Hello Parent or Guardian of Student (Xxxxxxxx),

We at Hogwarts would like to welcome you to a very special opportunity. At the conclusion of this year we are excited to invite some of our students on a special field trip. As many of you know we have enjoyed the company and guidance of our newest History of Magic Professor Harsiesi. He has decided to offer a once in a lifetime adventure to students including your own. He would like to invite (Xxxxxxxx) on a two and a half week long adventure through the ancient and magical lands of Egypt.

Professor Harsiesi and the group of students will be allowed to accompany a field team exploring a newly discovered magical oasis city found deep in the heart of the desert. Students will be allowed to earn both school credits and experiences otherwise not allowed at through our normal school curriculum. As this would be a special activity we must first get your approval for the student before extending the invitation to them as well. This opportunity is only available to students who have passed their 4th year courses.

Professor Harsiesi walked down the great hall of Hogwarts with a kick in his step. He had just gotten an owl from his friends at the dig site in Egypt with the go ahead to take the kids on a very special trip. Granted the entire trip was special and considering how many forms needed to be signed for the trip to get the okay.

Turning past the final table he took a few moments to enjoy the complete tranquility of the school without students. Of course the place was better when full of children, but without the chaos and chatter it felt like a sober tomb to knowledge. It had been enjoyable to teach this year as a guest professor, but the entire year had been a trial of sorts and it left Harsiesi unsure if he was going to return.

“Are you ready Professor?” A voice spoke echoing down the halls. “After all the sands of time wait for few…” Standing at the center of the hall was the headmaster. He wore his standard robes and a warm smile.

“Yes I am headmaster. Have you come to see me off?” Harsiesi asked. He knew the answer was a two part, but didn’t pry. Throughout the year many of the students and other educators had asked for demonstrations of some of the ancient magic he was a practitioner of. He also remembered mentioning he was using a sand portal to travel back to Egypt.

As few used them anymore the headmaster's curiosity combined with the responsibility to see someone out of Hogwarts likely required him to see Harsiesi off. The two made their way to Harsiesi’s office where his messenger bag and several large jars of sand rested on his desk with names of different cities on them.

“So how does one execute the sand travel Professor?” The headmaster asked looking at the jars of sand.

“Rather old fashion really.” Harsiesi said. “Most of the sand has already been worked on by my friend. In the past these weren’t so much portals as they were escape bags. A merchants would use them to escape barbarians or sudden weather catastrophes.” Grabbing his bag and then a jar of sand he unscrewed its top.

“The sand only takes you back to where it was originally taken from. So this sand was collected from Alexandra” He pointed to the name written in the sand ” Where our trip will start. You simply take the sand and…” Harsiesi held the jar above his head. “Pour it over you. The sand breaks you down with it and by the time it all comes out of the jar you are traveling to the sands origin. Of course there is the itching…” Harsiesi paused and then quickly put the jar down.

“What itching?” The headmaster said with a sudden frown while watching his professor take several giant gulps of water from a glass. “Is there some sort of lingering side effects?”

Harsiesi laughed and shook his head. “O no it is nothing that sinister. It is just that if you don’t drink water right before you do it feels like a million scarab beetles are crawling all over your body.” He then put the glass of water down and grabbed the jar once more and with a single motion bought the sand up and poured it out over himself. A moment later the jar fell into a small pool of sand and the professor nowhere to be found.

“I suppose a house elf will need to clean this up…” The headmaster muttered.

The morning sun was something all teenagers cursed, but on this particular sunrise Devin was especially upset. It meant he had stayed up all night reading and was only now realizing how tired he was. Closing his book and looking around his room he felt the magnetic draw to his bed start to take hold. He knew it wasn't going to work. Looking at his watch he realized he only had 2 hours before he was required to travel for the trip and he still needed to finish packing.

Devin fought the urge to go to sleep and instead pulled out a few more boxers and socks and threw them into his messenger bag. The letter told the students to pack light so he was given a bag by his wizard uncle who said that if Devin could fill it he would give him a new broom. Of course it was a magical bag and could likely fit everything in the house. Happy about the gift Devin started to take a little more liberty in what was needed for the trip.

