging on the wall nearby was a small crossbow and a pouch of crossbow bolts. It was, however, in plain sight of the butcher who’s starting to look around to find his next victim. If you don’t immediately walk towards him and start serving up puppet parts he might single you out as his next meal. Or maybe you could make a run for that bowgun, and bring the battle to the butcher instead.

@Vertigo

Junwoo would find himself deep inside of a torture chamber, locked behind some iron bars. He fortunately wasn’t bound to any chains, but from where he was it looked like he was trapped. What he might’ve not immediately noticed however was that there were folks screaming for help, but when he looked at them what he saw wasn’t human. They appeared to be puppets, wearing the same school uniform as him but all with the same faces drawn crudely with makeup. They were both screaming for help and hurling insults at him, calling him spoiled and useless, yet wanted his help getting out of here. Suddenly something big and dark would open the cages, taking a puppet off to god-knows where.

The cage door was locked, but from a close examination it would look like it was secured with a cheap school lock. Looking around there was a loose stone that could easily be used to smash the lock and escape before that darkness could take him. But locked in another cell was, strangely enough, not a puppet. Instead it was a large sword stuck in the ground, and sitting on the pommel was a helmet. Even from his cell Junwoo could hear a voice speaking into his head coming from the sword.

“Once upon a time you had everything. Now you are nothing. Abandoned by kin, you have fallen from grace, forgotten, less than the dirt beneath your feet. They want to believe you are destined for failure. But a man can change his stars!”

If Junwoo tries to break open this lock, no doubt the darkness that was grabbing the other prisoners would spot him and catch him. He could try and make a run for it, see if he can escape this place alone. But there was no telling what trials lie ahead of him. How many problems could he really solve just by running? If trouble was going to find him regardless, Junwoo best have a plan to deal with it head on.

@Dark Cloud

Maxwell was perhaps in the worst place he could ever imagine: a social gathering. He was in some sort of ballroom full of puppets in fancy dresses, dancing, singing, gossiping. And they were so annoying too. Anytime they came across Maxwell they would bombard him with inane questions about his life and heritage, or stupid questions about Canada. And just as quickly as they came they would also whisper nasty rumors about him behind his back, calling him an incel and loser, and those were just some of the nicer things they had to say about him. They pushed him around, spilled drinks on him, and overall seemed to just be treating him as some sort of joke.

Maybe it was time to exit stage left. This obviously wasn’t his scene, and last time Maxwell checked he was supposed to be at school, not some prom. But the only exit out of here was behind a bunch of pretentious looking puppets who, weirdly enough, were armed with swords. If Maxwell tries to mess with them he’ll no doubt have to deal with not only their sharp barbs but also some pointy metal blades. It almost looked like Maxwell was just going to have to deal with being stuck here when he spots a bag on a dining table. It was a small pouch and next to it was a dagger. When he lays his eyes on it, a voice could be heard from it entering his mind.

“Tired of being pushed around? Want to stand on your own two feet, not where others tell you to be? Want to just explode? Don’t let others dictate what you should do, what you should be! Show them their place!”

Another puppet bumps into you, spilling their drink onto you. They immediately get into your face and start telling you off as if you had intentionally knocked their drink into them, threatening you with harm and trying to intimidate you. They were bigger than you sure, but so are most cows and this puppet looked more like someone’s baby toy than a real person. But right now they were in your face, trying to get you to apologize. Maybe if you grovel they’ll leave you alone. Or maybe you can grab that bag and the knife, and show them who’s boss.

Rosalie

That Dream....

Rosalie couldn't help but wonder who she was chasing, and why. The situation felt like something out of Alice in Wonderland...

The person stopped and spoke, only to reveal that Rosalie was now balancing on power lines, high above the crowds and pavement! Fear immediately gripped her heart tightly as she did her best to balance. At first she found balance in a simple stance for dancing ballet, and she was able to focus her attention on the mysterious figure.

This White Rabbit she was chasing...turned out to be a blonde haired older woman with strange yellow eyes!

Rosalie comprehended what the woman said, but she was still confused. Naturally, dreams can be confusing, Rosalie knew this, but this was probably the most confusing one she's had!

Then...Rosalie remembered this woman...somehow. But...Wait...what?!

She had so many questions she wanted to ask, but then she mentioned the fear, and then...Rosalie fell!

