Sometimes... Sometimes, things really don't go as you'd expect them to. Successes turn into failures, jokes into cruel derision, and even profits turn into losses. Even death is often sudden, and people, being as they are, never really see it coming. But, as they say, there can always be stranger. But what could be stranger than death, whose existence, though understandable in the scientific context, still cannot be fully grasped?

You wake amidst a sea of red and white grass, which obviously sets off some alarms inside your head. Perhaps you were studying for an exam, reading a book, even browsing the internet or playing a game- whatever it was, you're certain that this was NOT where you had been before. The grogginess of sleep is rapidly replaced by alarm, though, as you turn and look at yourself; you're certainly not the person you had been. Maybe you look the same, maybe you look radically different; whatever the case is, something is DEFINITELY not right here. The clothes you wear only give a similar impression; they seem to be made from leather and wool and the like, quite similar to what those in the Middle Ages wore way back when.

Thrown into such a strange scenario, you come to notice that a few other people seem to be acting much as you are now- with panic, confusion, and denial. But you still remain here, lost in this plain of unfamiliar grass.

From here, your adventure in a foreign land begins, though obviously not of your own volition. Do you try to escape whatever force has dragged you into this mess, or rise to the challenge this world has so carelessly fraught upon you?

So, as you may have ascertained already, this RP will entail the lives of a small group of people (I'm hoping 4-5 at most) from present-day Earth as they are tossed into a fantasy world with absolutely no prior warning whatsoever. Though they may appear different, their memories remain the same as they were back on Earth, albeit with a few extras added in (like the sudden knowledge of a foreign language). The goal? Well, that's for the players to decide... For now, at least.

The world as things stand right now:
-Characters are not necessarily human anymore; elves, dwarves, beastfolk, and the like all exist in this world. Though your character may, by some chance or circumstance, remain a human, their appearance may differ greatly (or not at all) from what it used to be. Of course, that doesn't mean that they can't look the same as they did before.
-Magic does exist in this world; it is categorized under six elemental affinities: fire, water, earth, air, holy, and unholy. The type of magic, in turn, is categorized by its performance: beginner, intermediate, expert, and master. Most, if not all magic, is cast through incantations or magic circles. As of their entry into the world, though, no player character has knowledge that magic even exists here.
-As was common back in the day, interracial prejudice is prominent; those who associate between races are few and far between. At the end of the day, only merchants and mercenaries really have such contact, if at all.
-No character has knowledge about the world or the current location; that remains unknown for the moment to all involved parties. It may or may not remain that way, depending on how the characters act in the future.

Any is fine, though I would request non-generic pictures if you choose to do so. Too many people using the same pictures over and over causes really weird overlaps in my head and causes general confusion when multiple characters over multiple RPs are designated to the same image lol.

Personality: Luke always was a kind and caring type. He would always look out for the ones he loves or the ones he holds near to his heart. Even if he didn't know you he still would open the door for you or just wave to you and it would brighten your day just a little bit. But when it came to work hours Luke to it seriously he was a tough and straight forward smart ass. No one could phase him. Hard-Ass Harrison they called him. If you needed a good talking to he wouldn't mind tell you the straight truth and he wouldn't hold back. He always liked to make the goof balls and drunks look like idiots. In fact it was like he was paid to make people look stupid! Yes when it came to the bar he was a lean, mean sun of a gun but outside he was a gentle giant a wouldn't hurt a fly.

Skills: Luke knew his way around a fight. Not just bar fights either he got to street fights and was a one time boxing champion. So you could say Luke is pretty could. Well that and Luke was a pretty good rifleman. He knows his way around a rifle, pistol, any gun really. Besides bar-tending some say guns are his passion. No one is really sure but one thing is for sure is that he is good at shooting them. He is one of the quickest and most accurate shots in New York. Which isn't a lot but it's something. He is also a hell of a bartender. He can pour a glass, slide it down the counter, and not one drop of liquid will fall out. It's pretty cool to watch. He's won awards for it.

