God, are you there? It's me, again.
I used to be active on these forums quite some time ago, and before then used to roleplay on the old
Fanfiction.net servers. Time passes,
Fanfiction.net has been usurped by Ao3, etc etc. While it has been some time since I've done post-by-post roleplay, I'm still a prolific reader and have done tabletop roleplay (TTRPG) over the years - Mork Borg is my favorite system. My friends are just having kids now and I'm in my late 20s.
Some things I've read recently and really enjoyed:
- **Big Time** by Jordan Prosser - this is basically a psychedelic dystopian Australian scifi novel focusing on a band that uses a new psychedelic to perceive snippets of the future. The ending was slightly a letdown compared to the entire novel but I love Australian scifi/dystopian novels? Maybe something about being on a huge desert island (not deserted) just makes for the best novels in this genre
- **Rejection** by Tony Tulathimutte - this is the 'online' novel, a series of short stories chained together by common characters. Everyone in these short stories sucks in some way, but if you're fascinated by the dissection of people who are terminally online and hyperspecific online subcultures and personas, this is for you. One of the short stories is effectively an AITA-style Reddit post, the stories parody themselves.
- **The Safekeep** by Yael van der Wouden - this is a steamy sapphic novel about an autistic Dutch woman, post-WW2, and her experience with her brother's mysterious girlfriend.
- I am currently reading **Endling** by Maria Reva - take a suicidal asexual malacologist who is also in a Ukrainian mail-order bride service and then add more chaos, this is a great book so far. I'm a hobbyist naturalist and enjoying all of the snail commentary.
My writing in the context of PBP:
- I like to write anywhere from 2-5 paragraphs
- Not great at writing dialogue
- Enjoy original concept stuff and worldbuilding with motivated and thoughtful writers
Okay, see ya soon.
