Player Name: The Bogus Byrd Man

Character You Wish To Play: The one man that's the realest of the real, the one smooth brother that makes all the women squeal. I'm talking about the baddest mofo that ever fought with righteous rage: The Harlem crusader Luke Cage

Moral Alignment: Hero, ya dig?

Affiliation: Cage ain't the type of brother to be attached to anyone's hip bone. When it comes to teams, he works alone.

Character Origin & Backstory:

The story of Luke Cage can be told in verse. The early days are when his life went from bad to worse. Carl Lucas, a would be gangster working around Harlem town, working as a strongarm lackey to that Willis Styrker clown. Styrker had Harlem tight in his grasp, strangling the community with his criminal clasp. Young Luke fell for Lenore, Stryker's sweetheart. Styrker went mad with jealousy, his sanity fell apart. One day Carl was headed home when he got stopped, ya dig? It was two NYPD uniforms and a detective pig. They ran Carl in because an eyeball witness, the man said Carl was around a murder scene the night before and acting suspicious. Carl's fingerprints matched the ones on a piece, so he was arrested for murder by the police. A swift trial commenced, so fast you couldn't blink. The end result was predictable, Carl sentenced to life in the clink. Carl's heart was tortured, his spirit maimed. He knew that he was framed.

Ten years in the slammer seemed to rapidly pass, all the while outside Stryker's kingdom gained mass. Losing hope on getting out and his prospects dim, Carl decided to volunteer for a project most grim. An experiment to create the durability of a famous super-soilder ended in disaster thanks to an evil poacher. Carl lay in a science chamber, his body resting, when a vindictive guard broke in to where they were testing. The guard smashed the console and dial. The chamber began sparking, its insides filling with bile. A massive explosion rocked the prison then, a force that was like a keg of dynamite times ten. The guard, the doctor, and the whole experiment were lost in the detonation, nothing could survive that great conflagration.

Out of the fiery rubble and debris a lone figure came crawling. It was a naked Carl Lucas who ran, his own ass he was hauling. He ran into the woods to avoid any guards. Through some odd happenstance he was now out behind bars. What's more his whole body seemed unreal. The explosion hadn't hurt him, his body tougher than steel. With new powers at his command and ten years spent spurned, he set his sights for Harlem and home he did return.

Once home he started a crusade for payback, Willis Stryker and his criminal rackets were prime for attack. A new life and fresh start he had acquired. Carl Lucas was dead, believed perished in that fire. Soon after coming home he sought out his former love Lenore. He was shattered when he discovered she was no more. She had died six years back, overdosing from mainlining pure smack. He made a promise that day, for letting her die Stryker would pay. Adopting the alias Luke Cage, he tore up Harlem fueled by his powers and rage. It didn't take long for Stryker to get mad. He put out a million dollar hit for Luke Cage, man he wanted that brother reaaal bad. Cage tore trough Styrker's men like butter, setting the residents of Harlem's hearts aflutter. For a long time now they had needed a defender to help them thrive, but Cage didn't want none of that jive! He wasn't a hero to speak for the masses, he just wanted to kick Styrker and his men's asses.

Cage dispatched Styrker's men at their nightclub without breaking a sweat. They were the bad mothers, but to him they proved to be no threat. Cage finally set his sights on Styrker, that villain. The two fought each other, both intent on killin'. Stryker tried his best to fight off his former friend, but the steel skinned man was too much to defend. Desperate to kill and half crazed, Stryker decided to kill both he and Cage in a massive blaze. Up went his nightclub in a red hot spire. Nobody was getting out of that fire. If you think that's the end of this story and Cage is dead, then what the hell's wrong with your head? Out of the fire came Cage choking, unharmed and unhurt but his body smoking. While he came out of the fire okay, Stryker had been consumed in the infero's fray.

Gathered around the blazing hulk were the people of Harlem so grateful, they were glad to be rid of the crime boss that was so hateful. In the embers of the building Cage watched it burn, while a feeling inside him did churn. His vengeance was complete now that Stryker had died, but he still felt hollow and empty inside. That day Cage made a solemn vow, he would change his life and his ways somehow. From that day forward he decided to work for the people as best he could, writing wrongs and injustices in the 'hood. If you need help and your situation is dire, then you can always call Luke Cage: Hero for Hire.

Powers and Abilities (What can you're character do? What can't they do?): Cage has street hero level super strength and steel-hardened skin

Greasy moo goo gai pan was my dinner that night. Red Dragon's on West 131st Street near the playground. Mr. Hsu always made a new batch of it whenever I walked in, thanks for helping him out a few months ago when I stopped a would-be blackmailer from trying to extort Hsu. Turns out the old man was in America illegally after he jumped ship on a barge in San Diego thirty years ago. A little flexing of my muscle and the blackmailer stepped off and handed over what he had on Hsu. The old man to his credit turned himself over to immigration who decided he'd been in the country to long to deport. Also didn't hurt that he was the rare illegal that paid taxes. For helping him out I get half off moo goo gai pan and get to make eyes at Hsu's hot daughter while she works the register.

There was a pretty steady rain outside that night. That's usually good news for everyone. Rain means the gangbangers are too scared to go out, lest they get their sneakers dirty, and the cops aren't up to getting out of their cruisers unless they really need to so they avoid banging people up on the small fry stuff that really pisses off communities. My previous observation was contradicted almost at once. Two NYPD patrol cars with rooftop lights flashing sped by the restaurant. Like I said, the rain is usually good news but not always.