History: Luke started his job as the local bartender in Warwick, New York when he was just 19. He was only an assistant at the time but it didn’t take long because only 2 years later when he was 21 the main bartender died of a stroke and Luke took over. During his time as bartender (and soon owner of the whole place) Luke became a well known face in Warwick, and no one really got in his way or even wanted to. They liked Luke. He was kind to the elderly, and stood his ground when needed to. Of course he had problems with guys who drunk in his bar but he handed them well. He won’t tell anyone this but he keeps a double barrel shotgun underneath the counter, a revolver behind the light beer keg, and a switchblade in the register. Yeah Luke can be a hard ass, smart ass, and will make you look like an ass but overall he is a sweet guy at heart. He is kind to all, very considerate, and has a very soft side that he keeps at home. Overall Luke tries to stay strong and be tough keep things going but he cares about his friends,family, and people who are nice too him in general.

Other: Luke was voted most likely to Succeed, Most Likely to be Leader and Most Friendly In high school. Luke has not lost a bar fight, mostly because he hasn’t been drunk while in one. Luke has a fear of having a fear(otherwise known as Phobia-phobia) he thinks that if he ever gets so scared of something that it starts to bother him he will go mental and it will affect his life in a deep and bothersome way, so he just never talks about fear in general. Sure he’s been scared but not deeply that it will affect him again and again like a phobia.

Sky stood at 5'8" on a rather average frame, considered neither skinny nor fat. She had long, curly black hair that reached down to the small of her back when straightened. Usually worn in curled pig tails or a sing pony tail. Her eyes were a deep green, usually hidden behind a pair of black glasses and turned down into the depths of a fantasy novel.

The reinvented "Nova" stands a little taller than her original self, topping out at 5'11". Other differences include a much slender frame and much lighter hair. While the length remains the same, Skylar's dark hair turned completely white and her green eyes paled into a pair of crystal blue orbs. In addition, she also has swirled tattoos that appear when she is under great physical or emotional stress.

Personality:
Skylar has always been a bit of a dreamer, always sticking her nose into books while her mind flew through the clouds. She was never really one to get involved, lacking the confidence in her own abilities to try anything new. Forced into kindness by the troubles in her life, she has a lot of built up rage that never saw the light of day. Internally she cold, sarcastic and cynical while externally she smiled and wished everyone well. Despite having the ability to start anew, Skylar still remains a silent figure... However her demenour is much colder than she ever was at home.

Skills:
Skylar has a keen eye but an even sharper ear, making language and miscellaneous noise mimicry easy. She's also an extremely fast reader, and surprisingly enough, a decent athlete when it comes to running long distance. Other such odd skills include being able to balance three to five books(depending on size) on her head while walking.

History:
Skylar had always been an odd child, preferring to play the cops & robbers games with the boys than sit around with the girls. Bullied for her oddities from a young age, Skylar didn't grow up with many friends and by the time she hit high school she had absolutely no one to talk to. Sticking to herself, she didn't join any of the school clubs but instead spent her time at home reading books, watching movies and writing about fantastical worlds that only existed within her head. When she was old enough, Skylar got a job at a run down book store, spending most of her time reading due to a lack of customer flow. Choosing the early and late hours of the day, Skylar ran unseen through the town, jogging for hours to work off her personal frustrations rather than taking it out on the people who truly deserved it.
Living in a household with two loving parents and a pain in the butt, older brother, Skylar was the youngest and the most spoiled in the house. She adored her elder brother, following him around the house when she was younger. When he went away for college, Skylar found herself a little lost, turning to books to fill the hole that was left behind.

Other:
In an attempt to reinvent herself, Skylar has changed her name to Nova.
Nova also has a pet bird, and excells at the magical arts (once discovered).