An hour later and Devin was starting to get really sleepy. He ran downstairs and found what he was looking for. An ice cold can of coca cola. He didn't normally drink soda so early, but this was an emergency. "So this is what you are having for breakfast?" He heard his mother say.

"Honestly I would say you are as bad as your father, but we both know how much coffee he drinks." She said. She gave him a hug and then started to move about the kitchen. "I am so exited for you this is going to be amazing! That Professor Harsiesi may have finally found a way to make Magical History interesting. He is bringing it to the 21st century." Devin's mom started to make pancakes which was his favorite.

"I'll be right back I am going to finish packing!" Devin shouted after finishing his soda and running up stairs. Fifteen minutes later he was dressed and coming back down with his bag and everything else. "Did the letter say anything about what we had to wear?"Cause if not I think I am going to just wear jeans and a shirt..." His mom shook her head while the family of 5 sat down and had a fun filled breakfast. At the end the family cleaned the table and got ready to see their oldest off on his new adventure.

"I think it says you pour the sand over your head on you..." Devin's father was reading the sand instructions. For the last several minutes the goodbyes had been done and they were now figuring out how to work the sand. They unscrewed the top and handed the jar to Devin.

"You have water?" Devin's mom asked.

"Yea I had some at breakfast." Devin said with a smile. "Bye everyone. Love you!" Devin said and then turned the jar upside down and felt the sand pull him down with it. The sensation was weird at first and then started to get more and more prickly. It felt like a million ants were climbing on him and without a full physical body he couldn't scratch them off. He couldn't yell which is good cause he would have likely shouted at least several dozen curse words if he could. As soon as he couldn't see his family he started to see new images come into the light.

The light got brighter and brighter until he could feel his arms move again. The first thing he did was start to scratch himself all over. The itching was almost numbing with prickles shooting all over his body, "What is going on!" He shouted as he kept dancing and itching. Suddenly Professor Harsiesi ran up and gave Devin a glass of water. He motioned for him to drink it and as quickly as he did Devin felt the itching start to go away.

"Someone didn't read the instructions?" Professor asked in a mused tone. "Not the best start Devin." He then smiled and stepped back. "But you are the first to arrive and there are always points for those who are punctual." He smiled and then pulled back a rug to expose a long open hallway full of shops and people. "I would like to be the first to welcome you Devin to the Grand Bazaar. As you are the first to arrive we can wait in this small shop for the others to arrive. Please clean up after yourself as well." The professor then motioned to Devin's feet where he saw a puddle of sand.

Quick as he could he flicked his wand out and gathered the sand in the jar. Amazed by what laid ahead he decided to turn his attention to the store and looked for others to start arriving soon. There was a nice shop owner who came over to him and offered him some tea. Devin politely accepted and took a sip. 'Bitter!' he thought as he forced his body to accept the liquid.

Dag awoke, alone in the house, as usual. He glanced at the clock on his nightstand, a standard digital display of the time from the local Tesco. It wasn’t considered fairly rudimentary within his family, but why not use the odd Muggle device to your advantage? Honestly, there were simply some things that the Muggles did better than anyone in the world of Witchcraft and Wizardry could do.

The time was 6:06 am. He had enough time to simply lay there for a little while, to let himself think. He idly wondered where his parents were and what they were up to to; he had an idea of their activities. They were very secretive towards him, and he knew they meant well as far as he was concerned. They’d provided him with every comfort he needed, but it didn’t take a diviner to know that Death Eaters will always be Death Eaters. It wasn’t that he disapproved entirely of that, he just figured that maybe keeping a lower profile was a good idea. Alas, even if they got into trouble or aroused suspicion within the ranks of the Aurors, well... It would just mean another surprise visit from the Ministey of Magic. Life goes on.

At 7:00 am on the dot, Dag climbed out of bed and meticulously arranged the sheets and comforter in a neat and tucked fashion so that’s it was smooth and without the slightest wrinkle. He went through the routine of cleaning himself up, and double checked his supplies. He didn’t need much, and whatever he was missing he was sure that he could acquire from the Bazaar when he arrived. He threw on a lightly blue patterned plaid button-up and a pair of black jeans. He labored for a moment over which shoes to wear, and eventually just resigned to a pair of Nike trainers he’d had for years. Light, but sturdy, if a bit worn. Easy to repair in a pinch.

