Name: Henry Makokis

Appearance: Henry is an interesting sort. Niether tall and muscular, nor short and stocky. He is a decent 6 feet tall, with a whip like build, quick both physically and mentally. His skin is a leathery red of a person who is used to spending long hours out in the strong sun. Once upon a time his hair was a dark and long black, but now it's a salt and pepper black and grey. What doesn't look like he's been weathered, is his piercing dark eyes. Eyes that seem to stare into a person's soul. A First Nations man of Canada of distinguished appearance. His hair is always cut back into what is called "The Warrior's Braid" a long hefty braid of hair that travels down his back almost to his waist.

Personality: Henry is a approachable man. Kind, thoughtful, welcoming. He will be just as likely to crack a obscure joke as he is to start intoning some strange old take of the Cree Peoples. He's an intelligent man, holding Doctorates in Biosciences, Mathematics and Astrophysics. Making him quite educated and erudite. But he'd sooner debate the Edmonton Oilers and the Calgary Flames then whether or no Betelguese is about to go super nova.

Backstory: The Great Union of First Nations Communities, a political and social conglomeration of all the American Indian and Canadian First Nations reserves and communities across the North American Continent. A united group for all First Nations people to live peacefully and in prosperity, as well as to have all the comforts and legal means that anyone ele may have. This came about after a long hard fight in political and social arena's around the north american continent and around the world even. Culminating in a massive showing and address with the UN several decades ago.

It was a long and hard fought battle. But soon all the myraid number of reserves were recognized as a nation onto themselves. And this Crees and Creeks. Mohawk and Pawnee. Cherokee and Blackfoot. All alike were given the rights and all things they needed to join the rest of the peoples of the world in prosperity.

To make sure they could keep this way, as time went on, the GUFNC employed their own defense forces. Helix Frames and small militia groups who patrolled their lands to keep it safe from people who would come in and misuse it. This is where Henry came in. From a young age, he always felt he's something more. Something a little more useful to the Union. A defender. What would be called a Brave among some of the nations. This is what Henry endeavoured to be for the GUFNC. It took a long time, what with his education he wanted to get. He was a slightly older 42 by the time he got his first HELIX Frame. But then when he did get it he declared he'd act as the defender of the rights of all the GUFNC no matter what happened.

He spent many years defending the lands of the Saddle Lake, Kehewin and Smokey Lake communities before he was tasked with joining the Snowbirds, a representative from the GUFNC was needed and he was chosen by the Council of Elders and Matriarch. He packed up his belongings, and shipped his HELIX up to the location, arrive just a few mere hours behind it. He boarded up his HELIX and made his way to the Snowbird Base. Instead of defending the lands of his people. He's defending the vast north int he name of everyone.

Misc Info:

*An adherent to the old customs, and spiritual beliefs of the First Nations peoples, he carries a coup stick with him everywhere he goes just in case.

*One of the first things he did when he arrived on base was to plant a War Post on the grounds of the base and bury the blade of a hatchet into it. Honoring his Mohawk cousin's ways in that moment. And he also offered a braid of sweet grass and a packet of tobacco to a local GUFNC community elder for their blessing.

*Despite getting on in years, he's still quite spry.

HELIX

Codename: The Brave

Appearance: The Brave is a fast thin Frame model. One of the first Frames that was developed, built and produced exclusively by the GUFNC factories. It's black silver, blue and red frame is well armored for something with it's cross section. And sports the GUFNC mohawk crest on it's head section, made from silvered cabling welded onto the top and back of the head. The hands are extremely agile for a Helix frame of it's shape and size.

Head: The Tri-eye sensor array - Three blue eyes with omni directional sensors that pick up input in Visual, Radar and Infra-red

Shoulders: Left - Five-barrel Heavy Gattling laser Cannon Right - Hi-Focus Heavy Plasma Lance (A energy weapon that super heats 3 foot long tungsten bolts then launches them in a tight blast)

Back: Ordnance Interdiction system - A 20 round HELIX Frame sized trophy system that can track and pick off missiles, or rockets. Limited ammo, limited usage.

Waist: Booster Jets for faster lateral and forward motion.

Right Arm: Underslung Defuse-focus High Energy Laser cannon - Fast firing, low damage energy weapon

Left and Right hands: The Coup System - Right Hand houses a Large Heated edge Helix Frame sized tomahawk. The Left Hand houses a combat knife, fitted to Helix proportions. Made from Titanium and Osmium composites. Long enough to pierce through the armor of a Frames core with a good amount of power behind it.

Legs and feet: High output thrusters and jets designed to give The Brave high enough speed to cover distances quickly to close the distance with an enemy Frame and utilize it's Tomahawk and Knife to good effect. Or to put distance to use it's longer range weaponry.

THE MAN

Name: Julian A. Brumbles

Appearance: Julian is short and stocky, albeit he could lose some pounds with a better diet. His freckled face is bespectacled and cheeky, with short, slicked black hair. At 18 years old, he is certainly not physically imposing and seldom does he impress the ladies. His taste in apparel is most likely considered old fashioned, as though he was a man with an eye for the classics.

Personality: Julian is fairly shy and keeps to himself when not needed. He is kind and polite, and a true gentleman; However, he is often over-shadowed by taller, stronger, and better looking peers with louder voices. Julian likes to think that he doesn't mind this, but it secretly does bother him, as he wishes to make true friends and fit in. It also bothers him that he can't seem to ever match his older sister's skill in combat. His main saving grace is that he is an erudite mechanic and a quick thinker. He's also a paradigm breaker, albeit he often doesn't know how to execute his ideas properly. This is why he diligently sticks to engineering new Frames, or at least trying to. Nothing he has ever made actually works for long, as they often break down and cause problems.

Backstory: A young, portly intellectual striving for competency as a pilot and mechanic. Having inherited a powerful HELIX Frame from his uncle, Julian hopes to one day match his older sister's skill and beat her in a duel. He also seeks to reach a high enough rank so that he can bring attention to his family's destitute town, which once served as an inspiring service port for the United Empire. He firmly believes in the system and that the United Empire's cause is just and righteous.

