So I’m new to the site and have been looking for somewhere to roleplay Pokemon, but all the Pokemon RPs here are full so I’d like to try and pitch my own.



An evil criminal organization called Team Rocket is on the rise in Kanto. They lurk every corner, stealing Pokemon from innocent trainers, and then illegally selling them via their shady casinos. Their ultimate goal is to find and harness the power of the Legendary Mewtwo, a Pokemon created by Dr Fuji by splicing DNA from mythical Mew, a cat-like creature said to roam remote islands. With the power of Mewtwo at their hands, Team Rocket can strive for world domination, far past the confines of Kanto alone!

You are becoming a member of this gang, and your job is to cause as much disruption across Kanto as you can. Starting in Rocket’s secret Celadon hideout, you sign up and get to choose your starter, Zubat, Koffing or Ekans. Your first mission is simple: steal Moon Stones from Mt Moon, as they’re said to have powerful effects related to Pokemon evolution. This will surely help you towards Rocket’s journey of capturing the all-powerful Mewtwo.



This roleplay will have anime-style battles, so no TTRPG-style calculation. This is to make the roleplay fun and not a total headache for those involved.

I would like to have admins as well as grunts, though I’d like to limit that to around 3 people.

Although you start with a typical Team Rocket Pokemon, you can catch anything you want so long as it’s not a starter or legendary, and is in the Kanto or Johto dex. Otherwise teams would get very samey. Cross gen evolutions such as Tangrowth,Yanmega and Magmortar are also allowed.

I love Pokemon, so I’m tempted…

Kantodex only does cut off a lot of my favourites but I guess it means I'm not going to mindlessly pursue Golurk to the detriment of everything else I guess. We'll see how things turn out.

I'd consider expanding to Johto is that's what people would want! I don't see any reason to do regions beyond that due to lack of Team Rocket presence in then though.

At the very least it means we wouldn't have a weird lack of dark types if we included Johto (and maybe some Hoenn if we ever do anything in the Sevii Islands but that's getting ahead of ourselves). That and it would mean we wouldn't have to dance around the issue of babies and evolutions introduced in gen 2 (if I'm picking Zubat as a starter I want it to eventually become a Crobat!).

I get why you'd want to limit which Pokemon we can get like this though, there's over a thousand of the damn things by this point and if we included everything then we'd all just spend forever trying to pick out a roster. XD

EDIT: My actual suggestion would be to go with Kanto and Johto at least to begin with (for one thing it would mean that dark isn't the only type that's completely absent that way), plus whatever evolutions were retconned onto Pokemon from those regions in later gens, albeit with the caveat that said evolution has to be actually feasible in Kanto (eg. no strong magnetic fields means no Magnezone).

I just think it makes the most sense that way I guess.

Hey, I'd like to join too and I have a suggestion but feel free to ignore it. If the story were to take place before Mewtwo was created, part of the rp could be collecting DNA. What if Rocket's goal was to catch or steal them all and then extract their DNA in order to create Mewtwo. A feather from each legendary bird could be a fun chapter. Anyway, I want to play a Kalosian spy with a French accent working for Team Rocket at Silph Co.

Did a rough sketch of my potential character in both team uniform and casual outfits. She's supposed to be a bit of a brat so hopefully that came out right.

This is going to go agaignst all the rules, , But i had a question: Could i be a normal trainer AND have a made-up pokemon?