Once again he re-read the instructions for the Sand Portal. He had a glass of water, mildly wondered if he should have more, but decided against it. With his bag slung over one shoulder, Dag tipped the jar over his head, and off he went.

He was met with a blinding flash before being able to take in the scene of the Bazaar before him so that when he arrived he had his arms up to shield his eyes. Professor Harsiesi and Devin were there. Unless anyone else had arrived that he couldn’t see, he had been the second to show up. Dag didn’t know Devin very well at all; they were in different houses, but Hogwarts was a small place, all things considered. He didn’t expect to see any completely new faces.

“Morning.” He muttered while stepping out of his sand pile. He’d clean that up, noticing that Devin had no sand residue of his own. It was then that he involuntarily began to itch his neck. “Should have had more of the water, I guess.” He added placidly.

”Bunny, Bunny Honey, your uncle needs your help before you jaunt off on your little trip called her Mom from downstairs using a modified Sonorus spell that cast the user’s voice to a known location this location being Amelia’s room.

The Blue haired girl’s rooms was the scene of chaos as clothing flew about along with books and other odds and ends each item seeking its proper place after Amelia’s packing for her trip; ”Be there in a shake mom” she called out as she saw the last of her things make their proper landings

Soon she was downstairs in the cellar of the great building that was her home Underhill House. In his little workshop was her Uncle Ted bent over an unusual item to be found inside a wizarding home; a TV.

”Oh so glad you’re here Bunny, I am having the devil trying to get this thing to work correctly; I believe it’s the power supply. said the tall handsome widower who was her Uncle Teddy
.

Amelia looked at the second most important man in her life after her dad her blue eyes glowing with amusement. He was still too old school to not know that onmag electricity was a force that didn’t respond well to the confines of magic but to the laws of physics an arcane art that worked under different laws. She leaned in close and picked up a multimeter and began testing the board as she looked at the schematics.

”You are such a help Bunny soon I’ll be able to watch my shows in a more lifelike fashion unlike the nomag version of TV” said the handsome man who was hooked on shows he’d grown fond of after visiting the home of the neighbors 3 winters ago to help the older couple who lived there during an Ice Storm.

”Uncle Teddy you can’t just try and bypass this circuit with a modified firefly glyph, it isn’t actually lighting. It would be better to concentrate of the display’s function than the power supply, that’s fine so long as you use father’s adapter” she says pointing to a device that her father had built to supply nomag electronics with power.

”But it needs recharging every 3 hours and that’s always when the shows are getting good” he complained

”Then go next door and watch it with the Witerhuses, I’m sure Rebeca wouldn’t mind you visiting” Said Amelia with a smile mentioning the divorced daughter of the mentioned family who’d just moved back in with her parents.

Her uncle blushed at Rebecca's name and the idea that he sit with her as they watched the onmag shows that now held his interest. She was a pretty woman with a very open mind who Amelia and her mom had had to tea several times after hearing mention of her. They had been as taken with her as had been the shy Teddy and both had decided the two lost souls needed each other.

It took Amelia about thirty minutes to figure out how far Teddy had deviated from her father’s plans and correct them and another twenty minutes to make him promise he wouldn’t try and go off reservation again.

When she popped upstairs she was met by her parents who each hugged her and said their goodbyes then came her Uncle Teddy, Grandmother Alice Hawkmoon, and then the staff.

Her mom stepped up to Amelia and held out a rather large glass of water saying ”Here you are Bunny, fresh melted from Iceberg Ice straight from the heart. I did a bit of research on the method of Sand travel and found that all sources say this is the best method of preventing any of the unpleasant effects which might otherwise result from the old style port.

Now drink it all down before you go and promise you won’t take any unnecessary chances while you are away”

”Mother first Witch second” said Amelia as she took the glass teasing her mom for her overprotective mother.

Then she drank down every bit of the water before picking up her Catpack which held all her clothing and other items in it’s magical space. Her dad did the honors of pouring the sand over her in a precisely measured rate showing his own attention to detail and caring.

