The Journey Begins

Chapter 1

South America, Undisclosed Location

In the midst of a dense jungle where the canopy is so thick that even sunlight is scares on the floor below, few animals stir about in the evening hours. A small rodent of some sort or another scurries across the leaf covered ground, riddled with the roots of large trees, making its way to an unseen burro as large snake lies lazily on a branch watching, sniffing the air with its slender tongue darting in and out. Hidden in the shadows, higher up in the trees, a panther sits looking for any signs of a sizeable meal. The intense golden yellow eyes slowly looking from one area to the next stopping as it stood at attention sniffing the air. Arching its back and scrunching its nose it started to hiss and growl, making its hair stand on end then leaping down and darting off with lighting speed. Just a moment later the serene jungle scene was shattered by a burst of lightning, energy and gusts swirling into a spherical shape, crackling and popping for several long seconds before a figured appeared with a burst of the sphere’s sudden disappearance.

The figure was almost immediately, upon arrival, dropped to the ground visibly wounded from some unknown fight. Struggling to his feet he briefly looked around at his surrounding then made his way to what seemed like a random tree. The tree in focus was a large tree measuring about seven to eight feet in diameter, and covered in knobby protrusions. The injured figure made it to the tree and put his hand on one of the knobs, waiting a moment nothing seemed to happen. “Darn you Batman.” He said half laughing and half coughing a wet cough causing a small bit of blood to drip down his chin. He then placed his hand on another knob witch produced an audible click, and what followed was the opening of a secret door to which the figure stumbled into. The door closed and what turned out to be an elevator began to descend. For several moments the figure lay slumped in the elevator making a wet sort of wheezing with every breath.

As he sat in the elevator he thought back at why he came here and what had lead him hear.
”Falsh!” Batman barked in an annoyed and angry tone. “This is not a discussion, nor a debate. You are the only one at this point that can save what will become of earth.” An explosion could be heard in the distance emanating from somewhere in the Watchtower.
“What if there is nothing left! What if I only find ashes or no one is left alive that can make a difference?” Flash didn’t want to just leave his team. “How do we know this will work?”
“It has to.” Batman said in return. This was his tock answer that really couldn’t be argued. There was really no other option for them at this point and the outlook of their situation was not the best. “There is no time to waste now.” As if to agree with batman the Watchtowers computer system sent out a impact alert. “GO BERRY, RUN!”

As the elevator door opened the lights to a vast room slowly came on one after another revealing a kind of control center. The figure, now resorting to a crawl, pulled himself out of the elevator.
“Welcome, Flash.” A computer voice called out.
“Cassidy, Enact Protocol: House Calls. Pass Code: Backyard, Nigeria, Boxcar, Omega.” The flash called back. The computer said nothing in response, but at a console with many different monitors a handful of screens turned on illustrating it was contacting several people. Over a different corner some lights came on revealing a half built structure with blueprints labeled “Space Manipulation/Beacon”. On the table with the papers a beacon activated, shooting up an antenna that began blinking and beeping. While this all happened the flash silently passed still on the entrance landing just outside of the elevator until his chest emblem began to release an immense amount of energy, and with a flash of electricity he was gone.

In the very distant future Earth was invaded by aliens, none the planet has ever seen before. The Guardians of the Green Lantern Corp did not even know who they were and they claimed to know it all. The aliens systematically bombed every major power, be it government, hero, or villain. Within twenty-four hours they had conquered the planet.

Decades have passed George a member of a resistance, he was eventually captured and like all slaves who who resisted they had their brains harvested to act as a computer for the alien's combat android army. George created a virus that saved his mind from being reprogrammed, it saved others after him. Once they were able to gain control of their combat android bodies they destroyed the plant that created them.

They tried to join another resistance movement but they were attacked even after they were able to prove they weren't like the other combat androids. George and his friends set out on their own. They eventually found an abandoned human facility that was partially destroyed. They took it over got it up and running for the most part. Fixed up other parts.

They eventually found a time travel device, a sphere. George volunteered to travel to the past but he couldn't control when and possibly where he would land. So he loaded up for war just in case. What he did know of Earth's history was it was always violent and unfriendly.