Joannie Hsu rung my meal up without giving me her number once again. That's alright, I'd ask again when I'm back in a week. I walked out into the rain and pulled my yellow hoodie up over my head. There weren't many people on the street, but the few that were all headed in the same direction: down the street and around the corner. The corner blocked the sight, but I could see the blue and red flash of police lights reflecting off the buildings.

A few minutes later and I stood in front of police tape. My hood kept my head dry against the slow pitter patter of rain. The crime scene was at the playground just around the corner from the Red Dragon. Two uniformed cops kept the small crowd gathering back from the scene, but everyone could see through them to the white tarp covering a dead body sprawled out in a sandbox. There were murmurs and talk rippling through the crowd. I didn't take part, but I listened and got the gist. The body under the tarp was Bobbito Garcia, seventeen years old and a nearby resident. Someone said he had his girlfriend with him when he got shot, someone said they heard the shots and turned around to see Bobbito falling to the ground and an unknown shooter running from the scene.

A detective in a cheap suit walked trough the crowd, flashing a badge. I started to fade back into the crowd to avoid being seen. The less police attention I attracted, the better. From my vantage point I could see the crime scene and the few places the officers had protected from the rain. Bobbito's body was covered, as was a small space I assumed covered up the murder weapon. A plastic baggie lay on the ground with a small card inside. I couldn't make out the words scribbled on the card, but I saw the logo in the middle of the card as clear as day. A bright red crown, dripping blood.

Who murders a seventeen year old kid execution style and leaves a calling card?

I didn't know, but I was going to find out.

Felicia Hardy / Black Cat

Moral Alignment

WTL

Affiliation

Midtown High School
The Kingpin Syndicate

Character Origin & Backstory

Early Life

Felicia Hardy for the most part was a normal girl for a good amount of her life. She was born to two loving parents and had friends in a young Mary Jane Watson. This however was not to be as it was then discovered by her mother that something terrible had happened and her husband, Walter Hardy had to leave the household and his daughter for the safety of his family. This of course was due to Walter Hardy’s compulsive habit and career—he was a professional thief named The Black Cat. Wanted internationally, it came to a point when Walter was hired on a job by the Kingpin Syndicate though he had not found out that until the job was nearly finished—upon finding out about what he had stolen (an experimental super soldier process developed by Dr. Calypso Ezili at OsCorp R&D) was to be shelled off to the most dangerous and evil organization in the United States. Walter refused to be a servant to the Syndicate and while he was a thief he had deep sense of morals; he could not let that experimental serum fall into the wrong hands. However, he knew his handler would turn him over once the job remained unfinished and to fix this he had to disappear. Extremely heartbroken, Walter said his goodbyes to his wife and daughter as he disappeared.

This had a horrible effect on Felicia causing her into bad habits led by curiosity and rebellion in her later childhood. Her mother, Lydia, would not have Felicia discovering what Walter was and why he left which started a rocky relationship between the two. Lydia wanted to move on and forget, Felicia refused to let it go. Felicia’s curiosity never died and by the age of fifteen attempted to put together clues her mother and father indirectly left for her to pick up on—how they didn’t talk about what her father did, and how her mother burnt journals the night after her father’s leaving. Things didn’t add up and to top it all off her father left her with one comment on that night: “Be wary of your curiosity.”

Origin

By 2012, Felicia’s thoughts were still festering despite being able to relax through her schoolwork and through her friendship with Mary Jane Watson. However, things at home weren’t right – her mother and her kept clashing, this of course led to Felicia wanting to escape and she began sneaking out of her house at night to clear her head. This became difficult when her mother began dating a widowed police detective by the name of Harrison Thompson— though she did find some friendship with the officer’s daughter, Jesse.

That was when everything crumbled. Somehow, the secret her father was hiding exploded and Felicia found herself kidnapped by a man named “Rose” who worked for the Kingpin Syndicate. This kidnapping was done to kite Felicia’s father out of hiding and everything she knew about her father was thrown out of the window. Failing a rescue attempt, Walter eventually and begrudgingly handed over the product he had stolen all those years ago but the Kingpin ordered something as Walter began to notice that the place they were holding Felicia was a lab. Under the guise of assuming Walter to emotionally hand over a fake serum they decided to test it on Walter’s own daughter. The next moments for Felicia surged with pain and suffering as her body went through a process that tried to dominate her but with just being reunited with her father she refused to lose herself and die. This indomitable will (or perhaps probability manipulation) saved her life.

The Kingpin impressed would continue to hold Walter against his will to use to threaten and order Felicia to do as he asked and work for the Syndicate. Felicia began field tests and then training with Tony Masters not too long after. They groomed her as their own personal “acquisition specialist” – Felicia Hardy became the second Black Cat. This training did however make her more distant with her friend Mary Jane in the summer of the next year.

Felicia now has to contend with the new school year, her friendship with Mary Jane Watson & Jesse Thompson, and stealing for the Kingpin Syndicate or be responsible for the death of her father.

Powers and Abilities

Artificially Enhanced Physiology: Felicia has been modified due to a “super soldier serum” that has given her strength, speed, durability, agility, reflexes, and senses to a high level that is either peak human or near-superhuman. These come with a cost of altering Felicia’s brain although it seems her morality is still in-tact.

