Caroline rolled out of bed, sighing at the marks she had left all over. She had taken her gloves off last night to shower and forgotten to put them back on, now the sheets were ruined but it didn't particularly bother her. She puled her gloves back on and changed into regular clothes. Caroline headed off to the restaurant, it had no name and even if it did she doubted anyone would use it since it was the only restaurant on the island. The baker was already asleep and was pulling the batch of muffins she asked him to make out of the oven. She thanked him although it was doubtful he even heard her since he was asleep. Her next stop was the center building, it was a welcome and recreation center that was a common hang out for USO members, it was there that she collected maps and informational packets, Caroline then started off for the water front. She stood on the docks, a basket of muffins in one hand and maps in the other. The founder had notified her that there was to be a group of people arriving and asked her to be the welcoming committee and so she was. Eyes on the horizon, she looked for a sign of people. Caroline noticed a boat in the distance and smiled with anticipation.

The boat made her seasick. Bea gagged and clung to the railing for dear life, she hated this ride and hoped that it would end, and that maybe all of her torture and suffering was for nothing. In the distance an island came into view. This must be it She thought, We must be here! Thank the heavens.
The island grew closer and we it came into full view, the boat began to slow down to dock. The passengers slowly got off one by one.
Bea shoved her way past and the moment she made it on land she tripped, and her 'Slow-Woe' began... Slowly, ever so slowly, Bea began to fall, her slow-mo acting out like a dramatic scene from a movie. This would take a decent minute, if not an hour of her just falling to the ground.

Noah sat quietly at the end of the dock, legs hanging down near the water. Staring out over the water, he listened to the waves. The headphones that usually covered his ears rested around his neck, and dark circles denoted another sleepless night. Night and early morning were times of peace for Noah, for only when asleep or unconscious did the torrent of emotions every human felt fall silent. The sun was rising, though, and that time would be over.

Anticipation. Excitement. Worry. The emotions hit him like a brick to the back of the head, and Noah suddenly pulled his headphones over his ears. The boat was coming, and Caroline was coming to meet it. If he didn't leave soon, the emotions would build to an almost painful level. But he had been instructed to attend the introductions, both as a test of his control and an attempt to get him to socialize more.

"Good morning, Caroline," Noah says without turning his head as the gentle tones of a harp began to fill his ears and the press of the emotions receded somewhat. "The boat should be here soon. I can feel them coming."

Gae was standing in the back of the crowd, slowly taking steps forward. Come on! Lets get a move on! We have things to do, people to meet! Galena stressed. The only way they communicated was through thoughts, as they shared the same mind. Gae sighed and didn't reply as the crowd continued to filter off the boat. What do you see?! Galena pipped up again. There's a girl, falling in slow motion Gae replied. I WANNA SEE! I WANNA SEE! Galena cheered, indicating she was going to start the change. No! You promised you wouldn't until we arrived! Gae panicked as he began to see his vision fade. Well we have arrived, haven't we? was Galena's response before it began. His hair grew down, his chest puffed up, and his figure curved slightly. Galena was now in control. She looked around in excitement, until she spotted the slow-motion girl. "OH WOW!" she exclaimed, dashing through the people to watch her fall. "THAT IS SO COOL! HOW DID YOU DO THAT?" she exclaimed. Please don't Gae asked.

"Morning Noah, I believe you are right, there are going to be a lot of emotions but you probably already know that. Don't push yourself if you don't think you can handle it, I don't want you to hurt yourself... here have a muffin. They're for the newbies but I don't think they'll miss a couple." She handed one to him and stood by him as the boat drew nearer. When it had docked Caroline began passing out muffins and maps to every one. She noticed a woman falling in what looked like slow motion while another person seemed to be excited about it she smiled at both of them, "That's some power you got there. I can't say I envy you. Do you want help?" She asked the falling lady, unsure whether her interference would help the situation.

"Noooooo!" Slowly, Bea's face collided with the ground, and thus ending the slow-mo. "I did it again!" She sobbed as she stood back up, "If I ever do something like that again who knows what juicy tid-bits I'll miss! I may even miss the whole semester!" Bea placed a hand on her forehead, finally she glanced up at the two who were watching her. "I'm fine... I just... It's nothing really..."

She patted the dust off of her clothing before biting her bottom lip out of frustration, "I just need to stop myself from messing up so much... Maybe then I could just not miss so much... What time is it!? How many hours has it been!?"

Taking the muffin, Noah stood up, stretching his back as the boat arrived. The emotions felt like a constant pressure around the entirety of his skull, barely held at bay by his will. As long as nobody touched him, he would likely be fine. Several of the new arrivals had started talking right away, and Noah perceived everything they said as slightly muted due to his music. Standing back slightly from Caroline to avoid being too close tot he others, he looked over the new face. Even as he did, one changed from masculine to feminine, causing him to raise an eyebrow.