Misc Info:
-As an avid mechanic, Julian is always working on something in his downtime. Despite his poor physical prowess and unsightly appearance, he's proven to recruiters multiple times that he has a knack for using his mechanic knowledge against enemy Frames; thus helping him come out on top even when the odds are stacked against him.

-He is also a budding HELIX Frame designer. One day, he hopes to design a HELIX Frame of his own. He has so many ideas.

THE MACHINE

Codename: The Marauder.
Class: Medium (9m tall), with optional Heavy Class attachment.

Appearance:
Julian's black and red HELIX Frame looks both robust and lanky. Its upper body has a simplistic design, going solely for efficient armor coverings. Its face resembles that of a hockey mask with a visor. Its lower body, in contrast, looks more sleek and aerodynamic. Its ankles sport two large multi-faceted jets that give it speed and grace. As a medium sized chassis, the Marauder leans on the shallower end of the spectrum, right above small Frames.

The Marauder is versatile in its roles, capable of assisting allied Frames from any range of combat as required by the mission. This Frame's specs shine best when it is not alone, as it is designed to help allies compensate for most weaknesses inherent in their range-focused or melee-focused Frames. Therefore, in a prolonged skirmish, a lone Marauder is likely to be rendered into a scrap heap.

• Siege: A long range stage, where the Marauder uses its Starfall Cannon and Long-range Precision Module to soften up an enemy base or support allies from a distance. A ceasefire in bombings usually heralds the coming of the Marauder itself, as the Starfall Cannon launches it into the sky. The Marauder then descends upon enemy forces, its arrival unleashing a shockwave of death before it proceeds to wreck utterly everything with merciless ferocity.
• Ambush: An aerial descent stage, where the Marauder employs its Slyph Wings, Flash Skates, and Meteor Greaves to guide its landing where it'll demolish the most amount of enemies. The Comet Lance can make an appearance. Note that the Marauder is an excellent ambusher in most situations, it's just geared towards what is called an aerial ambush.
• Forward Assault: A medium range to CQC stage, where the Marauder, whether it's helping lead the charge or just crashed ahead of its allies, will use its primary equipment: 2 Autocannons, a Grenade Launcher, 2 Grappling Claws, and its Comet Hammer, followed by one or two of its Aries' Smites when the Grenade Launcher is depleted or its Comet Hammer is lost, broken, or rendered pointless. It should be noted that while the Marauder has melee capabilities, it is not a melee-orientated Frame--in a prolonged battle with such Frames, the Marauder will find itself in a battle of attrition, which it is not suited for. The Marauder is best used alongside allies, by guarding their flank or giving them openings, or sometimes using its agility to make the final strike itself.

• HEAD
  • Advanced Detection Array: A stealth and cloaking detection sensor, it is used in the Forward Assault stage. Enemy Frames that employ enhanced stealth modules or cloaking technologies will be hard pressed to sneak up on the Marauder and its allies. However, due to the sensitive nature of the array, the chance that it will detect hidden enemies plummets drastically when the Marauder is preoccupied in intense CQC or rapid acrobatic tactics. The visual and location data of discovered enemies can be relayed to allies up to 100m away.
  • Long-range Precision Module: An artillery's mapping and pinpointing module, it is used mainly in the Siege stage. Its maximum range is 8 km with a 30% error margin. Additional visual data relayed from allied scouts can assist the array greatly, reducing its error to almost zero. On the other hand, its ability to conduct enhanced long distance mapping can help allies understand the terrain on the fly.

• SHOULDERS (TOP)
  • 120mm Autocannon (x2): A pair of rapid-firing, auto-loading, direct-fire ballistic weapons, they are used in all stages but primarily used in the Forward Assault stage. Although these ACs produce significantly less heat than energy weapons, they are bulkier and dependent on available ammunition. The rounds fired by the ACs are high-explosive, but not armor piercing. When depleted, the ACs can retract into the Marauder for safe keeping.

• LEFT & RIGHT SHOULDERS (INNER)
  • Grappling Claw (x2): A pair of rocket-propelled, wire-guided metallic claws capable of ripping into enemy Frames and structures. Its heavy-duty winch system can reel Smaller Frames closer to the Marauder for greater punishment, as well as retrieve objects quickly. Alternatively, the winch can pull the Marauder forward with a timed jump or if the Flash Skates are used for lift. The wires' maximum length is 100 m, but seldom is this range ever reached, especially in combat. The Claws contain hidden bombs within, which are activated when the Marauder disengages their wires. The damage of the bombs can cripple an enemy Frame depending on where on its body the Claws found purchase.

• BACK
  • Sylph Wings: A pair of extensive poly-fiber wings, they are used in the Ambush stage (if an aerial descent) as well as certain situations in the Forward Assault stage. They allow the Marauder to stay on target during its descent, letting it glide into position before speeding up its drop, akin to a falcon diving towards prey. Additionally, the Sylph Wings can slow its descent if crashing is suddenly not desirable. Upon the ground, the wings can give an extra edge to the Marauder's acrobatic stunts and boosted jumps, but given their large size, using them in CQC or enclosed spaces is not advised. The wings tuck into the Marauder's back perfectly when not in use, but they cannot be deployed at all while the Frame is attached to its Starfall Cannon.
  • Starfall Cannon: A large artillery weapon that can unleash hell from afar, it is used solely in the Siege stage. The Cannon sits upon a large platform with an extra pair of legs--it all attaches to the back of the Marauder, making it resemble a centaur. When in siege mode, the Cannon extends skywards as its legs spread outwards and anchors the platform to the ground. It has two types of rounds: single point (a shell for destroying a tough, solitary target) and multi point (a shell that breaks up above the target area and covers a larger area). Lastly, the key to the Marauder's Ambush stage, the Starfall Cannon can launch the Marauder into the sky, which is ideally done after shelling the battleground. If needed, the Cannon can save a few shells after launching the Marauder and wait for instructions via remote control to shell a region within the Marauder's line-of-sight.

