The Concept:
A vast world divided in several continents and even more factions. The goal? Total domination.
Each player creates his/her own faction/nation within the world, or joins as part of an already existent one.
The players in the world engage in several ways, such as Political-military-diplomatic RP between factions or subfactions. This is where the real test of intrigue and determination is usually put! But epic, large scale nation-centric rp is not the only form that can be seen, as thhere may be players interested in hosting Lore Events. Tales DMed by people owning factions, who wish to let players explore further the lore of each land or faction in more narrative, or personalized stories.

This endeavor is to open a large world with a cooperative and competitive conquest system, allowing the players to make their own mark in the world.

The setting is Medieval-styled fantasy. Magic is meant to be present, yet there may be players who wish their nations being more into arcane, while this is not a prerequisite.

I am actually also thinking to establish a very loose mechanic for players to be able to evaluate eachother's army's or character's strength level, so that there will be no space for misinterpretation, should the engagement becomes competitive!

SO, with these said, I was curious to see if people would be down for such a setting, so that I could shoot some mapping and preparation for the fun to launch!

Could you be a bit more specific on what sort of tone you want for the setting? The details seem a bit...sporadic.

I also don't think "World Domination" is the greatest of goals in terms of players: Medieval kingdoms were pretty reliant on people just not lying to keep running on a daily basis, and lo and behold, it turns out that noblemen and the aristocracy were very much capable of lying. Having it be an explicit goal on the highest level I don't think lends to people cooperating and being all too interested in really playing things out.

Now, high fantasy setting where an Empire has already conquered the world, and as soon as the conqueror dies, the entire empire starts to crumble apart, and you play as factions either wanting independence or to keep this sinking ship afloat? That's a bit more of an interesting take.

As much as I hate to be "that guy", it might be better to get some exprience roleplaying on this site before jumping into trying to GM your own RP. I know you have exprience on other sites but trying to use that exprience alone on a different site is a pretty shortsighted belief, and one that's pretty common. Your hook is really, really weak since what you have is pretty much the baseline for all NRPs here. Plus you're so new that people are less likely to jump on your idea since you are more or less completely unknown and the NRP community on this site at least is pretty close/small (or even insular).

Also as what Yam said, having an RP where people are competing with each other instead of cooperating on an out of character/meta sense does not lead to good out comes most of the time. Once people see their nation as part of themselves and not as an independent creation, that is when you get a lot of arguing, people trying to push the limits and boundaries. Overall its not a healthy mindset for an RP.

Again, I am not saying to turn my nose up and be an elitist snob, I'm just being blunt since this kind of situation has happened a lot and it always ends with the new person asking why aren't people as passionate as they are about their idea or RPing and just leave.

tbh I'd say that something being perfectly flat and formless isn't the worse thing that could be done. Sometime you just need a sandbox to do shit in and feel something out before you run it elsewhere. You never really know. If we let ourselves get too caught up on having so many unique hooks and catches then I feel like we could just become a host to infinite gimmicks. It's not like we really have a sandbox for this section of the site to run newbies through anyways and just sort of trust any of them would be able to approach any of our infinitely unique NRP concepts or deepest lores. So I think someone new to the area coming in with a nice barren sandbox RP would be nice to have, if to give even experienced writers here something low stakes to stretch things out in and even mingle more broadly.

As for what's been said about coming with a unique system: I wouldn't try. It often leads to a lot of railroadism and takes out a significant portion of the organic development of an RP, which should justifiably be about the stories. Now I'm sure you could probably come up with a good stat system but I think a lot of 'selling' that would come down to trust in the good sense of the GM and does require you're just a familiar face and have developed a base to help you. But in general in my personal opinion it's absolutely unnecessary, it's probably a hinderance even. The best stat system or mechanical system to an NRP is one that doesn't exist at all. Being able to build trust and cooperation between players is more the priority than having to build Yet Another Paradox Grand Strategy Title. After all: I do this after my job, why would I want to work a second?