The expression didn't hold long as another girl started sobbing and her embarrassed anguish washed over him. He grimaced at her for a moment then shook his head slightly. If all the newbies were going to be like this, he certainly wasn't going to be able to stay.

Galena tried her best to cheer the slow-motion woman up. "I thought that was so cool!" she squealed. "I wish I could fall down and be all like 'woaaaaaah'" she said, attempting to reenact the fall. Please for the love of god, stop Gae pleaded. "There was this one time when I was making a cake, and I dropped the bowl of batter, but I caught it right before it hit the floor! Cool huh? Or except maybe I think it was a dream, I have dreams a lot! Unlike Mr.Grumpy pants, he never talks about his dreams, or I guess we have the same dreams" Galena finished with a bright smile. Please never make us talk that much ever again Gae requested.

"It's alright, no need to get upset. You've only been falling for about fifteen minuets. It's alright." Caroline handed her a muffin and a map and did the same for the other person. She quickly glanced at Noah, he seemed to be handling everything well enough. Turning her attention back to the newbies she grinned. "Welcome to the USO, My name is Caroline and I'm supposed to show you the ropes." Gesturing for them to follow her she continued, "You'll all find that the USO stress free environment where people like us can live. The Island is divided into three main parts, do yourself a favor and try to commit them to memory. The first part is what we call the Hub, it's the developed part of the island and where most buildings are located. The second is the rest of the island, mostly forested, there's a big clearing that we use for bonfires some times. There are trails out there, try to stick to them. The third part is a smaller island that used to be attached to the main one, I'm going to ask that you stay away from there, it's not somewhere you want to go, trust me. You'll all be staying in the dorms while houses are built to your liking. If you have any questions I'll do my best to answer but I'm not going to explain every little thing to you. I want you to figure things out for yourselves, now the stuff I gave you should help, if you need more information the center is right over there." She pointed towards a regal stone building.

Jadene had been enjoying the trip like a vacation so far, with her brand new sunglasses and bag filled with things like make up, sun lotion and bug spray, she looked more like a tourist rather than someone actually moving in. The boat trip hadn't been so bad, though waiting in line for a muffin while the front was literally moving in slow motion was slightly irritating. Managing to get a hold of a muffin and a map, Jadene did listen carefully what their guide had to say.

"I would like to ask a question." Jadene then said, lifting her hand from the middle of the group. "What is the place to get some help in case of some serious situations... I mean, in case people start combusting because of someone's powers or something?" she asked, before taking a slow bite out of the muffin, fixing her hair a little as she proceeded to lean on her other leg, trying to look like she was already a pro in this thing... after all, the cool ones were the ones press would find most appealing.

Caroline smiled, although there was no one currently on the island that was that unstable it was a good question. "Well I'm glad you asked, if something like that happens and you're unwilling to try and stop it then you can hide in the bunker. In a case of a power malfunction or a problem similar to it you have the choice to help or hide, its really up to you. In any other case of emergency the bunker is the first place you should go." There was a trace of coldness in her voice as she pointed to a small black building, "It looks tiny but that's because most of it is under ground. I suggest you all get settled into the dorms, or all the good ones will be taken. Girls on the east wing and boys on the west. If you're feeling adventurous go ahead, stay in the opposite dorm wing, the segregated wings are a suggestion, not a rule. I'm still taking questions of anyone has 'em." Caroline looked over the crowd looking for any raised hands.

Biting into his own muffin, Noah looked over the newbies slowly. All in all, it looked like an interesting group. After a few moments of closer inspection, one of the new girls gave him reason to pause. It was hard to tell in the group, but it seemed like he could sense two very different emotions coming from her. She was clearly excited as she squealed and re-enacted the slow motion fall, but he could swear that he sensed something under that, something bored and ashamed. It wasn't the same feeling he got from a repressed emotion either.

Noah wasn't so forward as to approach the newcomer, but his eyes remained on her in a vacant, if not disinterested stare. He would have to find her later, when she was alone, if he was going to talk to her. Besides, he hated talking in front of an audience, especially one that couldn't hide it's boredom from him.

James was literally the last person to step off the boat. This crowd was killing him. He quickly put a piece of gum in his mouth and started chewing to keep himself calm, but even that was barely working. "Urgh...." He tried to keep control of his powers. All these thoughts flooding into his mind at once were driving him INSANE. He tried to concentrate on only a few people, but there were just...too many people around, and his telepathy was picking up ALL of their thoughts at once. It was so much that he couldn't even discern his won thoughts from other people's. Then it happened. He completely lost concentration and everything within 10 feet of him that wasn't a person started to lift up in the air, even the water. "Not now..." he groaned.

"See, at least when I grow up I can be somewhat normal." Bea ran her fingers through her hair and let out a ligh sigh, "What was that saying? Great powers comes responsibility! That's it."
With her free hand she pointed at the boy who lifted almost everything, "He can be somewhat of use." With that Bea placed the muffin in her mouth and checked the map. It appeared as though she didn't care much for the powers people exhibited, maybe it was jealousy?

