You and the other players are lords of small semi-feudal kingdoms, that are outside a medium size empire. The Emperor of said empire informed you that dragons were gathering in the Blachrion Mountains, specifically near the Holden pass. The holden pass is the only way through the mountains to the more wild part of the continent, which is mostly un-populated. You were going up to the nearby caves when you hear a song.
https://youtu.be/AvG2NMbA5z4?t=21 (it starts partway through the song intentionally)
and you decide to join the dragons cause. Now you must convince the dragons of your sincerity, and then prepare your land, for the coming war.

So from what I've gleaned from the song lyrics and the premise of this RP--

Before the empire rose, before civilization took hold of the land, dragons were free and lived without a care.

But then humans being dickheads themselves, they began enslaving/killing dragons, burning their nests, and eradicating their younglings (breaking eggs/infanticide)

The dragons, fed up with the humans, are now waging war against them, led by a powerful dragon warlord (think Alduin or Parthurnaax from Skyrim).

Naturally, the emperor--and the empire as a whole--fabricates lies that the dragons are the aggressors. Possibly, they paint them as nothing but bloodthirsty demons, intent on devouring every living soul and spreading destruction and chaos.

We, the player characters, are vassal lords of the empire. Though we have been loyal for centuries (or however long this empire existed), what we discover in the Blachorian Mountains, and hear from the dragon warlord himself, causes us to become sympathetic. Thus, we--and the small states we rule over--defect from the empire and join the dragons.

Now the question is this: Do we seek conquest---or do we seek peace?

@Flightless_Soul @Rusalka Yeah that basically covers it. The empire and where you are is the southeastern part of the continent, and the mountain range seals off everything to the north and west. Beyond that is the dragons territory, not much is known about the land beyond, the official line is that it used to be a thriving kingdom a few thousand years ago before the dragons killed everyone and only a few made it out through the Holden pass. The Empire wants the land beyond the mountains.

@Lunamaria Hawke Its explained in the song, but Flightless soul explained it fairly well

Just one clarification, most of this stuff happened during the 'expansion war ' as the empire called it, and during that war, the dragons ran for the mountains. However, the Empire is gearing up to expand again, and this time they will fight.

I'm a ruthless dragon. I am thanked for being the danger.
Oddly enough I run a ruthless empire.

You can beg.
You can whine.
You can wallow.
You can run away.
None. Of that. Will save you.
Submitting to fear is a choice.
And you're a fool if you deny it.

Look at you, pretending you can push your problems away. How dishonest.
You just want to drag others down into your pit of shame and miserary.
Chasing "fun". A neverending hunger where you will always starve. Devoid of meaning, reason and purpose.

Then it's an old man. On their death bed. Regretting not having made the time to communicate when they could have.
Because all they did was worry about time. Slow. It. Down. You will learn more from it. Even if it doesn't seem that way at first.

Zhuge Liang. The sleeping dragon. He waited for the wind to blow. It changed the entire war.
Did you think you can get away with trying to avoid a dragons wrath?

Grigori was prepared to lose. The world crumbles apart. Your desperation to get rid of your problems didn't help.
Stubborn child. Is the tapestry you weave truely of your own design?

Watch as people talk big about observation.
Only to ignore.

Watch as people call you a narcissist.
When they go "My my my" repeatedly.

Watch as people preach about the can do attitude.
When they give up.

Watch as people break their own rules.
When they expect you to follow them.

Watch as people act like respect is an entitlement.
When fawning is trauma.

The dragon slumbers. Waiting to awaken.
You earn a dragons wrath.

A dragon just reminds you of what you've been pretending you can ignore.
Yourself.

The dragon slumbers.

That is up to your char and also yeah, all this stuff happened during the ʻexpansion warʻ as the empire calls it, and now the empire is stating to to ʻexpand againʻ