• Waist
  • Shield Focus Module: A Phalanx energy coordinator module that manipulates the Frame's shield, it is used during all stages, but primarily seen in the Forward Assault. The module can concentrate the strength of the Marauder's Phalanx Shield towards one or two directions. This effectively renders enemy attacks less dangerous against the concentrated region, but makes them more lethal from another angle, if that region even has any shield left at all. Additionally, the module can rotate its concentrated shield points around the Marauder, which is useful for dealing with pesky, speedier enemy Frames.

• LEFT & RIGHT ARMS
  • Aries' Smites: A pair of piston-driven battering rams with gleaming wedges, they are used during the Forward Assault stage. When these are deployed, the Marauder's hands are unavailable because the Marauder's forearms share space with the rams via swiveling joints. These rams will deliver pulverizing impacts that hurl enemy Frames away with effortless ease and sometimes cleave their armaments in twain. The pistons are enhanced by the Frame's reactor, which empower the wedges to temporarily reduce an enemy Frame's mobility when struck. Against huge Frames, large structures, and heavily armored entrances, Aries' Smites will destroy them with minimal effort if given a chance.

• LEFT & RIGHT HANDS
  • Comet Lance / Warhammer: A 2-stage, pseudo-ranged melee weapon, it is used during the Ambush and Forward Assault stages.
    
    During an aerial ambush, the Comet Lance builds up kinetic energy for destructive shockwaves and is meant for striking secondary targets just out of reach of the Marauder's explosive crash. After retrieval, the Lance may be wielded with two hands for melee combat, but it can be cumbersome in extended CQC. Its large frame and design, while good for deflection and charging enemies, is overshadowed by its smaller, alternative form described below.
    
    The Comet Warhammer, wielded with one or two hands, resembles a hammerhead / rocket component attached to the end of a metal shaft. The hammerhead has a small sharp blade on top, capable of shearing metal. Its rocket component draws energy from its batteries and gives a critical boost to the Warhammer's speed and strength when timed with striking enemy Frames. This almost allows the Warhammer's massive blunt force to fragment armor, but more often it causes internal damage. The batteries only grant 5 boosted strikes, after which it must be recharged by the Marauder's reactor via port attachment.
  • Grenade Launcher: A larger version of the gun used by common infantry, this support weapon is used in all stages. The Grenade Launcher can fire grenades over a much longer distance and in a spread if needed. A wide variety of grenades are available such as anti-personnel, flare, flash, high-explosive, smoke, and inferno rounds. The rounds are stored in drums, of which a few can be stored on the Marauder's storage compartments. The Launcher itself also has magnetic screws that lets it holster itself to the Frame's side when not needed.

  • Meteor Greaves: An aerodynamic armor equipped with powerful shock absorbers, it is used in the Ambush and Forward Assault stages. The Greaves helps the Marauder plunge from the sky and protects its structural integrity at its crash site. Upon the ground, the Greaves grant a significant boost to the Frame's jumping capabilities and reduce damage from falling.

• FEET
  • Flash Skates: Phalanx-powered thrust engines used in the Ambush and Forward Assault stages. Attached to the Marauder's ankles, it gives the Frame's a high speed on most terrain, but also allows minor adjustments during aerial descents and acrobatic stunts. It's good for traveling at high speeds, but more importantly, for charging into the enemy ranks, by using evasive maneuvers and swift counterattacks to cause pure chaos.

Personality: People tend to view Garret as serious, but really he just doesn't trust easily and doesn't relax around most people. Regardless of his particular affection to the current audience though he is fond of dark humor. He is much more dedicated to the his family and the United Empire. He aims to be very precise in his actions. Partially not to be wasteful and partially to avoid collateral damage

Backstory: Garret was born outside of the United Empire in a mining town where he was was forced to work from an early age, but through a mixture of passion and luck was able to work with the few mining Helix machines that the community had access to. Eventually a proxy fight between the Vertex and UE allies buried the rest of his community in the mine or otherwise saw them slaughtered. He barely made it out of the country. After a year on the streets begging and stealing Garret was taken in by a eccentric traveling scientist who went by Virol, who adopted Garret and took him properly into the UE. Out of a sense of duty to his new family and spite for the Vertex he joined the military as soon as he was able.

Personality
Rachel is a sharp woman who can easily switch between being your best friend and your greatest rival. Being an elite fighter pilot of Britain's 404 Squadron, a unit formed shortly after the rise of the United Empire, Rachel has a level of pride that she maintains among her peers. Rachel knows her capabilities, and isn't afraid to apply them when necessary. Rachel has a sort of 'wingman first' mentality, where she will prioritize her partner's needs over others, whether that be in a combat situation or in everyday life. Rachel finds fun in competition, as entering into 404 Squadron took a great amount of competing against other candidates. In combat, Rachel tends to try and one-up the enemy, and it has led to her being quite the showman in battle. Prior to becoming a HELIX pilot, Rachel was known for being a hotshot pilot who challenged herself with maneuvers deemed too dangerous for standard operating procedures. Now as a HELIX pilot, she is determined to master it and double down on her reputation. Rachel is also very good at billiards, but she claims that she is terrible at it.

Background
Rachel was born in an upper class family in Great Britain. Her family had a long history of serving in the RAF as distinguished pilots. Despite her family's renown, it certainly also had its fair share of infamy too. Her grand father was the pilot who had so gracefully donated his legendary flight data to drone engineers before the AI war, which led to the rebel AI having a vast fleet of fighter drones mimicking the Allen Crenshaw's flying ability. After the AI war, it took a lot of work for the Crenshaw family to regain the trust of the people. Naturally, Rachel joined the RAF to restore her family's honor. Her family ties certainly had helped her get the position she wanted in one of the country's many combat air wings. While she took much from her training, Rachel had shown to her instructors that she was a natural at flying, and when her training was complete, she found herself flying for the elite 404 squadron. The 404 received the best equipment and planes that the country had to offer. Fresh off training, Rachel was keen to prove herself as a hotshot pilot. She knew she was a talented pilot, and she let that get to her head, often times rushing ahead of her element on exercises to be the first into the fight.