The transition from the present to the past was incredibly rough. He was bounced all over the sphere he was in. If he was human it would have killed him. During the trip he hd two thoughts "Why the hell didn't they put a seat with a seat belt in this death trap?" And "Time travel sure takes a frelling long time. Is that ironic?"

George wasn't doing this to save humanity, he considered humanity little more than a cockroach that refuses to die. He was doing this for his sister, she was turned into combat android like him but he couldn't save her like he did himself. To save her he had to save humanity as a whole, a thought that would make him hurl if he still had one.

Just as he was about to start playing a card game in his head to make the time pass faster he came to extremely rough landing. The time sphere when it landed crashed through a sky scraper and it landed on a bus destroying it and all inside.

George was knocked unconscious. When he came to he could hear the sounds of something or someone cutting through the sphere. He stood beside the cutting area and held one of his Oni handguns. As soon as whoever/whatever stepped through he was going to have to take whatever stepped through hostage.

Dr. Malacoda Zatanna

The Gotham Opera House

The hour mark had been met, and the gilded insides of the famed Gotham opera house filled with the soft respite from the previous chaos - and Malacoda could not resist the soft smile that graced his face. While his eyes remained closed, his fingers patted softly on his lap as he followed the ministrations of the Gotham Philharmonic. He was lost in the music - utterly sublime as these masters of the art spun forth gold through nothing but string, and brass and friction. This was Liszt though… and this was the Faust Symphony - and before such a thing as redemption could be humored - dissonance resurfaced! There it was. The build! Not even two minutes before - BAM! Crescendo!

It took him a moment to realize that there had actually been a blast - and his eyes slowly opened - his ears twitching at the now uncoordinated shrill screams of people attempting to flee the area - and the nazaly chatter of a green clad fellow on the stage - clearly seen from his private box set to the upper left of it. “What flies without wings? Answer: Time - Which all of you will have very little of should you not sit down right now - and move the goods to the sides - Jewels, money - the works!” He paraded about the stage, swinging his cane around - unawares of the dark brown eyes following his movements.

Malacoda sighed and started to take off his watch - he was sure they would come collect it soon enough anyway - when he noticed the primary violinist rush forwards, in a valorous act of bravery and stupidity - trying to tackle and restrain The Riddler - which, despite the boy being curiously muscular - failed miserably - as the green clad man moved faster than anticipated and amputated his wannabe attacker’s hand. The young violinist fell to the ground, whimpering - while The Riddler picked up the discarded appendage -”THEY (Pointing to the audience) have been giving you a hand for most of the evening - Perhaps you should now return the favor!” - and with that he threw the hand into the audience - which got a few screams out of them before they quieted down once more.

Malacoda looked at the boy, his face red - clearly crying while his eyes were locked onto where now was a bleeding stump at the end of his arm. He knew he was not a very passionate person, but he could feel his heartbreak at the sheer waste - at the loss of potential. He was so good… if only he had not been so stupid as to try anything that reckless… He did not seem to notice his teeth crunching together and his knuckles turning white as he gripped his velvet covered seat. Where was the Batma… Oh wait. They were gone. Dammit.

“SIT DOWN! - We’ll get to you in a moment.” Malacoda returned to himself, and found that the Riddler was looking at him - along with everyone else in the theatre - where he had stood up without his awareness. He took a deep breath, and his hands flew up - gesturing out over the entire theatre - before he spoke in a clear, deep voice. “TEL EHT SLEWEJ OUY OS ERISED, NIARTSER UOY EKIL ROUY DEERG” - a bit dramatic but easily enough done with some augmentation with his telekinesis. He watched as the diamond necklaces and bangles entangled the thugs, securing them in place, before picking up his umbrella - and floating down to where the riddler stood - seemingly unsure and unprepared for any sort of resistance. His panicked eyes flicked to the now quiet violinist on the floor - and made to reach for him - but his hands stopped in mid air as Malacoda landed a few feet away. “SA ROF OUY, DNATS EREHT DNA DUALPPA RIEHT TCA LLIT RUOY SDNAH DEELB!” Malacoda’s face remained impassive as the riddler turned towards the still paralysed orchestra - and started applauding them, while his face was filled with rage.