Eidetic Memory: Felicia was born with eidetic memory, making her likely a mutant. She remembers things quicker and absorbs information visually. This could be said why her training under Tony Masters took little time.

Expert Thief: Felicia is a skilled thief skilled in stealth, picking locks, escapology, evading alarms, and cracking safes.

Skilled Martial Artist: Felicia has been trained in martial forms by Tony Masters (Taskmaster) during her time working in the Kingpin Syndicate. Such training has led her to combat reflexes, superior technique, and so forth.

Marksmanship: Felicia was interned basic-to-intermediate firearms training by Tony Masters.

Probability Manipulation: Felicia has the ability to manipulate her own personal “probability field” to modify chance to play in her favor; it is inherently unknown to her as it resides in her father’s necklace that was given to her on the night he disappeared. It is likely it is the reason she survived the genetic modification process.

“So, do you steal from giant corporations often or is this a new thing?”

My eyes narrow from the shadows of my mask as I look into New York’s currently favorite rookie superhero and I’m caught in his web—literally. I’m not sure what it is about this gross junk, but it’s confining me like some sort of super-glue and I’m totally not a fan. Factoring in my father’s life hangs in the balance with everything I do, I can’t exactly fail The Kingpin as that would just be bad news. All I know is I want to get out of this spider-web.

“You know you’re the first one to—”

“Oh shut up, web-head.” I retort, half-annoyed… okay fully annoyed, but it’s not like there is much of a difference. It’s here that I feel something shift—a piece of the web-thing is giving way. Well either I’m extremely lucky or this stuff isn’t that good and I can’t exactly say luck has been my strong suit between being one of my best friends being outed as a mutant, kidnapped, forced into an experiment, and made into a crime syndicates personal she-thief. Yeah, life has been swell… and that’s only the last year of my life at that. Oh, lucky me. Either way, I take advantage of the loose web-stuff and dive straight down into the dark streets below as I hold my hands out as I activate a grappling hook device that was designed personally for me. At least with being a lackey you get all of the toys of the trade, right?

Right.

Though I do doubt that will keep Spiderman off my ass, so I have to work quick. Maybe he’s just as dumbfounded as I am that I got loose from his web.

“Hey Cat! Wait up!”

Yep, he’s too persistent and not that dumbfounded… I can’t exactly lead him back to my safehouse so I need to lose him—maybe I’m faster or he doesn’t have a whole lot of that webbing. Either way, tonight is not going to be fun. Not to mention the AP History test I have tomorrow! Augh! Go away spider-freak!

Susan Storm / Invisible Woman

Moral Alignment

Hero

Affiliation

Empire State University
Future Foundation

Character Origin & Backstory

Early Life

Susan is the daughter of Dr. Franklin Storm, a quantum physicist who was featured on TIME Magazine in 1971. Susan’s father’s belief was limitless energy could be theoretically obtained using a method he named “Quantum Energy”. Through this he believed society would reach new heights; however his time into research and resources was put to a halt when Susan and Johnathan Storm were born to Franklin’s wife and reality forced Franklin to re-evaluate his priorities. He took time from his project to teach Physics at Empire State University in New York City as the two children became his whole world.

Growing up, Susan found her father’s ramblings and theories on quantum energy the equivalent of fairytales; the young girl was not groomed into quantum physics or at least not deliberately. By the age of nine, Susan’s inherent genius came out as her father noticed an open notebook of Sue’s that detailed modifications to his quantum energy equation which proved to be correct amendments at that. Susan’s life from thereon shifted uphill and before she or her father knew it she had cut through high school by thirteen and two universities by twenty. A “mirror” of her father, Sue became known for her grasp on quantum physics and soon received a recommendation for employment at a new scientific organization devoted to progress called The Future Foundation headed by one Reed Richards. Taking the recommendation from there she began working with the likes of Dr. James Power.

Susan began work almost immediately on a theoretical aerospace engine drive that ran through quantum energy, aerospace engineer and ex-NASA member Benjamin Grimm was assigned to help her with the physical tasks of the project and after some time it was completed though Susan herself believed it still needed much time. Through some force of pressure to maintain funding from one of their investors they however prepared for installment into a spacecraft—but they needed a pilot: Susan recommended her brother Johnny Storm and he was brought in for the test flight… a flight the four would never forget.

Origins

Susan Storm, Benjamin Grimm, Johnny Storm, and Reed Richards were struck by a malfunction in the drive that neither Susan, Reed, or Benjamin could detect as they hit a “storm-like anomaly” in space. The spacecraft took massive damage but due to Johnny Storm the four did not simply perish in space—they would crash in the Atlantic Ocean before falling unconscious themselves. The recovery of the four members of the Foundation was a loss for the company, but it oddly served as a big event for the national media as the scientists lay in a coma for a few days at a private hospital in Upstate New York. Throughout the next few months they found themselves changing in radical ways as the apparent radiation (or the negative quantum energy itself) had affected them—Sue vanished in thin air, Reed found his entire body becoming the consistency of rubber, Johnny found himself ablaze, and Ben discovered his muscles rapidly growing and hardening.

Thus the Fantastic members of the Future Foundation were born – Susan Storm’s “year one” involved not much further outside of initial tests and studies that Reed attempted to work against the clock to halt or minimize their radiation-brought mutation. Radiation experts like Dr. Elizabeth Ross were brought in but it was generally to no-avail. However, as they fought to come to grips with their new powers a devastating chemical spill occurs and a scientist in the center of the event mutates into a giant monster and begins to attack local neighborhoods nearby to the Future Foundations base of operations (which the four including Susan had returned to after awakening from their coma). Reed deduces they are likely the only response team capable for immediate resolve and begrudgingly the Four approach and surprisingly contain the threat before it does massive damage. Reed brings a sample of the creature back to his lab for study.

