Once upon a time there was a forum I visited that did something similar. It was the official forum for Runescape fan-fics. But the community there would sometimes rally around some poor fool who'd write a large story involving everyone. This series of story was usually referred to in-general as Forumer.

No Forumer story was actually ever finished however.
