At first, Sylvia was worried that they weren't going to listen and wouldn't let them go. However, it turned out that they were allowed to go with Yorik. She listened as Aisha made it clear that they can accompany Yorik, so long as they don't ruin the investigation. She gave a salute to Aisha after she asked them if they understood what she was telling them, and answered seriously, "Loud and clear, Aisha. We won't get in his way, nor bother the townsfolk," She then looked to Yorik expectantly and she informed him, "We're ready to head out when you are," She did feel kind of impatient as she looked at him. She didn't want to waste any more time. She was worried that the more they waited, the more likely they'll find the three guards dead.

Yorik smiles and grabs his shield. “Alright, let’s bust sum faces!” Yorik charges out of the barracks as Atisha grumbles under her breath. Following Yorik towards the mill, it was a few hours after noon, and it seems like business in the market was starting to pick up as people were leaving work to do their shopping. Yorik was loud and imposing, telling people to clear away as he marched towards the mill.

At the mill, it was a large building next to the river. There was a water mill attached to the building and one windmill standing on the other side of the river. There were many workers going about their business there moving sacks of grain that were going to be grounded down, carts and wagons were going to market, and just people milling about. Upon seeing Yorik many of the workers were confused and concerned, having not expect a guardsman to arrive. The Orc turns to the group.

“Now I know Atisha said not ya get involved, an I’m sure if I tell ya ya do sumthin we both gunna get an earful. But practically speakin, Ye all better at this Sorta thing den I am. So we gunna look around da mill together, see if we can’t figure out wots about ta happen.”

Sylvia smiled a bit at how Yorik enthusiastically led the way to the mill. She didn’t hesitate to follow after him, not even hearing Aisha’s mutterings as she did. Thanks to Yorik, it didn’t take long for the group to reach the mill. She noticed the workers were here, but didn’t really say anything to them. She listened as Yorik spoke, and she nodded, “Alright. Let’s keep our eyes peeled for anything unusual,”

She then looked to Dinah and she told the familiar, “We’ll need your help as well, Dinah. Look for any weird cracks or symbols. Meow if you find anything,”

She commented to Yorik, “We’ll have to leave talking to the mill workers to you, since we’re not allowed to,”

After speaking, Sylvia immediately started looking around the mill hoping to find anything indicating a trap door, or a symbol related to the cult. Anything draconic might help if Sylvia could find it.

Your team splits up to look around. Yorik goes to question some of the workers gruffly. You can tell most don't really know why he's here and are intimidated by him, both because he is a guardsman and because he is an orc. He towers over most of the men, many whom themselves were quire burly, and even other orcs didn't look quite as imposing as he did in his armor. Looking around the Mill mostly reveals much of what you'd expect of a mill: lots of bags of grain, some processed some not, machinery in the form of gears and parts needed to fix up the mill, and more confused workers. Soon a old woman approaches Yorik with much more attitude than the rest of the workers, and from her outfit she was obviously not just a worker but some form of supervisor.

While the party was searching you'd get a telepathic ping from Dinah. She seems to have found something, though she lacked the means to actually tell you what it is. But whatever it was, you could feel her presence towards the back of the mill, in the direction of the river.

Sylvia looked around, trying to find anything. But so far, she only found what would be expected at a mill. Thankfully, she got a telepathic ping from Dinah. It was cool that she got a telepathic response...though it made her curious why Dinah didn’t meow. Was there a reason for her to be silent? Or was it just the distance between her and Dinah?

Regardless of the answer, Sylvia immediately headed to the back of the mill and towards the river, where Dinah should be. She hoped to check and see what Dinah found first, before calling for Yorik and her friends.

You’d find Dinah at the bridge crossing the river. Open seeing you she meows and runs across the bridge, leading you to the mill and a spot behind it. There wasn’t much but tall grass and the faint scent of urine, but soon your cat leads you to a crack in the mill. It was covered up with wooden planks and held in place with a large stone, but even without any conventional construction knowledge, you know this is a crude cover for a crack. It was too small for you to squeeze through, but someone like Shortfang or Dinah could easily squeeze through the crack and get inside of the mill. There was a door too, but it was on the opposite side of the hole.