Rosalie woke up with a scream upon feeling the pavement, one of her legs jerking as though she had just missed a step on the stairs. Feeling herself die upon contact onto that harsh ground! That sensation shook Rosalie...

She knew she wasn't supposed to be able to feel anything in dreams, but that felt so real...

As though to take her attention off of the dream, she shakily looked at the clock, and after quickly reading the time, she panicked a bit and moved quickly to get ready for school.

She normally got up earlier than 7 AM. A total of one hour early! She quickly ate breakfast, and got dressed in her uniform. She neglected to put on make up and jewelry as usual, because the last time she put such things on, with an outfit she thought she looked cute in, the bullying worsened.

She wanted to just blend in.

She looked in the mirror and took a few breaths giving herself the usual affirmations,

"You can do this. You can make it through another day.
Maybe you'll finally make friends with someone. Hopefully.
Just remember to pay attention, enunciate when you speak, and words have meaning...
"

After that and a quick couple of hits to her face with both of her hands, she hurried out of the door with belongings in hand, and bicycle ready to go!

She made it to class early, much to her relief! While sitting in class, she dutifully wrote the notes that were on the board. She knew that she was going to need them, because previous instances of trying to take notes during the lecture have proven that just listening wasn't enough. She wasn't going to be able to comprehend something the teacher said, and her notes will fall behind his speaking.

She needed to be ready to write as quickly as possible and be mentally ready to understand every single word the teacher would say.

When she finished writing down the notes that were written on the board, she turned her attention to see...a bunch of girls ganging up on a meek girl.

That was a familiar sight.

Rosalie wanted to stand up and help that girl. But...her own memories stopped her. If she intervened, then those bullies would then target her, and she didn't want to cause her parents to feel like they have to move and change schools again...

It was her fault after all...

"I'm so sorry. I can't help you. I'm not strong enough..." Not to mention, the teachers probably wouldn't listen to Rosalie if she said anything. Rosalie thought as she turned her attention back to her notes.

Thankfully, there are some words that are incredibly easy to hear and understand...especially if understanding that words means the difference between living and dying.

“Oh my god she has a gun!”

Upon hearing the word 'gun', Rosalie whipped her head towards the voice to see the meek girl take out the called out weapon. Rosalie jumped out of her seat, turned towards the scene, not realizing what was happening! She couldn't move after that, she felt herself freeze in fear.

The meek woman fired, and instead of her dying, Rosalie thought she saw a monster...!

The next thing Rosalie knew...she was in a courtyard? She looked around saw that everyone around her were...puppets?!

Rosalie felt a chill down her spine as she took in the scene, and she couldn't help but start to ask, "Wha-What is this?!" She then turned her attention to the stage.

Her eyes widened as she listened to the grey elf speak of the female puppets' sins and crimes, and how they screamed insults and cried and begged for their lives. Their cries fell on deaf ears, except for hers...and she gasped as she watched one fall and die on the noose. Her hands had covered her mouth to stifle any more sounds she could make.

Were those female puppets...the girls who were bullying that girl who shot herself earlier?!

She had to get out of here...!

She desperately looked around and found the unguarded exit. Her cowardly heart wanted to just run, but she needed to find that exit first.

Then she heard the voice...and she comprehended them immediately!

She stayed still, albeit shaking, but listened. When the voice finished, her eyes landed on the violin. She looked between the instrument and the unguarded exit.

Thoughts sped through her mind, until she finally spoke, thinking the voice would answer...

"Why not both...?"

She then walked slowly to the violin, scared, cautious, but also curious and in awe of whatever power this violin had, and she remembered a quote,

"Music expresses that which cannot be put into words and that which cannot remain silent..."

After saying the quote aloud, she stood in front of the violin and picked it up. Various thoughts ran through her head,

"It's been so long since I played. I probably won't sound so good if I tried to play now,"
"I want to understand the people around me, so I can make friends...! So what am I doing wrong?"

"I need to get out of here...! This place is dangerous, what if I'm next to hang?!"
"What if I'm not the only one in this weird place? Maybe if there are others, playing this can lead them to me and out of here..."

All of the cacophonous thoughts all united into one thought, one decision:

"These executions have to stop...!"

She is scared. There is no denying that, but she raised the violin into position and readied herself to play...

