D&D 5e - Hero Guard

There are many different reasons why one might have taken this job; a need for money, fame, the chance to get laid! The choice is yours as to why you decided to join the hero in the quest of a lifetime!

Hello, welcome to my D&D 5e campaign where your characters of all size and beginnings, will join the famous hero in their quest to do something. We will be starting at level one and we will be using the 20 point buy for stats. And you will all be given a magical item unique to your characters! The only thing I need is a link to the character sheet, preferably from Myth-Weaver or something.

Combat will be done in the OOC which will take time, yes, but actual posts will just be a summary of what your character will be doing which will include your rolls and the likes. However, the more flare and style you put into anything will make the journey all the better!

You can use (almost) anything, the standard stuff, Uneartherd Arcana, but your CS must be approved by me before anything. PM them to me, or post them here. This will be started if I can at least 4 players, preferably 5-6 for a start.

That will be all for the time being! Join the Hero and do awesome, and unnameable things!

If she can charm a locked door into opening itself then she belongs on a team with the hero! *electric guitar strum*

She also helped to take down a apocalypse cult by getting separated from the rest of her party, accidentally getting recruited into the cult and then turning up wearing cult robes during the final battle, where she used illusions to make hitting the party all but impossible in the crowd.

Fun times.

EDIT: I just noticed this, but doesn't Genni still have 5 points left to spend? You gave them 20 points, but I count 15 out of 20 used. And was the human ability score increased used?

We're using Pathfinder's point buy rules, which is a bit weird, as the amount of points increase the more you put into the score. Using a calculator such as this may make the math a lot easier. That being said, I do believe @Genni did forget to take into account her human ASIs.

Noxolo's a pre-existing character, rather than one generated with the points buy in mind. Thanks for the heads up on the ASI though, this was taken into account when I rolled her stats but using the Pathfinder rules she's coming up a little short.

Hmm, where to invest the +2..? Should I buff her Dexterity, which in turn would give her a +6 Acrobatics? Or should I increase her Constitution, increasing her health and improve the effect of her War Caster trait..?

The Variant Human ASIs are only a +1 to two scores, and doesn’t include adding +2 to one score, rom what I understand.

@Cu Chulainn The varient D&D 5e rules are closer to the Pathfinder rules, where instead of getting +1 to all ability scores as with the standard D&D 5e racial rule you get +2 to one ability score (although in D&D 5e this can be split between two abilities if you want, giving +1 each), an additional skill proficiency and a feat.

EDIT: Actually, checking the exact wording of D&D 5e ("Ability Score Increase. Two different ability scores of your choice increase by 1." - Player's Handbook, page 31) means you have to take the +1 for separate abilities, unlike Pathfinder where you take +2 for one ability.

Luckily when I made Noxolo with D&D 5e I used the varient rules, which gave her a skill (not sure which one I went with for this bonus, might be her Acrobatics) and the War Caster feat, but since her ability rolls were relatively low the +2 ability bonus still leaves her short of the 20pts buy.

Actually with her current stats, she has 20 points spent without taking into effect any racial ASI

@Lauder Yes, but only by coincidence. Her ability scores were generated by dice rolls and have the ASI already included.

To bring her in line with the points buy I’m going to have to add the extra +2 in somewhere. Just trying to decide where would best suit her character.
