Ethans eye's wondered the scene in front of him rather bemused, he had only left Flourish and Blotts mere moments ago and had come to pick up some new clothing for the school year. Walking in the first thing he noticed was what appeared to be a bunch of new years being attacked by various tape measures, which were at the moment wrapping around their bodies like snakes. He smiled holding back the laugh, Madam Malkin was not without her sense of humor, in fact if he thought about it this was not the first time an army of measuring tools subdued several students all at once. He certainly did remember his first trip to this shop, he remembered being pinned to the floor with a measuring tape as well and then a whole bunch of measuring tools climbed on him and pretty much measured every single inch of his body. Ethan shook his head with a grin as one of the new years in particular was flicking his wand around while tied, he was pretty much hitting everything but the measuring tape. Turning his attention to the left Ethan saw another measuring tape fly out of the cabinet and came for him, pulling out his wand he simply swished it as the measuring tape wrapped itself around a clothing rack, then taking a step forward he climbed over the young man on the ground who seemed to be enjoying himself and approached the counter.

"Madam Malkin your tape measures are getting really clingy out here again. Another moment and they could all go on dates."

Ethan did not get a response as Madam Malkin was probably quite busy with the new years and returning students, leaning against the counter Ethan swished his wand once more pointing at the boy on the ground, the tape measure slowly released him so that he may attempt to free the other students. Looking around the store was in complete tatters, it really had been a really busy day today it seemed. Ethan swished his wand again, various items all over the store including knocked over bookshelves, scattered papers, knocked over clothing, and various other bits an bobs all lifted from the ground and slowly began returning to its original space in the store, within mere moments the entire store was back in order, except for the kids still struggling with the snake like measuring tapes of course.

"Professor Graves! Your early I was not expecting you until at least tomorrow, thank you so much for the spring cleaning it has been a busy day."

Ethan turned as well dressed lady with silver well trimmed hair came into view, she was dressed radiantly as always with her small pair of glasses neatly on her nose. She was in reality a walking perfection in the Wizarding world of fashion. She was in fact the best clothier in greater London.

"Forgive me Madame I returned early to London just this morning I was away in Albania on business with the ministry. An to be honest I just couldn't resist dropping into Diagon Alley, I do enjoy a nice butterbeer and watching the first years get wrapped up in your tape measures. Lets just say that its quickly becoming the high light of my return."

"Well come on through to the back, I just finished your new attire only a day or two ago, you can come give them a test wear and make sure their fitting for you. Although I must admit getting the materials for your clothing was a bit pricey especially that dragon skin, you know how touchy they are now and days about using that material in clothing."

"No worries Madam Malkin I already have your payment set up, plus a little extra as always for the fine work... also I would hate to intrude, after all the kids seem to be trapped in your store of hostile measuring devices."

Ethan smiled at Madam Malkin as she looked at the kids still trapped within the measuring tapes.

"No worries Professor the tape measures will keep them out of trouble."

Ethan gave a cheerful laugh as he followed Madam Malkin into the back of the store and disappeared from view.

Charlyn Avalon

Currently in Diagon Alley, Madam Malkin's Robes

Also in the same shop: Cameron (@SomewhatAverage) | Talon (@XAnthProper) | Callum (@AbysmalDemon) | Alexandria (@Lady Hestia) | Charles (@Natsu) | Liliana & Rosa (@carla6677) | Professor Graves (@Kodiak)

Charlyn had trouble even taking in all that happened in the next few minutes. A man arrived in the shop, talking to Madam Malkin - which really angered her! The shop owner had just gotten to give the kids some attention and attacked them with touchy measuring tapes, there comes a man along and takes her away from them again, leaving them with all the tapes around their body parts. Charlie already disliked the man more than any person she had met today.

She tried to free herself, but nothing she did seemed to work for much longer than a few seconds. Then, about five minutes later, the shop owner came back around and waved her hand as if to wave away a fly.

"That's enough now!", she shouted to her measuring tapes and all at once flew away in a big mess, knocked over a few things in the shop and disappeared in the room behind the counter. Madam Malkin shook her head softly. "I apologize for my little bugs. They're getting really excited with new year's." The woman looked at all the students.

