It certainly wouldn't hurt the RP.EDIT: The roleplay will be starting tomorrow or Wednesday; character creation will not close anytime soon, but please at least express interest so I know how to handle the squad. With 4 characters (maybe 5-6 if other people come through) then it's a good sized infiltration squad, and we can go from there. Obviously this world is going to be massively scaled up from Elder Scrolls V, so an arrival of 5 people in Falkreath won't be the equivalent of doubling the town's numbers...

It's nice to see someone appreciating the scale of Tamriel.

For the record,

I intend for Ormoneric to be able to learn new spells via spell mixing - with the catch that he will need an entire Aedra-damned Grand Soul Gem for each one. :O Those things aren't exactly uncommon in Skyrim once you get to, you know, level 40 - but they will probably be fewer and further between for our group.

The idea is for it to function as a source of new spells as the plot demands. A lot of the spell effects I have planned are utility-based, meaning a lot of new doors can be opened (figuratively and literally) with each new spell learned.

Here's the list I have so far, partly for the GM to approve/critique, partly to gather suggestions. If you have any ideas, please share!

@Terminal: As long as it's not too overpowered, I'd accept it. Magic in the games, I've always thought, is only limited by the game engine.

@Leidenschaft: Finnen is accepted. I can probably start the roleplay tonight, too. We'll start on a crossroads to Falkreath and Bruma so you'll get a feel of the world from the travelers moving around you and you'll have a chance to establish your character. We have a mage, a nightblade, a warrior, a battlemage, and a scout so far. I'm thinking about making a Thalmor agent to go along with the group. Should be an interesting perspective.

Name: Jartod
Age: 35
Race: Redguard
Class: Sellsword
Birthsign : The Mage

Jartod Stands at 6’5, with a goatee and some hair extending from it. Brown Eyes and no clear tattoos, scars or anything of noticeable quality. Brown Complexion with Black Hair, switches between traditional Redguard Head ware and Robes when in towns and a set of armour, Oricish with a Red

Equipment: Oricish armour for roads. Set of destruction, restoration, conjuration spells with a Ebony Sword.

Spells :

Talents/Spells/Strengths:
Weaknesses:
“ I will say that to your face “ (Blunt) – Jartod is known to be in your face and blunt towards other people, weather friend, or acquaintance
“It’s a bloodlust you could say “ (Brutal) – During times, whether it’s when he has a clear upper hand or when the enemy is surrendering, Jartod is a brutal man who slays without remorse or regret
“Extra bit of gold is something, Of a driving force” (Greedy) – Jartod is a person who tends to go “a mile further” to earn some gold, whether it’s moral or immoral.

Personality:
Loyal and Righteous to the cause, tends to have his bad days but focuses on the task at hand. (More info given IC)

Background:
Jartod began in Hammerfall, serving with the Hammerfall has a patrol guard when he was 18. He mainly did border and caravan patrols, while also studying in the school of magic, to gain a better understanding of destruction and conjuration magic. Jartod’s early 20’s were uneventful. He moved up the ranks of the Hammerfall Military, before he later dropped out to seek Mercenary involvements and also further his understanding of the Arcane.

Jartod’s first major absence from Hammerfall was during the waning years of the Argonian Advance, he was sent on a contract to Morrowind, where he was apart of a small battalion responabile for guarding a supply caravan to an Argonian Checkpoint. The pay was good, and the company was decent as well. The group proceeded to Black Marsh, to meet up with the convoy. For the first few days, it was uneventful. Until, a week later when disease and a small time bandit raid struck the group. Out of the 20 Man Party, only 8 remained, and they still had 3 more days to go until they arrived at the first Argonian checkpoint. It seemed hopeless, Javier and some of the other mercenaries planned to take off with the supplies, it was a plan. Until they found out that they didn’t know where they were. So, the 8 proceeded to the Checkpoint, one of them succumbed to dieses while another when crazy and wandered into the wilderness. The Argonian later ordered the convoy to be disbanded, while Jartod and the other 7 only receiving half of their planned payment.

One note however, Jartod during his time in Argonia, he began to grow more resistance to diseases, not only that but he often mastered the way to fight in a guerilla environment through the various bandit raids. Jartod in a sense became a better warrior during this time, not only with a sword but with the arcane. Jartod struck a balanced match between traditional Redguard Sword-Play , and destruction + conjuration Magic. He also learned during this time how to copy with a long campaign, mentally, emotionally and physically. He, during these times honed his skill to the brink of perfection.

It seemed lost after the Argonian incident for Jartod, until he registered himself in the Imperial Military. He went thru extensive training, before serving has a Imperial Military Battlemage, during this time he was assigned to Squad Dragon Eye, where he would find out his next mission.

