@Keyguyperson

We still on for the Ikko-Chi movement inspiring your brand of theocratic communism, which in turn, inspires Zaskar's more secular brand and the resulting revolution?

Currently thinking, due to our nation's positions, they might have a pretty strong anti-colonial stance, ideology wise.

Hmmm.

If you're going for a Great Britain type feel...

*sorts through kindle books*

Ah.

Here it is. the Opium Wars.

Perhaps you could take the central island, between Not! Africa! and Not! Europe and compensate for the lost land by claiming part of Not! Asia and justify it with an Opium war-esque conflict with a Not! Asia nation that escalated to total annexation?

For reference:

Sounds good. As a rule-of-thumb all the Not-Norse/Not-German/Not-Scandinavian will fall under the general term Lancianic.

Sounds good. I had it in mind that one ethnic group from my nation originated from explorers centuries ago who sailed over to Ravinkra (my nation) from NOT-Africa Hadricia and settled it merging with the locals. Creating something like Egypt or England that became quite the cosmopolitan region.

Also it seems we're going to be neighbors. Perhaps we can also work out the relations between our two powers? Given the proxmity and the history of the continent I'm sure our nations interacted. Probably violently given the current ruler. My nation is going to be a monarchy, part of the old guard if you will, that has a long and unbroken history of being ruled by Queens.

The basic idea behind Zaskar, is, at it's heart, a post colonial nation in an age of colonialism. Zaskar essentially being the result of a coalition of colonies from various nations-or one nation (interested parties, feel free to volunteer intermingle your history with mine) that united with the natives of the continent to force out their colonial masters. This revolutionary moment-and movement, was inspired by the scripture of the Ikko-Chi religion from Not! Japan, which secular thinkers in Zaskar adopted into what we would recognize as a secular sort of communism-resembling Cuba's system in spirit if not down to the last detail.

There's also some interesting parallels to the USA, in that it is likely the first colony to win it's freedom-though other influences are stronger. It has some strong elements of the Congo-especially the belgian Congo during it's colonial period, it's colonists/former colonists have more in common with Australians, and of course, there are elements of Cuba throughout.

Awesome!

I must ask then, what sort of feel are you going for, in terms of systems of governance? I know you've mentioned a queen, and I get the feeling the government is an absolutist one. Is this accurate?

An interesting break from the British Empire, all in all, if I am reading your intent right. The British Empire is sometimes called "an empire founded in a bout of absent-mindedness", and emerged not so much as a deliberate objective, but more organically. Your own Empire seems to have a very deliberate and very clear "We want an Empire and we want it now" vibe.

It makes me wonder how else their society/history breaks from their inspiration.

Seriously though, the EIC had the right idea: take a country over, trade with the new English-friendly leadership, make litteral tons of moolah. I mean, sure it screwed a lot of countries overin the long run, but hey, what does the Empire care?
