"Oh! You know where it is, then? The one just a little into town, right?" Shizuku eagerly questioned. "It's a promise, okay? I have some club activities after school, so I can't come straight away... but I promise you won't have to wait long!"

Shizuku didn't want to bother the other girl much longer, so she gave her a little wave before walking back into school. As she put some distance between the two of them, Shizuku looked down at her wrist. The bell was still hanging there, but it was silent unlike before. It's clear that it was reacting to the gold-haired kouhai from earlier, so its silence was strange. Shizuku pulled Cross out again. "Cross?" she whispered.

"It doesn't react if you know they're an architect," he flatly answered, "because it means you two can find each-other again."

Shizuku giggled to herself, replying with "I suppose that makes sense!" in a hushed tone. Her J-Ruler looked uneasy, however.

"You two are enemies, you know." he said, not looking Shizuku in the eyes. "And even if she wasn't... there's something off about her. Don't be so trusting of people," Cross warned his architect.

"Off? I'm sure she's a nice girl..."

"... Just be careful, Shizuku."

The final classes of the day ended and students began to tend to their business. Some went straight home, while others stayed behind to chat or do club activities. The sun was shining bright outside when Fujiko exited the building. It was nice, clear weather with a mild breeze to it. The day had a pleasant and warm feeling to it, which has a calming effect on anyone who didn't mind that kind of thing. She'd briefly follow the same route as a few other students coincidentally going in the same direction, but they were in their own group separate from her. When the group of students split from Fujiko, an eerie feeling hung in the air.

Somehow, despite other people on the streets, Fujiko felt alone. Something about the air was different. She felt some small vibrations from underneath her shirt, accompanied by a subtle chime. It seems she wasn't alone in it. The aura of the J-Ruler on her person began to call out to her, to call her to the tower. Someone had challenged Fujiko while she was on the way to the card shop. The breeze now felt chilling, that chill carrying the unmistakable feeling of someone's bloodlust.

Up until now, Fujiko had been able to ignore the chimes of her bell. This time, someone wanted to battle. Maybe... maybe it was that girl from earlier, taking advantage of Fujiko's naivete to stalk and challenge her. Even if she tried to run, Fujiko had a feeling her prospective opponent wasn't keen on letting go.

Oh, also, I'm not Charak but I think it'd be a good idea if some of the characters knew each-other in some way from before the RP starts. Not everyone, of course, but it'd be a good thing to have maybe an established group of "friends" as that makes it easier to form a party around. It also ties in with how DeSu actually does things, because almost every character has some knowledge of each-other in some way. To map it out:

DeSu1 has Yuzu knowing Gin, Gin knowing Haru, and Haru knowing Yuzu. Yuzu is connected to the MC and Atsuro, who are both connected to Naoya. Atsuro is also connected to Keisuke, and the both of them know Midori. Kaido and Mari know each-other.

DeSu2 has the MC and Daichi start off as friends while Io is their classmate. JP's, obviously, has all the staff knowing each-other (Yamato, Makoto, Otome, Fumi). Ronaldo also knows Yamato. Keita is associated with JP's before you meet him, as are Airi and Jungo. Then outliers are Joe, who mistakes the MC for a guy he saw around once, and Hinako who's completely detached from everyone. As an aside, Ronaldo is also sort of connected to Airi but neither of them know it.

Kaito is a well-spoken and well-mannered young man. He's polite, sociable and eager to learn about others, but without his boyfriend around he lacks self-confidence. He's also a worrier, constantly concerned about the wellbeing of his friends and family. It's both due to being caring, as well as being much too attached to those around him. Kaito doesn't want to let go of the people he trusts, which manifests into being clingy. He's also very goal-oriented; once Kaito sets his mind on something, he'll want to see it through to the bitter end.

History:
Kaito loved dressing up in his older sister's clothes growing up, putting them on in secret to admire himself in a mirror. His sister actually caught him a few times, but she kept it hidden from their parents. She found him adorable when he was dressed up like a girl, so she was the one who taught him all about how to look pretty. It actually lead to a pretty big fight with their parents years down the line, once he decided to tell them. Because they took it so poorly, Kaito got discouraged from ever trying to go out in public while dressed up. His sister tried to encourage him, but to Kaito it just felt like she was the only one in the world that thought that way.

That is, until Kaito met his boyfriend in highschool. A lot of things happened between the two of them, some stories too embarrassing for either of them to ever share. They got along super well straight away, and by the end of their first year Kaito realised he had feelings for his classmate. Turns out that was mutual, as the other boy confessed first, but even as Kaito accepted his feelings, he felt ashamed for falling in love with another man. Still, after school they often promised to hang out in secret from their parents. One day, Kaito invited his boyfriend over to their house, under the pretense of studying. His actual objective was to dress up, show off a side he himself thought weird. When he got called cute for it, his heart fluttered. Because of his boyfriend, Kaito slowly built up confidence in himself again. He didn't need his parents approval anymore. The two of them decided to go to Tokyo for a date, and while Kaito had slowly tried getting used to going out dressed like he is by going to less crowded places, today was the first time he did so in Japan's metropolis. Tokyo was reasonably far from where they lived, so the both of them booked rooms in a hotel so they could spend the whole next day together. Of course, those plans would have to be put on the backburner...

Perhaps, I'm mistaken. But from the looks of it, neither of you actually disagree. The topic at hand was about forum roleplaying specifically. So when someone says "as a whole", they're more than likely describing 'the forum medium as a whole' versus one particular site. Otherwise, I don't know why "and the interest will expand/grow elsewhere" would be included. If it was meant to be a universal sentiment on the decline of roleplaying.

I'm very indecisive about this one. On one end, I'm not a fan of overly dark stuff (not because I can't handle it, but because it's often poorly handled) as well as backstory being the most boring part of a character, to me. On the other end, the concept is really strong and aligns with my interests.

Is forum Roleplaying beginning to slow down?

Beyond a doubt, having been in forum roleplaying and roleplaying of some variety for decades, the medium has slowed down increasingly. While I too agree with the sentiment it will never truly die, it will likely never be as populous and widespread as it once was or even nearly as intense as it had been. It is more than just say, the issues of community or other, and rather it is just an overall trend. People have become more flighty, less committed, less active, and that is not just here in the medium but as a whole. A lot of tremendous work goes to waste as a result, as does massive opportunity such as the nature of so many being at home with virtually endless time to be creative and productive with their own visions and ideas, but that is the nature of the beast.

No, the reason forum RPing is slowing down has nothing to do with the crowd. It has to do with the evolving nature of our communication medium, and the rapid expanse of the internet. Forums were once the primo way to communicate with others. Now you have blogging sites, Reddit, fuck, people even RP in facebook comments. People aren't RPing any less than before, they're just doing it in other places and in other ways.

And for this notion that people have somehow become more flighty, lazy, and non-committal... have you ever roleplayed with anyone? I got ghosted on Roblox when I was 8, dropped like a brick on Tumblr when I was 13-14, RPs died left and right on TVtropes right before I came to this site, and over here? Here's one of my first roleplays on RPG. This is on-par with the level of a dead RP created two months ago.
