• His eyes are a rarity of genetic code, being a warm honey brown which always have the strongest glimmer of hope

• It's not uncommon for him to tie his hair back in some way, be it a simple tail, a tiny bun, or even a pair of intricate braids
• Kelly wears prescription lenses which often sit low on the bridge of his nose, the left lens is now cracked beyond reason

• At times his lack of seriousness can get him into trouble, as he often becomes careless with his decisions

Background:

Growing up, Kelly had what many could think to be the perfect childhood. The classic picture of an upper-middle-class family. Summers were spent vacationing in countries far away, and holidays were had with the whole of the family in a large cabin nestled deep in the woods. He and his brother attended only the best private schools where they and their mutual friends would get into all kinds of mischief, all of which was simple fun in the end, and on weekends, Kelly and his mother would spend their time tending to the little vegetable garden in the backyard while listening to audiobooks and various podcasts as they came about. It was a storybook life for Kelly, but every story has its conflict...
When Kelly was fifteen, his mother was the victim of a deadly, and truly horrible, crime. The offender was never caught.
Things changed after that. Kelly's father, a doctor, buried himself in his work, taking on extra shifts and rarely ever being home, let alone having time for their yearly trips abroad. His brother, going into college, became obsessed with criminal law, and immersed himself in his studies, vowing to one day make right what had happened to their mother, in one way or another. Even his friends, once always by his side, seemed to suddenly disappear into their own lives, just when he needed them most. At the end of it all, Kelly was alone...
It wasn't until a few years later, after a major collision off the side of a highway late one stormy night, that the depression was finally noticed, as it was quickly found that the crash wasn't so much of an accident as one would hope. After some time in the hospital, Kelly eventually made his way back to school, and in honor of his mother and their shared passion, he set his focus on agriculture. Through his studies, Kelly was able to begin healing, as he found new meaning in life, and somewhere along the way, he decided to set his focus on using his education to assist others.
He worked hard through his classes, though, unlike his brother, Kelly managed to still make time for social activities, and it wasn't long after receiving his bachelor's that he met the man he would one day wed. A storybook meet-cute, as fitting to Kelly's life as it could ever have been, and the proposal a few years later was as magical as any fairytale. It was a dream come true, and Kelly refused to be woken up. So long as he kept his head down, did as he was asked, and covered up the bruises, there was nothing to worry about! ...Right...?
It was an argument over his plans following the receiving of his master's that finally brought Kelly back to reality. Set on helping others, Kelly wanted to enlist to aid in assisting far-off countries, but Viktor did not approve. In fact, the man that Kelly had loved forbade it. The words Viktor spoke that night burned into Kelly, and he had finally had enough of the man's controlling ways. There was no screaming match. No hands were thrown. Kelly simply got up, packed a bag, and left. When Viktor grabbed him to stop him, Kelly gave only an ultimatum and nothing more, "Touch me again, and I'll call my brother before I even think of calling the police."
It wasn't long after the divorce was settled that Kelly settled himself into his seat aboard the C-130, and he prepared himself for what would turn out to be the ride of his life.

• Almost always has a pun or two up his sleeve, no matter the situation
• Dad jokes and dark humor are his specialty, he'll be the first one to joke about cannibalism

• He's an absolute wackadoo and will do everything in his power to get people to loosen up and goof around

• He starts off very much in denial and repressing his emotions
• A big emotional ticking time bomb set to blow at any moment
• He must learn to come to terms with his fear and sadness
• Without the help of his antidepressants, he'll eventually need more help than ever
• He must learn to trust and rely on others, and most importantly, let others into his life

• Although she begins in charge, she will look for a way to delegate most if not all of her responsibility. For the past few years, she's been wanting to settle back and just enjoy life. Aid work is stressful and, at times, traumatizing.

Psychological Description/Personality:

• Quiet. Very quiet. He is a man of very few words and even fewer emotions
• A true analyst, he spends most of his time listening and watching others
• Prone to eavesdropping, he can be a bit nosey, and tends to give his opinion where it doesn't belong
• While he often comes off as cold and uncaring, he would truly give his own life for the life of his patients if he could
• Highly protective, he's not one to hesitate or hold back if things become physical
• That said, he's known to have a very cold level of anger, and rarely, if ever actually jumps to violence unprovoked
• If you piss him off, you're much more likely to be treated as though you don't exist than receive a hit to the jaw
• Somewhat traditional, he believes in protecting women and children at all costs and will punish any man who dares to hurt either