When he was sure that the man was secured in place, he crouched down and gently took the still bleeding arm of the violinist. With his free hand he reached behind him, and the hand that lay by the feet of one of the audience members gently flew into his hand. Without turning around, he said loudly - “I hope one of you had called the GCPD by now.” Frowning when he heard them fluttering about behind him, everyone trying to be the first. He turned his eyes to the man in front of him, whose eyes in turn were still red and wide. “I can’t guarantee that it will be as good as it was before… but I beg you - please do not give up on your talent. You were exquisite… and you can remain so.” The boy nodded shakily looking to where Malacoda had been pressing the hand against the stump - before he started whispering. After a few minutes the skin started to meld back together, before eventually the limb started moving slightly - and a crack was heard - coming from Malacoda’s ring. The boy smiled and grabbed his arm back, flexing his hand - and when he looked up - to thank his saviour - he could only see an exhausted face for a moment, before it disappeared in a flash of light

Back at his home, Malacoda stumbled over to his bed. “Gods… three spells and I am thoroughly done - and one was a prepared ritual” - he looked to his ring, which now held a single cracked diamond - symbolizing three months worth of work, and a very delicate spell that could theoretically have saved anyone from the brink of death - wasted on a fucking severed palm! He groaned loudly - “I need to work on my stamina…” He said this as he fell into his bed, and was within moments out for the count. His last thought was - I need to find Zatanna.

Theran Kar ~ Hawkman

Metropolis ~ Little Bohemia

The city was peaceful enough for the moment, the only trouble Theran stepped in to stop was a runaway monorail earlier that morning. The Thanagarian was still not quite used to being called Hawkman, but the citizenry seemed hellbent on calling him that. In fact, Theran even tried to explain to the populace that he was not the man they thought he was. It was to no avail, the humans must have been desperate to have one of their fabled Justice League members miraculously return. Theran didn't care for the idea of stealing another man's name, but if calling himself Hawkman gave the Earthlings some manner of hope, then who was he to take that away?

The moment's peace was ended abruptly when a large sphere came crashing out of the sky, seemingly out of thin air. In it's downward fall the object nearly crashed into Theran, but the Thanagarian was fortunately quick enough to roll his momentum out of the way so as to avoid being flattened. He was quick to use his wings to correct himself again in midair, "What in the name of...?" Theran started to demand, but noticed the object's crash course and his eyes widened underneath his bird-like mask, "No!" he called, nosediving as fast as his wings would allow him. The object was barreling right for a bus full of people. Theran wanted to reach it first and get those people out of harm's way, but he simply wasn't fast enough.

The spherical object made it's explosive impact, practically obliterating the bus and Theran wasn't fast enough to stop it, "Hasn't the people of this world suffered enough?!" he shouted, practically giving a warcry as he made a b-line for the spherical object, "Who do you think you are?" he demanded, brandishing his Nth metal spear and already going to work on the sphere, trying to pry it apart or punch his spear through, "Dropping out of sky with no warning and killing the innocent bystanders who happen to be in your way, don't think you won't pay for this! Haaaah!" he kept bashing and thrusting, hoping the nth metal weapon would be enough to break open whatever this thing was. At last, the Thanagarian made an opening.

"Come on out you - robot?" Theran was momentarily confused. Inside the machine was... another machine. Well, the one inside had a vaguely human shape, but was clearly made of metal and electrical parts. It had to be some kind of robot, but it was nothing the winged alien had ever seen before. Of course, he also noticed the gun the mechanical thing brandished. Perhaps it was indeed looking for a fight? No matter, Theran thrust his spear forward anyway, hoping to skewer the thing before it could do anymore harm. The Thanagarian trusted that his nth metal breastplate would be enough to keep the gun from harming him.

