TLDR: the party landed. they must now recover what was lost, find a way home, and survive

The party had survived the long fall into the Deep, though survival had come at a cost. During the descent, every piece of metal they carried had softened, liquefied, and been stripped away, leaving behind missing equipment, damaged mechanisms, and bodies that could no longer function as they had before. They could see their metal floating away or creeping away as more of it finally honored gravity and pooled on the ground around the party. It slowly started making its way down hill as water might but much slower.
Michael was among the most affected. Without the mithril that had supported his body and powers, he could no longer function at a supernatural level or use his magic. He remained weak on the ground, partially covered in his own sick, and would likely require assistance before he could move far under his own power. His face was beaded in sweat and twisted in discomfort.
The party had landed upon a broad expanse of crystal, stone, and metallic growths. What had once looked like plants and water turned out to be liquid forms of various metals and minerals. Above them stretched the neon sky they had seen during the final portion of the fall, while far across the sea of liquid metal stood the immense central column that dominated the distant landscape.
Closer to the party, a bunch of nonmetallic possessions remained scattered around the landing area, giving the party an immediate opportunity to stock up on various tools, clothing, or supplies that had survived impact. Most items being of wood, fabrics, and fibers.
A short distance away stood an inactive chaos gate formed from black stone and crystal. It was partly covered in what looked like foliage but turned out to be crystal and other mineral oddly growing out in colors and shapes like natural vegetation. It was not too different from the ones all over the surface world. Its structure appeared intact despite not having the typical field of magic stretching across it and giving views to the other places it linked to.