Julia Starlet

What a weird dream to have. Julia had busted her head on the ground before, back when she was trying to learn how to skateboard and didn't wear a helmet, so she was pretty sure she could handle falling on her head from twenty stories up. Not that she wanted to test that theory out. She just shook the thought off as a nightmare and got out of bed. This was a bit earlier than she usually wakes up but now she was too restless to sleep so she figured she ought to just get an early start for today.

First, bathroom! Since Julia woke up early she got first claim at the showers, which means she doesn't have to use the bad shower that doesn't have hot water. After brushing up she went back to her dorm to eat some breakfast. Toast, a banana, and some milk. She was tempted to get the yogurt too, but she knew that her diet wouldn't allow it. Regardless of how "healthy" it claims to be, it's just extra calories pretending to be fruit. After she ate breakfast she changed into her uniform and headed out to class.

Walking to class, Julia had to do the hardest thing today: ignore people. She may have only attended Bullworth for a short while, but she could smell the corruption here. It was a real dog-eat-dog world here, and Julia's instincts where screaming at her to jump in and start taking charge of things. But she remembers the word of her parents who begged her and made her swear that she won't go starting anymore fights. At the very least, not to butt into anyone's business but her own. And for better or for worse, no one has gone out of their way to mess with Julia yet. Maybe it was because she was a new kid so people were still sizing her up. Still that didn't stop them from bullying and fighting others. Even if they keep it out of sight, Julia can still hear their words and see the aftermath. It hurt her worse than any fist could.

Eventually Julia made it to class and sat down, thinking about her commute. Surely she ought to at least try to make some friends here, that would give her the pretense of butting into everyone's business. After all, what sort of friend would she be if she just ignored her friends in trouble? Though admittedly, it was a bit awkward here. She didn't know anyone at Bullworth and wasn't really sure what the local culture was like. She came from a pretty small town out in the boonies, and while she doesn't consider herself a country hick, these Bullworth kids seemed like rich city folk. She hoped they wouldn't be put off by her mannerisms.

But to hell with politeness. Class barely started and Julia could hear some girls picking on someone. Typical alpha bitch behavior. Julia didn't know these girls nor the victim they were picking on, but she was probably one of her classmates so Julia felt that was enough justification to get involved. So the got out of her seat and was walking towards the crowd when she saw something terrifying. The girl pulled out a gun! Julia has seen guns before, heck she's shot a few pistols and rifles before, but never at anyone, just paper targets. Seeing this seemingly meek girl just pull a gun out of nowhere made Julia freeze up.

And that's when things got really weird.

Julia has no idea how it happened, but somehow she was in a kitchen with a bunch of creepy puppets throwing puppet parts into a pit. For a moment Julia thought she had died and was sent to some sort of hell until one of the puppets bumped into her, giving her a bit of a shock. "What the fuck? I'm alive but... Where am I? Where's the school? Where's everyone else?" Julia was just confused and a bit scared. She was just walking around trying to get her bearings when she saw some sort of butcher kill one of the puppets for no reason! Now, she had no idea where she was at or why she was even hear, but even she knew that wasn't right. These puppets seemed to be servants and just randomly butchering one seemed wrong. Not to mention, if that's what this butcher does to hired help, what would he do to Julia?

There didn't seem to be any way out that Julia could see. It's not like she could fly and there was no way she was going to jump into that pit. She looked around for a way out and spotted the door, but it was locked. She guessed that butcher had a key, but even as confident as she was with her skills, there's no way that she's going to be able to fight him barehanded. She looked around for some sort of weapon she might be able to use when she spotted a gun, or rather a crossbow. She's never used one of those before but when she looked at it there was a voice in her head!

“Is this what justice is to you? Play your role well and hope that the tyrants above don’t direct their senseless wrath towards you? There is no justice here! There is only the weak and the strong. If you want righteousness, you must take it!”

"What the fuck was that? Did that gun just talk to me?" Julia was very confused, a bit scared, but most of all furious. First she had to witness kids picking on each other on her way to school, than those girls pick on that other kid to the point she had to bring a gun to school, and now she was in some sort of dreamwork with a mad butcher killing random puppets? She knows her parents want her to stay out of trouble, but the way she sees it, trouble found her first. And Julia wasn't going to just stand idly by and let herself get pushed around anymore!