Downtown

Khnemu had been wandering. The pyramids still stood, that was good, the world was much larger than what he had remembered seeing, that was still good. The land was still there, more good. He had seen great wonders and more beauty than he had thought he would ever see in Egypt. Thoth had taught him many things after awaking him, things he needed to survive, Thoth was too weak to help him any longer though. One thing Thoth had taught him was that human language had changed, more had emerged in the time he was laying, he had been taught each one of them, but even that weakened the god, and Ra's hatred of Khnemu only made it harder for the knowing god to aid him.

Due to the knowledge of Thoth, he had seen many things, conversed with never-seen tribes in the Amazon who still hid from that which they didn't understand. They thought he was a god, and he had the strength to prove it. He had seen creations of man so large that they towered over the land he was sworn to protect, a good place to watch from, he noted when he had seen the first such building.

He had rode the wind over sea and sand, over trees and rocks. Yet when he approached Gotham, he could no longer ride the winds at the speed he once had. He was slowed by black clouds that smelled sour, like rot. Could this be a curse on the land? He could not just sit idle while the earth he had sworn to protect was choked under soot and smoke.

Even as he walked, the people of the city dressed in garb so odd he could not have imagined it in his dreams, he could not see the poison that had settled itself into the very land, that had consumed the air, and corrupted the people into hiding in the darkness and taking what wasn't theirs. Khnemu could not but feel disgusted by what had been wrought over this land he had never seen.

Eventually, he found it, the sorcerers who had done it. Dressed in bright orange and yellow, wearing hats of many colors, presumably to distinguish between the ranks of their cult. They held weapons, on them written in one of the many languages, the word "stop". Perhaps it was some form of charm, to keep opponents from moving while they belted them with their dark magics. Behind them, towered beasts, growling and groaning faceless beings, yellow in color, with the word "Cat" written on the sides, another charm. They lifted the very dirt from the earth and dumped it away into large piles with their one skeletal arm, all the while spewing the same blackness that filled the skies. There had been beasts before, crowding the paths, but they had been beasts of burden, tamed to carry the people within. These beasts were unlike anything he had seen before. Some lifted the land while others collected the scrounged dirt on their backs and carried it away, converting it all into the same cursed smoke.

What was this? Why had these men cursed the land so? Khnemu approached with intent to discover their motive.

"What have you done?" He asked the first cult member he came across, a man singing a hymn, probably to his dark gods.

"Shake it off, shake it-" The man leapt high into the air when Khnemu spoke to him. The man laughed a second before coughing and putting on a frown. He looked up and down Khnemu's body, his face flustered and confused.

"It's not Halloween yet is it?" Khnemu had no clue what the man was saying.

"Whatever you are doing here has to stop, I demand it." The cultist rolled his eyes.

"Oh great, a hippie. Listen pal, this area is construction, you aren't allowed in here without a hard-hat." He said, rolling his eyes once more. "You're going to have to leave, we're kinda building the new LexCorp office here." The cultist continued.

Khnemu furrowed his brow and unwrapped the bandages on his wrists.

"You will leave, or I will make you." He said, not looking at the man. The man gave a look of utter confusion.

"Listen, bud, you can't 'make' us do anything, so get out of here or the cops will 'make' you go to a nice cell!" The cultist said, pointing aggressively at Khnemu. At this point, the other cultists had wandered over to see what was happening.

Khnemu rotated his neck once, then took off at a dash. He leapt into the air at the man, who grabbed him around the waist after a moment of staring wide-eyed. The others approached and attempted to pull him away, but Khnemu simply wrapped one of them and tossed him over his head. This caused the others to stare in fear and confusion, giving Khnemu enough time to smash both fists across the first cultist's face, sending him stumbling.

"Call the cops!" One yelled, running away. Let him run, Khnemu thought, he knew never to harm this land again. As all of the cultists stared with wide eyes, Khnemu had begun leaking sand from beneath his bandages, as it collected on the ground, he blew into the new pile, sending up a blinding cloud which he used to hide his approach to one of the beasts.