With funding for their science experiments and public word of the four as “superheroes” they are starting to get some attention…

Powers and Abilities

Genius Intelligence: Susan Storm wields a 11th level intelligence, and while outclassed by individuals such as Tony Stark and Reed Richards she wields a genius intellect which is evident with her completion of university level education by the age of twenty. This applies to her field(s) generally, of course.

Invisibility: The Invisible Woman has the mental ability to manipulate ambient cosmic energy for a variety of effects, including the rendering of herself and other objects invisible, and the construction of solid, invisible force fields. In an as yet unknown manner, cosmic energy interacts with the cells of her entire body in such a way as to produce a new form of energy with unusual properties. By a simple act of concentration, she can cause all wavelengths of visible, infrared, and ultraviolet light to bend around her without distortion; she also somehow directs enough undistorted light to her eyes to retain her full range of vision while invisible.

Psionic Force Fields: While the cells of the Invisible Woman's body produce a certain energy manifestation, the cells of her brain produce a different, more potent manifestation. Through concentration, she is able to project a field of psionic force which she can manipulate into a number of relatively simple forms: rectangular planes, cylinders, globes, domes, cones, etc. The complexity of the shape is limited by her ability to imagine (mentally visualize) a particular form and keep it in sharp mental focus: not even she is able to see the forms she creates. The size of a given psionic force projection is also limited by her ability to imagine.

Sample Post

“Are you kidding?” Sue’s eyes met her brother’s as she moved like a bat out of hell as the sight of a giant green monster set the Fantastic Four initiative members into well.. a panic, outside of Reed of course who decided this was the most fascinating things ever because not only did this monster look familiar it also looked like—

“No! I’m pretty sure we’re fighting a dragon!!”

Johnny Storm’s voice was right. The Fantastic Four were fighting a dragon and not just any old dragon but one who was as ancient as the earth himself and was fairly angry of what he had awoken to—that or he was sent here as a distraction by the Mandarin, but it was anybody’s guess at that point. Susan Storm was still relatively new at this whole “hero thing” and Reed had been so adamant that it would be the catalyst of them getting their funding back on the ground, she didn’t exactly understand it but it was way out of left field for her.

“Fool! I will devour you until your remains exist as ashes!” The dragon roared which honestly made Sue fumble again since well dragons shouldn’t talk right?

“That will be awful hard buddy considering I’m the human torch!” Her brother yelled, mocking the dragon as Sue began to focus her body to create several variations of psionic energy to blast at the dragon. But she wasn’t sure if they could do this all by themselves—perhaps they needed the Avengers or something? Really, it was a giant dragon—not that they hadn’t taken on giant monsters before… but this thing was a little bit more sentient than a giant acidic monster and had a lot more power at that.

At this point she just hoped Reed had a plan…

Jacques “Jac” Duquesne, III / Swordsman

Moral Alignment

WTL

Affiliation

Duquesne Steel Industry
United States Military (former)

Character Origin & Backstory

The third to bear the name of Jacques Duquesne out of a family of four generations rooted in America, Jacques grew up as a child in the shadow of the Duquesne Steel Industry that had dated back to the first Duquesne’s ambitions as a French entrepreneur who looked to America as the great frontier of opportunity and wealth. However, at a young age Jacques found more interest in the stories his grandfather would express about his adventures during the Second World War and how he followed the legendary Captain America into battles against the insufferable Third Reich. His grandfather had operated under the name of “Swordsman” due to the Duquesne’s belief in culture, self-control, and art—the art of the swordplay. Between the age of seven and seventeen Jacques would train with his grandfather while his father cared more in the interest of the company’s wealth and stability; he was practically raised by his mother and grandfather—as was his sister.

When Jacques was eighteen instead of attending college to prepare for the ownership of the company he instead enlisted in the military and began a long journey overseas doing what he believed was expected of him and would honor his grandfather. It wasn’t until he came home in his mid-twenties to discover his grandfather on his deathbed where he gifted him an heirloom of the family—a strangely crafted blade out of a metal Jacques had never heard of. His grandfather recounted the story of the first Jacques stumbling upon small amounts of this rare metal and putting it in a safe seeing it as too grand to be left to financial gain. As his grandfather died he understood family, tradition, and honor were important.

Jacques returned to the military devastated and received a discharge due to his psychological depression—and he remained unemployed for a time, only practicing swordsmanship to ease his loss. Eventually he found himself working as a security consultant for his father.

That is until the Red Skull attacked a pro-mutant rally that his sister had been attending and killed her. Grabbing his sword and using his trust fund to finance a small arsenal of weapons he vowed to himself: he would avenge his sister.

Powers and Abilities

Peak Human Physiology: Jacques has trained extensively to become one of the primer soldiers of his day and his discipline has never changed. This amounts to strength, perception, agility, and vitality.

Swordsmanship: Jacques is a talented if not masterful swordsman and has one of the most lethal swords in existence due to the unknown metal that is as sharp as it is durable. (Not sure if this admantium or carbonadium but if requested I can admit it to being neither if people have objections).