Rachel was deployed to the West Asian theater where she fought against a small but very well equipped insurgency. This insurgency was unlike the ones that came before, they were well funded and had the numbers to fight in open war against the United Empire. The insurgency called themselves the 'Maroon Dragon Initiative', and they had a surprising amount of infrastructure and organization which required a far greater devotion of assets and resources from the empire. 404 Squadron was deployed to where the MDI forces were the thickest. The insurgency had air power, and until the 404's arrived, they even had air superiority. 404 Squadron had recently been equipped with brand new F-40 Hellcat stealth fighters, aircraft which hadn't even seen any real combat by then. Their debut was monumental, as 404 squadron was able to enter directly into the MDI's complex radar space and strike at sensitive facilities before their air forces could scramble. With the MDI's air defense network in ruin, 404 took on general air combat missions, engaging in close quarters with enemy air units to claim air superiority. The Hellcats were far more advanced than what the MDI had. The insurgent aircraft couldn't keep up with the new fighters.

Rachel was part of the final offensive on the MDI headquarters, a captured space elevator in the middle of a heavily fortified city. Rachel was in the vanguard force to hit the city's outer layer of defenses. As they approached the city, Rachel saw a gap in their air defense network, and brought the new information up the chain of command. She and her flight were the only ones close enough to exploit the gap before it was covered up. Before she could get new orders, Rachel's flight leader took the initiative and ordered the flight to advanced ahead of the vanguard and fly through the gap. The radar wall was tight, and a single mistake would have Laser-AA shredding them to pieces. Once the flight was in, they were committed. The six hellcats flew in a single file line, the ones to the rear following the lead plane's lead in the radar tunnel. Things were going well until the flight lead's plane just barely grazed the radar wall. Within seconds, Laser-AA had locked on him, and he was shot down. Rachel was the second in the tunnel, and so she took the lead on guiding the flight through. The flight lost four more planes on the way through, leaving just her and her wingman in the tunnel. By the time they broke through, the two planes were within striking range of the MDI headquarters. The enemy knew there fighters in the airspace, and they scrambled a pair of fighters to meet them. The dogfight was tense as they weaved in and around the complex construction of the space elevator's base. But 404 had better pilots, and she and her wingman overcame the enemy fighters. Then the MDI deployed a HELIX frame against them.

Until that point, the MDI hadn't had HELIX frames. The frame they were up against was very clearly a Vertex HELIX frame. It engaged Rachel and her wingman. They both knew that one hit from the HELIX would be enough to take them down, so they kept an evasive posture and fired missiles from a distance. The HELIX evaded just as easily, and it had longer lasting firepower than they did. With a single accurate shot from the HELIX frame's 120mm rifle, Rachel's wingman was shot down. On her own, Rachel decided to go toe to toe with the HELIX. She turned and headed straight for the frame, putting on an impressive display of skill as she dodged the incoming 120mm rounds. Rachel wanted to remind the frame that she was on a suicide run by returning fire with her own cannon. The rounds were harmless against the HELIX frame, but it served to send the HELIX into a sort of tunnel vision. How dare a pest think it can win against a HELIX?! Rachel was unknowingly stripping down the HELIX frame's phalanx shield while spraying it with her cannon fire. Her intention to eject and send the fighter right into the frame wouldn't have worked if not for that. Before ejecting, Rachel set the fighter's small scale phalanx core to detonate. She pulled the ejection handle, and launched into the sky, watching her fighter collided with the HELIX frame. The fighter itself didn't cause enough damage to take down the HELIX, but the detonation from the fighter's core certainly did. With a bright blue flash and a powerful gust of wind, the HELIX was destroyed. Rachel touched down not far from the ruined Helix. She knew MDI forces would come to capture her and secure the wreckage of the HELIX, the best she could do was hold out in the wreckage for as long as possible.

When she made it to the wreckage, Rachel found that the frame's black box was still intact. She jacked in her flight suit's personal comms into the black box and began to transmit its data to the United Empire. While transmitting, MDI ground forces arrived. She returned fire with her pistol, but she was vastly outgunned, and not very effective on the ground. The best she could do was slow them down. Just before she was overwhelmed, a missile struck the bulk of the infantry force coming to capture her, followed by a deadly spray of cannon fire. Another 404 flight had broken through the radar tunnel. With the space elevator effectively held hostage by 404 squadron, the MDI were forced to stand down. The United Empire forces moved further into the city and cleared up any enemy force that decided to keep on fighting after the stand down. It was during the consolidation that Rachel had learned what she had achieved. The data pulled from the HELIX's black box contained IFF frequencies for the city's automated defenses, which allowed Imperial forces into the city with little resistance. Beyond the IFFs, they also found out that the HELIX frame was supplied from deep within the heart of Vertex territory, fresh off of the assembly line. Months passed, and after some intelligence acquisitions, that black box information revealed that Vertex was funding and supplying the Maroon Dragon Initiative to weaken the Empire's influence in the West Asian countries so it could commit to an aggressive offensive. Word of Vertex's plans never reached the public, but it began the cascade that followed in the wake of the West Asian Conflict, which rattled the already tense relations between Vertex and United Empire.

Rachel was promoted to the rank of captain after her tour of duty. Not much longer, she was selected as a possible candidate for a top secret HELIX program. She was vetted through the process and eventually chosen to be the pilot of a prototype HELIX frame. She was introduced to the Zephyr model, and was asked to name the first of its kind. Rachel named it after her fallen wingman's callsign, Storm Rider. She underwent the complex surgeries to become compatible with the HELIX frame's neural architecture. Now, after two months of recovering from the surgeries, and another month of work-up training in the Storm Rider, she is being deployed to Alaska as a member of the renowned Canadian Snowbirds for more in depth HELIX training.

Off duty, Rachel is used to the affluent life of the upper class. She likes to find herself in elite venues, and will gladly cover the costs for her less fortunate "+1's".

HELIX: E-HLX 00 Zephyr

The first HELIX of its kind, the Zephyr is the RAF's prototype HELIX designed to bridge the gap between the tried and true fleet of fighter craft, and the hyper advanced capabilities of the potent HELIX frames. This unit has been designated as 'Storm Rider', and has been given to the RAF's first HELIX pilot, Rachel Crenshaw. The Zephyr stands at 15 meters in height, which also contributes to its length when in flight mode.

