Question- would sentient races other than humans be allowed in the mortal plane? sorry for the double post.

I would be dubious about it. I'd feel a lot more comfortable with the idea if whatever races you wanted to incorporate were actually explained as off-shoot subspecies of Humans.

NewSun said I wasn't planning on accepting people on a first come, first served basis. So depending on how much interest is expressed I might lock it out for you. I'd say go ahead and get brainstorming though, worst case scenario would just mean we need to add more Planes into the mix.

No claimsies just yet, but go ahead and gather your ideas, I can imagine you'll get the Wraith Lands anyway. Just hope that Khan goes for the Abyss ;)

Note: I'm going to be adding a couple more Planes into the mix. They have yet to be truly designated, but expect one based on Decay, Filth and Rot, and one based on Domination, Conquest and Rule.

Have you considered a realm of an Abyss of eternal winter like hell? With ice and frost?

Maybe even an ocean plane filled with horrors of the deep?

Might keep things varied, up to you of course. I'm just throwing stuff out there. Anything could be given a paint of evil with the right amount of imagination.

Flagg and I in our discussions have agreed that this Planar Conflux is likely not the first one to have occurred - that they come and go on a cyclical basis, separated by tens of thousands of years. So the planes and Mortal Realm could conceivably be of the same age, part of the same cosmic superstructure in a manner of speaking.

The god that I based Izalia off had a neat realm, an infinitely growing M.C. Escher-inspired labyrinth of stone that reacted to the minds of those within to create the most maddening possible arrangement.

The only problem being that it drove its master insane just as easily as it did mortals.

Roughly. There is no definite age for any of the planes, as they are all technically sempiternal constructs of long-forgotten gods. They were likely constructed at different times, but that gap is infinitesimally small compared to the length of time that have actually been around.

As for creatures casting their 'shadows' in the Verdance: the Planes aren't necessarily 'afterlives', per se. The Wraith Lands are a destination for souls by design, but the Verdance is a separate land created by some God to replicate Nature (or create his own) for some perverse reason.

Also the Mortal World is just another Plane.

Im avoiding connotations. Each plane corresponds specifically to one type of 'element' in order to allow for a diverse range of applications. Hence i'm dubious about adding 'ice' to the 'darkness' realm and so on and so forth. Still might add in some of those suggestions, however.