Martial Arts: As trained through his swordplay and through his time in the military, Jacques is a very competent hand-to-hand combatant.

“If you told me two years ago that the threat of a fourth reich would be upon us, I would have laughed.”

“But today, I am not laughing.”

Jacques Duquesne crossed his arms as he looked down at the visage of a bleeding neo-nazi he had tracked down by the name of Herman Doltz, who may or may not have been part of this revisionist movement by this Red Skull. One thing was sure is the southern supremacist was scared and the sight of a man who was currently using a sword to interrogate him was something else entirely—a sword that was sharper than the most precise razor at that, but it wasn’t like Herman Doltz knew what this blade was other than it had been used to kill three of his ‘brothers’ in this small car garage in Hell’s Kitchen.

“What do you want, man?!”

“What I want is to see the Red Skull.” His voice was firm and almost venomous as he slammed his sword down into the floor—an inch away from Herman’s foot.

“Shit! I don’t know the Red Skulls number!”

Jacques frowned. “That is… too bad, but I suppose that is how life is. As my grandfather would say… c’est la vie.” The swordsman turned as he twirled his sword as he removed it from the concrete floor—and ran it across Herman’s neck.

“..but your life is done.”

Character You Wish To Play: Matt Murdock/Daredevil

Moral Alignment: Hero

Affiliation: The Campisi Crime Family as well as various criminals and mobsters in New York.

Character Origin & Backstory:

Matt Murdock was born in the early 80's, son of Maggie Murdock and heavyweight boxer "Battlin'" Jack Murdock. Jack was an up and coming contender in the boxing scene with an outside chance at the title. He became enamored with the trappings of success, doing drugs and partying until late hours of the night. Maggie left Jack when Matt was three and never looked back. Matt's early impression of Maggie as a devoutly catholic woman who couldn't stand Jack's ways caused Matt to idolize his mother and condemn his father.

When Matt was eleven Jack had a shot for the heavyweight title of the world. The day before the fight mob figure Roscoe "The Fixer" Sweeney offered Jack a chance to take a dive. Strapped for cash and filled with the Fixer's promises, Jack took the dive in the sixth round and retired from boxing the next night. He soon opened up "Jack's Place" a tavern in Hell's Kitchen bought with Fixer's money to be used as a mob front. Matt saw his father's ties to organized crime figures tighten and began to hate the man. He ran away from home at the age of twelve and ended up an accident when a chemical truck nearly hit him and instead splashed toxic waste in his face.

The accident took his sight but it also gave him more. It heightened his other four senses to the point of superhuman and gave him a radar sense that negated any disabilities a lack of vision gave him. Jack felt guilt over driving his son away used his money to pay for anything the boy needed or wanted, including a tutor named Stick. The old blind man was hired to teach Matt to adjust to his blindness, but Stick taught him how to thrive. He recognized the hate and yearning in the boy, the passionate need to be better than his father. Stick channeled those feelings into training. He showed Matt how to live and operate in the world as if he were any other person, and he also taught Matt the secret skills of martial arts and Ninjutsu.

Matt went to Columbia University after high school to major in pre-law. The excuse he gave his father and the rest of the world was that he wanted to become a defense attorney. While it was true, it was also part of a much larger plan he had worked out with Stick. During Matt's time at college Jack began to work more and more for the Fixer's bosses with the Campisi Crime Family. Jack's Place began to be used as part of a large mob scheme to flood all of New York City with new and improved heroin from Asia. A DEA snitch fingered Jack as a dealer and he was brought into custody. He agreed to roll on those above him, but before he could an unknown assassin dressed as a police officer slit his throat with a razor-edged playing card while Jack was in police custody.

Matt graduated from law school first in his class just six months after his father's murder. Angelo Campisi, head of the crime family Jack worked for, took pity on the young man and threw some low-level defense cases his way. After Matt got the defendants off, Campisi began to use his legal services more and more. Before long he relied on Matt's legal advice on nearly all matters both large and small. Matt was made an unofficial consigliere of the Campisi Crime Family. Word began to get around New York and Matt Murdock was hired by other gangsters to defend them. All the media outlets in the city say Matt Murdock is the dirtiest lawyer in New York, if not the country. They say he manipulates the law to get his guilty clients acquitted. That's what the media says. By day the most amoral man in New York learns all the dirty little secrets of the mob as their adviser. By night, he becomes the thing they fear the most.

He becomes the Devil.

Powers and Abilities

Matt is blind, but his other four senses have been augmented to superhuman levels. The senses work together to create a radar sense that makes up for his lack of vision. The heightened senses also makes him into a human lie detector, capable of reading anybody's pulse or any small micro changes in their biology when they lie. Stick's training also turned Matt into a master acrobat and martial artist skilled in the art of Ninjutsu. Matt also has one of the best legal minds in the country, an expert on the American justice system that makes him a competent and formidable trial lawyer and legal adviser. His intelligence and experience in criminal law has also led to Matt developing a keen detective mind.

This blind man sits by the phone day and night, waiting for the call from some of the city's most dangerous and corrupt individuals. He talks about the lofty ideals and notions of justice in the courtroom, but one look at the last name on his client's list -- Campisi, Manfredi, De La Rosa, Blackwood -- and you know that Matt Murdock's talk is just that.' Papers, websites, TV stations, even other lawyers and politicians all have an anti-Murdock stance. At least those not in the pocket of my clients.

"That's all, Karen, you can go."