Sylvia followed Dinah and soon found the crack, hiding a door within the windmill. She whispered to Dinah proudly, "Nice find, Dinah!" She wanted to investigate immediately, but she remembered Aisha's and Yorik's words. This technically wasn't their investigation. It was Yorik's. She looked around to see if Syfr was anywhere nearby.

If Shortfang's familiar could be seen, she would wave to the owl and try to signal that she found something. If not, then she would head back to get Yorik and her friends. Once she reaches the group, she calls to them, "Yorik! Guys! Dinah and I found something! Follow me!" After telling them such, she would lead them back to where Dinah found the crack.

It wouldn’t be long before the others join you, thanks to Syfr sporting you and passing the message along to the others. They gather around the crack as Yorik carefully examines it. “Tight squeeze. Someone like Yer little friend dere, or maybe Cera and Kor, could fit. Not us though.” Yorik looked up towards the mill. “Something fishy about da mill though, an I’ll look into it. Y’all back me up.” Shortfang moves the board away and takes out his hand crossbow. “Shortfang gunna go through here, see what Shortfang find.”

Sylvia looked at the entrance and she commented, "I wonder if we can move the stone...or maybe find another entrance?" She then looked to Shortfang when he offered to go through the crack. She answered him, "OK. I'll have Dinah go with you. Two pairs of eyes are better than one," She felt better with the idea, since she would be able to inform the others if Shortfang found himself in any sort of trouble while checking out the crack. then looked to Pylia, Buddy, and Yorik, and she told them, "If you need me, shake me by the shoulder,"

She then sat down cross legged, like she was meditating once more, and closed her eyes. When she opened them again, she hoped to see everything through Dinah's eyes once more. She would telepathically tell Dinah to go with Shortfang.

The stone was moveable, demonstrates by Shortfang kicking the stone out of the way with no difficulty. He pushed the widened board aside to reveal the crack as larger as well. This was a very cheap attempt to cover the hole. Once you were seeing through Dinah’s eyes, she and Shortfang wound move through the crack. It wasn’t very long, only about two feet deep, and it took you inside the windmill itself. It was a huge complex structure with multiple scaffolds, boxes, and containers scattered about. Almost immediately both Dinah and Shortfang could hear something above.

Quietly Shortfang whispered. “Something big. Shush.” He would move quietly, looking around the darkness. Dinah could barely make out anything even with her own darkvision, but soon light would flood the room as Yorik opened the door. He looked around the room carefully, weapon and shield in hand. Shortfang continued to look around and soon stumbled across what appeared to be a trapdoor, but covered partially by a crate. At that same time Dinah smelled something and looked up, and there she saw what was hidden between some large backs on a scaffold: another kobold, armed with two blades, ready to pounce.

Sylvia felt dumb for asking her question after seeing the stone was moved. Regardless she focused on the task at hand, and looked around through Dinah’s eyes. She noticed that Yorik was also entering through the door. She noticed the trap door, but before she could say anything, Dinah smelled something and looked up. There was a kobold ready to ambush Shortfang.

Sylvia immediately felt a surge of emotions, which could be received by Dinah, and she shouted “SHORTFANG WATCH OUT!!!”

She didn’t know if her voice would reach him in time or not, but that didn’t stop her from trying to warn him with her own voice.

You could see Dinah hop out of the way as Shortfang barely managed to react to the other kobold. It leapt down onto him and stabbed him through the shoulder, but your kobold friend wasn't so easy to put down. He fired his crossbow into the kobold's chest, killing it instantly. However what followed happened so fast. You heard shouting through Dinah, kobolds all over the room shouting and roaring. You could feel someone pick up your body and start moving it as Yorik was swarmed by kobolds, and Shortfang himself was attacked from all sides by his fellow scaled creatures. Dinah was fortunately able to climb to safety but she couldn't do much from her position, telepathically communicating to you that this was a dangerous situation that needs your attention.

It wasn't long after Sylvia shouted that chaos had erupted. She saw the kobold stab Shortfang, and she could feel someone pick her up and move her. After hearing Yorik's shout and receiving Dinah's telepathic message, Sylvia decided to snap herself out of the trance that allowed her to see through Dinah's eyes, and she dismissed Dinah so that her familiar wouldn't get hurt. After seeing who was carrying her, she would leap into action to go and help Shortfang and Yorik. Though, there was the question of who had picked her up...

