HEROES.

The world loves a hero. They give hope to the hopeless and inspire us to look beyond ourselves. Modern myths and epitomes of epic proportions, the likes of the Avengers and the Justice League have protected the world for several decades. While legends have persisted since the dawn of time through oral traditions, hieroglyphics and storytelling, the so-called bronze age of heroes began at the height of the First World War when Colonel Steven Trevor was rescued by the Amazonian Warrior then dubbed 'Wonder Woman'. The silver age was ushered in by the Super Soldier Arms race that bore forth Captain America who was soon joined by others during the Second World War.

But the Golden Age of Heroes began when he arrived to Earth.

The world was irreversibly changed when it learned that a man could fly. Lois Lane's interview with the 'Superman' shattered any remaining doubt about the legitimacy of these so-called 'superhumans' and soon numerous others began to follow in the Man of Steel's wake. Alien invasions were repelled, megalomaniacs thwarted, teams of legends founded and soon the Justice League and the Avengers were household names.

Until one day, they vanished.

About a week ago, the world was briefly engulfed by a green glow, the source? No one is sure, and no one has taken credit but after that things began to change seemingly overnight. Mysteriously and without a trace, individuals such as the Batman of Gotham and the patriotic Captain America were suddenly no longer found. Calls for Superman went unanswered and burglars were free to carry on unhindered by notes from Queens' friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man. Heroes of note from across the globe were found to be missing in action and the trail was cold.

Then people seemingly began to forget, they were unbothered by the missing heroes, some of the greatest names to ever be known and they were gone, forgotten by the world at large. Their foes and rogues on the other hand were in rampant in number and now without a major adversary leading to a worldwide record crimewave. Seemingly unopposed they took advantage of the massive power vacuum.

But heroes inspire us, and so even in their absence, the world was not defenceless. In preparation for a day such as this, the heroes had taken others under their wings, trained them in their arts and inspired ones who could not forget and will not. Ones who carry on their mentors' memory and will stop at nothing to find out what happened to them.

This is a story of legacy, of those who were taken under the wings of their mentors and trained to carry on the cape and cowl.

This is ABSOLUTE COMICS: SCION.

S U M M A R Y:
S U M M A R Y:

In 1917, Colonel Steven Trevor was shot down over the Pacific Ocean, considered killed in action before his miraculous return accompanied by a woman claiming to be the princess of the Amazons. This WONDER WOMAN was the first superpowered being recorded in modern history and would go on to help turn the tide of the war, joined by fellow metahuman and gifted individuals such as the Atlantean warrior; NAMOR THE SUBMARINER, the super-speedster and the gadgeteer Dan Garrett, better known as the BLUE BEETLE. Along with Steve Trevor, this 'all-star squadron' became known as the DEFENDERS and would go on to inspire the first iteration of the JUSTICE SOCIETY OF AMERICA following the war's conclusion.

The Justice Society flourished during the following decade. While Namor returned home following the war, Wonder Woman stayed and travelled the globe in search of other individuals like herself, gathering the likes of HAWKMAN, HAWKGIRL, GREEN LANTERN and THE HUMAN TORCH. While Johnny Quick found himself a rival in the form of THE WHIZZER. Later editions still would go on to include the SANDMAN, STARMAN and WILDCAT.

Unknowingly, however, the presence of the Justice Society had unintentionally jumpstarted a super-soldier arms race. Dr. Abraham Erskine; a German biochemist and physicist who had spent much of his early life studying the human species had devised a way to create a 'Super Soldier Serum' but ultimately his research was misused resulting in the creation of the RED SKULL. Fleeing to America, Dr. Erskine came into custody and protection of the Strategic Scientific Reserve, or the S.S.R. who put the good doctor for 'Project Rebirth' which ultimately brought the world the paragon known as CAPTAIN AMERICA.

