Current you know, my SO never forces me to say a thing that's on my mind and doesn't mind if I don't always explain myself which makes it way easier to actually tell them stuff. boundaries good.

as much as I'd love to pre-plan RPs, I've also noticed that's the fast track to killing them. A little planning and a rough gist is fine, but anything beyond that and people don't wanna write no more.

@Ammokkx Eh, I like to. It helps separate dialogue from the rest of everything when you're tired.

I've strayed away from using them (except in on-going RPs where it would be jarring if I suddenly stopped doing so) and don't use them unless everyone else does. Real books don't use colors either, so I use writing tricks to easily distinguish my dialogue in another way (keeping it at the end or start of a paragraph, or dedicating an entire line just to a single piece of dialogue.)
...Since everyone is color coding, I guess I'll use one myself.
@AmmokkxJust an FYI Jun isn't with at the moment just Yasumi. I kept Jun out in case we needed to do something.@vietmyke Hope your hangover goes away.

Already edited it out.
Finally, classes were done.

Rio hated the first day of school, as it always ends up being nothing but wasted time. You hardly get anything done. Still, it was a necessary evil for some, and not all was bad about it. At least, not at Ace. She was staring up at a list of teams that needed members, as she wasn't part of one currently. Much to her dismay, though, most teams were either full on members or had already rejected her in the past, leaving her with only one option: Celestial Star. The team leader who was written next to the name left nothing but a foul taste in Rio's mouth. She pretty much needed to be in a team, though, for fear of becoming a laughing stock like last year. Like hell she'd let that happen.

The woman casually walked through the hallways, avoiding eye contact with most students. They're all equally unimportant to her. A bunch of faceless individuals who'd either fade into nothing or prove themselves to be worth remembering. Sadly, not a lot of people managed to succeed in that second option. Sure, they'll be remembered by the other faceless for as soon as they live, but after that you fade into obscurity. No legacy, no nothing.

The door to the lounge slid open and Rio's ears was immediately assaulted by the loud cheers of the drunkards watching TV, cheering on their favorite teams. She tried her best to ignore all the ruckus and looked around to find Bill Atlas' little corner. She first saw him with Laudat, the infamously lazy student. She didn't want to believe he signed up there and kept looking. Much to Rio's chagrin, it turned out to be the case after all. Even worse, there was already another pilot behind the desk, meaning even these applications were going by fast. The proud girl had to humble up a bit and swallow some of that pride, casually walking over to Bill's desk.

"Atlas," she greeted. Rio cast a brief glance of disgust over to Laudat and scanned Yasumi. He didn't look impressive. If she was going to be stuck with this lot of rubbish - excluding Bill of course - then she'll have to fear for the stability of the team. Still, better to have a team that underperforms compared to no team at all...

"I'm here to sign up. Rio Hamasaki, pilot of Union. Assault and Support. We've... fought once already." Rio explained. She was tempted to chew on the insides of her cheek in frustration of that humiliating loss, but managed to settle for only breaking eye contact. She pretended to look over in the direction of the TV, feigning some interest in the match.
@vancexentan Hm. Quick immersion question. Since this is set in Japan, do you want characters to be on last-name basis like over there or are we keeping it to first-name like over in the west?
@AmmokkxSure just to keep in mind that Masurao wasn't in Bills possession last year it's basically a whole new gear to him.

I'm aware. Would make even more sense for her to lose, anyway, since Bill was using a gear and combat style he was very much familiar with.
If you want to have had him beat her, or have fought her last year that's fine with me. @Ammokkx

Yeah, pretty much what I was thinking. Would make sense with how I'm portraying her. Could create a nice character dynamic.

Might just add that in the bio (fought and got beaten), if you don't mind...?
Figure Rio would have a shallow and professional relationship with Bill - maybe even a bit of an antagonistic one due to getting her ass kicked year one - but I don't know much for Ian. I'm up for ideas, though.
So is the infiltration squad going to be an amazon brigade or-

(also nice going me, posting this in the IC accidentally...)
The rest of the week had breezed by for Serah. She was positively elated ever since that trip with Jason, though it hadn't gotten in the way of her duties as a pilot. She was a bit nervous when the big day arrived, the day when the rescue mission was going to happen. She wanted to see Elora back, but having to go against those things again left a bad taste in her mouth. Still, the team had assembled a plan. One squad to enter the base, the other to fight and hold them off outside...

Devors, on the other hand, didn't have a care in the world. He had just opened his second bottle of whatever alcoholic beverage he was holding, one that's more than likely outlawed in most colonies. His feet were on the dashboard and he watched the numbers and lights flash by on his screens like it were some kind of game.

When the jump happened, Devors landed somewhere on the other end of his cockpit while Serah was sitting pretty. Devors groggily got up, wet from the liquid covering him and tried to situate himself in space.

"Ah, right, uh, 'sup Elise? Whazzat you need me to do again? Like, uh, orders?" Devors asked over the comms. He flew Ranius up into the front lines, spinning circles in the air to keep him afloat and not immediately crash to his death.

Serah, meanwhile, kept a tight grip on her controls. The cold isolation of space took her back, way back, to when that cruiser was attacked. She never had gotten over the trauma. With shaky breath, Serah opened up her communications.

"AA-XOTRY on standby. Following Caretaker as planned."

Serah chased after Katya, not completely into the right mindset quite yet. Even though distractions were deadly on the battlefield, the girl was stuck inside her memories. Memories of her orphanage... and a certain boy. She couldn't help but smile when she remembered that boy. It's what could keep her going, knowing she's fighting for his sake. Fighting to make him live a peaceful life. She was sure of it... sure that she could make him happy that way. Serah then thought of another certain boy. One much closer to her now. Almost without thinking, she opened up a private text channel with encryption.

"See you on the other side. Stay safe, and go get 'em for me alright~? <3"

She sent the message to Ribasu and felt a wave of relief wash over her. She could now focus again, free of distractions.