(coming soon, I'm babysitting atm so it's hard to focus, but here are some notes: he attended boys' schools growing up and was sent to a military academy in his later youth where he later went on to serve a couple of years before being discharged after a minor injury left him relying on a cane for some time. set his sights on medical school during his recovery and eventually made his way into the Doctors Without Borders program. Met his first wife in medical school, and they were together throughout even to their first residency at the local hospital; split up soon after the birth of their youngest when it was found that she was seeing another man. Met his second wife when he joined DWB; they split when Hein wanted to re-enlist after the birth of their daughter and Angela disagreed. Met his third wife after settling back in the States and continuing residency at a new hospital; they split after the third loss of their attempt at having children, their beautiful rainbow baby being lost some months later to unknown causes; Trin blames Hein as a doctor for not being able to save any of them...)

Other:

• Most everyone familiar with him calls him Heineken, Heini, or just Hein, a nickname which came about during his military days
• The name has little to do with actual alcohol, and amusingly, Hein doesn't even partake
• While he no longer needs the cane he once relied on after his injury, he still has a notable jerk to his gait and suffers chronic pains
• Relies heavily on heavy-duty pain medication and has been living with an unchecked addiction for some time now

Direction for your Character:

• For the most part, he will simply be doing all that he can to ensure the survival of as many souls as possible
• As time goes on, however, his addiction will become an issue as he starts taking pain medication for himself
• If caught and forced to give up his addiction, he will have to deal with the withdrawals
• Either way, there will come a point where he will become desperate, and his morals may be crossed...

• Upon taking on the project, his hair had recently been dyed a deep, dark purple, though the natural tone is a dark brown, which will eventually show as the purple fades and the bleached hair grows out
• He has several beauty marks and a rather distinguishable birthmark on the back of his left hand which vaguely resembles a raven
• Possesses several piercings and a half sleeve of tattoos on his right arm made up of various flowers and mushrooms, depictions of ravens, butterflies, and foxes, and some literary imagery such as books, scrolls, and quill and inkwell. A few quotes ar present as well, one of these being "There is no darkness but ignorance ─ Willaim Shakespeare"

Psychological Description/Personality:

• In a single word: Brat
• Jae-Seong is anything but the caring type and has little compassion or empathy to give
• Young and somewhat full of himself, he's often ignorant of the bigger picture of things
• Entitled, even, Jae-Seong often puts his own needs and feelings above those of others
• He is selfish, apathetic, and sometimes even cruel, having absolutely no patience for anyone or anything if it doesn't benefit himself, and often letting his irritation bring him to lash out at others for no reason other than him growing tired of someone talking
• A rebellious one too, he doesn't do well with authority and refuses to take orders from anyone, even if those orders have his best interest at heart
• He is foolish and blindsided, wrapped up in his own little head and caring only for what Jae-Seong wants

Education: A few years in film school, he graduated with high marks, and some of his short films made during that time received honored awards. He has some martial arts training, but it's nothing to gloat about. Has a good few hours of training on official flight simulators, but has never flown an actual plane, unsurprisingly.

(babysitting again, so notes here once more: nothing significant about his childhood, used to be a really sweet kid, but changed in high school after falling in with a less than upstanding crowd. kept with this crew through community college and film school and made his first big break with a documentary he made about the rise of suicides following the mass murder of several students at that very school. went on to make similar, dark documentaries, finding a fascination in the suffering of others, as well as in finding the explanation for said suffering. never would have considered taking up the project for the C-130's mission had his friend and cameraman not insisted on going.)

Direction for your Character:

• He's just gonna be an annoying little jackass, honestly
• Maybe he'll learn something, or maybe he won't, just depends on the circumstances
• Absolutely has a near-death experience at some point, you know, in addition to the crash; does this change him, who knows, only one way to find out!
• Definitely want him to find a boyfriend, but whether that boyfriend is a healthy relationship or not is up for debate

Dr. Annelise Jennings, Cardiothoracic Surgeon

Physical Description: 5’3 in stature. Used to exercise regularly and although not bulky, her body is clearly toned. No tattoos or major scars.

Psychological Description/Personality: A kind-hearted individual by nature. At times feels she must right any wrongs and bring justice to light, which has gotten her into trouble quite a few times in the past. Often quiet and pensive, and if caught, will apologize and smile for her lack of presence. Though the tragedy that struck nearly a decade ago brought her to her knees and left her bedridden for days, she’s since improved. Needless to say, she does to this day have nightmares and if triggered just right, she may hallucinate for a very short period of time. This happens if someone she comes across has the same, or very similar mannerisms as her husband.