Tossing his bandages around its one massive arm, he pulled it off with a soft tug. Surprisingly, the creature did not bleed, instead growling as it was pulled apart. Eventually, he noticed a water-like substance dripping from the stump, the beast's blood. Pulling the arm along the ground, he tossed it towards the clear dome-like object which he assumed to be its eye. The arm smashed through with a crash, and he heard a loud human-like scream from behind him, presumably the beast's soul fleeing. Khnemu stared a moment, proud of his work, before blowing into the ground and flying away, aiming to find one of the beasts which had fled during the battle.

George made a sighing sound. With his free hand he deflected the spear thruster at him into the wall. He spoke a language not yet created. "Just great I ended up on Thanagar, frelling bird people." He accessed his internal harddrive for the language database. Filtering his voice modulator through the Thanagarian language database allowed him to speak to the bird man. "Hello Thanagarian. I am sorry for intruding on Thanagar. This infernal contraption is...." He stopped to judge the damage. "was pretty much jury rigged, I had no control of when and where it landed. It was supposed to take me to Earth's past, had no clue that it could take me to another planet. Is there a ship that is heading to Earth anytime soon or is this before the Thanagarian-Terran Alliance?" He stopped for a second. "Or is it the Terran-Thanagarian Alliance?" He placed his pistol back in his left leg. He Stepped back from the wall to allow the bird man to free his weapon. He waited for a reply. He just hoped it wasn't after the alliance had failed. That was the longest, bloodiest intergalactic war in history. It was basically the intergalactic version of the World Wars if it wasn't for that war Earth may have stood a chance against the unknown alien invaders.

Dr. Malacoda Zatanna

Malacoda's Mid-Town Penthouse

He had only slept a few hours when there was an ungodly racket coming from the outside - and so Malacoda rolled out the bed. He had been so quick to get into bed, he forgot to put up the wards - and he forgot about the bloody Lex Corp Building going up next door. He peered out of the window, where he had expected the see the workers busy - while readying his hand to tap the window - as so activate the wards. His eyes widened as he saw the being attacking the building equipment. His hands raised and straightened his tie - as he did so, a quick re-freshening spell covered his body, combing his hair and re-freshening his breath. He took a deep breath, and the next second he stood a few meters away from the being, holding his umbrella open across his head - seemingly keeping the sun off his head.

"Greetings. Might I inquire as to... why?" He noted the sigils, the bandages, the form - curious.

Location: Washington DC
Objective: Rescue the President

The police and the news was standing outside the whitehouse watching as men stood by the windows of the oval office waiting for the terrorists that captured the president and are holding him hostage. They made their demands and the expect the demands to be met. Suddenly there was the sound of a fighter jet overhead and someone parachuted down ontop of the whitehouse. And snuck in through the airvent on the roof.

The figure was wearing a military uniform and with a mask. The figure was knot to the public as the marine, a hero without any powers much like the cape crusader of gotham.

The Marine snuck through the airvent and when he reached the oval office he strategically placed smoke bombs at each of the vents set a timer for about 30 mins for them to go off and then started to work his way to the vents to see if there aere any more of the terrorists in the white house. He then heads back to the office and sets off the smoke bombs at one then busting down from the ceiling starts to combat the criminals. Once the smoke cleared the men were defeated and the president saved. The hero stands and salutes the president and turns to leave. Walking out of the white house to a military jeep parked ouside and drove off toward gotham

Khnemu had just prepared himself to ride on the winds again, before he suddenly heard a voice behind him. Out of nowhere, there a suddenly a man standing behind him. Khnemu would have jumped if he was still human, well, he was still human in a way, but he had long since become something different.

Stepping back onto the earth, he stared at the man with crooked neck. He was holding a strange contraption over his head to hold out the sun presumably, it was reflecting the light in a way he had never truly seen on anything but water or gold. Whatever it was, it bothered Khnemu.

"Do you not see? I've saved your home from this demon." He said, motioning to the corpse of the great beast that he had felled with a single blow. "You can live without fear now, the land can be healed and the skies will empty of this terrible smoke." He rolled up the bandages on his wrists, pulling them tight and clenching his fist.