She saw that it was Buddy who had picked her up and he was charging into battle. She nodded to Buddy, and quickly thanked him, before jumping out of his arms. She then rushed to the nearest kobold, and attempted to strike. Her tonfa missed due to the disorientation from just snapping out of Dinah's sight, but thankfully, her kick struck true. But it might not have been enough to knock the kobold unconscious.

The kobold staggered back from your kick, but something about these creatures were different from the Sewer Dragons below. No, they were different because they are the Sewer Dragons! They scales, their accessories, and markings all look like Sewer Dragon ones. Yet at the same time when you stayed with them, you could tell the Sewer Dragons friendly to you were frighten. Only the warriors seemed truly confident in their abilities, or the elders like Longstrider and Skinwalker. But these kobolds... They seemed harden. Even as your kick shattered bones and caused the kobold to spit up blood the fire in his eye didn't fade but burn brighter. Though it did quickly die once Yorik slammed his flail into the kobold's skull, crushing it and another kobold that was trying to stab him. "Good job girlie! But we got more where those came- ARGH!"

Sure enough more kobolds came out and swarmed you and Yorik. Three appeared behind him and skewered him between the plates of his armor. His eyes looked shocked. As the blades sunk into their bodies. Two more lunged at you, one of the blades going right to your eyes. In that moment your life slowed down to a crawl. The first thing you would notice was that these blades were not of kobold make: you can recognize a kobold made sword and these looked too fine. They had a waved edge and a sharp tip, and you could see a foul green poison coating the blade. You could see the blade just about skewer your eye, but as soon as you blinked your tonfa was there, deflecting the blow. Another kobold aimed for your armpit and once more your tonfa was able to deflect what would've been a deadly blow into a glancing one, but you could still feel the cut across your side as the poison caused the wound to burn painfully.

"Sylvia!" A silver sword flew out and slashed at the kobold who managed to strike you, but he was able to dodge the attack as the blade flew into the ground. Pylia moved in closer and shouted a holy word, creating a flash of light that blinded the kobolds for just a moment, just in time for Buddy to arrive and drop his axe right down the body of the kobold who almost stabbed your eye out. He cleaved the creature in half as he went to stab the other one, but he was able to dodge Buddy's attack at the last moment. Meanwhile you hear Shortfang roar in pain and agony as he was fighting his own battles, and hopefully winning. You couldn't see him from here but he wasn't too far away, likely behind the shelves blocking your vision.

Sylvia started at the kobold in shock. These were Sewer Dragons! Why were they here?! Were...they the traitors who left the other kobolds in the sewers to die?

Before the kobold she kicked could do anything else, Yorik’s flail finished him off. She looked to Yorik when he spoke. Her eyes widened when he shouted in pain, and she shouted “YORIK!” She gasped as a kobold moved to attack her. Time seemed to slow once more as she stumbled back. She got a good look at the blade, and she honestly thought that she was going to lose her eyes. But thankfully, she was able to move her tonfa to block the blade.

After doing so, she called to her friends, hoping Shortfang would hear her too, “Their blades are poisoned!”

She took a look at their situation. Yorik looked the worst off and Shortfang was by himself with Dinah. She needed to help bring this to a swift end. So, she inhaled and called a little more of her ki once again. With a battle cry of her own, she lobbed her tonfa at the kobold in front of her, before focusing on the ones attacking Yorik. She punted one of the kobolds like he was an upright football, before spinning and directing another kick at the second kobold.

A crack, break, and crunch. Two kobolds were instantly dispatched by your blows, with the last kick causing the kobold to fall onto his knees. He recovered quickly however and lunged right at you, planning to stick his blade into your chest before Yorik found the strength within himself to intercept the kobold, smashing him into the ground with his flail. He maintained the momentum and turned towards the last kobold as well, smashing into the little beast's arm with his weapon. The creature however was still alive despite the damage and stabbed Yorik right in the gut. "Yorik no!" Pylia commanded her sword to skewer the kobold, just as Shortfang finally dispatched the last kobold as well. Thanks to Dinah's timely distraction, she was able to make the kobold miss his attack just as he turned to flee, and gave Shortfang the opening to knock out the other kobold.

