The DC Universe just got a little bigger! Create heroes in the world of Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman in the fight against Darkseid's son... Kalibak! At the worst possible time ever the Justice League is offworld when the son of the dark god comes calling for the head of the Kryptonian. With a powerful army backing him can a handful of no-name heroes come to grips with being Metropolis' only hope for survival?

I'm gonna keep this short and simple since a lot of times these things don't take off. My stat system is fairly simple, and most of the stats just limit you to what you can do in-battle as far as how many attacks you can have per post [Speed], how strong they are [Strength], what different attacks [Attack], how many defensive moves you can have per battle and what they are [Defense], and then of course there's an IQ stat and a health stat. Characters would begin with level 1 stats [16 stat points] and gain another level/stat point for every 5 posts in-game. A signature move is awarded at Level 3 and is worth double damage or double defense. A signature defense is the only defense for a signature attack and the only defensive move you can use for another player.

The stats are mostly for the battling. While we're still telling a story from our heroes POV, the battles will give each scene more weight when we're put in situations we can barely overcome if at all. You'll control your characters once I set up the battles as well as the enemies you fight to a degree. If any fights are too one sided I'll post using the enemies more to level the playing field. I'm thinking with every 5 posts in-game when you earn a stat point and level up your health stat will reset. That should make it more fair when we're surrounded by half a dozen enemies.

Here's a breakdown of how the system works:

If this happens we'll keep track of who can do what and what level everyone is with stat cards that I'll keep updated. The first post of the Character Tab [assuming this sub forum still has them?] will be for the heroes/players in the game. The second will be our enemies. The third will be the rest of my CS and then following that should be the rest of everyone else accepted into the game. Every 5 posts you earn a level and stat and I'll be updating the cards frequently [assuming everyone keeps posting].

So c'mon people, let's make some heroes and see them evolve in whatever DC world we decide to build. ANY type of setting, I can quite literally make a game out of anything. Darkseid's forces are just the tip of the iceberg...

You guy's are just wrong. But still, post the rest of your CS's in the character tab so we can get more people in on this. Endrance mentioned she was having to drop a lot of her RPs but I'm still talking to one or two more prospects. Plus there's a little interest in the Marvel stat game as well now it seems...

To be more specific, you start out with just 16 points to distribute to everything but Health. Best way to change it would be to knock your speed down a little so you have the points for Attack and Defense, or drop a move or two each from Attack and Defense. Health is all your stats combined except for Attack.

Keep any attacks and defenses in your mind or on a note somewhere, once you gain more stat points/levels you can add them.

I've dimmed the attacks and defenses off for now, to show they're 'inactive'. Once I level up I can then highlight them again to show they're been learnt by Streak. :)

I've deliberately set Streak's Speed to 9 since I want her to be faster than any of the other characters (and the Warhounds are Speed 8.) Not sure what the rest of your comment is about though, since her stats add up to 16 so why would she need to drop anything down?

Yup. And don't worry about the stat cards, I'll make them and keep them updated for everyone in the first post of the character tab. The only time it was ever a problem was when it was a GLC based game and I had 26 players to keep up with...

You had 3 attacks and 3 defenses listed. I'll leave the one for attack and the first two for defense when I remake the card. It just threw me off for a sec cause your Attack and Defense stat would've needed to be higher.

@The Kid Lantern Just out of curiosity, why doesn't Retiarius (lit. Latin for 'net-fighter') have a net or any entangling attacks at all?

I'm sure that was one of the things knighthawk had in mind to add later.

I'm not sure I understand the way your system works properly. The way I took it was that your Attack stat was the number of attacks your character could use per turn, coupled with their Speed. That would mean a either a fast or a powerful attacker would be able to cause a lot of damage quickly.

Your last comment seems to suggest what you meant was that the Attack stat is the number of different attacks a character could learn, while the Speed determines how many of those attacks could be used each combat turn. Is that correct then?

If that's the case then Streak would be able to take her 'Rapid Punch' attack straight away, and then use it 5 times each combat round but only causing 1 damage each time (due to her low Strength. She is only a trim little thing after all. )

After she levels up Streak could then take +1 to her Attack, allowing her to learn 'Lightning Dash' due to the extra attack slot now available, or +1 to her Strength so she can double the damage she causes each round with her 'Rapid Punch' attack instead.

How do the different attack abilities work in combat? What benefit would Streak get for using 'Lightning Dash' instead of 'Rapid Punch'?

That's where everything gets a little dumb'ed down for beginner reasons. If your strength is between 1-5 your attacks can only dish out -1 damage per hit however, when you reach Level 3 you earn a Signature Attack or Defense that does double damage or protects you twice as much and would be -2 damage or +2 back on health. If your strength is 6-10 your attacks cause -2 damage. A signature attack or defense from somebody with high strength would be -4 per hit or +4 back to your health.

If it makes things easier I'll work up a sample post later on to begin the IC and to show you guys how the system works in game. I'll also make a sample stat card for somebody with a higher stat/level like Superman and show you guys how to spread out powers and abilities in your stats.

Here's a level 10 Superman with a fully filled out card. Now, if he was level 5 he'd have five less stat points. Less attacks, strength, speed, whatever. Characters for this shouldn't be created perfect, the idea is for them to grow into the more fleshed out heroes like Superman.

Superman? Pah! Why not use a proper hero as an example?

Although I'm not sure what signature move she would have, since she's magnificent without needing to resort to tricks. Perhaps the Signature Defence 'One With The Earth', which would allow her to merge with the ground, removing all harmful status effects and regaining all her health?

By the way, how does IQ affect combat?