Karen Paige, a paralegal and my only staff member quickly and quietly left the room while I leaned back in my chair. My office is on the fortieth floor of an impressive Midtown skyscraper. They say it has one hell of a view of Lower Manhattan. Guess I'll take their word for it. Someone once asked why I paid so much for the corner office with the view when I could have gotten another office building on the same floor without a view for a hundred thousand dollars cheaper. I didn't dignify them with a response. In this business, both of what I do on the books and off of them, you show strength by your decisions. A blind man wasting a hundred grand on a view he'll never see is part of my strength. I bought the office because I could.

"Matt, my boy," Don Campisi said cheerfully.

His old and withered hands felt like sandpaper scrapping against the skin of my hands. He patted the back of my hand and put the other hand on my elbow to guide me across the lawn. He thought of it as a favor, but I could get around the yard better than he could.

"I'm so glad you made it out," he said once we were both sitting in lawn chairs. "I know it's a hell of a drive out of the city, especially for you."

"Well, I didn't hear any moaning under the car when I stopped, so I guess I did alright."

Campisi laughed at my joke before moving on to small talk. He had to tell me all about his kids that I didn't care about. I nodded at the right times and said the right things. After about ten minutes he finally got down to it.

"I want you advice on something. You know Joey Bags? Works with that crew out in Red Hook? He and Paulie came to me a few nights ago with an idea on a score. Those fucking biker pricks you repped last year, what were they?"

"The Crusaders."

"Yeah, them. They got a club over in Bensonhurst. Joey Bags and Paulie are gonna have a sit down with them tonight. They want to use these Cruasder fucks to mule coke and dope across the country. They're always going on these cross country rides to Piss-ant, Florida or somewheres out in California. They don't go on the interstate, and they can make drops and deliveries to our people in Miami, Kansas City, or wherever. Instead of a fucking pick-up truck carrying two hundred pounds, fifty bikers carrying six pounds a piece make drops over the course of a week. "

My mob lawyer hat was on. I needed to play through the motions to get what I wanted at the end.

"Could be risk involved. One of these bikers could try to rip you off, get a wild hair up his ass and decide to rip off you and his club."

"He does that he's dead," Campisi said coolly. "And not just by our people. His own people. Those biker fucks, they don't play around if you betray them."

I knew that all too well. I represented their president on a murder charge last year. One of their members was talking to the ATF. He suddenly had an accident that cut his tongue out forced it down his own throat, or at least that's what I made the jury believe.

"I think it'll work," I said with a nod. "I'm just hurt and offended I wasn't consulted on this. Blackwood is my client, after all."

"It's Paulie's show, you know he is with you. Thinks cause you're a mick you can't be trusted."

I didn't say it, but I thought that maybe Paulie was on to something. Maybe he was the only member of the Campisi Family with a bit of sense.

I had twenty grand in my jacket pocket when I went in St. Patrick's. The twenty grand was my cut on the deal with the Crusaders, as well as my retainer for doing the don's legal work. Going into churches always made me think about my mother. Maggie Murdock was like a ghost. I had no idea where she was, and I often wondered what she was doing if she were still alive. I thought many times over the years about hiring a PI to track her down, but always thought better of it.

The twenty grand in my jacket didn't feel that big, just two hundred one hundred dollar bills. The cash felt light enough when I took them out of my jacket and stuck them in the poor box. They say all the good Catholics tithe ten percent. I had to be a great one, I tithed a hundred percent. Before I left I asked a priest to light a candle for my mother.
Maybe it was good to never meet her. That way she could be that devout catholic woman I knew all those years ago. She could never be corrupted like my dad was. She was frozen in time as a good woman. I made a final prayer and prepared myself to go to work.

"We don't fuck with drugs," Arthur Blackwood, president of the Crusaders Motorcycle Club, said with a scowl. "No selling at all. Why the hell should we stick out neck out for you? Because you say you'll pay?"

The two mobsters looked at each other. Paulie D'agistino, the underboss of the Campisi Crime Family, rubbed his chin while Joseph Baggato "Joey Bags" stuck his hands in his pants pockets and shrugged.

"That," Joey Bags started. "And, we both know your club is going under. The days of the outlaw biker gang ain't what they used to be. You're hurting for money, the ATF busts your balls day and night about that little weapons trafficking business you got. Fact of the matter is you need this. Say yes."

Blackwood looked behind him, where three of his fellow bikers sat parked on their motorcyles in the back alley lot. Blackwood shuffled his feet and exhaled before finally nodding.

"Fine," he said. "When do you want to get started?"

"I'm surprised in you, Mister Blackwood," a voice echoed around them.

Paulie and Joey pulled pistols from their waistbands at almost the same time the Crusaders did. The two sides looked across the lot for any indication of the voice's owner.

"The hell was that?" Paulie asked, looking at Blackwood. "You trying to pull something on me?"

"Me? What about you?! You're a goddamn informant or something?!"

"Excuse me," the voice continued. "I was talking here. So rude. As I was saying, I'm surprised, Blackwood."

Out of the shadows, a red blur slammed into Joey Bags and knocked him to the ground. Both sides opened fire, Blackwood fell to the ground as bullets fired above him. The figure jumped away before the bullets could reach it. The figure swung back into the shadows and up onto the roof of the warehouse.

"I thought you were on parole," the figure said, coming into the halogen lights of the parking lot. It was the devil... or a man dressed like it. "You certainly don't look reformed to me..."