Education: University of Florida alumni. Attended the college from freshman year up to medical school where she was awarded her MD upon completion.

Background: Born into a middle class family without any brothers or sisters, Annelise had a relatively easy upbringing. Her family was well off and she got the chance to attend some of the better private schools in the area. Being a young child, she often got the question of “What do you want to be when you grow up?”, and her response was always the same: a doctor. Her passion never left her, and she studied her way into multiple scholarships with that one goal in mind.

Eventually, once she graduated, Annelise took that summer break to travel non-stop. She visited many destinations, even some impoverished locations, and she also met her future husband, Marcus Jennings, while in Europe. The two hit it off almost immediately and had practically been inseparable since whenever they were in the same city. Being only a year older than her, Marcus transferred to her college prior to the start of the new semester. They moved in together that January and about a year prior to her graduating med school, Marcus asked her to be his wife.

The wedding was simple, but nice. Family and close friends, maybe a work associate of Marcus or two in attendance, Annelise didn’t really count. She’d hired a wedding planner who come to find out would have a whole lot in common with her. Stacy became her close friend, and in no time the two were sharing secrets and the occasional gossip as if they were in high school all over again.

Everything seemed well for some years to follow until unfortunately, Marcus fell ill without warning. Annelise took some time off to spend it with him, but she only grew sadder when day after day, there was no improvement and no promises from his doctors. She was frantic, and amidst the chaos, Marcus’ only sibling, Chris, came to town to be with his bedridden brother. His mere presence made Annelise feel uneasy, and her suspicions were confirmed when he tried hitting on her, cornering the woman in one of the break rooms in the hospital. A few moments later Marcus passed away, and the timing couldn’t have been worse as she wasn’t by his side but instead, she was fighting off his brother.

Annelise took some additional time for herself, eventually returning to the hospital where she would go on to pick up as many shifts as her body would allow. Her superiors were concerned, as well as her family and friends. Eventually, with the help of a therapist, Annelise was able to cope with her emotions a little better, once more finding joy in the simple pleasures of life but not without the occasional break down and crying whenever her emotions got the better of her.

How she came across this humanitarian aid mission? The Chief of Cardiothoracic Surgery within the hospital actually recommended her for the position. He thought it’d do her good and seeing she didn’t have much to lose, Annelise agreed to go and lend a helping hand.

Other: Annelise doesn’t take any medication per se, but she does have trouble sleeping. Since her husband’s passing, she’s sleepwalked a few times, but she has not been all that active and does go back to sleep in less than five minutes.

Direction for your Character: Survive and get back home. She will help to the best of her ability but understands her limitations. Having a good friend or two wouldn’t hurt. She’s not looking for any romantic involvement at the moment, but she does desire for intimacy and physical contact, though this is not evident.

• She has her mother's face and her father's somewhat comedically large ears, which stick out ever so slightly
• She is seldom seen without her backpack, in which she carries her com-board, a journal, some pens, and a small plush highlands cow

Psychological Description/Personality:

• Curiosity is by far her strongest trait, that and innocence
• She is far too trusting for her own good and has never really been wary of strangers
• She believes that everyone is good, especially adults, for why would she be told to find one when lost
• Somewhat gullible, really, she believes most of what people tell her, and it takes a truly absurd claim for her to actually question someone

Background:

(babysitting again, i swear some day I'll make these more than notes: most important is that her parents died in the crash and she is now all alone. has always been a highly curious child, which has always gotten her into trouble to some degree, most of it harmless.)

Other:

• She is completely deaf and relies on mostly sign language to communicate, though carries a simple com-board and can write when needed
• She wasn't always deaf but rather lost her hearing around the age of 3 or 4 due to a rare degenerative issue, as a result, she doesn't really remember being able to hear so much as she remembers sound, specifically music, which she still enjoys in a new way
• She can recognize some categories of sound based on their vibrations and enjoys the rhythmic vibrations of music the most

Direction for your Character:

• Her curiosity will no doubt get her into trouble one day, be it her wandering too far off into the jungle and not being able to hear a predator coming, or her stumbling across someone's dark secret and them not being too happy about it...
• I want her to be somewhat of a "sneaky peaky spy" to take the good words of Junie B. Jones, basically she spends her days following others around, with or without their knowledge, and silently collects all the juicy secrets, which she may or may not share with third parties

Family and Background:

• She was the eldest of three daughters (born to parents yet to be described).
• While on a hike at age 12, her younger sister got lost in mountainous woods and died of exposure.
• Paula, feeling responsible for her sister's death, never recovered from it.
• Her emotional trauma led to promiscuity and, at 16, a pregnancy and subsequent abortion.
• She dropped out of school at 17.
• Weeks later, family conflict let to Paula leaving home at 17.