Dr. Malacoda Zatanna

Lex Corp. Gotham

Malacoda looked at the man, clearly proud of his efforts. Clearly either very stupid or very naive. Perhaps it would be best to treat him like a child then. "Alas, that beast was quite a tame one. While it might have been a bit brash and unruly, it serves as a beast of burden - easily wielding power thousands of times that of horses. The people of my culture (HE indicated to the world around himself) have collectively decided to humor the negative aspects in lieu of the wonders we could construct with its power. (HE pointed to the city) This entire city had been constructed within a hundred years. quite the feat... for a society without publically sanctioned slaves." Malacoda stepped a bit forwards, scraping the bottom of his one foot against the gravel for a moment, while he looked at the polished brown leather glinting in the sun. "Whether or not our hubris will actually lead to our downfall remains to be seen. What brings you to Gotham?"

Khnemu tilted his head at the mention of the beast being tamed, he couldn't imagine why it had been digging up the earth if they wanted to build up, but then of course, he had never been a laborer. The word "slavery" also confused Khnemu, yes, Thoth had taught him the word and its meaning, but that didn't mean Khnemu understood the meaning. Ownership of another human? Preposterous! The servants were all of Egypt, why would they have to be treated like horses? Khnemu walked up close to the man and examined him from about and inch away from his face.

"That beast was poisoning your air, sorcerer," He said, smirking under his mask. It was quite obvious the man was a sorcerer, judging by his sudden appearance and lack of fear at his actions. The man's reaction would still be enjoyable to watch. "I have come to this city as it is one of the last places I haven't been. I awoke ten days ago and for those ten days I have wandered the land, searching for threats to this land that I swore to protect so long ago. My name is unnecessary, but I have been called the Desert Beast by those who discovered me.

He had yet to figure out what empires still existed in this world, he had been more focused on the earth and what had dwelled on it since his absence. As the man had been the first he had sustained a conversation with, he decided to ask.

"Tell me, sorcerer, does the grand kingdom of Egypt still stand as the gods willed it? Do the pharaohs still rule as divine kings over men? And if they are gone, who stands in their place?"

Malacoda gave a bit of a grim smile and he turned from the other and looked out over the city, before walking towards the wreck, tapping at it with his shoes. He began speaking without looking at the supposed 'desert beast' - "Dr. Malacoda Zatanna - Charmed. As to your inquiries, yes - it stands, but the rule and climate remains quite... strained. It's position has lessened of late. No gods beyond those created by humanity now rule over them - us... if you are looking for a name - then I suppose I would name Capital - lest I risk sounding a bit of a cynic. In regards the poison... we know. At first we did not, and now we pretend that it is some calculated risk worth betting on. We have made a world where it is realistically impossible to sustain ourselves without these (he kicked at a piece of the machine) - For now we must humor them until we can tame something else." He turned back to the being. "We should move from here - Under our laws you have committed a crime - and while I realize your position, I doubt my supposed peers will be as understanding. I can fix this and we can leave for some tea? Agreed?"

Well, one thing was for sure: this mechanical being was not magical or mystical in any way. If it were, Theran's spear would not have been so easily deflected. Nth metal possessed special properties for resisting and negating magical powers and energies, while possessing some of its own. Not that that actually mattered in this scenario. The robot thing started talking, first in a language Theran did not recognize, then in Thanagarian of all things. It tried to assure him that it was not here for battle nor for any hostile intention, but Theran wasn't completely convinced. The thing casually slaughtered a bus full of people in order to land here, and that was not something the Thanagarian was willing to overlook.

"You're not on Thanagar." Theran answered coldly, still pointing the tip of the spear at the robot once he was able to release it from being stuck. Clearly he was still not trusting this stranger, "Your ship didn't fail you, this is Earth." but something else the mechanical stranger said struck Theran as very odd, "But I know nothing of any alliance. Thanagar isn't exactly the friendliest planet in the galaxy." what was this so-called alliance the robot spoke of? Theran was certain that the only people of his planet to visit Earth were himself and the Hol's, and no one else. It did claim to be from the future... would Thanagar send forces to this planet in the future? "What do you know of Thanagar? I demand you tell me everything you know about this so-called Alliance you speak of!"

