"Yup, Riku is his name," Liam confirmed. His Rotom phone pinged about someone in the World Coronation being nearby.
"Leefa! There you are!" A voice called out as Riku ran up. "Oh, Champion Coleman!" Riku said.
"Riku, you can just call me 'Liam'," Liam reminded Riku. Liam checked his phone as commented, "Ah, you are in the World Coronation as well huh?" Guess we can battle once I get my Pokémon back from healing. As if on command, Liam's Pokémon were finished healing and brought to him. Liam pressed the button to accept the battle. A Rotom drone flew down and announced it would be an official battle and each trainer could use one Pokémon. "Trainers! Send out your Pokémon!" The Rotom drone called out.
"Leefa!"
"Smaug!"
"Battle Begin!"
Liam activated his keystone and Mega Evolved Smaug to Mega Charizard Y, activating intense sunlight.
"Flamethrower!" Liam ordered.
"Protect!" Riku called. A green shield absorbed the fire attack.

Riku recalled Leefa and Dynamaxed her.
"Fire Blast!" Liam ordered.
"Use Max Phantasam!" Riku called.
The ghost-type move hit Smaug, lowering his Defense, while the powerful fire move hit the oversized target.
(Sun 2, Giganta 1)
"Blast Burn!" Liam ordered.
"Max Steelspike!" Riku called.
The Powerful Fire move and got the burn, while the Steel move hits its target, lowering Smaug's Defense more.
(Sun 3, Giganta 2)
Smaug had to Recharge on this round and could not move.
"Leefa, use Max Knuckle!" Riku called. This attack hit and increased Leefa's attack. Liam felt that Riku was prepping to make a big hit once the Gigantamax wore off. Smaug was in bad shape as Blaze activated.
(Sun 4, Giganta 3)
"Flamethrower!" Liam called. Smaug launched the jet of flames scoring a critical hit on Leefa, who was still standing.
"Leefa, Max Steelspike once more!" Riku ordered. The attack did not do much to Smaug, but did lower his Defense by another stage. Smaug would only take one, maybe two more hits at this rate before falling.
(Sun 5, Giganta End)
Leefa returned to her normal size, and Riku quickly called for a Quick Attack. Leefa missed and Smaug waited till she was as close range and used Blast Burn, getting the KO.
"Leefa is unable to battle, Smaug Wins! The victor is Liam Coleman! Effective immediately there has been a change in the rankings!" The Rotom Drone announced this before flying off. Liam's Rotom Phone pinged and Liam saw he got promoted to Great Class due to how close to the line Riku was when he defeated him. Liam praised Smaug for the good work and healed Leefa, praising her and Riku as well.