Left Arm - Integrated Hyper-Rapid Magnetic Cannon [HMC]
Capable of spitting out magnetically accelerated rods at a high rate of fire, the HMC is the ultra-modern alternative to aging conventional ballistic weaponry. Instead of using a striking hammer and propellant, the HMC uses three arrays of magnets to sling rods at extreme velocities toward the enemy. At such speeds, the light rods hit with a mass far greater than the rod itself actually has. The HMC is integrated directly into the forearm of the Zephyr to allow for easy feeding of the ammunition and powering of the electronics. The HMC can be fired at different rates, using less power to fire a staggering volley of many shots, or more power for a single powerful shot over long distances. The weapon's lack of moving parts compared to a conventional weapon allows for greater control of the weapon. However, the heat generated both from the friction of the projectiles, and the electricity surging through it mean that the longer this weapon fires, the easier to is to track via infrared. If the weapon sustains long periods of fire, or charged for a high powered shot, the zephyr's electromagnetic signature grows as well. When the zephyr enters flight mode, the weapon stows into the HELIX and is used much like a fighter's cannon.

Right Arm - EB-1000 Excalibur
A potent energy blade with an intense power output. The blade is short but very focused, allowing for the blade to slice through most targets with ease. The drawback of the Excalibur is that the heat generated by the blade allow for IR locks to easily be acquired on the HELIX using this blade. The relatively short blade also means that the HELIX must get within a dangerous distance of the target for an effective strike. While mounted on something like a Zephyr, the Excalibur is used more as a sidearm when the main weapon is out of ammunition.

Right Shoulder - 20x Missile Pylons
The zephyr has room to mount up to twenty missiles on its shoulder. These missiles are the same as ones used by fighters. The missiles are loaded before the zephyr departs for a mission. If the mission requires air to ground support, AGMs can be loaded. If the missions foresees a large air presence, AAMs can be mounted. The zephyr can have a mix of missiles mounted on its pylons for mission flexibility. Essentially, if a missile can fit on a fighter, it can fit on the zephyr. Perhaps more specialized HELIX missiles can be mounted onto it later if they are ever designed.

Defenses & Countermeasures

Left Shoulder - Enhanced Radar Suite
A boosted radar system allowing for ground penetration and location of stealth capable targets. The radar can be used both as an active ping, or as a passive scanner. When used actively, the power of the radar is doubled, allowing for it to scan up to fifty kilometers out with detail, and one hundred kilometers out with the ability to detect -something-. As a passive scanner, the radar can provide detailed information up to 30 kilometers, with less detailed information up to fifty kilometers. Active pings have the unfortunate knock-on effect of also broadcasting to listening posts that there is a radar system (and something along with it) in the area, and should be used when discretion is less important or lost. Passive scanning can help the HELIX maintain a low profile, and works well in conjunction with stealth capabilities. For missiles, this radar can track and acquire multiple locks, allowing for the HELIX to fire more than one missile at more than one enemy.

Frame - Radar Absorbing Materials
The lightweight materials and overall design of the Zephyr HELIX allow for stealth capabilities. The Zephyr's intent is to integrate with squadrons of F-40 Hellcat stealth fighters, so this was a core design principle for the Zephyr. The angles allow for radar pings to deflect away from the radar, and what is bounced back to the radar is mostly absorbed by the paint and materials. The small amount of information that is passed back to the radar is muddled and hazy at best, meaning that the Zephyr is very difficult to lock onto unless it is in close combat with the enemy. This also means that the Zephyr can approach an enemy at high speed and close the distance before being detected, making it ideal for lightning fast raids and reconnaissance. While airborne, the Zephyr can orbit a target and monitor its movements undetected for extended periods of time, feeding information back to the main force as it does. There is a downside of course, the materials that went into the construction of the Zephyr are expensive, and don't provide the most protection against enemy fire. The Zephyr's armor is rated to take only five 120mm rounds before it is considered to be compromised. This means that agility and evasion takes priority over brute force. This is all not including the protective ability of the HELIX frame's Phalanx shield.

Legs - External Heatsinks

To counteract the heat generated by the HMC, the zephyr has been fitted with heatsinks in an attempt to absorb and bleed off the excess heat. When the HMC is not in use, these heatsinks can be used to mask the zephyr's overall heat, and contribute to maintaining a low profile. If the heatsinks reach critical temperatures, they can be purged from the zephyr to prevent damage to other systems, but this will drastically reduce the longevity of the zephyr's HMC.

Utilities

Lower Back - Linear Over-Boosters
The primary engines which give the Zephyr it's ability of sustained flight. These boosters are powerful enough to propel the Zephyr at high speeds in one direction, similar to that of fighters that the Zephyr is meant to fly with. When the Zephyr is in its flight configuration, these engines can allow the Zephyr to travel up to a max speed of Mach 5 while sacrificing handling. When the Zephyr is in its combat configuration, they allow the HELIX to hover and maintain its altitude. A clever pilot could use these engines as retro boosters to rapidly slow the HELIX in one direction, and pull off some very tight, albeit high-G maneuvers.

Frame - Variable Configurations
Another primary design principle of the Zephyr frame is to allow for it to maintain its aerodynamics when flying in a fighter wing. Engineers who were designing the HELIX agreed that a humanoid shape isn't very conducive for aerodynamics. To counteract this, they designed the Zephyr to be able to 'transform' into a tighter, sleeker shape for high speed flight. The two configurations are flight mode and combat mode. Flight mode allows for extremely fast linear travel and dogfighting, whereas combat mode allows the Zephyr to engage targets on the ground like a normal HELIX. The Zephyr cannot land while in flight mode, and must change into its combat mode to land. Of course, it could make an emergency landing if it had to, but some of the equipment might be worse for wear in that case.

Personality: A man who has absolute faith and devotion to power. Subtlety and trickery do not become him, raised from a young age to believe that might is equivalent to morality. Hence he takes relishes in raining down overwhelming destruction upon his opponents with the Asterion. Liam likes to think of himself as invincible but isn't so naive that he ignores tactics... Though he sees the bigger picture he relies on his team to cover for his shortcomings and faults instead of trying to work together or communicating. This often causes great dismay to his commanders but they cannot argue with the success he's brought them.