I can say however: for a potential medieval setting global conquest is probably overambitious as all hell, even conceptually. It would take armies years to cross any amount of territory and the political systems that make up a "medieval" world are not centrally built enough to handle grandiose global conquest, they've typically fallen apart relatively quickly or at large scale begin to resemble factional relationships between local gentries than solidified, centralized nation-states. So if you want to go medieval, it would be in everyone's and the setting's best interests to just be regional. Otherwise a globalized medieval RP would either have people too far apart to mean anything.

Make your roman empire rule the world sounds very complicated for a time before advanced travel or maybe do an Alexander the great effect which is basically ruling the known world I think would be better but if its world conquest you might need to bump a little the tech tree.

Yeah, this is pretty much a fact even people who just go off for most of the time know each other somewhat...

To be a pedantic little bitch: he didn't even do that. He marched east, not west. He kind of just let Italy vibe and Europe to Iberia would have been part of the known world to the likes of Alexander.

That's true but for most, he had conquered more than half of the known world.

Well, that went strangely enough way different than initially plannet, truth be told!

With an arguably gargantuan delay, due to weird elements popping rirght and left, I am finally officially back to address this post. Dayum, im awful sometimes xD <3

Could you be a bit more specific on what sort of tone you want for the setting? The details seem a bit...sporadic.

The idea is to take NRP in a different perspective, kind-of. World Domination is the highest goal. You have a huge sandbox map with effectivelly limitless potential. Some may come up with fractured empires they want to rebuild and thats it. Others may come with necromancers who want to end the world. Others may come with simple chill feudal lords or even lower nobles just chilling about.

The idea behind "World Domination" is to allow as above stated by many writers in the post, have a huge place everyone can be and make a name for themselves. An ever expanding (Although within reason) world concept in which we can all have our own ground. Wanna compete for territory and punch eachother in battle posts and huge wars? Wanna live about and make a small place for yourself? Wanna make a horde and just bulldoze through realms cause plunder? All these things can be a thing, in a place where the rules that run it are rather thin, so everyone can have the closest thing to his/her very own conept in it.

The idea behind the "unique system" is simply to state 3 basic numbers (which are in no way set in stone) for the purpose of solving disputes, if they even errupt. If I battle your soldiers with mine, under ceteris paribus (ignoring all other in character sauce which may change the result. literally, my 50 against your 50) then we see. I have lets say armour 3 and you have weapon 4 (random numbers). This means, in a full straight duel, each of your troops should be able to eventually overcome mine, based on these. Will this matter in rp? Hell no, we play for the scene not the math. BUT. If I start arguing about validity of effect, and drama is about to kick in, throwing simple 4-numbered sheets will effectivelly stand as a mediator between players. Yes, I havent been in this forum alot, due to personal reasons of past few months and the fact I literally discovered it 3 months ago, but I feel that safety switches must always be at a hand's reach, when having several people boiling in a single pot.

Just to be the nerd on this, yes, Alexander did try to conquer literally the world. After turning back from india, he had plans on sailing to Italy and going after gibraltar, but he kinda died midway so there was that xD Persia was literally the only standing superpower which could oppose him, so dealing with them was a necessity. <3 Then he would war around. Ofcourse his successors kinda didnt share this plan... :( would be cool tho, given we did see rome vs Seleucids multiple times toe to toe.

only one way to find out >:)

no rush ^_^ I personally feel this might be a long endeavour. I could start setting stuff up, slowly people can hop in.

I will be making a thread in the NRP, so people can see more or less the concept being built.

As much as I hate to be "that guy", it might be better to get some exprience roleplaying on this site before jumping into trying to GM your own RP. It would be to my hope that, although it is my initiative, it wouldn't be a railroad GM from my side, but a sandbox world building experience for everyone who shares similar ideas. Or.... rather different ones... and we all end up in a century-long carnage against the Kobold Reich :o