Following the Second World War, faith in heroes had become jaded, with many seeing them as government weapons. This was further solidified when the Justice Society was forcibly disbanded when the S.S.R. approached the heroes with an ultimatum; become government-sanctioned and registered heroes or be forcibly retired. One by one, the heroes disappeared back into the shadows, though some resisted and were publicly unmasked and jailed for trumped-up crimes. By the 1960s, masked heroes were considered a thing of the past, but gifted individuals were still rising.

Dubbed, the 'Children of the Atom', mutants were rapidly becoming more common among youth leading to Charles Xavier and his confidant, Erik Lehnsherr to found the XAVIER INSTITUTE FOR GIFTED YOUNGSTERS. The creation of this school would go on to give birth to the X-MEN while Erik would later turn his back on Charles, taking the name MAGNETO and forming his own BROTHERHOOD OF MUTANTS as the mutant scare continued to rise.

With this threat at home, the former S.S.R. was transformed into the Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division, or simply S.H.I.E.L.D. under the leadership of NICK FURY. Founded in the wake of the Allied victory over the Axis powers and HYDRA during the Second World War, S.H.I.E.L.D. is an American extra-governmental counter-terrorism and intelligence agency tasked with maintaining both national and global security. The division was organized to protect the United States from all possible threats including tracking not only the rising mutant threat but any form of metahuman that arose. Though even under the watchful eye of S.H.I.E.L.D. the world wasn't ready for the devastating meteor shower that nearly wiped out a portion of Kansas during the fall of 1989.

Hidden amongst this meteor shower was a small intergalactic spacecraft carrying the infant Kryptonian; Kal-El, who would be discovered by Jonathan and Martha Kent. The Kents raised the young boy as their own, but the world was forever changed the day the young Clark Kent revealed himself as SUPERMAN. Superman's appearance began a new age of heroes, while the red and blue blur reigned above the city of Metropolis, New York found itself a menace in the form of SPIDER-MAN while Gotham's corruption was preyed on by the BATMAN.

Absolute Comics: Scion is a guided sandbox style of roleplay in which players take on the role of a legacy comic book character to tell smaller-scale stories against the GM's large-scale narrative. The greater story, laid out below in the 'Summary', will be told through regular GM updates which push the narrative and lead into both season-wide plot threads and smaller wide-spread arcs. The goal of the GM plotlines is to encourage interaction between players and to allow the opportunities for players to play reactively opposed to always driving their own plotlines. However, players are heavily encouraged to also further their own stories and deal with the repercussions and loss of the circumstances the plot has found them in.

Sensation & Wonder is a collaborative linear sandbox roleplay that uses the ideas presented in Marvel and DC Comics' various media to create new and exciting stories using familiar elements and characters. To those of you asking exactly what a collaborative linear sandbox is, I define this style of game as a compilation of linear stories written by multiple groups of people that interact and mesh to great one persistent game within the same sandbox. If that's as clear as mud for you, let me try to clean it up.

Players will apply to the game using one of the provided character skeletons. Using these skeletons they'll choose a character and indicate whether they wish to be a 'Driving', 'Roaming' or 'Supporting' character. Driving characters are assertive players who wish to create plots and story arcs that no only they can write out, but also invite others to collaborate on and complete with. Roaming characters are for players who want to mingle with the greater game and write both solo and with as many other players as possible. Lastly, Supporting characters are for players who want to lock in on a specific plot being direct by someone else and write alongside them.

In-game history is decided on a first-come, first-serve basis. However, it should not be designed in a manner that locks out another player from taking on a favourite role. To give an example, if a player applies as Dick Grayson before an application has been received for Bruce Wayne, then the player applying as Grayson can decide to portray Dick as Robin, Nightwing or even Batman. No matter which of these roles the Grayson player chooses, it has an effect on a future Bruce Wayne player.

Due to the inclusive nature of the roleplay, a Bruce Wayne player would have to craft their CS to reflect a Bruce who allows for opportunities for a Grayson player or other notable members of the Bat-family. For instance, if the Grayson player chooses to be Nightwing, then the Bruce Wayne player will need to portray an older Batman. Even if a ‘Dick-Bats’ could block a player from playing Bruce Wayne as Batman, it shouldn’t necessarily block Bruce Wayne as a character. If so desired by both parties, a Batman Inc.-like scenario could even be worked out. It should also be noted that villains are just as viable of characters and applying for Captain America does not mean another player can't join as Red Skull.