Charlyn's head slowly began to calm down again once the magical measuring tapes disappeared to do whatever back there. Madam Malkin spoke again: "So kids, let's see - how many are you?" She rose her hand and counted their heads. "Okay okay, three black robes for all of you, one hat, winter robe, gloves - and a ceremony robe for this young man here." She winked and smiled. Her smile was heartwarming and Charlyn immediately felt at home.

"Are they always like this?", she asked, referring to the tapes.

Madam Malkin shook her head but then nodded with a laugh. "Who am I trying to fool? They are always very excited around kids. Most older wizards and witches they do not dare to approach like this since one costumer had set a few of them on fire out of anger."

Charlie chuckled and then asked: "When will our clothes be ready for us?"

"Oh only in a few minutes, deary", the nice witch answered. "They will look for your sizes now and make some adjustments if needed."

The woman waved her wand and cleaned up the few things that the measuring tapes had knocked down on their way to the back. "You know", she began to talk again in a chatty voice. "The list for clothing never changed over all those years. Hogwarts still orders the very same things for first year's. You could say they're stubborn sticking with old ways, but why change things if they seem to work just fine right? But if you would like to be a little more modern with your styles, I could totally offer you some help. This young man - oh who was it again?" She looked around, not remembering who had ordered the one robe. "The young man that just ordered our very famous ceremony robe? Yes, yes, that is a must have for all new students. I assure you."

Finally. A professor. The most qualified, willing person to help out with the struggles that the students were going trough and... he didn't. Sure, you could say he did help by putting some robes back on the rack but students were actively being strangled by measuring tapes and he was having a leisurely with Madame Malkin. Cal scowled, but continued to help who he could get out of the ropes. He snapped himself free from a rather dedicated tape and heard a voice call to him.

"I don't suppose you could help me?" Cal turned to the boy who was on the floor in measuring tapes. He rushed over to him and tried to pull the tapes off, but after he only pulled of one in a few minutes he decided to jab of the rest with his wand. It was a tuff task and after he was done he help the boy back up into standing position. "Nice to meet you Charlie, the name's Cal. Nice to meet you." He gave his hand out for the boy to shake if he didn't do that already. There was too many hand shakes when he first met everyone to tell who was who.

Alexandria had found the situation quite funny. till a man had arrived in the shop, talking to Madam Malkin - which really seemed to distract The shop owner, Who had just gotten to give the kids some attention and attacked them with the measuring tapes wrapping around them, Alexandria was slowly getting irritated with the situation.
She tried to bat the measuring tapes away from, but they seemed pretty determined to tangle around her. Then, about five minutes later, the shop owner came back around and waved her hand as if to wave away a fly.

She let out a sign of relief as the measuring tapes all at once flew away in a big mess, knocked over a few things in the shop and disappeared in the room behind the counter. She looked around at the students, they seemed to have look just as relieved as her at finally being free from the measuring tapes.
Alexandria nodded her head as she listen to Madame Malkin's explain the Hogwart's uniform and answered another girl's questions. She nodded her head, as she smiled at the brown-haired girl who asked questions.

Charlie had the strangest mixture of annoyance and befuddlement at the situation before him. The man who entered the shop seemed to not at all care about the predicament the students found themselves in, but Madame Malkin seemed to be apologetic and kind. He smiled as the boy came over and helped the tapes off of him. He shook Cal's hand, and said, "Thank's a lot Cal."

As Madame Malkin talked about the various styles of robes they could get, he internally rolled his eyes at the obvious upsell. He'd seen stuff like this since before he could walk, so he didn't see himself buying anything more than the bare necessities, especially on his budget. He turned his attention back to Cal saying, "This is all so amazing! Less than a week ago I thought all this stuff was impossible, and now it's so real" He mused. He put his hands into his pockets, and then asked,"Is your family wizards, or is this all new to you too?"

