Kay listened to what John was saying about the nightmare eaters and she felt disgusted that were truly things out there that preyed on children. She was glad that the child in question was coming out of their coma though. She could only imagine how elated that must make the parents when they get told of the update. Though when he coughed and held his head, she instinctively placed her hand on his head as if it would soothe him in some way.

She agreed they had to get out of here but her head snapped round when they all heard the crash and scream, making her bolt right off John's bed and stand upright. "I dunno but Chas and I can go check it out. You stay here" she said to him, "if we need you or Serena we can come get you but we'll go do recon" she suggested.

John nodded and said “ya…better stop Serena though” Serena was using her wheelchair to hop into the hallway where there was a small fight going on between security and a visitor. Serena sent one of her shadows over and said “hold on you two…looks like there’s a missing kid…the one yelling is her older brother. He left last night and everything was fine…when he came back her room was cleared of her things…and the staff have no idea what his talking about…”

She looked at Chas and said “she was up in the coma ward…I think we passed her room.”

Kay looked over to see what was going on with Serena when John told them to stop her. This made Kay instantly get up and peer round the door and down the corridor as she listened to Serena explain what she was picking up from the drama going on. "okay, that's strange. I can go take a look around to try and find her" she suggested, not liking the idea that a kid just goes missing, room cleared out and the staff don't know anything. It felt suspicious beyond belief and something needed to be done.

Chas wondered which kid it was, "we passed a couple of rooms, I wonder which one it is" he replied to Serena before actually realising what Kay said. "Kay we should stay out of it for now" he said, but it was no good, Kay was already exiting the room and half way down the corridor and to the older brother. "Babe! I came as soon as possible! Look we'll find her okay? I'll go take a look around myself" she suddenly spoke up whilst giving the bloke the look that said 'just roll with it, I can help'. She had played this sort of game before with people and it never really failed.

"dammit Kay" Chas muttered under his breath but he had to admit, it was impressive how seamlessly she slid herself into the situation as she looped an arm through the older brother's to look authentically like her girlfriend to the security. "and I think you should look too if you're any good at your jobs or I'll be filing in a formal complaint to the highest member of your team and make sure that you both get reprimanded for your sever lack of keeping a hospital ward of sick comatose children safe!" she said sternly at the security.

Serena groaned and held her face then an idea hit her. “They don’t have any idea…because she was forgotten. What if the water was sent to make it easier to grab a kid? We need to talk to the brother right now and figure out if there is any reason his sister could have been grabbed”

Serena moved and pointed to Kay and the brother then waved her to bring him back to them. “Chas, we need to find the room. I need to let the shadows search the room and find clues” John linked over and frowned. “The guy has an aura…she could have been grabbed because of magic in the family blood line…we need to talk to him”

Kay didn't even think about what her actions would do when it came to the others, she just grew an idea and wanted went with it, almost forgetting that she had a team with her this time round. She didn't even notice John's frown at what he was seeing, if she did she would have possibly thought 'oh shhit yeah... He likes me too' but it didn't occur to her at all. She noticed Serena gesturing for her to bring the guy over to them and gave a slight light tug after the security walked away, seemingly to do their jobs. As she brought him over she apologised for pouncing on him like that, but knew it would work. She explained that her group could help them find his sister.

Chas as he watched on Kay work her tactic, he had to admit that it was impressive how easily she could put on such a character, before noticing John's frown, whilst listening to Serena talk and John. "looks like Kay is on the same wave length to some extent, she's bringing him over."he replied," and John, remember it's all an act yeah?" he said more quietly, only for him to hear.

John nodded but still didn’t like it as Kay walked the brother over. Serena smiled at him and said “we can help. But we need to know a few…” John suddenly stopped her and said “one sec…” he muttered something in Serena eat who then nodded.

Serena then sent a shadow into the brothers and said “we want to help find your sister. What else can you tell us about her? About what happened?”

John took Kay and muttered “we need to search the room…he has no magic knowledge.”