The devil man jumped from his spot and dove into the middle of the Crusaders taking them on with a pair of sticks at close range.

Character You Wish To Play: Tony Stark | Iron Man
Moral Alignment:Playboy | Hero
Affiliation: Stark Industries | None(Known to work for S.H.I.E.L.D on occasion)
Character Origin & Backstory:

Powers and Abilities:
-Tony Stark by all means is one of the Technical Genius' of the World with money and resources whenever he needs them. However isn't known for being loyal in terms of relationships or always fulfilling promises. Despite that he makes a good friend and does care beneath the surface.

-Iron man has the ability of supersonic flight, up to a high ceiling capable of most aircraft with a pressurized seal and small life support unit so he can still breath, he can also go underwater to a certain depth before the pressure is too much. His HUD is advanced and gives a real time read on his environment and everything in it, targeting computers on missiles relay back to the central hud for real time updates. He has 24 small precise anti-personnel rockets and 4 anti-tank rockets, though his main weapons are the repulsors on his hand that while used for flight can be charged for weapons, his chest piece can also fire however it takes even more power to do so. On top of this the suit allows him increased strength and durability, able to take hits from tanks and keep going. However great force trauma on the suit does cause bruising to him and can even break bone.
Sample Post:
Tony lifted his head off the ground, looking through the H.U.D as it flickered back to life. "J.A.R.V.I.S. You there bud?" It took a couple of minutes before the AI spoke. "Yes sir." He pushed with both hands raising him to the ground slowly in what was left of an old abandoned school house in the middle east, which had supposedly been storing several off his weapons. However now there was no school house and there were definitely no weapons. "It appears to have been a trap sir, as soon as we touched down packs of explosives went off.""Yeah, I got that. Just why does it hurt so much?" He stood as the hud became follow operational and he did a quick 360 loop to check that no-one was currently coming at him with any more weaponry.

"You were flung three hundred meters into the air and landed poorly. I surmise that you have broken at least two ribs.""Oh, that makes sense." Pinging began rattling against his back, he turned and took to a knee wincing slightly as he did so. He raised his right arm and with the subtle movement off his fingers the repulsor charged and fired off a blast at his assailant, who spun and then went to the ground. "Flight systems?""Currently inoperable. I'm still calibrating the suit.""Do we produce thrust?""Yes sir.""Good, just stand by." He began walking out of what the was sure was a nice school classroom full of learning and other good things, it was just missing some decor. Like a wall, or three other walls. He sometimes wished he had built the suit for added speed, however it was a hindrance to run in and didn't really make him any faster. Pretty soon more militia began running at him, firing weapons in the air and at him. Most of it missing its mark due to the untrained nature of the militia. "They just don't learn, do they Jarvis?""Apparently not sir.""Flight systems?""Almost ready sir." "How ready?""About a minute, sir."

He pushed his feet forward slightly digging his toes in as the jets on his boots activated. "All right, I'll make you stand by that remark." If all went well, he could gather altitude and then Jarvis would kick in with the flaps. Though a couple of seconds up, the pinging of weapons fire long gone the flight systems still read as down. "Uh, Jarvis.""Almost there sir." A rocket flew up into the sky as a lock on alarm sounded, he had used all his flares earlier and couldn't dodge it. He wasn't sure if his body could take another hit and then a fall. "I really need the flight systems up.""Almost there sir." The rocket continued towards him. "Jarvis!"

Character You Wish To Play: Dagger (& Cloak)
Moral Alignment: Hero
Affiliation: Cloak & Dagger.

Powers and Abilities:
Dagger
Dagger holds an affinity for life energy, a type of force that occurs in every form of existence and resides within any being that could be considered alive. While she cannot influence or control the energy, Dagger has the ability to sense life force and understand how close a being is to death. Her body acts much like a life force generator, constantly expelling excess energy into the surrounding area giving anyone nearby her a feeling of general happiness, some describe it as a calming light that is invisible more felt than actually seen. This constant flow of excess life energy increases Dagger's physical prowess as well, making her have a much higher tolerance for pain while also increasing her general stamina. She can condense this excess energy into shapes, most notably 'daggers' which she derives her name from. These daggers can be thrown and used to disrupt the life force of another being, this allows her to do a steady level of damage to almost all beings regardless of how physically durable they think they are. It is also to note, Dagger can use her own life daggers to drain the life force of one being and use it as a way to heal herself.

Cloak
Cloak's body acts as something of a gate to a realm known as the 'Darkforce Dimension' which is a totally unexplored dimension filled with a strange substance that appears to humans simply as a mass of dark matter, sometimes in a smokey ethereal form, a viscous watery form or as an almost solid shape. Cloak's body acts as a medium to control just how much of his physical form is allowing this dimension and its contents to interact with our own world allowing him to perform many feats including flight by reducing the actual matter his form is comprised of, intangibility by changing his entire body into the dark matter that fills most of the dimension, increasing his strength by empowering himself with the curious matter and more. The actual substance itself that is expelled when he opens this figurative gate is extremely complex and mysterious, causing general negative emotions in individuals interacting with it which can snowball into even worse side effects, such as insanity, loss of reality and possibly even death. Cloak can also use himself as a transportation device, allowing him to traverse through the darkforce dimension subconsciously and appear else where in our realm.