• After quitting high school, Paula worked low wage jobs while going to Community College.
• She got her GED and completed 5 part-time semesters at a local Community College before dropping out to join the US Army at 19.

Background:

• His father, a high-ranking military officer, saw no need to care for him after his mother died when he was roughly seven years old
• Rather, the man enlisted him in a military boarding academy, where he would spend the rest of his childhood years
• Growing up in such a way, Desmond became rather cold to the world, yet kept the utmost respect for his father, much as he despised the man for never being part of his life
• Even through his graduation, Desmond remained in the life that had been set for him, seeing no other logical path
• His work with the Marines eventually led him to the boy he would eventually adopt as his own, though he has yet to refer to Tyrelle as his "son"; most often, he only ever refers to him as his "boy"
• He met Tyrelle as one of a few survivors from a human trafficking ring of which he was part of the take-down
• He took it upon himself to take the boy under his wing after it was revealed Tyrelle had no living family to return to
• It was something of a court battle, for sure, but in the end he took the boy into his home and introduced him to the life he had lived for so many years, giving him personal training on top of the regulation training he would receive once Desmond entered the boy into the academy
• He ended up making quite the name for himself by taking Tyrelle into his care, and he has always secretly enjoyed the fame, though insists that he despises it
• When requested to join the C-130 mission as part of their security team in remarks to his work done with foreign matters in the past, he insisted that Tyrelle come with him so the boy may have real-world training

• He only ever had one relationship in his life, as a boy in military school, with an older boy who often took advantage of him as his superior
• This older boy was eventually discovered to be doing this with not just Desmond, but other boys as well, and was arrested and tried as an adult for his crimes

• One of the main reasons he took Tyrelle in is he knew without even questioning that the boy had experienced similar pains

• He's intended to be an antagonistic character, cruel and somewhat selfish, especially towards Tyrelle

Background:

• Grew up in a very bad neighborhood
• Latch-key kid because both his parents worked until late hours
• Mother was shot in crossfire during a drive-by
• Father vanished and all that was found was his car, crushed with a few remains
• Went to live with his mother's sister as she was the closest relative
• Not the most caring of individuals, she was; mixed up with drugs and prostitution
• The last thing he remembers clearly from living with his aunt was a few men coming over, and some yelling being had; things got violent, and he took a hard blow to the back of his head when he tried to intervene
• He awoke in a dark room with a bunch of other kids, and the nightmare began
• He doesn't talk much about his time being held, so there is little known of what he was actually subjected to, but his scars and nightmares speak a lot on the matter
• Eventually, the nightmare was brought to an end when Desmond and his team took down the trafficking ring and helped Tyrelle and the other serving children get to safety
• With his aunt having taken her own life at the loss of him, Tyrelle was left with nowhere else to go, as the rest of his family was either also dead, or incarcerated for various crimes
• He was placed in foster care for a short while before Desmond took him in
• He had no interest in coming along on the C-130 mission, having wanted to stay with one of his partners in their apartment instead, but since he is still technically a minor, he wasn't given any choice

• To this day, Tyrelle has no idea how to see Desmond; the man has never once struck him as a father, and while he respects the man to the fullest, he often wonders what Desmond's intentions really are with him
• He has never once called Desmond his father in any regard, only ever referring to the man by name or as "Sir"
• Tyrelle is an incredible fighter, though his form is anything but traditional; anyone who sees him fight would see that every move he knows was learned out of survival
• In addition, he is very resourceful and has a way of "MacGuyvering" his way through various situations
• Tech-smart especially, he's jailbroken almost every device he's had, and prior to being dragged on the mission, had quite the business going among his social circle

Direction for your Character:

• Tyrelle is reluctant to be on the island, but as upset as he is to be stranded against his will, he'll put in every ounce of effort to ensure not just his own survival, but the survival of the rest of the crew as well
• I can see him looking towards joining the mech team, but Desmond will insist he be part of the security team
• Tensions between Desmond and him will grow very fierce, and I'm debating if Ty will have a hand in Desmond's death; whether this is out of survival/protection, or an actual murderous act, is also uncertain
• Ty may also find a new lover, but with his age it's debatable