Personality: Bubbly but a bit shy to new people, Cass tries to make the most out of life. She's constantly trying to see the bright side of things and always trying to find ways to laugh. She's often the one to crack jokes, even if they're at the wrong time. She's not one for taking things lying down and prefers hitting things head on. However, she does have her flaws. Underneath the optimism lies a deeper darker Cass. In truth, she is very insecure. Sure, she makes the most out of everything, but... Do people really like her for her? Is she really needed? Is she loved? Despite the smile she holds on her face, Cass has her moments of weakness. If one watches her enough, they'll find that occasionally she'll stop and stare off into space, a withdrawn look on her face. Someone close to her might be worried, might see the abyss that she drags herself into. She wants to be happy, but can she honestly follow her own advice?

Skills: Cass, as herself, doesn't have too many skills. She can cook pancakes from scratch and knows how to camp because of her background in venturing, the sort of off-brand scouting branch, but she doesn't have much in the way of what she would call 'useful' skills. Lyla though, Lyla is a skilled hunter and carries a bow and a hunting knife with her at all times. As a born Lycanthrope, Lyla has very refined reflexes and a very, very nasty bite. Cass gets some of those skills from Lyla, but it still relatively new to the whole, my body can turn into a fur ball thing. Her body knows what to do, but the beast inside of her can sense her weakness of will and tries with all of it's might to take control. It will take awhile for Cass' body to stop fighting itself on the night of the full moon.

History: Cass grew up in a healthy home to warm and loving parents and several pets. She never worried for lack of food or clothes and went to a normal public school. Being a particularly average girl, Cass didn't have too many friends. She joined the band and made a few friends there but for the most part her group of friends was small and relatively close knit. She'd rather have few good friends than many shallow ones. She has a scar on her right hip that she got from falling off of the dock at her grandfather's lake house, and a small tattoo of a feather on her ankle, to remember a friend that had passed away her freshman year of high school, taken by a drunk driver of all things. She was still in college, spending her last year to gain her teaching certificate when it happened.

Cass is certainly normal. However, the person she has become is... far from normal. Lyla grew up in the forests, with her single mother along side her two sisters and brother, all part of the same litter. Their father had left well before their mother had given birth, not wanting to deal with raising them in such a 'cruel world' as Lyla's mother said he put it. Now, Lyla finds herself alone, all of her family already hunted and killed by noblemen. Lyla's mission, before Cass came, was to find these men and get her revenge. She'd planned to take them out one by one, capturing their families and making them watch as she turned them, one family member at a time. Now, Cass sits with a list of names in her pocket, a bow at her back and a dagger in her hand. With no clue as to where or... at this point who she is. What the hell is going on?!

Other: Cass is wearing hunter clothing. It is warm but form fitting and allows her to move quickly and silently without being seen. Her weapons were stolen but the necklace around her neck was give to her by her mother, an heirloom their family passed down. On it, is a symbol of her family, the clan Kailani, an all but hunted clan of lycanthropes. Lyla keeps it wrapped in a small black cloth around her neck, hidden under her shirt.

Also, Cass can sort of control her were-form when the full moon isn't out. Lyla, as a Lycan born, could transform at will but had to at the full moon. Her body still knows this so when Cass gets flustered or otherwise upset, she changes without ever meaning to. She still has complete control but she looks like a blundering fluff ball trying to remember where it's feet are. In other words, she has no idea how to drive this thing. [Think Ariel when she got legs. It's not hard to master, she just has to get used to yanno, being furry and... a hell of a lot bigger.]

She is a mere 0.3 metres tall in terms of height, twice as tall and proportionate in measurements to an ostrich egg. In terms of Ling maturity, she is still a child.

Personality:
Sakura is a very lonely young woman who just wants company. The one thing she fears most is utter neglect, which she has lived through a great deal of her life save for her Butler and Maid. She wants to stick to her friends and does not wish to part with them, for such situations will make her feel great fear.
She is socially awkward, and finds it difficult to initiate conversations. She will jitter if others try to converse with her.

