Mostly because vampires seemed like the most logical ones to spread out, and I... admittedly haven't put much thought into the Western monsters yet. ^^; Unless you count demons but those skirt the line of being overpowered in terms of this setting.

The very first character I ever made for this setting was a vampire, which is why they're the only representatives as far as Western monsters go. Everything else as kind of just come up as I've needed it for something. ^^;

While he once again looks mostly fine, I have to say I'm not sure why he's a kitsune now, eh-heh. Wouldn't that make more sense for a fox?

You're absolutely right, I'm slipping on my Japanese mythology. Fixing to Bakaneko

Also, ERode, how did you get a Signature? How did any of you get a signature? xD

Hm, I would have thought that werewolves would have been more of the 'branching off to different countries' type, considering wolves are nomadic and such. XD

And you click on your name, and then click on the edit button in your profile to do the changes.

I haven't used werewolves for anything in the setting yet, so that's pretty much why I don't have anything about them yet, to be honest. ^^; I included most of what I have the most information and rules planned for as playable, eh-heh.

Welp, here we go.

*Name: Ryuuzaki Kotori
*Age: 18
*Appearance: "Hmmm?". She's actually rather tall for a Japanese girl. (Better picture by a better artist.)
*Personality: Ryuuzaki sees herself as a modern day samurai of sorts, and is something of a traditionalist as her clothing choices seem to imply. She applies herself to any task she performs with utmost seriousness, and can come off a little intimidating at first, but she is a well meaning, honest and loyal to a fault. She dreams of becoming a "Samurai of the People", not bound to a single lord but pledged to help mankind as a whole, and as such tries her hardest to trust the word of those she meets completely, her staunch belief in the better nature of people often coming off as a naivety at odds with her otherwise serious demeanour. She seems as though she was born a few centuries too late, and would've been much more at home during the time of the samurai; she's not at all comfortable with the modern world and finds it difficult operating most appliances. She can come off as somewhat tomboyish, and were this being written in Japanese she would refer to herself using masculine pronouns. Ryuuzaki hates her given name, Kotori, and prefers to be called by her family name, Ryuuzaki.
*Abilities: Insanely skilled with her sword. She practices Shinken Densetsu style kenjutsu, an ancient style mostly forgotten by the world that holds great power in its techniques. Most notably, she is able to use the legendary Tsubame Gaeshi technique, which has been passed down through the Ryuuzaki clan for generations. She's also generally atheletic all around, and possessed of far greater strength and agility than one would expect from a regular human. Ryuuzaki is also a somewhat skilled cook; whilst she's not quite the best cook in the world, her food is still usually delicious and edible.
*Weapons/Equipment: Wields the cursed sword Daikyouken, Blade of Calamity, what looks like a simple wooden katana but is in fact nigh-indestructable and capable of slicing through solid rock. As a cursed weapon, it is able to harm spirits, ghosts and other incorporeal entities. The sword is an heirloom of her family; thus, Ryuuzaki will not part with it for any reason.
*Brief Backstory: Ryuuzaki was born to a poor family, who somehow always managed to be thrifty enough to maintain ownership of a dojo, which she intends to inherit when she comes of age. Her family are traditionalists, and celebrate the old ways of the samurai and their bushido code, and Ryuuzaki wouldn't have them any other way. Her family has always known about the masquerade, and have been willing to help defend the innocent mundane people from the threats they don't understand for generations.

I was thinking of a youkai that ate other youkai, so yeah.....