It is important to remember that interaction, much like any role-play, is the bread and butter of the game. To that end, players are encouraged to work together to create a mutually desired outcome for all those involved. Classic teams ups such as Batman and Robin or Wolverine and Hawkeye are always welcome but don't forget, this is a One Universe Rp where the Devil of Hell's Kitchen can work alongside Gotham's Dark Knight.

S O U R C E M A T E R I A L:
S O U R C E M A T E R I A L:

As previously mentioned this roleplay allows players to draw upon characters from not only just the DC and Marvel Universes, but also other characters may be considered on a case-by-case basis if they fit the tone and feel of the game. Priority, however, will be given to characters who originate from within either DC or Marvel Comics and their subsidiaries.

Your character concept can be based on any iteration of the character. In terms of career, try to keep the greater goal of the game in mind, and characters with legacies ideally should be further along in their careers to allow for inclusivity of other players. That said, please don't let this lead you to believe origin stories have no place here. Origins can be told conventionally, with the assistance of other players or through flashbacks and other framing devices.

In regards to what any iteration of the character means for you as a player, is that this world's Spider-Man could currently be Miles Morales, Iron Man could be replaced by Iron Heart, Batman could be Terry McGinnis. This also means that some heroes might just be starting out, perhaps the Teen Titans were just formed? Maybe Scott Summers just found out he was a mutant? The changes and possibilities are near endless but are sure to create a unique world for us to tell our own takes on these 'modern myths'.

TBD

In the past, games have largely relied on the concept of parent characters however it has never fully thrived on this concept. While certain characters will be given priority to related supporting NPCs, players will be limited in order to leave room on the board for others.

For example, a Batman player may be limited to laying claim to Alfred, Jim Gordon and Dick Grayson. Outside of this, if someone else wanted to apply as Barbara Gordon, they would be free to do so on the condition their concept doesn't force a change from the original Batman player.

If desiring a supporting NPC from outside your character's 'franchise', players will be limited to one such named character with the stipulation of revisiting their claim pending player involvement and IC advancement.

Taking a page from UOU: Emergence, villains are, in addition to being playable, available at a first come first serve basis provided they are not an arch nemesis. Though if a player opts to forfeit their arch nemesis, they too become available.

The IC will be divided into Zones, will players upon applying specifying which Zone is their starting Zone. Each Zone will have its own unique plots and arcs, with some overarching plots bleeding into other Zones, if not all of them to bring those participating together in a 'Crisis' to solve.

Zones are intended to be loosely defined geographic regions. Initially envisioned to be a East Coast, West Coast and the Rest of the World situation, this may change pending player character placement.

Within each Zone, in addition to player driven activities, will be Crimes, Conspiracies and Crises. These are GM governed events of various lengths designed to direction and enforce interaction and collaboration between players.

Crimes - Short arcs, straightforward, easy to solve
Conspiracies - Longer, mystery-driven arcs, may lead to other crimes or Crises.
Crisis - Medium-length, highly collaborative events that are game-changing.

Priority
LOW:
MEDIUM:
HIGH:

As these games tend to draw recurring members of the community, we'll be enforcing a new rule that if you had previously participated in either Ultimate One Universe: Emergence or its predecessor, Absolute Comics Presents - What If?, you cannot reapply as any character you previously played. Should a week elapse after the RP starts and that character remains unclaimed, you will be able to apply for the desired character at that time.

This is in addition to a week's delay in the original application process to ensure that all interested parties have a fair shot at 'A-List' Characters.