Sakura has an extent of claustrophobia. Being trapped in a small space gives her the trauma of being locked in that room. Her will is most weak, and is easy to shatter if placed in a dangerous situation. Her low self esteem tends to restrict her from performing actions.

Skills:
Being a sheltered young lass, she has few to no skills beyond moral support.
She has previously taken dance lessons, and she can improvise these into her battle style. Generally, a rookie Ling can be rendered helpless by grasping it firmly with two hands and facing its crack away from you, until it struggles out eventually. However, she can actually spin herself out of such a situation, smacking the hands away.
She has basic self defense skills. Very basic. The one she tends to prefer is 'headbutt the stomach'. Using her diminuitive height, she jumps and bashes into an opponent's stomach.

History:
Miyamoto Sakura was born as the last child of the Miyamoto family, which was a wealthy family that had much authority and influence. You'd think she was some sort of princess, getting everything she wanted. Well, that was not entirely true, unfortunately for our young lady.

The Miyamoto family was successful and busy, which meant that Sakura was usually alone at home, accompanied by maids and butlers, the only 'friends' she really had. Her parents wanted her to be a successful person, much like her three older brothers, and not associate with 'lesser ones', in other words, middle class or poor people who couldn't make ends meet. Her father forbade her from speaking with boys apart from her family, for she already had an arranged marriage, prepared even before she was born into this world. The world for Sakura was lonely. It was cruel. It was brimmed by despair. She wanted to escape the wrath of being pulled by strings, being her parents' puppet for the rest of her life.

Barred from friends, destined to be violated by one she did not love, producing an heir for someone else. Was this her destiny?

Over the years, she had wanted to leave this very world. She tried to commit suicide, but each time, she was halted by her maids and butlers, and during that one time her parents found out, they locked her in the room for a few days.

Her maids and butlers reminded her that there was more to life than her bird cage. They assured her that some day, but not soon, she would be free. But when was this 'one day'? What if it never came?

It was just another bright night under the full moon as she fell asleep on her bed after following her daily, boring routine. What she didn't realise was that she was not being pulled into a dream, but something else. Was it a sign of freedom? That depends on how you define freedom.

Other:
Young Ling are naturally imbued with magic usage. However, this is limited to regular elemental spits of Water, Earth, Fire and Air that hurt as much as a punch, kick, or sword slash. These are instinctive, so if Sakura tries to hurl a punch on reflex, these will occur instead until she learns to control them. The 'usual' magic will have to be learnt and improvised.

Ling Trivia

Ling are a rather unique beast race with some extent of varied plumage. In their child stage, they remain in their sturdy shells because their limbs have not been fully developed, neither do they have their egg teeth, which are present in baby animals such as ducks and turtles, as a temporary structure to break out of the egg.

Their egg shells are coated with some sort of magic-like barrier. Until ready to fully hatch, they will be as unbreakable as steel. However, Ling still feel the pain phasing through these egg shells.
When ready to hatch, this magic barrier will be absorbed to be used as magical energy to break from the egg shell.

Ling are viewed as very odd and mysterious to other races. They're practically talking, living eggs in their eyes.

Once they do fully break out of their shells with their egg teeth, they will resemble one of these four varieties of Ling. Mature Ling are known as Jinling. Jinling are big in size, and even the smallest are large enough to use as mounts for a large human, while the larger Jinling might find rather mild trouble fitting through a human door. It should be noted that all four varieties are still the same species.


Red Jinling are skilled in fire magic. They are similiar to the 'Zhuque' of Chinese mythology. They have flight capabilities. They tend to be the ones with most hope and will. In Eastern lands, it is a belief that if one sees them flying across the skies, luck will be granted. However, people tend to be terrified should they come face-to-face with them.


White Jinling are skilled in metal-themed earth magic, as well as melee offense with their claws. They are similiar to 'Baihu' of Chinese mythology. They have vast speed and dexterity, as well as great sense of smell and sight, like the predators they are. They tend to be the ones with most bravery. They are said to be untamable beasts.