Ethan stood within the back room of Madam Malkins shop in front of a quite large mirror, his reflection in the mirror subtlety changed directions on its own and show him from and back views of the clothing he was wearing. As his reflection slowly turned back to face him it slowly changed in a misty haze into another man completely. The man standing in the mirror now was of the same height and build, but his hair was pitch black and heavily receding, his face was weathered and a finely trimmed beard of grey and white covered his chin and mouth which all but couldn't take away from the cold dark green eye's that seemed to stare back at Ethan. Ethan stared into the green harsh eye's as the world seemed to spin for a second and just for a moment he was nine again, the dressing room in which he stood turned into a large study comprised of blackened wood and antiques which lines the various bookshelves that lined the room, he now stood on a large old rug in front of an antique desk where his father sat before him glaring into his eye's. An Albanian accented voice seemed to echo thickly within the room, a voice so cold and emotionless:

~~~~~~ "You will not embarrass this family Ethan, I will not have any son of mine associating themselves with a lowly pathetic mud-blood. You are to break off contact with this girl immediately and you will not again approach her. Do you understand me boy?"
Ethan stood with his head down now as his father forbade him to see Emily, his fists were closed into balls as he tried so hard not to talk back to his father. He could not stop seeing Emily, she was his best friend and his father would take make it so they could never see each other again.
"I asked you if you understood me boy! I will not have this family's name sullied by this dirty little mud-blood witch! You will answer me now!"
Ethan clenched his fists even tighter as the anger welled up within him at his fathers words towards Emily, looking up his eye's hardened and bore straight into his father as he spoke:
"No..."
Ethan watched as his fathers eye's became like angry black orbs as he stood up from his desk and towered over the young boy, Slamming his hand down on the desk the old wood creaked from the solid blow as Ethan stood his ground.
"What did you say to me boy!? You had better rethink your last word because I will not be disrespected by my own son in my own house! Do you understand me!"
"No... I don't care what you say anymore...
Ethan sputtered the words out as his father became red in the face, coming from around the desk he brought his hand up and it came crashing into Ethan's face, it was a clubbing blow as he fell sideways and smacked the floor.
"How dare you speak me like that boy! I am your father and you will show me respect! If I forbid you from seeing that filthy little mud-blood then you are going to listen to my commands! There are no questions, no discussion, you have not earned the right to have your own opinion or say in the matter!"
Ethan grabbed his face as he slowly stood back up, blood was drizzling down from his nose and onto his shirt as he started hatefully at his father who loomed over him. The anger inside him welled to its breaking point as he took a step towards the looming figure.
"I said no! I refuse! How dare I for talking back to you!? How dare you for talking about my best friend like she is nothing more then a piece of trash! Your a piece of trash father not Emily, you!!"
Ethan turned from his father and walked towards the door of the study, an angered voice echoed behind him filled with hatred and contempt.
"Don't your turn your back on me boy! I am your father and you will listen to me!"
Ethan ignored his father still clutching his face, reaching out he grabbed the door knob to leave the study, suddenly out of nowhere his entire body was convulsing in severe pain. Ethan fell to the floor as it felt like hot white knives were piercing every inch of his body at the same time, his head felt like it was going to explode as he quickly lost control of his senses or where he even was, he opened his mouth to scream but no sounds came out as he writhed in agony on the floor, for what only lasted mere seconds felt like it has last three years. The pain stopped as suddenly as it began, Ethans eye's were hazy from the pain as the figure of his father loomed over him, the man he despised looked down upon him the wand in his hand pointed down at him. Putting the wand away he bent down to Ethan and bore his eye's into his own and spoke coldly:
"If you will not break your connection with that mud-blood then I will do so for you... one day your going to thank me boy."
Ethan tried weakly to say something but his entire body felt like it had been drained of all energy, he could but do nothing as he lay on the rug slowly slipping into unconsciousness.
~~~~~~

The world around Ethan slowly returned to the dressing room in which he stood in, the reflection in the mirror swirled slowly and his own reflection returned as he slowly turned his head and looked around silently around the room. The memory fresh in his mind stung as if it had happened only yesterday, back then he had not known what his father had done to him only that after that moment life was never the same again, not for him it was an event that had long haunted his dreams as he was growing up. Your did not need and Eidetic memory to remember such a moment in life, but having one did not help him in the end either but only intensified the moment for him. Ethan sighed and tried to think of happier moments to erase the sudden onset of such a terrible memory, he just merely let himself think of the new year and the new students and soon enough a smile was back on his face. The clothing fit perfectly on him, Madame Malkin had like always did a wonderful job. Gathering up the boxes of clothing left for him he stuck his previously worn set of clothing in a box and decided to wear this out instead, a change of cloths couldn't hurt nothing.