A RE-IMAGINED DC UNIVERSE RP
G M (s): Lord Wraith C O N S U L T I N G G M: None G E N R E: Fandom T Y P E: Sandbox with linear and Collaborative Arcs

P R E M I S E:

After seeing a vision of a horrible future where the Earth was left defenceless without her heroes, precognitive LILITH CLAY sought out the help, finding it in the form of financier and philanthropist LOREN JUPITER. Jupiter, empathetic to Lilith and backed by a government grant, set about making plans to prevent the doomsday event from happening. His first order of business was to create a new group of heroes, heroes sponsored by the government that wouldn't have to worry about maintaining a dual identity but instead would be provided with room, board, education and training all under one roof.

Constructing a state-of-the-art facility in San Francisco, California, this facility is designed to operate as the public headquarters of a new privately funded superhero team, dubbed the 'Teen Titans'. Jupiter realized that the Justice League alone can't protect the world forever, and, in the same spirit that they succeeded the Justice Society before them, set out to build a new team of heroes.

Heroes with attitude.

With the help of Lilith, Jupiter and his program are specifically targeting young heroes to cultivate their growth and prepare them to replace their mentors. Not only this, but Jupiter's program would also assist and prepare the teens to be better adults, providing them with education and skills to fit into society while temporarily enabling them to forgo the need for and responsibilities of a dual life.

C O N C E P T:

Players will be taking on the roles of some of DC's most iconic characters. Any character who has been a member of the Teen Titans in canon is on the table, with of course the GM having the final say. Players are able, and encouraged, to take their character and reimagine, or 'ultimate-ize' their origins in a way that suits them and brings fun, fresh and new ideas to the table. The limitation however is that the character has to have been canon to DC and at one point a member of the Teen Titans. Completely original characters are not the intention of this roleplay.

The wider story will be shaped pending the accepted cast. For instance, the inclusion of Raven might lead to Trigon shaping the greater plot, while Starfire could lead to intergalactic adventures or clashes with cosmic foes such as Lobo. In terms of players, I'm looking to keep this small and closer to the most consistent team size of approximately five to six Titans which includes myself.

Given the smaller size, characters will be scrutinized more thoroughly to build a strong, diverse cast. Some overlap will be allowed, but the chances of both Dick Grayson and Tim Drake being accepted are slim to none. Likewise, if our Robin were to be Damian or Jason, then someone applying as Ravager would be in direct competition with that application. Ideally, the cast will complement one another, and have weakness and flaws to cover. Since this is a new iteration of well-known characters, dynamics, relationships and rivalries can all be reworked and unique to the RP. Raven and Beast Boy don't have to end up in a relationship for example. Just try not to make your characters so far from the original that they're unrecognizable looking at you 'Titans'.

Like I've done in the past, the application process will last for a stated duration of time. During that window, players will be able to put their best foot forward. Once the window elapses, I'll be selecting the determined number of characters from the submitted sheets. In the event, the number of players does not exceed the maximum open slots, but there are characters overlapping as described above, then one or more players may be asked to submit a new application.

If you're feeling particularly ambitious, you may submit a backup character sheet should you have a preference toward a second option character.

Why do you want to play this character, what is the driving motivation behind both this desire and the character themselves. What do you hope to accomplish and where do you want the character's story/stories to go? For a driving character, there should be enough of an outline present to interest other players along with specifications towards how many players you're looking to involve or available roles. For supporting characters, this should indicate either a plot you've arranged to be part of or the type of plot you're looking to be involved in. Roaming characters have the privilege of doing either or simply stating a roadmap for the character to exemplify how you'd ideally like them to move between plots.

Unlike metahumans, mutants had existed long before the world superhero became common jargon. James Howlett was one such mutant, born in the mid-1880s in Northern Alberta. A sickly child, this all changed when puberty brought forth the activation of his mutant gene. Bone claws grew within his arms, and his ailments disappeared as a healing factor overtook his body.

A man with a shadowy past, Logan has made numerous enemies throughout his long life, including the Yakuza Crime Lord Ogun. When a man named Carmen Pryde found himself in debt to Ogun, it cost him his daughter, Katherine, whom Ogun had manipulated and reprogrammed into an assassin of his own before eventually unleashing the 'Shadowcat' against the former Weapon X, Wolverine.