There was a flash as was expected and the moments when one expected to be still coalescing and unable to move but aware of their surroundings. She was so happy to find it was a bazzar one of the oldest forms of shopping malls and hoped there might be a chance to do a bit of shopping or at the least a look around.

”Pulvairi expelramos” she says cheerfully as she cast a house cleaning spell that expelled dust from objects riding herself of any residue from the port’s material component.

Near her stood the Professor and a Housemate Devin Coal along with a boy whom she thought was named Dagwood of house Slytherin so being the ever so polite girl that she was Amelia smiled saying
”Hope I haven’t kept you gentlemen waiting”

As his students started to arrive Professor Harsiesi welcomed them each with a big smile and greeting. He laughed as Devin immediately began to attack his own itching body with his fingernails. He watched as the tea helped alleviate the rash of itchiness. He then saw Devin do a quick clean up of the sand and returned it to the jar it had come in.

The next student to arrive was Dag one of his NEWT students selected to join the trip. He was excited to have him join as he hoped having an older student would mean he had an ally for when the students get a little too rowdy. Walking over to where the sand dropped him off Harsiesi smiled. "Welcome Hereson. I hope you found the trip enjoyable." He then extended a hand and shook his students hand. "I hope you have brought your sunscreen. Your kind have a habit of burning just a little easier than most." He of course talking about those from England.

After his oldest Slytherin was given his tea by the shop owner he was joined by the arrival of Amelia Hawkmoon" Another smile ran across his face as he welcomed her. "I believe these gentleman have the patience to wait for all our students to arrive." He then motioned for tea to be brought out for all as he joined them in their conversation already in progress.

With there now being two other students in the shop Devin walked back to where they were all appearing. He had left the first cup of tea he had been offered by the counter and was bemoaned to see more coming and then offered to him. Not to be rude he accepted it and this time asked for as much honey as they had and was happy to have plenty provided. While he prepared his second cup of tea he sparked up a conversation with those that had arrived.

"Dag I didn't know you were going to be joining this trip." He said with a nod. They were then joined by Amelia and instinctual he stood up a little taller. They had crossed paths plenty of times through the years but only in the last few did Devin really notice her as more than just a student but also a gal. He didn't invent hormones alright?

"Amelia hey!" That itch is something awful right?" Devin seemed to have not noticed that neither of the two had been as itchy in their arrival as he had. While perfectly friendly Devin was far to excited to be particularly observant.

"Yes, professor, I brought that along with me." Dag replied as he shifted the bag from his shoulder to the ground beside him. "Even if I hadn't, burning is a specialty of mine." He added, remembering that he'd established a bit of a reputation within Slytherin for setting alight the clothing of his fellow housemates when they were cross with him. That had earned him enough detentions that he seldom did it anymore, but every time it had been worth it.

Holding the open jar in one hand and his wand in another, Dag crisply recited "Tergeo." with his wand pointed at the sand. The sand siphoned from the ground and back into the jar with a little directional influence. Taking the tea, he sipped at it and let the flavor settle around his tongue. Bitter, he thought to himself, but continued to drink on regardless.

"How could I refuse?" He said, responding to Devin, "I've never been to Egypt before, let alone this hemisphere of the world. Besides," he said as he crouched down to rest his elbows on his thighs, "I never spend much time around classmates. This may well be my last opportunity to find out whether or not it's worth the trouble."

When Amelia arrived, he gave her a slight nod and a wave. "Hawkmoon." He said simply since he couldn't conjure up her first name. Devin of course changed that for him as he greeted her. Amelia. I can remember that. In fact, the only reason he knew anything about her at all was the shocking blue hair she sported, and the names his housemates had given her. Those didn't need repeating here. He thought she was either a Ravenclaw or a Hufflepuff, and Devin was a Gryffindor - of that he was certain. He'd never really bothered to develop much rapport with them, but perhaps this trip was a good chance to change that. Rivalries between the houses within Hogwarts tended to run high with tension at times, but that didn't mean that Dag was surrounded by idiots or enemies. Then again, they could very well be idiots, but would they be here if they were? We'll find out. He thought, and he chuckled a little.

"Professor Harsiesi," he started, "Who else is joining us?"