Liam values autonomy and individualism rather than adhering to the group due to his upbringing. The strength of the individual outweigh the need for a collective purpose and goal. Strength itself enough to satisfy him and the reason for strength was never something he'd thought of, simply desiring to not be taken advantage of like a mere sheep. This often puts him at odds with those who believe 'the greater good' is at stake. There will always be evil and those who'd seek to take advantage of their lessers and it is most important for him to not be one of those in the minority.

A sadist, he will often goad others to see their reaction and taunt their frail ideals. It has even gotten him pummeled and assaulted by his fellow officers who call him a 'freak' or an 'animal'. Dogs of Rank who lash out at the Wolf he'd become. The fact he uses a VI and doesn't listen to strategy has likewise alienated him from mundane soldiers but he doesn't mind the isolation. It was all he'd ever been given as a child after all, and he'd only ever had himself to rely on.

Backstory: Born into the poor and destitute Liam never had a 'happy' childhood. He stole, beat, and crawled his way through the back alleys of Swedish cities. His mother, sickly and frail, could do nothing for him other than devour his food and resources. When he turned 10, he decided that she wasn't any good for him... A parasite that had done nothing but stolen from him his entire life. So he killed her, a mercy that relieved her of her chronic existence. Even at the end Agnes smiled and stroked her son's cheek even as he put a trio of bullets into her chest. Liam had loved his mother, but there was no way they were going to both make it in this place he told himself. He could only live for himself, only rely on himself, and everyone else was simply trying to steal and take what he needed. That mentality and a life full of kill or be killed affirmed his solitary and jagged mentality.

Finally alone, and struggling to survive he came under a rogue force as a child soldier. A long list of battles, countless corpses, and various faction changes brought him to the Swedish Military. The trail of bodies and corpses had become a muddled sea in Liam's mind as he took the hand of the faction that could offer him the most... Even crushing the head of the guerilla leader under the mechanized foot of his worker-unit. The Swedish military sent him to receive training where he received stellar marks in pilot performance but equally abysmal marks for conduct... Often picking fights with soldiers and causing conflict. At the end of the day, he DID obey the chain of command and function inside of a unit but it was likely his temperament would get him expelled.

At least, until a certain research group acquired him from the military. His exceedingly high marks and his rogue mentality made him ideal to test the Helix frame they'd been developing. Liam didn't care that it had a VI interface or that it was loaded with weapons meant to kill without reserve. The Asterion was a shining beacon of overwhelming might... A tool that could kill anyone who got in his way. His fascination with the machine became almost obsessional as he jumped into the pilot seat and began testing day after day after day. Eventually, its many inner workings became second nature to him and he was deployed to the front much to the dismay of some of the officers that had frowned upon his conduct.

The Mad Dog. The Omen. They were names that fellow pilots called him as he was deployed and his glee fed over the communications. He'd fight, and destroy, and relish every second of it all while playing the 'good soldier' that destroyed his countries enemies.

Misc Info: Liam has a penchant for books. In his room, he has an elaborate study which houses over a thousand books he's read since deploying at that location. A book per day seems to be his genuine mentality on the matter and much prefers ink to people.

If he's not reading a book, sometimes in his cockpit, he's tinkering around with Asterion whom he treats as an actual entity at times.

**Head Unit**

Hind Dual-System Radar: An advanced radar with a slightly smaller range than some other units, but it makes up for in its speed and raw perceptiveness, only about seven and a half kilometers. It's detection powers are doubled due to its narrower range and it's fed into the 'Herakles VI System' at a speed incomparable to human reaction time allowing it to react to enemies faster than Liam would through her own perception. It also overlays visual information on top of this positioning data to analyze and track ballistic trajectories and manipulate this data into the 'Hephestus' system to intercept attacks.

This system was designed to combat close range attackers and groups of opponents since the suits nature as artillery makes defending against incoming suppressive fire and linear assaults predictable and one-directional. The speed and reactionary abilities of the system are leagues above any other conventional radar who detect threats at a longer range. The Asterion's raw defensive capabilities only cares about rats slipping under its nose to bite its weak points. This narrow range can be supplemented with scouting units and those on its team with a greater sensing capability.

Herakles VI System: A support VI that has been developed as a support unit for the Asterion. The VI, much to Liam's dismay, is limited to the mechanical arms that manipulate the Helix frame's chassis. Using data from the Hind's radar, it can at inhuman speeds analyze, predict, and intercept incoming attacks. The heavy outer shell of the Helix frame is not affixed and can be extended outwards from the body and used as a shield. These panels can be rotated in a limited capacity and almost all of them can be positions towards the front of the unit. This is essential for a siege unit, which typically receives all of its adverse fire from a singular direction.

These vast plates can be interlocked and bolstered for a greater 'shield' much reminiscent of knights of old. These plates are created from a futuristic, shock-absorbing material that can deflect most ballistic projectiles. The slightly curved nature also makes sure bullets bounce away rather than distributing their entire kinetic force, as well as Herakles ensuring the intercepts are positioned at an angle to further protect the unit. The metal is also coated in a high-grade heat resistant coating, halving the effectiveness of plasma blades.

The energy field that protects a basic Helix unit can also be projected along these protective panels allowing it to withstand just about any sort of ranged weaponry without a problem. Asterion can even lock all of its plating together into a sort of umbrella to block incoming missiles or bombardment from above or directly in front of it, however, the plates cannot be arranged to block such an impact from directly behind the unit. The mechanical arms that hold and manipulate these boast heavy shock absorption but can be broken by basic bullet fire if struck. A plasma blade likewise can cut through these joins easily, but Herakles can use the protective plating as a blunt weapon to knock away attackers in a pinch, its processing speed much faster than human reaction.