When she reached the others, Kay let go of the brother when she saw it was totally okay to do so and it was only then she truly saw the disapproving and dare she say it...jealous look on John. She let Serena talk with the brother and followed John as he pulled her to one side to talk quietly to her. "okay well let's go then when we get a room number" she spoke quietly back to him. She took his hand into her own and wondered how he would even cope going up an entire floor in his state but wasn't going to get into it now.

The brother sighed running his hands through his ruffled hair for the millionth time out of his stress of his baby sister going missing. "I don't know what to tell you. I was in her room with her nearly all night last night, I only left to get some air, rest and refreshments. When I came back she was gone, room utterly cleared out of everything she had and no one in this damn place knows what I'm on about." he explained. "she's just right years old and the only family I have left. I can't lose her, how can you all help, you look like you got own problems going on" he commented.

Serena smiled and rested a hand on his shoulder. “Because we are the masters of dealing with problems. Now, is there anyone in you and your sisters life that gives you a bad feeling? That seems too interested in you both?”

John looked back at the brother and tilted his head. “It’s strange…I can tell he has magic in his blood…but he acts like he has no knowledge of it…is he hiding it? Or is it hidden from him…” he looked at Chas and said “what room was the eater in. I can find it from there”

The older brother of the missing girl looked down at his shoulder as Serena placed her hand on him wondering what it was with the women in this group and wanting to touch him, though he wasn't entirely complaining when it was Serena. He thought about her question, knowing it would take a bit of thinking as they didn't really know many people. He was the only parent figure in his sister's life. "I can't think of anyone. It's just myself and my sister Trish, I'm practically raising her myself as our parents died two years ago. It was put in their wills that I was to be her legal guardian and bring her up." he explained with a sad sigh, showing it was still a raw thing to talk about. "So when she got sick I got worried senseless and brought her here, but she kept getting worse and fell into a coma." he added, swallowing back a lump that appearing in his throat.

CHas looked over to Kay and John when John asked him what room the eater was in, "uhh...." he thought back to see if he made a note of the room, "room 218" he stated, knowing that John and Kay won't stop unless they can do something and for once he had to agree it was the right thing to do. Hearing this guy talk and get choked up on his words, Chas couldn't help but feel great sympathy for him. The guy didn't much older than mid twenties and here he was raising an eight year old all by himself and now she was missing. He knew if it was him and his daughter Geraldine and not Josh and Trish in this situation, like it once was he would be going absolutely out of his mind to try and get her back. "You can trust this lot, they're bloody good at getting people back" he reassured the man.

The bloke nodded, running a hand through his shaggy short brown hair once more, "Thanks....my name is Josh by the way" he decided to introduce himself.

John nodded and said “come on, Kay, let’s go hunting” he lead her to the lifts and walked in, rolling his good shoulder. When they were alone he said “that was smooth back there…I think that kid thought you were his girlfriend…”

Serena smiled and said “Serena Shade, this is Chas. The two that just left are Kay and John. We will find her, that I promise” she looked around and then moved the guys back into her room and said “okay…let me try something” she moved her hand and the shadows moved and left the room. She looked at Chas and said “lucky for us shadows are like scents. I can track them. If Trish is in the building Ill be able to find her”

John and Kay found the room easily since it was the only one without a kid in it. John was looking around and said “windows are locked…and you have to sign out kids with legal guardians so they didn’t walk her out. My bet she’s somewhere in the building. My guess…something released the eater and then moved the girl to another part of the hospital…”

He looked around then said “somewhere no one goes…where it won’t be bothered…”

Kay walked over to the elevator with John and got inside when the doors opened. She was half expecting him to say something about her little stunt but she didn't know when, so when he did she glanced at him with a slight smirk on her face and a glint in her eyes, "Jealous are we?" she asked teasingly. "I had to do something to get him over to us and make the security do something" she then explained.