Julia made a dash for the crossbow. She didn't really know how to use it but figured that she ought to grab a crossbow bolt and load it. It didn't look very big so she guessed that she could use her hand for it. It was no pistol, but it was better than going unarmed. She would grab the weapon, load a bolt, and take aim at the butcher. She had no idea if he was a real person, some sort of monster, or if this was all a dream. But he was standing between her and the door, so he was either going to need to stand down or she was going to put a bolt between his eyes. "Oi you! Drop your knife, give me your keys, and stay in the corner! And stop cutting up these puppets!"

Like a drumbeat thump, thum, thumping in his chest as the discordant sound of music, laughter and muffled conversation became almost muted. Max ran a hand through his hair, his shirt and face wet with spilled drink. They asked him stupid questions, they called him names, they said all kinds of things about him! Bah, he was going to leave why he even came here was not important this was not his crowd that being hanging out with people at all. Max pushed past the puppets, past the jeering little fucking assholes to find his way out was blocked by some uppity looking puppets.

So much for that, what was the point of confrontation anyways they looked like they had brought some weapons, weapons to school? He heard about kids bringing guns into school but swords? Max looked around, catching the glint of a knife on the table next to him and a bag.

“Tired of being pushed around? Want to stand on your own two feet, not where others tell you to be? Want to just explode? Don’t let others dictate what you should do, what you should be! Show them their place!”

What was-Max winced as a puppet bumped into him, stepping back into the table with the knife and bag upon it, the puppet spilled their drink on him soaking his pants getting in his his face and coming him 'I..I..' his hands wrapped around the handle of the knife in the bag, before his vision was clear but the sides of his sight were becoming clouded, slowly tinged red. Max's heart was beating to the music now, his blood felt like it were on fire about to burst 'I HAVE HAD IT' in that moment all his rage and anger reached its fever pitch til all he could see was red, he pushed the puppet before stabbing it once then again and again with the knife all his anger put behind each time he plunged the knife into the puppets chest.

"I'll show you all!" Max screamed, letting the fire in his heart burn brighter than the sun and rage twice as hot "You hear me ALL OF YOU!"

"My my my... Such a small child, taking up my bow and blade. But it is always the young that never get heard. If no one will listen to your words, then let them hear your music! I am thou, thou art I. Let us create a symphony that will never be forgotten!"

As Rosalie picked up the instrument, she could fill her body fill with some sort of strange energy. It wasn't bad though. If anything, it empowered her, filling her with a sort of strength and confidence that suddenly made this very frightening situation seem far less dangerous than it should be. Just as well, Rosalie's clothes change from her school uniform to some sort of adventurous looking outfit. It looked a bit rustic, but in a fantasy way. Music began to pour out from Rosalie and she could feel ideas and inspiration flowing through her mind and through her hands. All the while, a strange puppet figure was floating around her. But instead of these faceless, uncanny puppets, this one seemed far more human. Rosalie could feel a protective energy from this one. And in her mind, she knew the name of this being: Reminiscence.

The other puppets began to scatter, fearful for their lives. But the elven executioner simply seemed miffed that Rosalie had dared step out of line, showing him up of all people! He draws a longsword from his belt and does a flip off the stage, brandishing his weapon menacingly at Rosalie. He was about thirty feet away from her when the spirit that was protecting Rosalie. She could fill her mind and body synchronize with the spirit, granting her knowledge and the ability to fight!

"You know the rules of nature! Only the strongest survive. If you wish to stop the vile darkness that haunts this place, you must be willing to stand up and fight it! Let us both strike back against this evil together. I am thou, thou art I. Let no wickedness escape our sight!"

Grabbing the hand crossbow, Julia can fill her courage grow even more so than usual. Knowledge of how to fight with this weapon, as well as use other esoteric abilities here, begin to fill her mind. Suddenly her school uniform changed into a suit of armor, and other weapons and equipment appeared on her body as well. It seemed like the very shadows began to bend around Julia and began to cover her in darkness, and yet despite this she had no issues seeing in this darkness despite her normal eyes. But what was even more of a surprise was the sight of another figure here. A hulking beast woman, who seemed to somehow balance herself perfectly still on a chandelier on the ceiling. But despite her intimidating stature, Julia would know this woman was a friend and here to help her: Komainu!