This is Gotham Dispatch. We have a 10-35 in progress at Lex Corp building site: 27th ST N and Centennial AVE, proceed with extreme caution, 10-40. SWAT in bound. Evacuate civilians, set up a two block perimeter. Know Hero on site Description: Black suit and slacks with an umbrella. Presumably trying to talk down the culprit. Culprit description: Brown cloak, wearing a mask and covered in bandages, uses sand manipulation. Do not disturb until advised or the situation escalates

during the conversation that had taken place a mix of police, SWAT, and Private Security members converging on the location of the Lex Corp building Site. Running without sirens and gave them a little bit of an edge, but were still noticeable while setting up around the two as the conversed. things looked to be going well.

"This is Earth? I may not be the best historian from my time but what I do know of History there were ever only two Thanagarians before the Alliance. Hawkman and Hawklady your armor does not match any known recordings of Hawkman. As for Earth-Thanagarian Alliance it was an alliance created in the year 4678 or thereabouts it was created as a deterrent to both the Earth's and Thanagar's enemies who were growing bolder and with the Green Lantern Corps devastated from the Corps War it lacked the clout and manpower to be effective at anything than dealing with small time stuff. It worked for about two hundred years but eventually like all alliances it fell apart, the whys and hows are not exactly known. Thanagar claims Earth attacked first, Earth claims Thanagar attacked first. What I do know by the end of the war Thanagar and Earth were both nearly destroyed and within ten years Earth was conquered in a day by an alien that not even Green Lantern Corps knew about and they claim to know every alien species. Thanagar according to the records I hacked was outright destroyed when they proved to much of a pain in the ass. There wasn't even enough left to make a decent sized asteroid."

"I would like to correct one assertation you made earlier. I am not a robot, I am a cyborg. My body is from that of the alien invader's army of combat androids, it would harvest brains and use them as computers for it's war machines. I am a hacker, I unleashed a virus that saved my mind and others from being formatted and gave us control of these abominations. I came back in time to save my planet. I was hoping to save the alliance from falling apart but I had no idea when or where this device would land. I was a passenger in a ship being thrown about time like a rag doll. I could have easily ended up in the middle of T-Rex's stomach or at the bottom of the ocean. Speaking of the oceans are they as blue as the stories for long ago say. In my time the oceans were either dried up or brown toxic sludge. Even if we weren't slowly being slaughtered by the alien invader we were going to be dead in a few years anyway from all the toxins created by the Terran-Thanagarian War. I never seen one of your kind before in person. Always old archives from before and during the war, none of which I was allowed to see. They didn't do your kind justice. Makes me sad to know that your species is extinct in my time. Hopefully my presence here can avoid the fate of our two species." If he was capable of shedding a tear he would. "Anyway since this is Earth I need to speak with the Justice Coalition. They were the group that formed after several years after the disbandment of the Justice Brotherhood of the 1940s." The fact that the Thanagarian was still pointing his spear at him forced George to disengage the locking mechanism holding his Electro Knife within his forearm to allow him to quickly release it if necessary. Doing so would not change anything about his appearance. "My official designation is Combat Anroid 3645. That means I am 3,645th human to have their brain harvested and put into a Combat Android body. That is more than two-thirds of Earth's population in my time. By the time I actually left seven-eighth's of Earth's population was turned into Combat Androids. You can call me George though."

Khnemu seemed displeased at the mention of the beasts being necessary, but he quickly cowed at the mention of authorities coming, in his day, thievery meant you risked losing a hand if you were caught, and now he had slayed one of their beasts of burden, which usually cost more than just a hand. As he was facing away from the side road, Khnemu managed not to catch one of the police vehicles rolling around the block.

"I would have no choice, hopefully this 'tea' is a delicious meal, I've never been served it myself. Another note, I would be able to move us to your home if you are not in the possession of a horse or other beast of burden." He said in his same monotonous voice, his body hunched and his fists clenched in a pose that was near-animalstic.