Josh nodded as Serena introduced herself and Chas finding her name truly unique but it had a nice ring to it, before he nodded his hello to Chas and shaking his hand at the same time. When she said about trying something, he rose an eyebrow wondering what she was doing with her hand and stepped back in surprise when a shadow figure seemed to escape from her and go off on its own. "What the....?" he asked baffled, wondering if he was hallucinating this whole thing or not. Magic wasn't real...was it?
Chas yet again was amazed at how impressive Serena's powers truly were and he couldn't help but wonder if it this was kind of tracking power that made her find Kay that one night. "And with John and Kay doing the rounds as well, we're bound to find her. of that I have no doubt" he replied.

On the right floor, Kay walked with John to find the only room without a child, stepping inside and seeing how empty it truly was. There was absolutely no clue that a child was ever in here, let alone any kind of break in or kidnapping clues. "If she's in a place where the eater won't be disturbed then I'm going to say it's somewhere in the staff only quarters or..." she started saying before suddenly getting a brainwave idea, "The basement...no one ever goes down there apart from people who work in the morgue, so it'd be the person place to hide someone like a small child" she told him.

Serena rolled her neck and nodded. “I use that trick a lot. But it only works if I have touched the shadow before or I can touch the shadow of the blood link. Which is a sibling in this case” she smiled at Josh then swayed a little; catching herself on the bed frame. “Sorry…still out of it a little…lucky my leg is healing at the fast speed I normally do…”

John smirked and nodded. “It’s dark and quiet. Let’s head down there.” He paused by the door and looked down. He frowned and leaned down, touching a dark spot on the floor. “That’s odd…this is chalk. Black chalk…it’s only used in sealings against any of the holy nature…”

Josh was absolutely baffled about what he was being told and even more baffled that Chas seemed completely unphased by it. Who were these people? So many many questions racing through his mind but something told him these very people could help him as well. Out of instinct, he went to help her steady herself but stopped when he saw she had it under control. "okay... So...how long do we wait for...whstever it is we're waiting for" he asked, still trying to wrap his head around everything.

The fact that John avoided answering the question on if he was jealous didn't go amiss on Kay and made her smirk to herself briefly before refocusing onto the situation at hand, but she couldn't help but wonder was he truly jealous when she faked being that guy's partner? She shook the thought of her mind, thinking she was completely wrong. It seemed so ludricous that John Constantine could be jealous. She went to exit the room with him when he noticed the black chalk. "so what does that mean? Is this room under a cloaking spell or something?" she asked.

Serena smiled weakly and said “not long…I kinda want to take bets who gets a lead first…my shade or John?” She smirked, totally kidding and trying to lighten the mood. She looked at Chas and then said “any idea what could make the staff forget she was here?” Then she looked at Josh and asked “what was Trish here for anyway?”

John frowned and said “no…it’s was being hidden by dark magic to hide from the heavenly sort…but why? Come on, the sooner we find the girl the sooner we can get out of here”

Chas had to smirk as he knew he was the only one who would be able to bet on that idea if they remotely serious about said bet. "I think it'd be a tough call to make." he smirked back before removing the smirk and going serious as Serena asked Josh what made him bring Trish in in the first place. "she had an asthma attack, we tried using her inhaler and everything else we could but nothing was working, she ended up passing out from not being able to breathe and I quickly picked her up and drove her here...the docs tried to wake her but by the time she got here she fell into a coma due to lack of oxygen to the brain." Josh explained, his tone and broken speech showing just how worried he was and how hard it was to discuss. It was his little sister and he felt he failed her somehow.

Kay listened to what he was saying and nodded in understanding. "right, let's get moving" she agreed, not wanting a mere child to be in anymore danger than she already was. It broke her heart to know a child was being attacked in such a way. She headed out the room and found her way to the right elevator that would take them down to the basement. "I just hope we get to the kid in time" she said as the elevator opened its doors and she stepped inside with John.

Serena rubbed her neck and said “okay…she didn’t fall into the coma till she got here. So she could have been affected by the nightmare eater when they came. So it couldn’t have been planned unless her inhaler was messed with…” she looked at Chas and said “with the eater gone, she would have woken up by now. Where…” then her shadow returned and returned to her shadow. Serena closed her eyes and read it before saying “basement. We are heading to the morgue. Come on” she started to limp out, using the wall.

