Survivor's History: Over the span of a nearly forty-five-year career, Jack Landry was one of the most recognizable faces in New England. He appeared on Boston’s ABC affiliate’s live newscast every day as the affable weatherman, better known as “Weather Jack”, predicting snowstorms, heatwaves, and any number of severe weather events to affect the Boston region. His enthusiasm for his job and the community shone through in the same effortless smile that made him a local celebrity. Viewers trusted him, women adored him… and he adored them right back, usually exhibiting the same passion he routinely showed for upper-level lows and high-pressure systems.
Despite a successful career and a thriving social circle, his personal life was a mess. Two marriages had ended in divorce, with both wives attributing their failures to the same fatal flaw. They accused Jack of loving the spotlight more than his family, which wasn’t
entirely inaccurate. Fortunately, his daughter, Claire, was never persuaded by those accusations. Undeterred by her father’s reputation as a ladies’ man, they remained close over the years. Their relationship is one of the few things Jack considers an unquestionable success.
Retirement also hit him harder than he cared to admit. Without the daily ego boost of live television, he struggled to find purpose. His two-week vacation to Luana Isle, which his daughter strongly encouraged through stubborn persistence, was supposed to serve as a relaxing getaway; a place where he could clear his mind and force a hard reset. Claire insisted that the sandy beaches, cocktails, and dancing would be the perfect remedy for his malaise. Perhaps he would even meet someone interesting to settle down with in his twilight years.
However, the outbreak quickly put a damper on those plans. It turned the island paradise into a proverbial hellscape overrun by the undead.
Trapped amongst the chaos, Jack now faces a reality where his charm can’t solve every problem. For the first time in decades, it was no longer relevant that he used to command quite a presence as a local celebrity. No one seems to care.
Instead, one question haunts Jack’s mind: was there enough substance beneath the confident facade to survive the apocalypse and become the man everyone always assumed he was?

Extra Information:- Jack keeps a weather journal wherever he goes, recording information like temperature, wind speed/direction, cloud formations, and other observations. During the apocalypse, this has evolved into a sort of survival journal.
- While not physically imposing, Jack possesses a stubborn determination that often compensates for his age. He refuses to be left behind and has little patience for anyone who assumes he is incapable due to his age.
- He often conceals his fear (or unease) through humor. The more dangerous the situation becomes, the more likely he is to crack a joke or make a sarcastic remark.
- While he would never openly admit to it, one of his greatest regrets is prioritizing his career over family. The outbreak has given him an opportunity to reflect on his life decisions and perhaps make a change.