Pylia checked on Yorik who was bleeding from multiple wounds. "Those blades were poisoned but it doesn't seem to have any lingering effects. Stay with me Yorik..." Pylia heals some of the orcs wounds as he looks down to his gut. The kobold's blade didn't manage to cut him though, instead it had gotten caught on his belt. "Goddamn, dat kobold nearly got me pant's!" He chuckled heartily as Pylia just sternly glared at him. Buddy went over to Shortfang who was wounded and bleeding against the wall. He used his powers on Shortfang to heal him up a bit as well. "These kobolds... Sewer Dragons. Ones who left." He looks at the blade in his hand before tossing it away. "That one sleeps. We talk to him." He points at the last kobold he had knocked out. Unlike the others who had notable lethal wounds, this kobold only had a blackened eye.

And shortly after he says this, a loud thumping noise could be heard in the room. Dinah spots it quickly and meows nearby, and the noise seems to be coming from a large box. Something was underneath.

Sylvia had almost surprised herself with how quickly she had dispatched the kobolds, but that feeling didn't last long as the last kobold was ready to attack her in return. Thankfully, Yorik's flail had taken care of it. However, another kobold managed to stab Yorik in the gut and she called out Yorik's name along with Pylia. The last two kobolds were quickly dispatched by Pylia's and Shortfang's swords.

Sylvia hurried over to Yorik's side with Pylia, worried for his wellbeing. She thought he was dying...until she saw the belt. At first she had this dumbfounded look on her face, and after a moment, she laughed along with Yorik. It wasn't a laugh just at Yorik's joke, but it was also a laugh of relief.

"We were worried...over Yorik being pantsed!" She laughed at the situation.

She did calm down, and turned her attention to Shortfang. She nodded and she added onto Shortfang's observations, "That's right. And they have their own custom weapons as well. Just like the Venomfang Troglodyte tribe," When he mentioned that one of the kobolds was merely unconscious and that they should talk to him, she nodded in agreement, "Yeah. We should tie him-" She stopped when she heard the noise and her cat meow.

She turned her attention towards the large box. She sobered herself and she alerted her friends, "Guys. That box. Something's underneath it,"

She then moved over to the box, ready to move it over if her friends were ready. She looked to them to see if they were first.

Everyone except Yorik moved over to the box, as he was going to go secure that knocked out kobold. Everyone had their weapons at the ready when the box burst open and it was Cera. "Whoa! What are you guys doing here?" Cera, Kor, and Shor climbed out from the box, and pushing it aside it revealed a manhole that lead to the sewers. Or at least something that smells like the sewers. Shor looked at the party and Yorik with a bit of frustration, but let out a sigh. "Well... On one hand, I thought I told you Yorik not to let them get wrapped up in the investigation." The orc just smirked as he dragged the bodies into a pile. "Heh. Ya said don't let em into the sewers ta help ya boss. Well dis time, dey were just wif me on patrol. And I don't mean no disrespect by going against da will of yer order, but if dey weren't ere with me just a few seconds ago, we wouldn't be talkin." Yorik raises his tunic and shows the wounds on his body, which were still bloody though no longer lethal.

Not a few seconds later Dimos also came out from the sewers looking a bit worse for ware. He had a blacken eye and a couple of cuts on his body. He seemed genuinely surprised to see all of you here. "What... What are you all doing here? And... Are those more kobolds?" He seemed very worried while Cera looked to the group and briefly explained what was going on. "Last night we received intel that Erandal knew that we were on his trail. He planned to leave as soon as possible and had already started removing any evidence of his crimes. Originally we had thought it was just corruption, but sure enough he is involved with the cult of Elysium. Dimos however was able to witness a very important transaction between Erandal and some Elysium cultists, who we've already arrested. But one of the cultists were killed by kobold assassins, and that's when we figured that Dimos was not save in Underhaven. We sent Yorik to the surface in order to give the assassins the impression that Dimos was not protected, and that's when they fell into our trap. But sure enough, the kobolds had many more assassins, so we needed to escape by other means. Thankfully the friendly Sewer Dragons showed us this exit while we were running from the assailants."