Name: Mearii Gekkou
Age: 18, supposedly.
Appearance: At a height of 5'4 and with the slim, flat build of a young middle school girl, people usually think she's lying when Mearii says that she's already graduated high school. She looks younger that she is, but still gives off the impression that she could possibly look that young at the age of 18. With short, neck-length hair that shines like obsidian, her black eyes betray none of her inner emotions. Her hands, though delicate from the outside, are callused at certain points. An expert could tell that she has handled firearms for a long time.
Personality: Despite her stoic, empty expression, Mearii is a person who could be considered less 'cold' and more as being simply 'professional'. She's a serious, hard-working, studious person who rarely has the time to think about using her spare time for fun stuff. Generally, the only thing she spends her time on outside of work is reading history textbooks, mythology articles, and cleaning her guns. Such an image has become so integrated into her personality that she pretty much has to be forced to have fun in order to not feel guilty about wasting time. Smart in a 'never give up' way, Mearii is a person who is perfectly fine with spending hours on trial-and-error solution-finding instead of sleeping or eating or bathing. Perhaps, then, she could be considered a professional, shameless person.
Abilities: Mearii is an existence that is partway between human and youkai. A one-tail gumiho who had refrained from eating human flesh for over five years thus far, her supernatural powers have fallen to the extent where she has almost no powers outside of her ability to see other spirits, and where her 'charm' has simply been reduced to making her appear to be a presentable young girl, regardless of how long she hasn't showered. Doesn't prevent her from smelling odd though. With slightly sharper senses than the human race, Mearii is ultimately just slightly better than a human at smelling, seeing, hearing, and reacting. Makes her a good markswoman, if nothing else.

Brief Backstory Once upon a time, Mearri Gekkou was a gumiho, a fox spirit with the capability of gaining more tails and power the more human livers she devoured. With only one-tail, she was weak, and was only able to feed on the elderly or the diseased, ending their lives and calling it a mercy. But it tasted bad, and it was a practice that disillusioned her from doing so. Instead, the gumiho chose to starve, slowly wasting away in her spiritual form as mana seeped away from her body. She most likely would have ceased to exist, if it wasn't for a chance encounter with a Russian girl by the name of Josephine. From that Russian magi, she learned that one could gain energy from eating other youkai as well, and that if one chose to stay in a corporeal, a physical form, one could even become independent of mana for existing, instead depending on physical food to sustain themselves. It was an interesting proposition, and the moment Mearii took a bite out of another youkai, the taste, compared to diseased livers, was simply divine.

Soon, she gained the reputation of being a 'cannibal', a youkai that ate other youkais, an existence scorned and despised. Her mana regenerated faster due to this new diet, but her strength grew at a much slower rate. She was under Josephine's wing for a long time afterwards, depending on her protection as that magi taught her how to fight use modern weaponry, for Mearii was a one-tail gumiho, with almost no supernatural ability at all. It was fine though, and many years later, Mearii left her friend's care, going off into the world to become an independent woman.

Part of that was related to joining a supernatural detective agency solely for the higher chances of encountering stronger youkai during cases. Encounters that will become feasts.

Okay, um, I just want to clarify that she won't go just kind of eating any random youkai, since there are a couple planned NPC's and they're available to play as characters. And going into explicit detail with eating youkai is a no-go. But otherwise she looks pretty much fine, eh-heh.

My one request is that she carries less weaponry on her, since it's probably pretty hard to hide that much and it's not likely to be necessary all the time.

Yeah, she usually keeps them in the agency, and brings them out when she thinks she'll need them. Glock goes with her everywhere though. And I was planning on eating her methods of eating ambiguous anyways. Adds to the whole mystery and WTFISSHEDOING stuff...huehuehue...

Will you be telling me which youkai to avoid eating? Or do I ask you whether it's ok or not to eat the youkai?

Alright, then.

As for youkai not to eat, any actually in the detective agency(well, obviously since they're player characters but yeah) and, um, any that Toshiko has reasonable contact with.

Um... basically, um, possible minions are definitely okay, um... I'll make it clear if it's okay to kill off an villainous character.

Accepted.

Especially odd given that the game takes place in Japan with its stringent anti-gun laws and at-the-least gun-neutral if not anti-gun culture. Also that the Glock 17 isn't a standard police weapon in Japan IIRC

Probably and in fairness it says the Assault Rifle was a smuggled black market item. A bit odd to keep your military grade firearms in a building that's also home to at least two children as well but I say leave this all up to the GM to decide

IIRC, there are gun licenses in Japans. Too bad they only apply to shotguns and rifles. (I learned that from the manga 'I am a Hero'. The main character legally owned a shotgun in Japan.)

Well, it sorta helps that gumihos aren't even Japanese citizens the first place, and Russians aren't exactly native to Japan...hintsattravellinghint

And honestly, Mearii would be more confused as to why Japan's labor laws don't apply to little kids taking part time jobs as detectives. XD