The butcher however did not care for Julia's sudden demands. He slashed his massive blade through the puppets, and they began to scatter to safety. He knocked over the table with his foot and began to rampage, ready to fight! Julia was about 30ft away from the butcher, but all of these puppets crowding around her would make it difficult for her to move. But just as well, the Butcher can't get to you without getting through the crowd, so maybe she can use them to her advantage. Regardless there was only one way forward, and it was to defeat this enemy!

"Don't ever forget this feeling. When they keep knocking you down again and again, trying to keep you down, remember this passion and don't ever let the flame die out. Time to show them that you're done being tread on! I am thou, thou art I. Let's show the world just what we can do!"

The burning feeling in Maxwell's back and hand began to spread throughout his body, making him burst into flames. But instead of feeling any pain or agony, this explosion was more like a sweet release. Raw power emanated from his body like a roaring flame, causing the puppets to flee from him and set random furniture on fire. Walking out from one of the burning rubble was a humanoid figure made of flame. he puts his hand on your shoulder and you could feel your clothes burn off and replaced by something a bit more rugged, yet flashy. Like some sort of dark mage. This person melts into the air around you, wreathing your body in a mirage of haze and smoke. Despite only knowing this person for a minute, you recognize his name: Impetus.

Despite most of the puppets cowering against the walls in fear, the puppets with the sword didn't seem to take you very seriously. That'll be their mistake. Four puppets approached Maxwell with rapiers drawn, taking on a sort of pompous duelist stance. Four against one wasn't in Maxwell's favor, but her could feel his anger take shape in his mind. Fury that can shape his emotions into power, into a weapon that can be used against his enemies. These puppets may soon realize that just because they outnumber him doesn't mean they can outgun him!

Rosalie stands 30ft away from the executioner, who has his sword drawn. Instinctively she could feel the energy flow through her body, begging to be unleashed. If she worried about matching this mysterious assailant blade-to-blade, she would also find that she had a rapier of her own on her hip. The puppets here seemed to fear the executioner, but she may have an unexpected ally among the crowd: those puppets that were about to be executed seem to be looking at Rosalie, and despite lacking any facial features they seemed more anticipating for some sort of signal from her, rather than targeting her for further vitriol. Perhaps if she could inspire them, they could in some way aid her?

Julia would get the jump on the butcher, getting a bead on him as he comes out swinging. It was obvious that he wasn't the least bit interested in negotiating and wouldn't hesitate to cut through the other puppets just to get to her. Just as well the puppets were all trying to save themselves, caring nothing for Julia in order to save their own skins, even if it was ultimately only making things worse for themselves by blocking each other from escaping. While Julia would no doubt have to deal with the butcher herself, she might be able to take advantage of the crowd blocking a path out if she was willing to test her agility jumping off the tables and counters, allowing her some space to move while putting the crowd between her and the butcher. Whatever she does she'll need to do it quick, as the madman was within 20ft of her and could easily reach her from her current position.

Mercifully, the armed aristocrats were fairly far away from Maxwell, but they closed the distance quickly. Two of them moved forward, their blades drawn as they got close enough to attack him, but he may be able to stop them before they get to hurt him! The other two however stayed a bit behind, not engaging directly but taking on a defensive stance as if waiting to see what Maxwell will do. This ball room was fairly big, but there was plenty of obstacles around that Maxwell could use to try and put some space between him and the nobles. For starters the dinning table was quite large so if he could go under, over, or around it, he could use it to prevent the nobles from being able to engage him directly. However what he might also notice was the fancy chandeliers thirty feet above his head: while they hung by chains, maybe if he had the right spell he could easily melt said chains and cause them to fall onto the nobles below, hitting at least two of them. It was a risky move but one that could easily change the fight more in his favor.

Rosalie

Rosalie didn't expect anything to happen. If anything, she thought she would be just playing the violin and nothing would happen.

But...the moment she picked up the violin and held it in position, she felt that energy and heard the voice. She suddenly didn't feel weak or stupid anymore. Ideas were flooding into her mind, both for stories and for music! With that newfound confidence, her violin grew from quiet to a loud and proud melody. Was this what courage felt like? Rosalie couldn't help but wonder, smile, and laugh.