Amelia smiled at Professor Harsiesi taking the offered tea with a smile as she examined her surroundings then she heard Devin her housemate call out to her "Amelia hey!" That itch is something awful right?" he said.

”My mother was forewarned by her research that there would be a side effect if you weren’t properly hydrated so she had me drink Heart of Ice water taken by one of my uncle’s from an Iceberg two days ago; seems she was as she usually is right” she said in a cheerful voice before adding ”I bought scones, biscuits, chattanooga dark fudge, and muscadine-cranberry tarts”

She swings her catpack off and reaches into a front pocket of the animal shaped backpack and sets out nomag plastic tubs that have been painted in silver sigils and a sigil stylized label such as scones or cookies. She spreads it all out to whomever wants in the traditional greeting of a Puff girl being a good hostess as she shows off skills her house finds comforting.

”Please everyone I brought more than enough” Another staple phrase of the girl most likely girl’s Prefect Puff

Timezones sucked, big time. That was the one repetitive thought running through his mind like a broken record as Killian yawned for the umpteenth time. Dawn hadn't even broken the horizon but here he was, already up, smoothing out his unruly hair as he glanced at the mirror one last time. Decked in a dark grey T-shirt with long sleeved rolled up to his elbows, navy jeans and his broken-in sneakers, he looked as though he was dressed to visit his friends in the neighbourhood rather than travel halfway around the world. The dark eyebags sharply contrasting with his pale skin made him look sleep-deprived. Not his fault America was five hours behind England time. Students - and the Professor heading this trip - from Hogwarts would travel to Cairo according to the time over there, and although the letter did state timezones would be taken into account for students from schools besides Hogwarts, Killian made it a habit to be on time, even if it meant screwing up his biological clock.

Reaching down to touch the brown leather pouch at his left hip, looped through his belt, Killian slotted two fingers through the closed flap and felt around to ensure his potions kit and medical supplies were present and prepared, untempered after he packed it the morning before. His wand pouch - and the wand itself - was strapped to his right wrist, a familiar weight he was unaccustomed to feeling during the holidays. Ilvermony was rather strict regarding the rule of leaving wands behind when the semester holidays came about. What a relief it was when he was permitted to bring it along for this trip. Surrounded by other witches and wizards he would be, Killian still disliked the thought of being in a new environment without some form of physical reassurance. Potions and knowledge could only go so far without a wand, and the only wandless magic he could cast all revolved around the Art of Healing.

Checklist ticked, he reached down to haul his small enchanted backpack up, slinging it over his shoulders, fastening the clasp at his waist and tightening the strap. His necessities like a water bottle, extra clothes, some cash and the like were stored within. Whatever else he lacked, he could purchase it over there. Maybe.

"Huh, and here I thought I have to throw you out of bed." Aunt Chelsea's husky voice sounded from the doorway of his room. A part of him that didn't startle at the sudden appearance envied the way she sounded wide awake, despite the fact he knew she got less sleep than he did. Maybe it was a skill veteran detectives developed sometime during their career?

"Keep dreaming, Aunt. You haven't gotten the chance in five years and you sure as heck ain't getting the chance now." He said with a fond roll of his eyes even as he suppressed the urge to yawn again. "'sides, I don't want to be late. I'm sure the others wouldn't like to be kept waiting long. I can catch up on sleep later. Just let me get some coffee before I go and I'll be fine."

Trudging down towards the kitchen, he was pleasantly surprised to see a steaming cup of cappuccino on the counter, a thermal flask with what he definitely knows is more coffee sitting beside it. No meal was prepared, but it was normal. Killian never ate until he felt hungry, meaning he usually skipped breakfast as he didn't have an appetite shortly after waking. Murmuring a quiet thanks, he downed the beverage and wrapped his left hand around the flask, the other reaching for the jar of sand at the far corner. A hand slapped down across his knuckles, making him blink at Chelsea, eyebrow quirked in question.

His aunt clicked her tongue in mild exasperation. "Did you forget the instructions regarding sand travel? Drink some water first unless you want to be uncomfortable on top of sleepy."

"Ah, right. Thanks." Sheepishly, he poured a glass of water and downed it in a swallow before turning to the older woman and giving her a quick hug. "Take care. I'll keep in contact. If possible."