Kitty and Logan are a pretty natural pairing in the comics, but I always enjoyed the dynamic that X-Men Evolution presented between Kitty and Kurt. Building on that, Kurt and Logan at times have a fun dynamic, so I figured what better plot than to have this little dysfunctional father-daughter combo running around with a potential love interest.

They're loners who are on the run, they're not affiliated with the X-Men or any other established team. They know they're hated mutants, and they're being hunted. Logan is running from something in his past that has ties to Kitty as well, and Kurt gets pulled into it, eventually proving himself an invaluable ally to the pair. The boon of playing this trio is that they're still able to keep up with some of DC's and Marvel's heavier hitters, allowing the 'Exiles' to crossover into other plots and larger events.

I'm looking forward to playing some new characters while doing world-building in the mutant corner of the 'Verse. Ideally, expanding the world vision that these three currently see and taking them from mutants on the run to something larger than themselves.

Unlike metahumans, mutants had existed long before the world superheroes became common jargon. James Howlett was one such mutant, born in the mid-1880s in Northern Alberta. A sickly child, this all changed when puberty brought forth the activation of his mutant gene. Bone claws grew within his arms, and his ailments disappeared as a healing factor overtook his body.

-The man who would be known as the superhero named Wolverine was born as James Howlett in the mid 1880s in Alberta, Canada. He was the second and sickly child to Elizabeth and John Howlett Sr. His mother was ill and, in the early 1900s, a young Irish girl named Rose O'Hara was brought to the Howlett estate to be a friend and a caretaker to young James. Together they befriended a young boy named Dog, son of the grounds keeper, Thomas Logan. Dog tried to form a normal bond between the two, but due to his father’s resentment and drunken abuse, he grew to resent his station in life; so much so that one day he makes undue advances on Rose, which are reported by young James to his father. This whole chain of events leads to Thomas Logan being sacked from his position as groundskeeper, following which he goes seeking for Elizabeth Howlett, trying to convince her to leave with him. This leads to an altercation that results in the death of John Howlett. The shock of seeing his father murdered in front of him leads to the manifestation of young James’ powers and he stabs Thomas with his newly drawn claws, also slashing Dog across the face before fainting. He and Rose flee the house and make their way through the harsh Canadian wilderness with James near-catatonic and Rose having to facilitate their transportation, while Dog tells the police that Rose was the killer.

They arrive at a mine where Rose gives false names, calling James incorrectly as “Logan.” The other workers dub the revived Logan “the wolverine” because of his penchant for tenaciously digging and begin to accept him as one of their own due to his incredible work ethic. What they don’t know is that by night, he runs in the wild with a pack of wolves that he is cowed the alpha of. Dog arrives one day, having survived his encounter years ago, still holding a massive grudge against Logan. Logan recognizes his erstwhile friend and accepts his challenge to a brawl to the death. Before Logan can kill Dog, however, Rose tries to pull him away and is inadvertently stabbed through the chest, killing her and leaving Logan to mourn alone.

-In 1910, Logan traveled to another frontier community in the Canadian Rockies and met a young Blackfoot woman named Silver Fox, with whom he falls in love. She reciprocates, and the two share a cabin together in the woods and live happily for a time. In late May, when Logan believed his birthday to be, Sabretooth tracks and murders Silver Fox after seeing her and Wolverine together, envious that Logan had found a measure of peace. Upon discovering the gruesome scene, Wolverine flew into a rage and battles Sabretooth, but couldn’t best his counterpart, who was able to keep his cool.

Sabretooth and a mysterious cloaked figure then manipulated the feral, mindless Logan to slaughter the inhabitants of the town he had been living in at the time.

Later, employed by The Hudson's Bay Company as a fur trader to the Blackfoot Indians, he defeated the demonic snake-worm known as Uncegila, a feat which earned him the Blackfoot warrior name of "Skunk-Bear." A broad, largely unseen conspiracy then began to shape Logan, robbed of his conscience and free will, into the perfect killer. Wherever Logan went, Sabretooth or one of his handlers, was not far behind.