**Shoulder Unit (Right)**

Hephestus Units: Hydra-Arrow Multipurpose Missile System: A trio of thick metal plates that can be extended out from the shoulders. They interlock to form a solid shield in front of the unit automatically to intercept attacks. Liam can take control of these units manually and making use of their interior component. Within each of them are a 32 medium-yield missiles, each fired in eight-round delivery patterns. When a barrage is fired, the component compresses and pushes the next 'batch' into the loading stage in much the same way a shotgun pushes a slug into the barrel. These serve as Asterion's go-to weapon for laying down fire and splitting up enemies due to the sheer number of projectiles it can fire with its total 96 count ammo capacity.

It should be noted only one of these weapon systems can be fired at once, the other two becoming unusable. This is to prevent the strain of the missiles taking off and the weight of the armor threatening to tear off the limb if too much force is applied. The missiles are also completely stable unless a purposeful charge is run through it, eliminating the risk of the explosive yield of the units detonating if struck by enemy fire.

**Shoulder Unit (Left)**

Trident 244mm Railgun - A compressed railgun used to penetrate highly armored targets or structures that conventional weapons cannot reach. While it has a medium-long range and is ineffective at short ranges due to its extended charge time. It takes five seconds to accelerate the projectile in its barrel to sufficient velocity, upon which a massive 244mm round its ejected from the barrel at Mach 7. The bullet can pierce thick structure walls and any sort of armor that a target is hiding behind, without a doubt destroying nearly any Helix frames in a single hit. The weapon is not affixed and can be rotated roughly 150 degrees in front of the unit, generally aligned at an angle with the shoulders of the unit so it can be protected from gunfire by the Hydra weapon system.

This weapon has several drawbacks, making it unsuitable to engage other Helix frames. First, Asterion is rendered immobile while operating the Trident. Its leg units have unique stakes that bolt it down into the ground to prepare for firing and its joints are calibrated before firing to most aptly resist the recoil. This lack of mobility makes it reliant on targeting a practically stationary target, such as structures or larger targets. The second con is after firing the unit must cool down for a full 60 seconds so as not to overtax the barrel or Asterion's joints resisting the kickback from the powerful cannon. Thirdly, this weapon has limited ammunition, only having eight shots before it is merely a scrap of metal weighing down Asterion.

Achilles: Shield units - Thick bits of metal that are manipulated by the Herakles AI system. They aren't as big as the Hydra system, but they're far more numerous. This allows them to be interlocked and positioned in various configurations to be able to cover a similar protective area. They cannot, however, be deployed while firing the Trident Railgun. Instead, these slabs are affixed into the shoulder unit to bolster its structural integrity against the gun's recoil.

The shield units can also be connected to the Aegis defense system to create a large shield to protect against practically any frontal assault.

**Back Unit**

Iokheira System - A pair of 80mm Gatling guns that are affixed the back of the unit by a pair of flexible secondary arms. Their positioning and configuration with the unit vary depending on how they're deployed. In their anti-air configuration, they are positioned behind the unit and aimed up towards the sky. Using data from the Hind radar and aided by the Herakles VI they automatically intercept incoming missiles and other targets at elevated positions. This occurs without any action from the pilot using a simple algorithm to prioritize and target possible threats. It can also be told to 'suppress' targets on the ground but likewise, it doesn't require any actual input from the pilot.

The second configuration is a manual firing mode in which the weapons are affixed underneath the arms of the Asterion. They are used in much the same way one can use arms and legs at the same time, four appendages moved independently of one another. They can all target separate quarries but the accuracy of the weapons is heavily reduced due to one's split focus. Typically Liam will use these additional arms to overlap his main weaponry's shots to make dodging entirely much more difficult, and when all four arms are targeted on the same area it makes it deliver unparalleled suppressive fire.

The most notable drawback to this secondary firing mode is the increased strain on Liam's brain causes mobility to plummet. While using it complex movement becomes impossible. The autonomous mode doesn't impose this sort of penalty.

**Chest**

Megara Phalanx System: A system built in tandem with the Herakles system, using its analytical data to distribute and intercept attacks with energy from its nuclear core. Using its weapon database and built up the experience to reference weapons it calculates forces and the 'amount' of shielding required and feeds this data into the Herakles VI. It can even imbue its entire shield into its forward shield to block high-velocity rounds such as Railcannons, so long as the shooter can be perceived on the Hind Radar visually. Using this 'all and nothing' method does leave the rest of the unit vulnerable if something were to strike it from behind while its shielding was down.

Since most of the energy is distributed towards defense, it makes mobility plummet. Thrusters are only able to offer minimal lift while the Megara is in operation. While it's offline Asterion can resume regular flight capabilities but its quite poor when compared to medium and light units.

**Waist**

Khryselakatos Reloading Unit: A dedicated system to reloading the 'Iokheira' weapon system on the unit's back. Three 'clips' for each of the automatic turrets, six in total, are bolted to the back of the waist of Asterion. The flexible mechanical arms are able to pivot and reload each of the 'Iokheira' Gatling units, and this causes Liam to rely on them the most often due to their abundant amount of ammunition as well as a wider spread.

Additionally, the Khryselakatos system also houses a pair of clips of ammunition for the Asterion's primary weapon, "Harpe".

**Right Arm**

Hades 110mm Cluster Mortar: A weapon built into the right arm of the Asterion, a two-round capacity mortar. Only usable at medium-range it ejects a rocket-propelled shell into the air. Upon reaching a satisfactory height it breaks apart upon which ten clusters of high-yield explosives rain down on the battlefield. It has a high enough scope of effect that it can reduce a quarter-mile of land to rubble, in much the same way an aerial craft might carpet bomb a small area. Its low capacity and long wind-up make it unusable outside of urban or populated battlefields.

Harpe 120mm Machine Gun: The Asterion's primary weapon with an extensive clip. Its generally used to peel away at Phalanx shields, using its hefty rounds to shred away defenses. Despite its rapid-fire use, it's quite accurate even if its target is many kilometers away. Underneath its barrel is a single use-grenade launcher, but it surprisingly only contains a smokescreen. It's obscuring load is deposited over a large area and uses particles to disrupt radar and other sensory devices. This is used since, as a general rule, Asterion has the advantage when laying down sieges or suppressive fire as well as sow panic into its enemies.