Stepping into the middle of the kitchen, he took off the jar's lid and shut his eyes as he dumped the sand over his head. The drop of his stomach was similar to portkeys, but the strange sensation of his body flaking as the tiny grains of sand whisked him away through tim and space was distinctly unfamiliar and shudder-inducing. He didn't wish to know how the entire process played out, not if it appeared as weird as it felt.

It seemed like only a few seconds passed before his feet touched solid ground once more and Killian tentatively opened an eye to glance around. The first thing that registered wasn't the other individuals gathered before him - although it should be - but the ancient-looking nature of his surroundings. This should be the Grand Bazaar, right? It certainly looked...different, with its rough stone walls and intricately carved pillars. Shops lined the streets and unique objects were sold at various booths, shaded from the blazing sun with large canvas roofs.

Finally looking his fill, he walked towards the small crowd inside a shop and gave a polite nod to the only adult there. "Good morning, Professor. I hope I did not keep you waiting long." Turning to the other students standing around, he greeted them with another nod and a shallow smile. "Morning to you too. Duyi Killian Song of Ilvermony. Call me Killian. I hope to get along with all of you for the duration of this trip."

The alarm on her digital clock began to sound at exactly five o'clock in the morning, but Zuri had already been out of bed for a little over an hour. "Shit, shit, shit," the young girl cursed under her breath as she hurried to turn off the blaring alarm. She fumbled around with the buttons for a while before deciding to just yank the plug out of the wall socket. After the loud, continuous beeping had ceased, she sat in silence for a bit, listening carefully to see if she'd woken up her parents. She soon decided that the couple were still fast asleep in their bedroom, and continued to prepare for the adventure that awaited her.

She'd spent hours the night before packing her things into her bag. Unfortunately for Zuri, the letter that she'd been given urged students to pack lightly, something that proved to be challenging for the girl. Zuri had never been one to "pack lightly," instead preferring to pack as much as she possibly could just in case something drastic were to happen. She'd tried to pack about seven different pairs of shoes and a bucket load of hair products before her mother convinced her to narrow the shoes down to just two pairs of sneakers, and to get her hair braided so that she wouldn't have to worry about things such as gel and curling cream. What she did manage to fit in the bag, however was an extra bottle of water, sunscreen, and about five more pairs of socks.

Now, dressed in a long-sleeved, black shirt, dark blue jeans, and a pair of old basketball shoes, Zuri slung her bag over her shoulder and made her way down the hall towards the kitchen. She wasn't surprised in the slightest to see her mother standing over the stove, cooking breakfast. "I didn't mean to wake you up," Zuri said as she dropped the pack onto the floor and gave her mum a tight hug from behind.

"Oh, dear, you didn't wake me up. I've been awake for hours," Katherine Wilson said, kissing her daughter on the forehead and refocusing her attention on the frying pan in front of her. "I wouldn't miss seeing my daughter off on her very first adventure. Besides, I figured you'd need a little something to eat before you left. Wouldn't want you to go on an empty stomach."

"You're the best," Zuri said before taking a seat at the dinner table. A few moments later, a steaming hot plate full of scrambled eggs and turkey bacon was placed in front of her. After she'd finished eating, her mother handed her a tall glass of ice water, which she gulped down quickly and handed back for a refill. The two of them had gone over the directions for the sand travel a couple of nights before, so her mother wanted to make sure that Zuri drank as much water as she could before it was time for her to go. After drinking Zuri finished the second glass of water, her mother handed her the jar full of sand. "I'll be back before you know it. Tell dad I said ban kwana," Zuri said to her mother, who simply nodded her head and smiled. In swift motions, Zuri slung her bag onto her shoulder, unscrewed the top of the jar, and dumped its contents over her head.

It was a weird sensation, to say the very least. The blinding flash of light caught her a bit off guard, but she stood strong nonetheless. In what seemed to only be a few seconds, the light grew brighter until she soon found herself standing again, feeling a slight itch on the back of her neck. She fought the urge to scratch as she took in her surroundings. It only took her a few moments to realize that what she was seeing was indeed the Grand Bazaar. "Whoa," the young woman said under her breath before snapping out of her trance and using her wand to clean up the pool of sand that lay at her feet.

