while tru, quantity != quality, the fact is there's enough good writers out there with diverse enough interests to fit most niches apart from the unrealistically specific i.e. kitten beheading RP

About me:
Where do I begin. I'm from Belarus, and fairly proud of it. I've been RPing about a decade starting mostly with chat stuff and some LARPs/reenactments, doing the stuff of this site for maybe half a decade now. I'm a former serviceman, and while I was conscripted I make sure to stay in related circles. As a day job I'm a programmer letting me usually work from home even when we don't have coronavirus forcing us to do so and thus I got a lot of time for RP.

@Andreyich Well yes, but I mean if it's large even by human standards. It would be claymore-esque to a human. So for a dwarf to use it, it would be very unwieldy. Even with Dwarven strength. If it's half a guard and so large, he'd have trouble with his short stature... Shield balances it out? I'm just confused on how fighting would work.

And sorry for grilling. But it'll help me DM. EDIT: It's also not like any weapon, I've heard of so I'm being nosy.


I classified it as a longsword; which are not always two handed. The are literally long swords, but just to give an idea it would be about 80-85cm in blade length, about 5-10 cm longer than your average sword; he needs the extra cm since his arms are shorter than human/elven arms by about the same length.

If it's half a guard and so large, he'd have trouble with his short stature...


I'm not entirely getting this. It has half a guard to not interfered with the shield. If he has a thrust, then the side of the Guard facing the shield can get stuck on the shield, making it annoying to use. However, with a guard only on one side of the blade, it will not get snagged on the shield. Think of the guard like orcrist from the movies. Usually half a guard is a straight downgrade from a full guard, however when you have a large shield that a full guard can get caught on removing it can help.

I get you, I just feel like it is so had to communicate sometimes :/

It's just very long, since a Dwarf has a short reach.

It only has half of the guard, since due to having a really big shield part of the guard (the part facing the shield) can get get stuck on the shield if he tries an attack. Thus, only half of the crossguard is there, to stop it messing with his strikes.

to visualize, the part I scribbled on with black is not there, for this particular sword.