Hearing this Shortfang looked very worried. "But what about Sewer Dragons? What about family!?" Kor looked at the good kobold and shook his head. "I didn't want to leave them to fight our battles either. But the their elder said that they would protect us as long as we can keep moving. Even the renegaded kobolds didn't want to fight the Sewer Dragons, they were only after us." Shor nods solemnly. "Your people protected us Shortfang, and for that we won't forget it. But enough talk. We need to get Dimos out of here before more assassins find us. We can take him to the Temple of the Maker where he'll be safe as long as he stays on holy ground." Pylia bit her lip hearing this. She just sighed and looked to you. "Unlike in Cassari, the Temple of the Maker here in Gransys is much more powerful. There's a spell encompassing the entire area that prevents violence from happening. Only a very strong willed person can break through the ward and those who try won't have it easy either, especially not while the paladins are there. So... He will be safe there. But it won't come free, you do realize that Shor?" The dwarf nodded. "Don't worry. A deacon there owes me a favor, so I'm calling it in. Once Dimos is safe we'll reconvene and find a way to stop these assassins and get Erandal for his crimes."

Sylvia was ready to bash more heads in, but she was glad to see that the people who came out of the box were not more kobolds, but Cera instead! She sighed in relief as she lowered her fighting stance, and she answered her, "Helping out!" as she helped Cera, Kor, and Shor out of the box. She moved the box over to reveal the manhole that lead into the sewers. The doll's words came to mind...

Instead of finding dragons, the Windmill Crusaders found friends instead. The thought almost made her chuckle.

She listened as Shor and Yorik spoke to each other a bit, before noticing Dimos coming out of the manhole next. She answered Dimos, reassuring him, "Patrolling with Yorik. Don't worry, those kobolds won't hurt you," She then gently helped Dimos out of the manhole. She then turned her attention to Cera as she explained the situation, confirming Sylvia's and her friends' thoughts after encountering Erendal earlier. As such, surprise was nowhere to be seen on Sylvia's face. But she was worried, much like Shortfang, when she heard that the Sewer Dragons had protected the group as they ran and fought the assassins.

She blinked at the mention of getting Dimos out of here and to the Temple of the Maker. She looked to Pylia in confusion and slight skepticism. Thankfully, she didn't need to voice her question. Pylia explained that the temple here was much stronger than the one in Cassari, and Sylvia gave an "Oh..." in response. She then looked to Shor as he answered Pylia's question. She rubbed the back of her neck at the mention of Erendal, considering that...well, he is dead.

She answered Shor, "What are we waiting for? Let's hurry to the temple then. However...when we get there, we need to tell you what happened up here while you three were in the sewers,"

"Of course. Let's move quickly. Kor, Yorik, can you two secure this area while the rest of us take Dimos to the temple?" The two men nodded and saluted Shor. "Aye captain. We'll take care of things here." Already a crowd was forming on the opposite side of the river, and Kor was quick to make them leave the area so he and Yorik can cover the crime scene. The rest of the group hit the main road and would go straight to the Temple of the Maker, which was within the Castle Ward. The Castle Ward, unlike the rest of the city, looked like it was built upon huge white stone walls, so tall and vast that the only thing you could see above them was the equally huge and unfathomably large sword that the Castle Ward seemed to be built over. It cast a large shadow over the town at this time of day. Here, the people wore finer looking clothes than the merchants and workers in the market district. People looked over at your strange group, whispering as you walked past. Even the guards here looked better equipped than the ones you saw around the market and docks; many of them had armor and weapons similar to Shor, but in much better condition. There were even some guards who may be mages by the way they dressed and their equipment.

Soon the party would reach the Temple of the Maker. Though temple was putting it lightly; this place looked more like a whole college campus than just a single building. Multiple huge institutes were spawn about, with various men and women, mostly human or elven, were walking around, studying things, or practicing magic. And not just simply spells either: you could see men and women working on rituals summoning giant balls of fire, or manipulating what you could only assume to be a golem made of rune stones. There was even a few people flying through the air. It was here that the group was stopped by sentries who began to speak to Shor. Shortfang just gawked at the scene, sitting on top of Buddy's head to try and get a look at everything. Even Buddy seemed to be mesmerized by everything around him. Dinah had followed you quietly but seemed to have found herself in the company of other cat-like familiars, some looking demonic, others fey, and others who looked similar to her. However Pylia just looked forward with a very stony expression, her hand resting on the head of her club.