Zuri then headed to the small group that had gathered in one of the nearby shops, instantly recognizing most of their faces. She arrived just in time to catch the ending of this Killian fellow's introduction. "Good morning, Professor," Zuri said before nodding curtly to each of them, "And good morning to you four. I hope I didn't keep you all waiting."

Professor Harsiesi was delighted to see the next and final member of their group arrive from the Sand. The look on student Zuri's face was the final piece to make his day. He had high expectations for everyone in the class including the addition of a student from beyond Hogwarts. In his time teaching at the school he found it rather odd so few of the students even knew of other schools let alone that there were other forms of teaching and learning magic.

A clap of his hand brought everyone from their tea hazed introductions to the ever expanding classroom that would be Egypt. "Hello everyone! Welcome to my home country of Egypt!" He had on his normal smile and pzazz his students had come to expect in his classroom. "As you can see we are in the heart of the Grand Bazaar one of the oldest muggle and magical market places in the world!" For your first assignment I want you to follow this map to the hotel. You have two hours to reach the goal." He then put a map down on the table in front of them. "I'll be one spell away if you need me, but you should be able to make it without much difficulty.?

With that the Professor walked over to a carpet near the doorway and sat down. "Time to fly." The students then watched as the carpet began to fly and shoot out the door and into the bright sun drenched sky.

Still crouched idly, Dag was wondering to himself concerning the human soul and what happened to it when you used certain methods of teleportation, such as the Sand Portal. The Sand Portal seemed to be an entirely different transportation method, much like the Muggle theory of deconstructing oneself into particles of energy to transmit across vast distances. They wondered about that very same thing, and it seemed as if the Sand Magic had seemed to deconstruct and then reconstruct the human body in order to carry the tiny bits over the distance. Of course, he could just ask, but Dag liked to think about this. If you can botch an Apparation, can you botch a Sand Transport? Muck up an Apparation and you could lose your arse. But with the sand portal, you could just lose tiny bits of yourself at a time. He thought to himself, and then became somewhat concerned with how he hadn't actually attempted to be meticulous about pouring an exact measurement of sand during the transport. Would have been easier if someone had helped, but I think I'm sorted just fine... He told himself, not quite believing it entirely.

At that precise moment, Killian entered the group, and Dag decided not to think about the subject anymore. He greeted Killian with a nod and a hello, momentarily mused to himself about what Ilvermorny must be like as a school sitting atop a mountainous peak - and whether or not they spent their time blowing things up as Americans seemed to be fond of that - and then Zuri entered. At that, he somewhat involuntarily stood up and straightened. In Dag's mind, it went without saying that there was a regal beauty about Zuri, one that he couldn't help but notice. It hadn't been the first time, either, and it hadn't always been a smooth event. Before he could say anything to her, Professor Harsiesi began laying out instruction for them, and placed out a map. And then, just like that, he took off on a carpet. Dag laughed a little as he flew away. He didn't really know what was so funny about a magic carpet, but he couldn't help but chuckle a bit at that.

He marched over to the map and peered closely at it, ardently trying to sense if there were any enchantments that might muck things up. It was the sort of thing he wouldn't put past a Hogwarts Professor, but to his disappointment he found none. Of course that didn't mean they weren't there, he just didn't detect any. To be better safe than sorry, he pointed his wand at the map and incanted "Aparecium!" Nothing else immediately showed up, so invisible ink wasn't likely used here. Oh well. He studied quickly for the hotel, and hung about for a moment to observe the other students. "Oi, Zuri, fancy a mad dash through Cairo with me?" He asked boldly, trying to catch her gaze.

The group was smaller than Devin had thought it would be. Through the rumor mill he expected a class of about 10 or so people. Then he remembered that while Professor Harsiesi was popular he taught an unpopular course. Most must have thought their summer was more important than a school trip for History of Magic. Still he wouldn't have cared if he was the only student. He was in Egypt and he feel how excited he was.

After the welcoming speech and the Disney exit by Professor Harsiesi the only thing left was the first assignment. Moving closer to look at the map Devin tried a few revealing spells and came up empty. "If we are in need of a code word I am drawing a blank..." He muttered to the group. He then heard Dag start talking about seeing the market and going with Zuri. "Before you leave I think you should make a copy of the map or something."

