@Cmmelody No, she had her people turn off the monitors, her excuse is that they were preparing to install their own sensors for their exercise.

Ermmm why was it reported as malfunction then? I find it hard to believe that people in charge who would also be responsible for checking the equipment (likely security) wouldn't know that it is turned off and report as such?

I'm not trying to find fault (I swear T_T)

Well, it's become cannon that there's signs of the things being shot at.

If you take a look at Liu's post...

So, about the fuel situation, the ship is powered by Hydrogen Fusion. Not nitrogen fuel, so that should clear things up.

An interesting development but not one authored by me.

In the interest of forwarding the story we can say they blew out the vent safteys or some such with gun fire even though that isn't a particularly subtle way to do it.

I... initially mean the nitrogen fuel use in some ship machineries not the Arcadian, sorry for the misunderstanding. T_T

btw I'm surprise this ship run on Hydrogen Fusion though, water is one of the most valuable resource on the ship after all. I thought it'd run on pure electricity or something.

About the vent situation. You can still say the marine didn't blow the monitor. As for the perpetrator... Someone must have taken advantage of the marine unauthorized training and monitor tampering to further their own agenda and pin the crime to them. It's the first day of travel so some bad persona can still slip through the net, no matter how strict the USF filtering process is.

I'm sorry again. :/

I was wondering if we were spacing someone for sabotage this soon. :p

The thing about ice in space is that, as far as observations of Sol are concerned, it's kinda all over the place. Enceladus, Europa, Pluto and Ceres are covered with the stuff, three of those are suspected of having liquid water below the surface, ice (not always water ice though, also stuff like methane or ammonia, so that's another possible nitrogen source) is a big part of the Kuiper Belt and Saturn's rings...

Plus hydrogen is the most abundant element in the universe. Point at a gas giant and there's probably a load of hydrogen there, which I'm assuming Arcadian is equipped to extract since it's meant to operate on its own for long periods of time.

The problem with hydrogen is storing it. You need to cool it to like -253°C to make it liquid (refrigeration + compression) because that takes up less space than gas, in the right ratio with oxygen it's an explosive mixture and it diffuses through other materials (the molecules are small enough to leak through whatever you made the tank out of, possibly weakening the material in the process) unless you store it chemically in some other material, where you run into problems with how much bang for your buck you're getting.

Well, for what it worth. This is probably the only place in the rp where we can have a human problem (i.e. pirate, terrorist) since we are still inside the border. If you want to go on that route....

I feel like I should say this, but I do not plan on the rp going down that route. Especially at the beginning of the rp.

To be fair, it would be a rather extreme start to... like, why would someone even want to sabotage it?

Well, we have got the hints that some people want there to be separate countries again instead of an united USF. The Arcadian could then be seen as a major symbol of the USF's power and ability. Disrupting it would then potentially be the spark to getting their wish.

But that would shift the rp's focus. The idea of the rp is a sci-fi exploration of a post-apocalyptic galaxy and discovering what caused the galaxy's current state. Dealing with terrorists and the ship being sabotaged would mess with the point of the rp. So no terrorists or the ship being sabotaged by rogue human elements during the rp.

Understood.

I was just giving what could be potentially be used for justification if that were to happen.

Yeah, frankly its a weird angle. Out of everything that a terrorist would go for an exploratory science vessel is...not up there.

Perhaps instead of a full blown terrorist group, could be a stowaway who doesn't know how to keep a low profile or someone who already lost their shit.

Wondering about that as well, kinda curious. I've a feeling Anna is part of that 53% who have neglected to fill in the form. x)

AI going berserk? Because that's historically gone well in sci-fi.