-In 1914, Logan joined the Canadian Army to fight during The Great War. During a battle in Belgium on April 22, 1915, Logan encountered Lazaer (anagram of Azrael, the Angel of Death) for the first time and a fight ensued. Lazaer got the upper hand and impaled Wolverine with his sword, but Logan pulled the sword from his body, and impaled Lazaer to defeat him. Since then, every time Logan has had a near death experience, he has had to battle Lazaer so that he is able to return back to the realm of the living and use his advanced healing factor to return to health.

When the authorities became aware of Logan's abilities, he was assigned to a special unit of the Canadian military, The Devil's Brigade, tasked with the most suicidal missions in the war under the command of the super-humanly strong Silas Burr (who later became the mercenary Cyber). After a falling out, Cyber murdered Logan's girlfriend and during the confrontation Logan was severely beaten and one of his eyes was removed, but he was able to escape. Cyber and Sabretooth tracked him at the bidding of Romulus and returned him to the squad where he was assigned to Madripoor.

-After a stint in the small nation, Logan traveled to China where he turned down an offer from the warlord Ogun to instruct him in the Art of War. But Logan was a man ever on the move, this time finding himself in South America where he ran across Mystique for the first time. The two of them were going to be executed by firing squad, but escaped using their abilities and formed a small criminal syndicate. Wolverine and Mystique became romantically involved, but the relationship was short lived as Logan reported on their criminal doings to the police, thus sending the syndicate to prison and returning to Canada to take part in the Weapon X program.

-During World War II, Logan teamed up with Captain America and Bucky Barnes in Madripoor. The two were unaware of his mutation, believing him to merely be extraordinarily lucky, and dubbed him “Lucky James.” One of their first significant missions was to rescue Natasha Romanova, a young child at the time, from being brainwashed into an assassin by The Hand. Baron Wolfgang Von Strucker was also implicated, causing Cap and Bucky’s attention to shift to the fascist HYDRA organization. During this time, Seraph, guardian of Madripoor and another ex-lover of Wolverine, was killed by Sabretooth, presumably under the orders of a strange entity called Romulus. But who he was would not be revealed until years later. Logan decided to officially get involved in the war and enlisted in the Armed Forces, joining the First Canadian Parachute Battalion. It was with this battalion that he first encountered Bloodscream, an immortal being with vampire-like qualities and powers. He fought in various missions, already soon making a name for himself as one of the best soldiers in the division. He ended his stint living in Japan and possibly training as a samurai.

-After WWII, Logan returned to Japan, having remembered Ogun's offer to train him. Logan would soon develop a deep love of Japan, particularly samurai culture and code of Bushido, that would stand the test of time. His training complete, he journeyed across the nation until he met the beautiful Itsu, with whom he started a family. But Logan’s destiny was never one of peace, and after he accidentally killed a man during a disaster, he returned home to find Itsu dead and the child they conceived stolen by Romulus. Logan had nothing left in Japan and returned to Canada to once again join with Weapon X. It was then that he gained his trademark adamantium skeleton, but also lost his memory due to the trauma of the experiment before joining Alpha Flight and taking on the Hulk for the first time.

-After his military duty and his return from Japan and his training there, Logan applied for the job of Special Agent for an American underground government organization. With extreme coincidence, Logan's mortal enemy Sabretooth turned out to have applied for the same 'job'. A fight erupted in the offices of the organization, but both were subdued. At this time it turned out, it was not just a normal organization where the two had come to. They were both given a memory wipe and had false memories implanted. All except for Logan's time in Japan was a complete mystery to him, and Logan had no recollection of his former feud with Sabretooth. He fought on various missions together with teammates Maverick and John Wraith. It was during one of these missions that Logan first met and fought Omega Red.

False memories were given to Logan and his teammates after most missions, so they would not, or only partly remember what they had done or what their objective had been. After some time, Sabretooth's brutal ways became an eyesore to the other team members and it was not before long that the team had an internal conflict, resulting in a breakup of the team and Sabretooth leaving. Logan's missions for Team X seemed done, but his long road of suffering would just be at the beginning.