Devin then gave the map another look over. It seemed pretty straight forward. After the shop they would take a right and then a few more turns would have them at the hotel. Hopefully there wasn't too much crazy at the market for them to get lost in. Looking around at the team he was partnered with he gave a half smile that matched his tone. "So who wants to lead the way?" He then realized not everyone knew him as there was a student from another school with them.

"Hey my name is Devin." He said extending a hand to Killian.

Amelia looked at the offered map locating herself on it as she now stood. Familiar with maps from her family’s business as fishermen and merchant shipping. She took note of all the landmarks indicated on the map and the legend indicating distances and pulled from her pack a measuring tape to get a scale by which to fix her waypoints.
As she did this she Devin ask about leadership then introduce himself to the newcomer and foreigner. He was of obvious Asian descent, 5 foot 9 about 150 pounds with gray eyes and shaggy auburn hair that was more on top than on the sides, he was nice looking and might have many witches at Hogwarts setting their caps for him.
Amelia almost attended Livernmony till her mother’s decision to send her to Hogwarts but she did have a few friends that attended the school so she knew a little of the houses so she tried to place his so she might better understand the young man. So not knowing his House Amelia waited for the Devin to speak with him in the off chance he might divulge his house which is why she doesn’t step up and offer her services as Leader.

Zuri smiled and chuckled with delight as she watched their professor make his exit. It was an odd sight, one that she'd never seen before, so she couldn't help but be amused. After waiting for a couple of the other students to take a look at the map, Zuri marched up to peer at it herself. She wasn't all too familiar with maps, and hoped someone else would be able to lead the way even though it seemed to be pretty straightforward. She wouldn't want to be the one to blame if they ended up lost somewhere. "Well, I vote Amelia to lead the way. She seems like she knows what she's doing, yeah?" As she spoke, she watched with a raised brow as the other young woman pulled out measuring tape. Zuri wasn't entirely sure what it was that the girl was doing, but she decided to roll with it. After Dag tried to reveal any enchantments with a spell of his own, Zuri pulled her wand from the back that was slung over her shoulder.

Without another word, Zuri pointed the wand towards the map, taking a quick deep breath. "Geminio," the young woman said the duplication charm clearly, flicking her wand at the map and frowning when it didn't work. She tried twice more to no avail. It was just their luck that the map was immune to any form of duplication magic. Zuri cursed under her breath before tucking her wand away and catching Dag's gaze. The older boy stood just a few inches taller than Zuri, and was handsome in his own unique way. She couldn't help but smile and shake her head at the boy's sudden boldness. "Sure thing," she began with an apologetic shrug, "but looks like we'll all be sticking together. Duplication spells won't work on the map, so with only one copy, I think it'd be wise for us to not split up, right? Wouldn't want any of us to get turned around. This place is amazing." As she spoke, she peered out of the shop in which they all stood. She was eager to explore.

"Well I guess we should get cracking." Devin said as he scooped the map up. He looked it over to double check and saw they were supposed to take a left outside the shop. Once he stepped outside he seemed almost instantly accosted by street vendors of every kind. Some were selling magical trinkets while others promised wishes (Though the winks they gave made it less than likely they would come true). Parting through them Devin finally got to the middle of the walkway and took a look around.

The heat of the sun could be felt in the air while the small street length meant the buildings cast a cooling shadow. Still with all the shine and glammer of the market Devin felt his eyes blink more than once as he got used to things. As soon as this happened a massive fireball erupted from a street performer who then seemed to cast a spell and turn the fire into different colors. Soon enough like a puppet master he made the fire turn into different shapes and dance around for the amusement of those watching.

More street vendor seem to crowd around the fire show though these carried with them goods for those hungry or thirsty. Not wanting to get lost he looked around at the others and then back at the map. As soon as he did this the vendors gathered around this time armed with a helpful hint to the best shops, all seemed to be ran by their cousin or family. The noise got louder and louder until Devin put the map away again. "I think we should save the map for only in times of great need..." He said to the group. I remember we go left out the shop. Anyone remember what was after that?"
