I was hoping I wasn't going to have to say it out loud (even though this thread was a hint), but the actions of everyone here over the next month or so are going to send Spam one way or the other. The past six or so months I was lucky if there was a single thread in spam to reply to. Now logging on consistently gives me 2-4 to reply to. Definitely not a number to brag about, definitely low enough that spam could die any moment if things go ugly. But it's over a 100% improvement from a long while. Though in all honesty we got this boost in activity even when the site itself is still very bare bones. If Mahz keeps at it and continues to update and improve the site I only see it encouraging people to post more, and for more new people to join. If Mahz suddenly stops though? Or the spam community basically decides to bail and/or treat new comers (or anyone since our numbers are so small) with hostility it's going to be the end of spam. In other words, I think if we follow our current track then spam will recover and be fine. But if either the updates stop or the community mentality changes then we might as well kiss spam goodbye.

The classic formula worked for a long time. Don't see any reason to change it up. Hell I don't think I'd even be here if not for the "classic formula". The constant snark and in-good-fun assholeishness from everyone was what kept me here.

The height of the Spam forum last year was one of the few times the Guild had an off-topic forum that people could be fucked to regularly care about. 90% of the Guild's traffic has always been RP-forums and PMs, so it brought a tear to my eye to see an off-topic forum with some activity and a sense of humor no matter how cringeworthy. Still less cringe than the Off-Topic Discussion and Member Lounge forums. Wonder how much of the dancing banana brigade remains. ![](http://i.imgur.com/2ZHzssp.gif)

I'm not saying don't criticize, use dark humor, be silly etc. That's all good and well and something I strongly support. But trying to outcast and berate certain members out of boredom or personal bias isn't going to help a community grow. Especially when it's bordering dying out completely.

Top five worst ideas I've ever heard. It makes sense in a way because it's how Spam started -- I know -- but it's just not going to happen that easily. Just post a little more, dude. Do more than make an occasional incoherent thread. A little more incoherent comments, perhaps?
