Seems the previous thread can't be posted in due to inactivity or something? So I'm bringing it back.

Point of order:

-PS5 price increase. Hawhawhawhaw. That $50 USD could be spent on a game, if it had any!

-Piracy. It's wrong. And very cool. Don't do it.

-Making this thread during a bot spam invasion so I imagine it'll be drowned out by credit card offers.
_________________________________________________________________

Starting off: Recently got the Pico-8 for like $10. It's basically a 2D game creating shitpost "fantasy" console, aka a program. Tons of obscure old bulletin boards and such made games for it, I narrowed what I downloaded down to around ~765 games out of thousands of shitpost games.

What's really cool IMO, is the games are "just" .PNGs. The .PNG will be the game's cart/cover, and is also the rom image. These are like, 20~50 KiB .PNGs.

It bills itself as an 8-bit style system. Games range from Atari 2600 to Game Boy Color in fidelity, though there are some really solid first person games. Even a port of Doom, Poom:tm:, that to my irritation is better than a lot of the CD console ports we got back in the day although only the first stage.

Shitload of roguetype games and Celeste demakes/romhacks. Overall pretty cool, well worth the amount I could easily see getting a single intentionally "retro" style game on Steam.

Non-RP threads will eventually close to inactivity, yes.

That's clear but, in a forum specifically dedicated to non-RP?

Seems odd. I remember older BBS having a page limit but that's uh. Not really a concern here.

It was something that was added awhile back. Don't remember when, but the anti-necro feature has been around for some time.

Anyway, I bought Grounded 2 just recently. I've always thought the concept of the series was neat, so I'll have to give it a go-around some time soon. Did pick up State of Decay 2 as well (well, really it's just been sitting in my back log all this time) since @mickilennial mentioned us potentially playing MP together.

I picked up https://store.steampowered.com/app/717310/Aggelos/ recently. Was like $3 on a sale elsewhere.

Friend told me it was awful. Put 15 hours into it while saying it was awful so I'm cautiously optimistic he's wrong and just won't admit non-Blue Archie games are good.

I also picked up Grounded 2 recently, still gotta try it but I'm excited! I liked the first Grounded but the one thing I wished for was rideable bugs so I'm very happy those are a thing in the sequel, as someone with a stupid amount of hours in ARK: Survival Evolved nothing makes me happier in a survival game than going "but what if this thing that was trying to eat me five minutes ago was Friend Shaped" XD

@Lith Not sure if this is on-topic but I've been playing DB Gekishin Squadra and I also just made a bunch of space for Oblivion Remastered

@POOHEAD189 This is basically any video game chatter atm so entirely on topic.

Sweet though. I've not got a chance to touch Gekishin Squadra yet, but can vouch the Oblivion Remaster was pretty solid. Need to recheck it since a decent number of mods got support almost immediately, so I imagine that's gone up now.

I made an unarmed Argonian that was Lord Frieza, ironically.

Well, I was playing SoD 2 and meaning to play Grounded 2, but the homies got me on a Minecraft kick. Trying to build noteblock redstone machines is a struggle when you have to count out every redstone tick + ensure you hit the right note on each noteblock.

I used to be religious about Minecraft years back. But lost my groove after all my "hey look redstone telephone" antics + the many iterations of TNT cannons I made. Briefly suffered bedrock stuff with friends but you can only get banned off people's maps so many times.

I'll probably return to it at some point.

LOL Nice, with Lord Frieza. Yeah, I need to check the new mods. Gekishin is also extremely addicting

I recently finished Solasta : Crown of the Magister - after years of putting off purchasing it - and I enjoyed it! 💯 It definitely has its flaws, mind you. The story is very generic, the character interactions and dialogue are nothing memorable, and the “item and economy” system is not good at all. But I definitely recommend the game for those who enjoy character creation/customization and solid combat systems. The quest creation system is nice also!

7/10

I played through No, I'm not Human on Steam with its full release. (Same company that made Mouthwashing and Buckshot Roulette if you're familiar.)

Gist is you're a somewhat misanthropic MC and described by others in your area as a "hermit" during a solar event that makes the day too hot to go outside.

You play the game in your house, deciding who to let in while learning about Visitors-- warped versions of humans that pretend to be human and then as oft they tend to do, kill. Despite your character's distrusting nature, you have to discern who to let in to get supplies, companionship, and to avoid being horrifically murdered by a Anton Chigurh looking Visitor that is able to murder multiple armed soldiers simultaneously and has a fascination in taunting specifically you.

Has the vague framework of a Mafia/Werewolf game.

Problems:
-Buggy though they have been patching it frequently. I had my first would-be ending lead to a crash. lol

-While it works for the theme of the game, you really can't discern the difference between human and visitor versions of some characters until you've already let them in. Feels like there's no good reason why you can't interrogate symptoms of being a visitor through your peephole, especially since you as an MC have to do the opposite and substantiate you're not a visitor to a particular character this same way.

-Most of the cast can be randomized between their human/non-human counterparts, but there are a few fixed characters. I wish more of them also had the randomization mechanic, at least on subsequent play throughs from the first.

Observations:
-Very grim, moody but oddly calming atmosphere. Music, artwork, and character writing really lends to everything being so distrusting and nobody really knowing everything on what to do or how to make it to the next day, some succumbing to authority complexes, some embracing dark id.

-There's plausible explanations for basically everything (or at least logically consistent ones), which humorously makes it almost impossible to tell what's "real" outside blatant manipulations by story line factions. Well executed to grab onto that sense of paranoia.

Overall: If you like narrative games, can rock something that expects you to replay it a few times to get the full gist of the plot, enjoy doing a little mystery solving, grotesque character designs -- this ain't a bad $15 to spend. I got about 10 hours out of it, could probably do more to really nitpick through content but I've generally gotten all the endings.

They're talking about doing more feature updates? I would like to see more fleshed out dialogue trees, more you can do when answering the door, less fixed characters and maybe some variable signs/behaviors so replays don't feel samey. I also would like to see them address the end game flow where at a certain point once you know what you're doing (aka counting the # of FEMA visits), you just stop having to let people in and can coast to x ending.

But overall, positive impression.

Steam autumn sale is in swing, not sure if I want to spend any money on anything. I've got stuff in my wishlist that is on sale, but I might decide to keep saving my money instead.

Yeah, kinda same boat. I have games I "want to get" but I might just wait until Black Friday the Month to dump money if I'm going to on.. I dunno what.

I think my issue is just that I'm satisifed with my current games. I've been playing Rivals, but also a ton of Minecraft with some Discord buddies. Haven't been really interested in finding something else to play even though I own more recent stuff. Hell, I have a Day 1 Switch 2 and I've only played it for a bit post-release.

That makes total sense.

For me it's -- there's games I want. But I know my free time re:gaming won't be spent playing them much because of my project of curating, creating custom media for, and romhacking my entirely legal in every single way© 2025 digital collection.

So I know if I buy something, odds are I'm just adding onto my backlog. In which case logically I should wait until they're on sale since that'll be closer to when I wanna play the anyway.

That and I think "Yeah -yeah- I've deleted tens of thousands of things I won't play" and then look at how far I have to go and.. well.

Bruh I need to stop spending money on Marvel Rivals, every time I hop on (which hasn't been for a few weeks since I took a break) there's always some new cool shit to buy. I've probably spent more money on this game than I've spent in years on actual games to play lol

I logged on so I could grind out some of the battle pass since I hadn't played it in a few days.

Clicked on the shop to just see what new stuff was added.

Saw Squirrel Girl's new Turbo Tailwind skin (as a SG main).

And that's how I became 20 dollars poorer.
