Pokemon Tabletop United: An Arabian Adventure

So. This is an interest check for a Pokemon Tabletop United game in an Arabian fantasy setting. I saw the idea in Game of Throhs, the fantasy splatbook, and thought it was cool, so here we are. I'm not sure about an overarching plot, but some points I have are:

Magic Lamps replace Pokeballs. This is because it's hard to grow trees in the desert, and thus apricorns are fairly rare. It's a serious status symbol to have a Pokemon in a ball.

The players will have a place to return to in the main city of Balbadda. Being a bazaar, you can find just about anything for sale here.

Water and Grass-type pokemon will be rare, except around oases.

Ancient ruins! Staple of the genre, really.

Mummy curses? Yes.

Naive Sultan, Scheming Vizier, Beautiful Prince/Princess, Good-Hearted Numel/Camerupt Merchant? You can bet your starter that a lot of the archetypes from the Arabian Nights are showing up.

I'd love to, but ya do know modern pokeballs are metal and high tech polymers. If this is some sort of old world though then it makes a bit more sense i guess.

Either way I'd like to be the Indy of the group if you would. The historian, the dungeon delver, the guy with an awesome hat! Whats more fun than an outsider anyways breaks up the sameiness.

I could just see fantastic teams for the character. Golett would be the starter for sure if that'd be ok.

EDIT: having jsut read up on PTU (I used PTA before), I am now 100% certain I want in on this. I didn't even know they made a better version!

I even could help out if you'd like ideas on old school gear for them as I've done a lot of Alt history writing for pokemon. I'd still hope for a european explorer/treasure hunter/archeologist to provide some variety.

I like the idea, but I'm just not fond of the fact it's going to be tabletop. Seems like way too many complicated stats to keep track of. Numbers/math is the bane of my existence.