She found herself dancing a bit while her uniform changed to that of an adventurer's outfit, like she was a character in a magical girl anime. The adventurer's outfit was one of peak fashion without sacrificing the practicality needed for adventures in both urban areas and the wilderness.

That was when the executioner flipped off the stage with a menacing longsword in hand. Rosalie didn't stop playing though. Instead she grinned, and she commented upon seeing the menacing gesture,

"Well then! No need to wait for a Maestro! Let's go, Reminiscence!"

It was so strange, she knew what to do! The knowledge of how to handle herself in combat came to naturally!

She looked to the puppets who were going to be hanged, and to the puppets who feared the executioner but may have lingered. She called out to them, "Why are we letting him decide who is guilty or innocent? Why are we letting him decide who lives or dies?! That's not his choice! The answers to those questions are up to you!". When she speaks the word 'You', she directs her earnest gaze at the one of the more meek or smaller puppets among those who were about to be executed. A small bubble appears around that puppet and orbits around her.

After she gave the call, her music transitioned into a different melody. As she played, she released the energy that had been building up! That energy took the form of blue fire leaping out from the violin and bow, with small flickers resembling pixies. The pixies and blue flames fly to the executioner, not to burn him but to set him alight.

As this happens, Rosalie notices a marionette string wind itself around the executioner's ankle and her hand.

She knew what to do: Should he move, she would yank on the string and throw him off balance.

Other than that, she quickly moved 30 feet back so as to not be caught by the sword.

Nothing could stay the burning inferno that raged in his chest, rising and falling rapidly growing hotter with each thump-thump of Max's heart as he clenched his fists and gritted his teeth when he opened his eyes everything clicked, a heat began to rise around him flames beginning to crackle in the palms of his hands with hateful eyes glowing like charcoal as he viewed the puppets with hatred. Kicking over tables, getting into a better position? No, he wasn't gonna fucking cower behind anything and wait for these things to get him, he stood his ground and opened his mouth sneering the words to a spell that came to him like he had always known it deep down, the earth began to temple beneath the feet of the two puppets before him hairline cracks forming in the wooden gym floor...

"I HATE THIS PLACE, I HATE ALL OF YOU, BURN YOU FUCKERS. BURN!"

Ground bursting before them, the gym rocked as the thunderous roar of an explosion shook the ground breaking open the earth in a blaze of magmatic flame, as the spell cast Max's entire body became wreathed in flames that exploded outwards all around him towards the puppets "DIE" he roared, the flames and everything around him and the point of the explosion was on fire, and soon the whole gym would be burning. The thought twisted the pale faced boys lips into a cruel grin, just thinking about it.

It would be a lie to say that Julia wasn't scared. She's been in fights before sure, and they were intense, but usually there was a certain understanding that these fights were never meant to kill. But this guy wasn't swinging that knife around like he was just playing. And while Julia doesn't know if this is just some messed up dream or not, she still needed to fight. And fight she will! With only a bit of hesitation and uncertainty, she pulled the trigger on the crossbow. Weirdly enough she seem to have a knack for this, and her hands just sort of moved on their own as she fired off as many bolts as she could at the man. But she knew that she needed to get away from him: She didn't want to be anywhere near him or that big knife of his.

The crowd was too thick to move though, so she tried to jump onto a table and move over the crowds, though this was something she was certainly not used to. Whatever, as long as she could put some distance between her and the butcher, she doesn't care if it's not too graceful. Maybe she can find somewhere to hide and ambush him again. It's obvious that in a straight fight this guy would clock her number, so she won't fight him fairly.

The executioner was coming at Rosalie with murderous intent. She blasted him with her spell, causing him to duck low to dodge the magic burst.(Dex Save 16) It would have worked as well, had she not had prepared another spell precisely to foil him! (Dex Save 11) This causes him to stumble right onto the path of the spell, blasting him and others around him with magic dust! While this doesn't really do him any harm, it does provide enough of a distraction that it would allow others an opportunity to harm him. But who here would possible try to do that?