**Left Arm**

Persephone Anti-Electronic Mortar: EMP Stake Mortar, housing a two-round capacity. When fired it launches a long-range stake into enemy territory that upon impact emanates a powerful electromagnetic field that disrupts all conventional electronics and radar. Radar, Radio, and other systems within a single kilometer are rendered unreliable around the point of impact.

Aegis Defense System: A thick shield of metal that is bolted into Asterion's arm. Boasting the same high-tech shock-absorbing material as the rest of the shielding it has its own powerful shield emitters to project a powerful Phalanx Shield at the front of the Aegis, used in conjunction with Megara. It is quite a large piece, able to cover a region from the Asterion's knee to shoulder and protect it completely from harm. The projected barrier is strong enough to shrug off a series of modest missile impacts without issue.

Liam manually controls and positions the shield unit to block attacks but Herakles can bolster the Aegis through the Achilles system. The two systems can be linked and combined, interlocking to create an impregnable tower shield of sorts that has defensive properties equivalent to a fortress wall. In this mode, all frontal assaults are practically useless against the unit while it launches missiles and a barrage of machine-gun fire from behind safety.

**Right and Left Leg**

Orion Anti-Air Missile System: A cluster of missiles built into each of the Asterion's legs. It only sports two barrages in each unit, one for each side of the leg. Typically these are hidden in the armor around the bend of the leg. When deployed they eject out to the side and spray out on either side of the Asterion before converging on its target at long distance. Each cartridge has twenty small-payload missiles that move at supersonic speeds to intercept objects designated by Liam. Once both clips have been expended the unit can be ejected to lower the overall weight of the unit.

Alistar & EYE2

Name: Alistar "Annul" Gray

Appearance:


Personality: Alistar leans towards being carefree, though does not waste a second to assert who's in charge. Despite his rather lackluster physical traits, he's a quick and decisive mind. With sharp reflexes and a solid steady body, he shows precision that reminds most of a machine, a destroyer, hence his nickname "Annul". His mere gaze is described as piercing, though there is than meets the eye. Sometimes he'll put himself in a position to save someone he likes, despite his cold behavior. At times he can be rather foul-mouthed, his eternal sly smirk shifting to that of a distasteful frown.

Backstory: Born in southern Canada, near Mississauga, he lived the majority of his childhood near a United Empire base, watching the machines move around with fascination. He spent his life in schools as an unknown, not showing much care to anything other than history. Whenever HELIX Frames were brought up, his eyes glimmered with life and hope.

As soon as he turned 18, he went into the military and underwent the surgical procedure for the implant needed to even use a Frame. Whilst recovering from the surgery, a rebel group attacked the base, seeking to break the United Empire, many of his fellow soldiers were slaughtered in the coming onslaught, before they could even get their own Frames up and running. In a fury of vengeance, he left the infirmary and ran to the HELIX Frame hangar, climbing in one and taking control of it.

With his newfound weapon and mental strain from using one far too soon, he found himself weakened, but nonetheless he pressed on. With his plasma sword, he seeked slaughter, slaughter to the enemy. He approached a battered and damaged Frame from behind, then cut him down with one swift slice. Taking it's gun, he raised the barrel and fired upon another rebel, ripping it's shields apart from the sheer lane of fire. The machine swung around and dashed to him, slamming a mighty fist into the machine's torso, knocking him back and sending him skidding across the concrete floor. He brought up his gun and fired right into the Frame's torso, killing the pilot before he could slam right through the head of the machine. With another enemy on approach he ran behind cover, sending a kick right through the metal walls and into it's head before it fired. It then launched swarm missiles at Alistar, damaging his machine and plasma sword. He launched himself at the enemy, slamming heads together and a punch to the shoulder. With a returning punch from the enemy, he stumbled back, but kicked the enemy down, falling on it and replacing the machine's head with his fist. He won, if barely, but at what cost for him and the base?

Misc Info: He's 30, but looks to be in 20 due to anti-aging treatments. He prefers dark colors to bright ones, as they allow him to calm down.

HELIX Frame Sheet

Role: General purpose brawler.

Equipment:
Plasma Lances (x2) - Arm - These plasma lances are used against machines close up or to quickly strip down Phalanx Shields, they can also be charged up to fire a beam of plasma a short distance, capable of piercing through a Frame at maximum charge. They cannot be used while holding weapons, otherwise it'll cut right through them.

Smoke Capsules (x6) - Torso - These smoke capsules are used to hide itself from machines up close, they allow EYE2 to have enough time to move into an advantageous position.

Anti Missile Laser (x2) - Shoulder - The AML allows EYE2 to destroy incoming missiles with pinpoint accuracy. Interestingly, they also kill infantry instantly, and can hit them. When fired for too long they must vent their heat, and inadvertently affects the sensor arrays on EYE2.

MOTORVIPER - Hand - The MOTORVIPER is a general purpose assault rifle, capable of being used by any similarly sized HF with normal hands. It has enough ammo to tough through standard operations thanks to extra mags being kept hidden on the hips of EYE2. Due to not being a specialized weapon, it is special in no way, though EYE2 hits further and more accurately than predicted specifications.

NIGHTLING - Hand - The NIGHTLING is a heavy shotgun produced specifically for EYE2, it has a heavy round load capable of shredding through lighter Frames up close, however due to the recoil, it cannot be fired in quick succession. The NIGHTLING has a somewhat long reload time, as it must be fed rounds by an autoloader contained in EYE2's left hip.

Vanguard - Torso - The Vanguard system is used to enhance dashes in all directions except vertically, this allows EYE2 to suddenly speed up and change direction, however use of it wastes Phalanx Shields.

Hugin - Head - Hugin is used to analyze any close structure or HELIX Frame, analyzing what it may contain and structural weaknesses, usage of Hugin temporarily disables other sensor packages.

Munin - Torso - Using information gathered from Hugin, Munin works in tandem with the main processor to figure out if new Frames spotted match previously recorded information, showing Alistar predicted armaments. This is incredibly useful as he knows what to expect. Modified weapon systems will sometimes not show up properly for Munin's analysis.
