Actually, I already have machine guns. They are called Ribults, and have ten barrels on each stand. One gunner lights them, and fires off ten rounds. So with 20 of them in a line, it's a bit of a mess.

But! Having a flintlock doesn't magically make you immune to getting decimated by advanced artillery.

Just use grapeshot, you show off. Lot more effective.

Grapeshot is to imprecise. It's like, a shotgun vs any single projectile based weapon.

I don't think a piece of artillery built in the medieval era (I assume it's medieval, since I can only find it on the total war wikia) is too much more accurate than a wide cone of anti-infantry projectiles.

The Ribult, was medievalish, but much like everything that the Ottomans created, it was a magnificent construct that could compare with near-modern (19th centery) artiliery, unlike the western artillery.

Put 20 cannons loaded up with grapeshot in a row, put 20 of them in a row, fire into the long blocks of infantry used during this period and compare the casualty rating. It's simply not as effective.