Black Jinling are skilled in water magic, as well as the art of defense and close-ranged attack. They are similiar to 'Xuanwu' of Chinese mythology. They cast attacks via their snake-like tails. They may be slow, but their defensive shell is near impenetrable. They tend to be the ones with most wisdom. While people are most astonished upon seeing these creatures, they do not see them as a threat.


Blue Jinling are skilled in the power of the air and some extent of nature-based earth magic. They are similiar to 'Qinglong' of Chinese mythology. They have flight capabilities They tend to be the balanced ones, a mix of bravery, wisdom and will. They are very mysterious in the eyes of other races.

There is one more kind which will be revealed later - the Golden Jinling, which is a rare occurrence with currently unrevealed conditions. The status of Golden Jinling is much like King Arthur and Excalibur - a Jinling must be worthy in order to reach this state. Despite its rare occurrence, they are neccesary to decide a worthy ruler.
The Jinling and Ling inhabit the Shenqi Canyons. You can see giant ochre or grey-hued rock-based pagodas around the area, and other forms of Chinese Architecture. It's basically feudal China, except the buildings are more spaced out. In the centre lies the gold-hued jewel-encrusted king's palace, which houses Emperor Huanglong, a Golden Jinling.

Jinling are a peaceful race, but they see many other races, including humans, as harbringers of war. However, they are understanding to some extent. If they see an abandoned human child, the kinder ones would adopt it and raise it. Even the crueller Jinling spare children and only harm grown adults should wrong be done.

In order for Ling to mature, these egg-bound juveniles must go on a journey to decide which of the four they will mature into, much like a carp to a dragon, or Pokemon evolution.

If a Ling stays in its child state for more than 25 years, they will die prematurely, and that happens 20% of the time, which in kind of a big chunk. From the time they abandon their shells until they mature into their Jinling states, they can live for potentially five hundred years, maybe take or give a few decades. Should a Jinling enter the phase of Golden Jinling, they will have a thousand more years of life, but will die a decade after another Golden Jinling is chosen.

Jinling will recognise a Ling even after they have metamorphosised into Jinling. This may not be the case for other races, unless they can identify things such as old traits from their time as egg-bound Ling.

Ling are basically egg-bound beasts. Their egg shells comes in a variety of colours. They will mature both literally and metaphorically during their journey.

Rae-Ah had grown to reach an exceptional 5"7ft. with an ordinary, indistinguishable body that never stood out from the rest. Everything about her was deemed mediocre at best, which was usual for a shrine priestess. She wore her hair in a neat bun or long ponytail almost everyday, fastened tightly with red and white ribbons in order to look presentable to her higher-ups and during important ceremonies.

As her height remained the same, everything else was a high contrast to her original appearance. Her brunette locks were turned a chalky platinum, to match the fur of her gumiho form. A crimson tattoo resembling the licks of flame rests upon the expanse of her forehead, symbolizing her state of mind, chakra and her ability to transform. Depending on whether she is at her lowest in terms of mental state or simply lacking adequate power at some point in time, her mark glows a threatening vermillion. Her wide eyes are emphasized, as opposed to her earthly form, due to her inflamed irises and feline-esque eyes. Rae also has long, wispy ears and a single tail to match.

[CURRENT APPEARANCE - GUMIHO]

Rae-Ah stands at 8ft in her transformed state. In length, she is 5 meters long, with nine tails sprouting from her rump and are about twice as long as her body. The gumiho's eyes stay true to fire, reflecting every warm color simultaneously. The fur stays a ghastly white, with a wide range of markings and tattoos scattered across her body, some of them vaguely resembling flames.

[HISTORY]

Rae was brought up by a lower-class family in the rural areas of North Korea. Growing up in a poorer condition than the norm, she was taught the gifts of gratitude and benevolence. The young girl led a happy life, with a kind yet fiery soul that burned so bright, it even leaked through her demeanor. Grateful for even the smallest things, ranging from the chirping of the cicadas to gifts from small children at the temple- she never lacked anything in her own terms.