-After all of Logan's missions with Team X, a few heads turned with interest to Logan. During some point in his career as a special operative, Logan was kidnapped by agents of the Weapon X (or Plus) Program, a joint U.S./Canadian program. He was taken to a facility in the Canadian woods where he was examined by Professor Thorton, Dr. Abraham Cornelius, and Carol Hines. The Professor learned that Logan possessed a mutant healing factor and would be able to sustain the installation of Adamantium onto his bones, as the procedure would kill any other person. In this, they attempted to build the perfect living weapon.

The procedure was performed, and Logan now had a skeleton completely laced with the hard metal. This included his claws, which were now razor sharp claws that could cut through anything. During his time with Weapon X, Logan was heavily sedated and controlled through a helmet, giving him false memories and turned him into sort of a puppet for the Program. He was even forced to kill an entire town, wanting to test if Logan would do any assignment. His abilities were put to the test. Eventually, Logan was able to resist the mind-control and broke free from the facility (with help from the Winter Soldier). Enraged and more beast then man, he killed nearly anyone who stood in his way. That is except for Professor Cornelius, Hines, and Malcolm Colcord. These persons would all spell more trouble for Logan while the years went by.

Long before the Age of Man began, the Nine Realms were in turmoil, ripped apart by the war between the Æsir and the Vanir. The Vanir had allied themselves with the Jötnar and were exhausting the forces of the Æsir and Asgard until Odin arrived with new reinforcements. Riding alongside the Alföðr, were a unique group of Shieldmaidens, handpicked and trained by Odin himself. Dubbed the Valkyrie, they changed the war's course and spread peace through the nine realms.

Thor, Odin's son, however, was jealous of Odin's preferential treatment of the Valkyrie. Believing himself to be Asgard's best warrior, Thor began to act out and tried to have Shieldmaidens, chiefly their leader Brynhild, put out of his way. His actions ultimately led to the death of Sigurðr leading to banishment for both Thor and the Valkyrie.

But Odin took pity on his Shieldmaidens and granted Brynhild and the Valkyrie a home in Midgard while retaining their might and prowess. This home was the island of Paradis hidden in the far North of the Atlantic Ocean. Under the care of the Valkyrie, Paradis became a unitary sovereign city-state and archipelagic island nation, hidden from the world by Æsir magic which cloaked its cliffs, fjords and glacial valleys behind an impenetrable wall of frost.

Or so, it was believed until a plane managed to pierce the veil at the height of the Second World War.

The pilot survived the crash, asking for help from the Shieldmaidens, one such Shieldmaiden could not ignore the call of war and with the blessing of her Queen, the one called Diana, emerged to the world and became known as Wonder Woman. Wonder Woman would go on to become one of Earth's greatest heroes and peacekeepers, becoming a founding member of the Justice League and inspiring another generation of heroes.

Eager to follow in her footsteps, was none other than Diana's adoptive sister, Troia. One of the fiercest warriors amongst the Valkyrie, Troia trained every day to compete with Diana in hopes of one day holding the title of Wonder Woman. For years, it felt like that day would never come until Diana went missing. Begging Brynhild to send her to the land of Man, her Queenmother relented and Donna was adorned in Mirthril armour and equipped with weapons forged of the strongest Blodstál.

I've always enjoyed mythology and Wonder Woman and her affiliated characters offer an opportunity to tie into that world. In previous RPs, I've also had a lot of fun RPing as Thor, so I figured I'd try and take a page from Absolute Wonder Woman, rewrite the origins and tie them to Norse Mythology and the Valkyrie. This version of Donna is a bit different and takes some story notes from the original Cassie Sandsmark with the mysterious paternity aspect while still playing much closer to Donna Troy. Ideally I'm looking to explore story notes with a villainous Thor, Troia taking on the identity of Donna Troy, becoming not only a teammate but a leader, as she learns to rely on others and of course finding both Diana and the identity of her father.