Character You Wish To Play: X-23/Laura Kinney

Moral Alignment (Hero, Villain, Walking the Line): Walking the Line

Affiliation (what group/team/organization, if any, is your character affiliated with?): None currently

Character Origin & Backstory:

Random Descriptors:
Height: 5'4"
Weight: 180 lbs (due to vibranium-laced skeleton)
Hair: Black
Eyes: Green

History:

All her life, X-23 had only known the inside of the secret weapon X facility where she was raised, only known the countless hours of mental conditioning and physical training she was subjected to as they molded her into the perfect weapon. Even before she fully matured, she was a finer combatant than any of the human agents that trained her, and could surpass them all in strength, speed, agility, and endurance. Initial hesitancy to accept the girl as a worthy successor to the man she was meant to replace began to vanish as she matured, and some even began to believe she would surpass the Wolverine in ability, becoming an even greater asset than they had once hoped he would be.

As the results of her training and conditioning continued to come in at well above their expectations, they began to shape her into a weapon of the future, a weapon geared toward the threats of a new world, where war was conducted from the safety of one's own homeland and governments were toppled with manipulation instead of firepower. Where the Wolverine would have been a weapon of brute force and savagery, this X-23 could possess every bit of those qualities, but also be tempered to engage in more subtle tactics. Tactics that were quickly becoming necessary in the changing world of the late twentieth and early twenty-first centuries. Where the Wolverine would have been sent to wipe out entire enemy strongholds wholesale, X-23 could slip in undetected under the guise of an innocent young woman, playing on the emotions of her targets to strike swiftly and surgically, before they even knew they were dead. She was a precision instrument, a scalpel with which they could remove the cancerous members of society, rather than the brute force claymore that the Wolverine once represented.

In the end, they were immensely pleased with their new weapon, and once her training and conditioning was complete they initiated the final step of the project. The last item before she would be released on the world to service the agenda of the highest bidder. They had to graft her skeleton with vibranium, turning her from a mere soldier into a nearly invincible killing machine. While this new coating would not be as durable as the Adamantium grafted to the Wolvernine, it would be sufficient to render her bones and ligaments capable of absorbing tremendous amounts of force unharmed, while still allowing her to pass unhindered through metal detectors and most other forms of security. Where Adamantium turned Wolverine's claws a shiny silver, X-23's would be altered to a dark, non-reflective gray hue, capable of cutting through nearly any substance thanks to their monomolecular edge and the vibratory energy they generate on contact with metals and other similarly dense materials.

The procedure was a success, as it had been with the Wolverine, and once she had been fitted with a spinal implant allowing them complete control of her actions, she was sent on her first mission, the mission that would brand her as either a resounding success or an abysmal failure, as no amount of tests or training could adequately measure a weapons performance in the real world. Only exposure to the world itself could do that, and now it was time for X-23 to prove her mettle.

Powers and Abilities (What can you're character do? What can't they do?):

With genetics derived from those of the man known as the Wolverine, X-23 possesses an exceedingly potent healing factor that allows her to recover from nearly any wound exponentially faster than any human, healing gunshots and knife wounds in seconds, and even re-attaching an arm after it was severed during a particularly grueling training exercise. The limb returned to full function in moments, and she passed the exercise with flying colors. This healing ability also renders X-23's bodily tissues far more resistant to harm than those of a normal human, allowing her to exert far more force on her body without causing damage to herself. This allows her to match and even exceed the strength and speed of human males in peak physical condition, despite her small frame and slender muscles.

The claws she inherited from her "father" are similar in position and function to Wolverines, but some slight genetic alterations granted her two claws between the first and second toes on her feet, each slightly shorter than the two in each forearm, though still just as sharp.

In addition to this, she also possesses Wolverine's potent animalistic senses and instincts, allowing her to see, hear, and smell better than any normal human, and at much greater distances. This makes her one of the world's foremost hunters and trackers, though her lack of experience means this ability is still inferior to that possessed by Wolverine himself.

Similar to the adamantium that was bonded to Wolverine, X-23's entire skeleton and the connective tissues holding it together have been reinforced with a vibranium coating that renders her bones able to absorb tremendous impact, as well as being unbreakable to all but the strongest of foes. Her claws have also been coated with a chemically altered variation of vibranium that emits intense vibratory energy on contact with metals and other similarly dense materials, allowing them to cut through nearly any substance. This vibranium coating also renders her mind extremely difficult to detect and manipulate telepathically.

While her physical powers and abilities are impressive, it is her mind and training that truly make X-23 a living weapon, capable of handling any modern weapon with exceptional skill, along with nearly every known weapon of the past, from bows to swords to lengths of wood. In her hands, literally anything she can lift can become a weapon of lethal effectiveness, and in the absence of any usable items her own body can be used to kill just as effectively without her claws as with them.

In order to complement and temper her lethal skills with the application of subtlety, she was also trained to use the arts of hacking, acting, and seduction in order to successfully infiltrate the lairs of her targets. She is skilled at playing on the emotions of her victims and has used her large eyes to garner sympathy with just as much success as she has her body to engender lust.

All these skills and abilities are utilized in conjunction in order to keep herself a step ahead of her targets until it's already too late, and then used with equal effectiveness to extract herself from any situation created after the deed is done. In order to allow her the best possible ability to carry out these tactics, she is given as much autonomy of action as the mission parameters allow, though any illusion of free will is exactly that, and her handlers will clamp down control without hesitation if they deem her autonomy too hazardous to the mission or her continued operations.