Walking back out to the front of the store Ethan saw Madame Malkin helping the younger students, setting the boxes on the counter he did not interrupt him. It was rather rude of him to just come in and steal her away. It looked as if the tape measures were finally done measuring and the young students were getting their robes. Ethan crossed his arms as he leaned against the counter and waited for Madame Malkin to finish, he only hoped the kids didn't blame him too much for leaving them to the measuring devices, after all the one thing he did not want to do is impede Madame Malkin's work and have her send those tape measures after him like she did the first day he walked in her shop all those long years ago.

Cal wiped the sweat from his forehead. Fighting off measuring tapes took up quite a lot of energy. "No problem," Cal said coolly, shrugging off that he broke a sweat in a robe shop, "anytime." He said with a small laugh and a shake of his head. Cal smiled as Madame Malkin obviously tried to get people to buy her other robes, but Cal had to admit he was a sucker for that kind of stuff, that's why he asked for the ceremony robe before.

Even in the Wizarding World it's different to me. I mean, sure, I know what magic is but to see it all here and this whole place... It really changes things." Cal said with a small smile. He never really could understand why his parents hated muggle-borns, they even look PMed down on most half-bloods. It was people like them who made the world the way it is now. Full of prejudice, hate, and disrespect. He made another small smile at Charlie.

Rosa and Liliana saw the measuring tapes go crazy on the kids in the store and Liliana screamed. She obviously hated it and Rosa was smiling like she was oblivious to it as she tried to calm down her sister because of how worked up Liliana got. Rosa was struggling to get Liliana to calm down even after Madame Malkin had stopped the measuring tapes. "Those are not going anywhere near me", Liliana stated. This was one of the reasons that she would never step foot into the store. She hated it and she was scared of them. She would rather be curled up with a good book now than ever being in this shop because it drove her crazy. Liliana backed away from the tapes, her breathing really fast. She was obviously really really scared. She ran out of the store as her parents entered and sighed. Her father went after her while her mother stayed with Rosa. Rosa felt like it was stupid but Liliana got scared, even though she was pureblood, when things that usually wouldn't move, moved around her. She was really scared of that and Rosa found it to be weird. Liliana was crying outside of the store as she had been having a panic attack because of it. Her father saw her and sighed, knowing she would calm dowm by herself and went back inside. Liliana wouldn't go back inside at all because of the measuring tapes. "Sorry about my sister, this freaks her out, even being raised in a magical world, it freaks her out" Rosa apologized as the measuring tapes went away. Liliana was curled up into a ball outside of the shop, trying to breathe properly and she was shaking badly, obviously really scared for what just happened.

Cameron couldn't help but go into a bit of a daze afterwards. Students entered the store and joined the chaos of the store, but he stood in the corner until eventually, all of the measuring tapes finished their measurements and sped behind the counter to do... whatever it is that magical measuring tapes do. He looked around at the rest of the students, clearly excited from everything that was going on. Suddenly, he noticed something felt off about the group. Wasn't there two identical twins in here? Even if he had gone quiet for a moment, two girls who looked almost exactly alike wasn't an observation that went under his radar. He examined the group and found that while one still remained, the other was unseen. He left the group of first-years and looked around the store, but he still did not see her. Looking to the store front, he saw her. Curled up into a fetal position, he watched her and felt a strange feeling in his gut. It wasn't pity and it wasn't guilt; it felt more like the girl almost radiated a sort of... empty space. Leaving the shop, he joined her on the front steps of the shop and remained silent, simply sitting down beside her. Once he was situated, he gave her a few moments before quietly saying, "I understand." He kept his gaze on the street, looking at some of the passing wizards. He smiled as he thought of how perspective could change one's understanding entirely. Maybe they think that we're friends or siblings, but they would never guess that we don't even know each other's names. So he sat, silently, as the world turned and lives went on and two kids sat on the steps of a clothing store.
