I'm starting to feel like I'm in the minority in that most of my population is uneducated...

The Dominion also doesn't bother much with education, looking only to their faith and the lands. Only the higher castes get learning of any kind.
HazmatMedic said Random events can be bad things - barbarians attack, bad harvest, floods, things like that - but they can also be good things - rare ores uncovered, bountiful harvest, the capture of a highly wanted criminal - and they test a leader's ability to control the country. But, as always, I am open to suggestions and ideas.I'll edit the list now. Anyone in the list can post IC whenever they want.

I am not open to Random Events at all, as that takes away significant story elements that normally the players are in control of. More often than not, these events are used very poorly by the GM to make what they call "Story potential" with other players that usually ends up with one person being at a significant disadvantage to the other nation.

Why do you guys keep having arguments, me and the others are getting sick of you guys fighting like kids.

Notice, that I'm not the one to provoke these arguments, and I've already made this point known to both Hazmat and Grave.
Looking for who would be interested in a fantasy NRP scaled around the Colonial Era/Edo Period. Note that is the general cultural advancement, and things like gunpowder weapons have not caught up to this level. There will be more information on the setting as more people show their interest.

The biggest thing here is the World, and where we as the players influence it through the nations we control and live within. In the beginning, there will only be a few Realms available, each varied to appeal to different people, and able to hold multiple nations to a degree without too much overlap. These Realms will be where our story takes place, and much of it will be very open to player development in regards to how their home nation's lands are arrayed. As this is a fantasy universe, there will be elements of magic and myth, with many creatures roaming about the landscape that will be causing just as much havoc as the opposing nations.

Tech level is to be universally around the medieval/renaissance eras, with some leeway allowed for certain factions if their tech is seen as not too disruptive, or RGMs/GMs allow it. Moving away from WAts will be the concept of Elder Races, in that while there will be a difference between an Elder Race and a standard nation, this line will not be so clear as the differences between Precursor Nations and standard nations from WAts. As a general rule, Elder Races will be more proficient and learned in the ways of magic, and some may have access to magical artifacts that standard nations would not have, but by and large, if a standard nation was to war with an Elder Race, the Elder Race does not have a clear and obvious advantage as they would in WAtS.

Moving away from the way other NRPs set up control of regions will also be the Influence System, a system that I'm developing that will determine what kind of influence an individual nation/character has over a Realm, and just how much. Certain types of influence lead to certain types of control, allowing for a nation to have control over an area through means other than military, something that wouldn't happen otherwise.

Also, just as a footnote here, don't be discouraged if someone has "claimed" a race of beings in the RP, as there is the possibility of other nations being accepted comprised of that species. This is being done to allow greater flexibility in terms of cultivating ideas for nations, and in a fantasy setting is somewhat necessary due to the limited number of generic species.

Quit trying to start an argument. Random events have been used effectively plenty of times as long is there is a system in place for them. It keeps the thread alive by giving everyone something to react to.

>Accuses me of trying to start an argument
>Has been starting arguments the entire OOC

Go back to your hole, you silly little hypocrite you. Random events are terrible, and always have been, and it's not just me who believes this.

Randomly...I don't quite understand the question.

No, random events are always poorly handled and never work out correctly.

How will random events be chosen?

Wait... What? Since when were there random events?

We are rather big on culture. It is something the Seculcians pride themselves on. Perhaps we could RP out one such visit?

This would be excellent, I am down for that.
This RP is awesome, like, seriously. The more people the better.

Breaking news: Biomechanics and physics work the same for tyrannosaurs, elephants, blue whales, humans and fantasy giants attempting to be realistic. By all means the OOC is the place so anyone else considering giants can know the practical ramifications.

Breaking news: It's not my species, therefore I don't know everything about it. Take it up with Raptor if you really have the desire to start an argument over something so trivial. I've told you what I know about them, in that they have differing muscle mass and bone densities, therefore they are stronger than humans and still as agile.