Malacoda, who had noted the police - surreptitiously held out a hand to them - the universal sign for calm. Then he reached out, and closed the umbrella. He again turned to the broken machine and his voice rang out over the site - "Lacinahcem tsaeb fo nedrub, nekorb no eht dnuorg - emoceb elohw ecno erom - eb sa ouy erew erofeb yb siht norom uoy erew dnouf!" He could feel his limbs complain as he cast another rather complicated spell within the span of 24 hours - but he felt some satisfaction at seeing the machine quickly reassemble. As the final pieces set together, he felt faint for a moment and had to catch himself with his umbrella. Using it as a crutch he walked over to the man. "There. No problems anymore... save a few hours wasted labor. Please follow me." Without waiting for the man he walked over to the police and the swat teams. He lightly amplified his voice so it reached all of them. "The cloth covered man comes from a different age - and was alarmed and confused for a movement, and lashed out accordingly. I have set right his wrongs. We have to be off, on matters of utmost importance - and can not linger! Thank you for your brave and continued efforts to make safe the world in this dark time! Farewell!" He twirled his umbrella and suddenly both of them vanished. He found it very hard to not grimace at his false gratitude - but thought it the best way to placate them.

They suddenly stood in a beautiful apartment, filled with books and art - wood and marble covered most of the surfaces and light flooded the spaces through the large windows. Malacoda walked over to a chair, struggling to stay upright with his umbrella - before falling into the leather bound throne. He pointed to the other chair - before whistling a short tune. A moment later he could hear the tea being prepared in the kitchen. "Please sit, and we can talk."

Sitting down in the odd room, Khnemu was flummoxed at the presence of lights that seemed to let out the same radiance as a flame, and how this man could manage to light his home despite not seeming to be royalty. He was terrified of the loud whistling that came out of the kitchen, though Malcoda's calm demeanor set him at ease. Pulling off his mask, he revealed a lip-less mouth with rotted gums and yellow teeth, sand pouring from his mouth a moment before it was clean.

"I apologize for my appearance, the years have been cruel." He said as he unwrapped his arms, green and stitched up heavily. He did not reveal his goggles, which seemed embedded into his head, nor his cloak, for fear of transforming accidentally.

"That language you spoke when you fixed the beast," he said quietly, "I have never heard it, and the knowing god Thoth taught me all of this planet's languages. How do you know this language?" He questioned, suspicion in his mind.

Malacoda frowned at the sand but seemed utterly at ease at the man's visage. He sat back in his chair and felt the stuffing behind the leather begin to subtly move, and knead at his back - he fought back a groan. "My magic, and the magic of my family - well rather the magic my family prefers to use as we have always been proficient in it - is bound by intent and vocalization of said intent. In order to avoid unintentional use, we have created an anti-language of sorts - in which we bind our intent. A venerable Antithesis, or mirror language if you will. I only use it when other magics wont do - as it tends to drain me. I am more proficient in the long tern enchanting of objects." He looked over to the side where a tray flew into the room - carrying perfectly brewed Breakfast tea, with a few biscuits and salted crackers garnished with cheeses and jams. "I am sorry, but this is the best I can do for now. My mind is already strained as it is." He reached out and took a cup before directing the platter to the other. "As for your appearance... I have done a few studies on who might have very well been some of your peers, even some of your kings a few years ago. Decay phases me not." He took a sip of the tea and groaned - sinking further into his chair.

Khnemu grabbed the tea slowly, staring at it for a moment. With a shrug, he poured it into his mouth before sputtering and spewing it from his mouth.

"Gods above, what kind of masochist would drink this? My tongue feels like it's been set alight!" He complained, his tongue flopping out of his lip-less mouth with a wet slap. Shaking his head, he wiped up the spilled drink with his cloak and leaned onto his elbows.

"Apologies, I'll just go get myself some water." He said, wandering towards the door and opening it slowly, looking down both sides of the hall, he again sighed.

"No well? Will wonders never cease, I'm beginning to dread this new world already." Turning back and closing the door, he made a "bleh" noise and again let out his tongue.

"You had something you wished to discuss?" he asked, again sitting.