John stepped in with her and as the doors closed said “me neither…but we will find her. Let’s check the morgue first. If she was affected by the eater then she would be waking up soon…and if she wakes up in a body locker…she is going to be scared to death” then he paused and his eyes got wide. “Holy…that’s the whole point. Fear.” He looked at Kay and said “it’s not someone after her…it’s someone who wants fear. I bet she is scared of small spaces. It’s the nightmare eaters mate. They sometimes travel in pairs” John limped over and tapped the down button. “We have to hurry now…”

Josh had no idea what Serena was talking about, nightmare eater? His mind felt it was going to explode fromt he influx of information that he never thought he would ever be hearing. He watched as she closed her eyes and seemed to get information from her shadow, then reopened her eyes. Chas looked at him and saw he was full of questions, "You can ask us all the questions later, but it's a good thing you're questioning these things, trust me" he told Josh before looking at Serena when she said they needed to head down to the morgue. "The morgue!?" Josh asked shocked and was beginning to think the worst as he helped Serena with Chas.

The idea of a young child waking up in a morgue in a body bag or something similar made Kay feel extremely angry. She watched him as he seemed to figure something out, panic in his eyes. "Shit!" she cursed, letting him press the button to get down to the morgue as quickly as possible. As the lift finally closed its door and headed down, it felt forever but in reality it was less than a minute before they reached the basement and the doors opened again. It was dark, dingy and what lighting there was, was poor. Luckily they could still see the signage for the morge and she wasted no time in rushing to the morgue, not caring if they were caught on camera being down there, where they shouldn't be. She did however make sure she didn't leave John behind. "I swear, if something happens to this kid...." she muttered.

Serena nodded and said “don’t worry. She’s still alive. If she wasn’t my shadow wouldn’t have found her. It can tell the difference between living and non living…” she made it to the hallway and paused, getting light headed and the hallway spun for a moment. “We just need to…get down there…”

John followed her and pushed his limits to run down the hallway. He slammed into the wall and shoved the door open. They saw the girl hiding under the table and above the table was a hooded creature. But instead of the black hood, this one had white hood. John cursed and said “She is awake and it’s hungry” he whistled and said “hey you git! Mess with someone your own size!” He looked at Kay and said “get the girl. Burn that thing if you have too. Just get her out” he an forward and tackled the creature, clearing the path for Kay.

Josh hoped Serena was right, having to put trust in something he didn't understand in the slightest. "I hope you're right" he muttered before seeing her sway and pause due to getting light headed. "Maybe you should be doing this to help me. You look like you're gonna drop any second" he said with concern in his voice at her state. She was a patient herself and here she was trying to help him. He felt selfish asking for her help when she needed to recover herself.

Kay made it to the morgue with him and let him shove the door open seeing the hooded figure and the girl. When he antagonised the creature, she nodded at his words after, "got it, you stay safe okay? Don't die on me" she told him before seeing him charge the creature and tackle it, clearing the path for her. She instantly ran over to the child and knelt down, holding her hand out for her to take, "come here, we're here to help, we can take you to your brother sweetie" she said soothingly but urgently to the child. "I know you're scared but we gotta go...now" she added urgently.

Serena turned and smiled a true honest smile and said “I wouldn’t do anything else then help others in need…come on” she walked away and pushed herself to the lifts. She had a feeling they would be needed downstairs. She got into the lifts and waited till the guys were in, swaying on her feet again but she fought it back.

Trish looked up, her face covered in her tears. “Brother? His here? Please I want to go home” she hugged Kay and let her get her out of the room. John got the creature pinned and was holding it down but he wasn’t at his full strength so the creature got a hold of him and started to feed off of him, draining him as he yelled “get out now! Go Kay!” He felt himself getting weaker but he couldn’t let it go. Trish’s life depended on it.
