@Expendable To refer to the mess just above from my own confusion, I'm trying to not have the cast be entirely ex-military. There's going to be plenty of non-military institutions that'd kick you out for picking fights – I've mentioned civilian freight a lot; those are massive conglomerates/merchant guilds.

Her eggs are in storage at a fertility clinic in New Iowa & ship's medlab.

That's… kind of a weirdly specific detail to have.

(And I'm willing to give the monopoly thing a pass, but I'm going to point out that this is thousands of years in the future, at minimum; do try and keep that in mind when it comes to specific things that exist now)

From the stories she was told as a kid, the settlers of New Iowa crossed space in covered wagons with Monopoly being the only way to pass the time. And the Imperial Navy didn't make her into a warrior-elite fighter pilot on a ship of the line, she was doing grunt work on an aging repair ship. The eggs were for her mother, worried something would happen and Lara wouldn't be able to have kids when she got out.