Why, no other than those who are likewise stuck in this predicament as Rosalie of course. While most of the bound puppets were still hurling curses and insults at both Rosalie and the Executioner, one was inspired by her words and found the strength to break their bonds! (Strength Check 20). Once freed she rushed towards the executioner and grappled with him, initially having some difficulty but thanks to Rosalie's magic she was able to get the upper hand and wretch the sword out of his grasp! (Athletics Check to Disarm 3/20, Opposed Strength Check 8)

However the executioner wasn't defenseless yet. He pulled out a dagger hidden from his boot, and stabs the puppet! (Dagger Attack 13, Damage 5) It was hard to tell if this was a deadly blow or not due to the Puppet's inorganic body, but it seemed to heave as if it was hurt. Still the puppet was standing long enough to fight, distracting the executioner from being able to focus on Rosalie for now. But she must hurry, before the grey elf could finish off the puppet and return his attention to her!

A few of Julia's bolts flew at the butcher, who raised his massive blade to deflect the projectiles. Of her bolts, only two struck, the second one splitting against the butcher's blade. One bolt sliced through his shoulder, a painful wound, while another landed in his belly. Despite the injuries however the butcher did not seem down yet. If anything he seemed even angrier.

Julia's attempts to jump to safety would fail her as she trips over the heads of a few puppets who didn't get out of her way. This would cause her to stumble back into the puppet swarm, on her feet but now mired in the crowd. The butcher charged at her, pushing the puppets out of his way as he brought his massive blade up. He slashed down with all of his might at Julia, swinging his blade with enough strength that it cracked the ground. (Butcher's Blade Attack 11/16, Damage 9) But it was also partially buried into the ground, giving Julia a chance opportunity to attack him while his defenses were lowered. But would she risk trying to engage him from up close? Or would she try to put some distance between herself and this madman?

The aristocrats were about to skewer Maxwell when he called forth his absolutely volcanic rage. Their blades didn't even get a chance to touch him before the four nobles were engulfed in flames, their porcelain bodies cracking from the heat and shattering to pieces, before being burnt to ashes. (Con Save 6/16, Con Save 20/2, Con Save 14/3. Con Save 6/7) The flames caught onto the table, burning the cloth and spreading the fires even further. The puppets began to run from the place, going in every direction away from Maxwell.

However things weren't going to end so quickly. Soon from one of the side chambers a flood of more servant-like puppets appeared, yelling about how the butcher has gone mad. Additionally, Maxwell could hear the heavy stomping of something big and armored approaching, likely tougher than what those aristocrats could bring. He could try and face them here, or chance his luck seeing what those servants were running from.

Meanwhile in the dungeons below, a certain young man would break free from his prison, only to find himself pursued by a large and dark shadow! In the heat of the moment, he would see a weapon and take it. Upon grasping this weapon Junwoo would feel a presence join him by his side. But instead of the darkness that was seeking to end him, this presence was more of an ally, a friend. A massive knight armed with an equally massive sword, ready to fight by your side.

"You were always meant for more than living in the shadow of your family. Whatever you do, do it because you want for yourself. No more being pampered and dolled up for someone else amusement. Your life, is now shaped by your hands! I am thou, thou art I. Let us show these villains a good time, shall we?"

Instantly Junwoo's mind was filled with knowledge and experiences that he never had before. The instinct to fight, to move and use equipment he may have never seen outside of a movie or museum. Now he worn a set of chainmail armor, and had two swords, a longsword at his hip and an even Great Sword on his back! But he had to hurry. The shadow was here now, and it wasn't going to let him go so easily.

Rosalie heard the insults coming from the other puppets. Now they weren't just being hurled at the executioner; They were also being hurled at her!

But then...something else caught her attention. The puppet she directed her words to earlier broke her bonds and moved to fight the elf! Rosalie gave a cheer as the puppet disarmed the elf, focused on the inspired puppet instead of the jeers, "Yeah! You go girl!"

But then the elf struck the puppet with a hidden dagger. Rosalie didn't even need to think about it: She had to do something.

Rosalie and Reminiscence were in perfect sync as the girl put the violin away, and unsheathed the rapier. She charged at the elf, and with perfect form and dramatic flourish, the rapier pierced through the elf! The faerie fire she casted on the elf earlier was perfect for guiding her strike!

No time to think about this, Julia needed to get out of here! She pushed her way past the dolls, shoving them to the side while putting space between her and the big guy with the knife. But before she was out of sight, she took a few pot shots at him before looking for a shadowy place to hide out. She hasn't realized it, but she had a nasty cut from that guy's blade, and she did not want to take too many of those. She just loads another bolt and hopes that she can take this guy down before he gets to her.