@GreivousKhan: Kiania is accepted.

#Sovi3t: I would like to see a little more out of Jartod before I accept him. From what you've described him as he seems like a normal soldier, and that's fine, but I'd like to see some kind of proof that he will be a dynamic character or one who doesn't change but has some level of depth.

I will begin working on the IC soon. For now, here is your friendly neighborhood Thalmor.

Name: Quarivier (Pronounced Kwor-ah-veer)
Age: 81 (~35 in human years)
Race: Altmer
Class: Thief
Appearance: Quarivier

Equipment: Quarivier wears traveler's leather armor and a heavy orange cloak. He has an elven dagger firmly hidden away in his belt, a kit of lockpicks, and a length of elven made wire, nearly unbreakable, designed especially for Thalmor spies to quickly and stealthily eliminate their victims from up close.

Talents/Spells/Strengths: Quarivier has a knack for getting around unnoticed. Its in his posture. He can blend into a crowd and become the least interesting person in the room. His only spell is a limited invisibility, which lasts for no more than half a minute and is mostly used for escape. He is very agile and can climb most structures.

Weaknesses: Quarivier is wracked with self doubt. He was born into his job; he never wanted it. He never wanted to ally himself with the Thalmor. Sometimes he questions them, and by extension himself. At the same time, however, he feels that the Thalmor are the future of the Altmer. He does hold the belief that Altmer are superior to men, but he doesn't wish violence upon men. He is also inexperienced and has a terrible fear of crowds. Quarivier never had an affinity for magic, despite his blood. It was rumored among his superiors that his father was not Altmer, but in fact Orc. It would explain his apparent weakness in natural Altmer talents. This would have been unacceptable to the Thalmor (they would have killed him), but it was never proven.

Personality (optional): Quarivier was raised into killing stealthily and retrieving information from behind enemy lines. It is all he knows. He claims his very body to be a vessel for the Dominion's Matriarch. He hates being the center of a serious situation and will often try to use humor to ease his own tension.

Background: Quarivier's role in life was assigned from birth. He was to be a spy for the Thalmor. He was born into a program that has been likened to the "Thalmor's Shadowscales", but Quarivier is marked by no special birthsign. He was raised to kill because the Thalmor had enemies in need of killing. He took his first life when he was twelve, and continued to act as a spy, thief and assassin for the Thalmor ever since.

For many years, Quarivier was kept in Alinor. Although he graduated (survived) the program, he was deemed the weakest assassin the Thalmor had raised. He was basically put on permanent reserve for decades, occasionally breaking into a noble's house or assassinating an old farmer accused of being sympathetic to the plight of men. When he carried out such tasks, he did so with efficiency and tact, for Quarivier was not sidelined because of his talents. He was put on reserve because the Thalmor doubted his devotion to the cause. They had raised a trained killer from birth who was now questioning their way of life; there was no way that they would let him leave Alinor and be exposed to other ways of thinking. Quarivier continued to doubt the Thalmor, but he never was able to think of an alternative to the Thalmor. They were everything to him.

It was around two years ago when the Thalmor deemed Quarivier sufficiently 'conditioned' to safely travel outside of Alinor, but even then he was only allowed in Valenwood. He found no shortage of enemies, though, and participated in many of the dreaded "Valenwood Purges". Quarivier's doubts continued with him until General Sidonis formed the new Alessian Empire. The news of hundreds, if not thousands, of his kinfolk being butchered by Men reaffirmed his faith in everything the Thalmor stood for. Seeing this, the Thalmor decided to send him to where he would fight most passionately: Alessian Skyrim. They lent Quarivier to the Empire, who formed the Dragon's Eye squad around him in the interest of getting him into the city of Falkreath.

So you can interact with NPCs if you want, and control them. This is a time to introduce your character and do anything else that you want to do. The real action will begin when you enter the town, and even then it will go how you decide it will go.

Edit: Is it sad that ever since starting this roleplay my 3AM slot has been filled with reading ever increasingly obscure facts about TES lore?

Finnen said Although, the man was reported to be a competent mage and the way he dealt with those wolves in the Jeralls was a sight to see. Definitely not for the faint of heart but a sight to see.

*Begins coming up with an unhinging dewolfing event in case it ever becomes relevant.*

Awesome, I will get a post up soon.

Seems Jartod will be the only other Redguard here perhaps. As a minor side note Sov, Hammerfell has never had a standing army, but you can always say you joined a knight order as they pretty much fill that role in the province.

I'll accept Jartod now, thanks for editing. GreivousKhan, I'll say it's the 31st of Sun's Height, mid after noon, because why not (AKA, Tamriellic equivalent of July 31st). As always, use your imagination while posting. You can do anything.