Accidentally, the muffin fell from her mouth. God, not this again. "Noooo!" Her slow-woe activated, causing her to slowly act out the scenes of her trying to catch the falling muffin. Her slow-mo was such a hinderence.

Caroline looked over to the indicated person and almost face palmed, she had been asked to watch for him especially and she hadn't noticed him until now. "Well if one can't control their powers then they aren't particularly useful then, are they? James with me. Noah will take my place for a bit." She turned to Noah and mouthed 'sorry' before pulling James along and out of sight. "A telekinetic telepath, just what we needed." She grumbled under her breath. She sighed and turned to James, "Sorry, we should have separated you from the group much earlier. That couldn't have been easy on you. Special accomadations have been made for you, your home is a good distance away from everyone. The only person will have to put up with is me, I've been asked to help you control your powers, if that's at all possible." Caroline did not know why she had been asked to train him but she felt that it probably had to do with her expendability, the USO wasn't the happy rainbow land it made itself out to be. They approached a white building, "It's a bit blank now but if you tell me what you want it to look like I'll paint it for you."

After Caroline pulled him away from the group, the thoughts finally weren't as loud, and he regained control of his powers, causing all the stuff to just fall back down. He looked at Caroline. "Thanks for getting me away from the crowd. Much more and I would've probably created an earthquake..." He looked at the building. "It's fine. As long as there isn't a large number of people, then I will be fine." Right now the only thoughts he was picking up were Caroline's, but he ignored them. He slightly smiled at her. "I'm just glad that I didn't hurt anyone back there...last time that happened...it wasn't pretty..."

Caroline raised an eyebrow, "I wouldn't let you hurt any one, plus this arrangement is in everyone's best interests. While yes there is the chance you could hurt someone it's also best if people don't get attached to you. You have desirable abilities, as soon as you learn to control them you'll want to move on to the big leagues. You're not the first and I bet you won't be the last." Caroline's smile was small and tinged with sadness. She pulled off one of her gloves and with her index finger she scrawled 'Jacob' on the door. "Is there anything else you need?"

As the last newcomer came off the boat, Noah knew who he would be avoiding for a while. Irritation poured off the stranger in waves, forcing him to grit his teeth and close his eyes tight to keep his focus. All the other emotions were drowned out like whispered conversations at a rock concert. Nothing good was going to happen if he stayed close, and Noah opened his eyes to look for an escape route. Before he found one, however, all he saw was Caroline pulling the stranger aside, leaving him to tend to the other newbies.

"Excellent," he muttered under his breath, visibly relaxing as the two left. He himself was slightly irritated to have been left with the other newcomers, but with James out of the way he might actually be able to handle himself. "Alright, Caroline basically told you everything you need to know, I guess. All that's really left is to show you to the dorms and turn you loose to explore or sleep or whatever it is you feel like doing. if you have any questions for me, you can ask them while we walk. Make sure you've got all your stuff, and let's go." Looking over the others with a cursory glance, he turned on his heel and started towards the center of the island. The sooner he was done with them, the sooner he could retreat to his own secluded home. That is, if he didn't get drawn into conversation with one of the newbies or any other such terrible event.

"Yeah! There is~"

Sirius popped up from behind Caroline, almost towering over her with his height. As usual, he once again thought that she was speaking to him. With a beaming smile he began to speak... and oh did he speak... "I overheard that there were muffins for breakfast, but I couldn't find any. It's like someone stole them all-*GASP*-DID someone steal them all?! Aw that would be terrible! If we have a cupcake thief on our hands how are we gonna treat the newcomers? Maybe I should ask the baker, he's an expert on cakes, maybe he'll have a lead on who it is!... wait, I already asked him that. He got awfully angry, I think he was sleeping. Gah, my brain is just all a meddle today! You know it's probably because I've been stressing so much on this Eclair thief, ya know what I mean? Stress is terrible on a mind that's not well-nourished, maybe I should grab something to eat. Ooo! I heard that we were having muffins today! I'll go get one~" Sirius turned to walk away, but stopped upon remembering. "Crap!... I can't get a muffin, cause I can't find them! I wonder where they could be... maybe someone took them?" He turned back around to face the two, scratching his hair in confusion. "I could probably find out who if I asked around, maybe the baker will know some suspects?..."

And with that he continued to work things out in his mind with child-like wonder, aloud, practically going around in circles.

Caroline squeaked and jumped. She placed a hand on the door to steady herself, unfortunately it was the hand without a glove. The door now had black marks all over it. "Good morning Sirius." She sighed and focused for a moment, running her fingertips over the marks she covered the marks until the marks were hidden under ink that matched the door. It was probably for the best that Sirius had caused her to mess up, he had written Jacob instead of James and that could have been a bit embarrassing. She corrected her mistake and turned to the others, "Well it sounds like you and I should start the investigation then, James has some unpacking to do." Caroline lead Sirius away, trying to remember where she put the muffin basket.
