The door cracked open, and from inside was a fairly pale, skinny man. He looked rather normal, wearing plain clothes that were somewhat clean and fitted. he was bald and wore glasses that hugged his face. The reason for this was because he didn't have a nose, and where his nose should have been, it was sewn closed. Despite his somewhat freakish appearance, he cracked a wry smile. "Ah. You must be the new hunters, making all the new commotion. Mhmm. I'm sure you want me to work on the God Hand by my guess. I suppose I could, I could, mhmm. Well, come in." The door opened, allowing Kenji inside.

Inside the tannery it looked almost nightmarish. Various skins of monsters, animals, and even people, stretched out and being treated for future crafting. The smell that Kenji smelled on the way here was much stronger, sickeningly so. At the very least, it was understandable why the tanner sewn up his own nose. "Mhmm. My name is Tailor, and as that name implies, I help make clothing here in Iredale. My needlework is second to none here. Now, I know you have some God Hands for me, but please understand that it takes time for me to flay them and treat the skin... Not to mention that aside from their heads, shoulders, hands, and forearms, the rest of it is just human skin. Which of course I can fix up for you, but I... Understand that newcomers aren't quite willing to wear human hides."

The old make kept up his wry smile, but his eyes were kept closed. Perhaps it was just the way it is, or perhaps he was hiding something from Kenji. Obviously not the source of most of the leather in town; it was quite obvious that Tailor expected the hunters to come back with skins for him to work with. "There is, of course, the matter of pay. My materials don't simply appear out of nowhere. I need to go out and collect them myself, and well, I used to be a hunter like you... Mhmm, well, point is that while I can certainly treat your leather, skin your prey, I would need payment if you want your leather back. And of course you can always hire me to craft you something. Normally I only make clothes for the townsfolk, but I can work with some types of armor as well. They'll be sturdy yet light, perfect for a hunter such as yourself."

Hidden in some of the darker corners of the shop, there were a few dead bodies, stripped of their belongings and were not just naked corpses neatly lined up for skinning. In a barrel near them were weapons, and on a box, clothing. Previous hunters from some time ago. Just a quiet reminder of what happens to people who don't pay for Tailor's services. "Mhmm. Any questions?"

I'm going to stop expecting things. Kenji thought as the door opened and a man with no nose allowed him to step inside. It's always worse. No matter how I try to prepare myself, this place just keeps getting worse. Again he found himself thankful that everything he could have retched up had already been retched. Kenji turned his head to the side, towards the clean air outside the door, and tried his best to filter his breathing. He didn't even want to try breathing through his mouth, as he was sure the chemical smell would be strong enough to taste. When he thought he had enough air to make words with, he turned back to Tailor.

"Don't want to wear them. If you'll pay for them or trade or something, I'll drag the other four corpses over here. I just need a way to get by in this world."

He turned his head and took another breath.

"...Might not hurt, though, if you could...teach me how to skin them? It'll make bringing more easier." He turned a shade paler as he spoke, but he had to do this. He couldn't haul corpses around all the time. Pelts and hides, those would be much easier to handle without all the flesh and organs inside. It was going to be disgusting and he was probably going to pass out at some point if he kept pushing this threshold of insanity, but it had to be done.

Tailor shook his head solemnly, cracking open his eyes just a bit. "Mhmm... Not much to trade but more skins and leather. I need my tools, and even I must pay for goods and services... I suppose however, since you are young and strong, we can work out a deal." Tailor left Kenji alone for a moment before returning, holding a list of sorts. This paper, fortunately, seemed to have actually been made on regular animal parchment instead of someone's skin. "Here. A list of things I need for tanning. Easier than bringing back bodies. Be careful. Not all come from monsters, but that doesn't mean they are easy to find or safe to get."

When Kenji asked about being taught how to skin creatures, Tailor's eyes opened up. Kenji could see quite clearly that Tailor had no eyes. Not even fakes too keep his head from collapsing into his eye sockets. They were just somehow... Empty. Literally. He otherwise seemed quite happy. "An apprentice? Oh joyous days! It's been so long! Ah, but alas... Aside from the God Hand, I have nothing to teach you at the moment. Understand, I am more than willing to teach you the basics of skinning a creature. However, I'm not the best teacher, mhmm. I'm more of watch-and-learn type, you see, and right now well, we only have these and those." Tailor motioned towards the corpses lined up near the back. There wasn't a mark on them; no cuts, no scars. No visible cause of death. They may have not even struggled.

"If you wish, bring the other God Hands here, and I may begin to show you how to flay them so you an bring them to me. You may even bring the meat back the Butcher. A nice lady, if a bit gruff. Makes the best pie in Iredale, though not many make pies nowadays. Oh! How rude of me. I never got your name."