When she was young, she frequented a small temple near her village, wedged in-between the mountainside and a miniature stream. Her parents made her visit the gods there, to thank them for their provisions and to ask for blessings every now and then. Rae-Ah was young, incompetent and trusting, which were all ideal features a certain travelling preacher had set his eyes on her for. The greedy, lustful temple-owner offered a handsome price to Rae's parents in exchange for her, insisting that this deed was to be done by the will of the gods. By nature, her parents outrightly refused the offer, telling them that if it was in exchange for their daughter, 'the gods' would have told them themselves. They were highly religious, but they were not idiots.

From behind the paper-thin walls, however, an optimistic, yet naive Rae had overheard this transaction. Despite her parents' pleas, the girl had convinced them that if she were to agree, that would mean she would be able to take part in a bigger picture whether they believed it or not. The starry-eyed girl was so forward, spouting stories of success that would soon come to them if she were to go to work full-time at the temple.

They knew the temple the seedy man spoke of was miles and miles away, with such a distance that their budget wouldn't be able to handle a single train ride without crumbling to dust. It was all or nothing, and with pools of tears they came to a decision with the eager daughter.

"Whatever makes you happy, my dear..." her mother said reluctantly in heavy puffs of breath, in between periodic sobs that were soaked up by her husband's collar. With that, Rae-Ah was finally let go.

The travel took a week for them to reach their destination. The man brought Rae-Ah to the three-story shrine, greeted by a few other servants. She was put off by the lack of care the holy structure was shown, but she brushed aesthetics aside.

Some grimaced during her introduction, because they knew for sure what was in store for her. During the six years she stayed at his temple, she was frequently brought down to the cellars by the same man who'd whispered in her ears the night she left about the wonders of the gods, and how by doing his deeds, her family would benefit greatly. Although, little did her family know, the same 'holy temple' they had sold their daughter to held more bloodcurdling screams than hospital rooms where newborns lay.

[PERSONALITY]

Rae-Ah was always the type of person to give more than she got. The girl held a wholesome heart, with enough love to provide her entire village with. Growing up, she never had many friends besides the people she served and those she served with. As a result, the scarce number had led her to hold the very few people she had close to her heart. Rae-Ah never thought for herself, which was what landed her in that hellhole in the first place. To her, there was always something that was worth more than she was, which is both good for other people, yet terrible for herself. She always strives to speak the truth, as honesty is one of the virtues the gods had valued in their time, along with wishing well upon others.

[POWERS]

In her fox form, she possesses the ability to stride across large pacts of land at an extremely fast pace, due to her increased stamina. In this state, dexterity and strength are enhanced through her exceptionally large stature- allowing for decent combat techniques. But when she is transformed, the fox's instinctual carnivorous, predator instinct replaces her human tact, causing her to be blood-thirsty and easily aggravated. Fortunately, this also grants her enhanced smell and hearing, with the limiting range of a good 15 meters or so. All of her tails can be manipulated to act like whips as well.

When she is in her humanoid form, her magical potential is highly increased. This makes up for her lack of speed and strength, balancing out her strengths and weakness. As a gumiho, she embodies the ability to shape-shift into a large, nine-tailed fox. If given enough practice, she is able to contract and increase her claw length, even while in her humanoid state. Fox fires will also surround her, staying passive until an adversary is spotted. These fox-fires are generated after some time and rest, which can make her extremely vulnerable if they're all used up. Additionally, only when her chakra is fully charged, she is able to project minor illusions, targeting anyone she pleases. Of course, this will all only be available for her once she learns how to actually channel that magical power.

[TENDENCIES]

Rae-Ah starts to feel an intense craving for meat of any kind when she is low on energy, however this is only in her gumiho form. When she isn't transformed, almost anything can saturate her hunger. Rae must avoid transforming into a fox when food is scarce lest one would want her to devour her entire team.
