Lucy was more than a little displeased with the actions of Maria. The woman had quickly disenfranchised her business prospects with just a few quick words. She'd been showing that small group of sailors some leg when the captain had just waltzed in like some sort of dominus into his vestibulum and sent the slaves a scattering with but a word. She'd been listening to the conversations and had been rather surprised to hear that Mara's crew were not actual pirates. This could prove of interest to some of the pirate captains. Maybe they'd pay well for the privilege of learning about a ship ready for the plundering.

The red headed whore considered what had been discussed, dwelling upon how she might use the information she had to best advantage. She dragged her index finger across the bottom of her lip, dragging the ruby stained flesh to one side. Her green eyes glittered with possibilities.

Come to think of it, she had to remember though that her ship, the Phoenix they had called it, was currently being unloaded. That meant it wouldn't be carrying any cargo of worth until it next hit port. No, what she needed to learn was where the Phoenix was headed next. Then she could sell that information to a real pirate and that pirate could catch the Phoenix as it shipped from that port, fully laden, for its next destination. Yes, that would be worth a pretty penny. Yes, it would, particularly if she included that the captain of this vessel was of considerable beauty and a prize in and of itself.
The shadowed recesses of the cargo hold was becoming difficult to hold. Another group had successfully cut into the interior of the starship and had begun climbing inside. Arla had kept the first point of entry clear by alternating randomly between using her blaster and attacking with the spear she'd discovered. The second she'd defeated mainly by causing a large cargo crate to fall across the area they were cutting. Soon enough and a fourth group would finish cutting as well leaving her with three sets of invaders. She had no doubts how that was going to turn out.

Crawling over cargo containers and carefully stepping on the bars of the various cages Arla moved throughout the bay. Now that there were others moving about she had to be more careful. Sliding down between a pair of containers and out into one of the cramped corridors between them she saw one mercenary wearing brown leathers and a strange metal helmet that had something looking like a comb for a chin was moving towards her right, peering cautiously around some boxes. To her left another one, a woman with dark skin and curled oily hair was also looking. Pulling out blaster carbine she had attached to her belt she casually fired two blasts down the corridor towards the female and then disappeared back the way she came. The woman turned and unable to clearly make out the man with the helmet assumed it was him that had fired. Arla moved away, letting the two shoot at each other. She didn't care which won the fight, just needed a distraction to move out of the area they were fencing her into.

Moving stealthily she was considering what next to do when a fierce growl erupted behind her and a massive form slammed into the bars of its cage. Arla almost screamed, the hand with her rifle pressed against her bare bosom as she struggled to recapture her breath. Only an arm's length away a fierce creature snarled at her through tusks as large as her head. It possessed mottled brown fur, a maw that could swallow her whole and had four arms, a second set of smaller appendages below the might sinews of the upper arms. She didn't know what to call it but it was definitely a predator.

"You want out don't you?" she asked the thing, not expecting an answer.

It must have been a creature captured as a gift for Teemo the Hutt, yet another creature for his menagerie. Arla clambored up atop the cage and carefully used her pike to unlock the cage and set the beast loose before disappearing. After all, she suspected it wasn't particularly picky on who it stalked.
The question was answered. There is purpose, though not yet revealed. Besides it was enjoyable for the participants and as you have decried recently, is it not the "fun" that is most important?
Simply because storylines are not beholden to linearity and, therefore, not all scenes in a story must follow the same timeframe.
The one bad thing is... we don't have any protagonists. Sure, we have Kevin, but no offense to the little guy, he's a support person. There's no protagonist that can handle a gun or anything physical.
Yes "that" is what we were waiting for, despite my asking for it several times.
Huzzah! Finally! Technically one could start their post with "later that week" though I.d check with the GM before going that far.
Maybe some people don't like walking through the woods :)
-Someone screwed over by Blume and wants to bring down ctOS. Maybe an anti Aiden whose family was somehow hurt.
-A fixer working for a company rivalling Blume trying to curb the expansion while it readies its own product
-a Templar searching for a piece of Eden by kidnapping specific people for his animus and searching the ctOS. Someone has it... and he or she wants it
-A bank job. Maybe this villain is trying to learn the system, profile key employees and figure out where the money is stored. There's hacking an arm. .. then there's hacking the bank server! In the process he or she causes some havoc.

Having some form of boarding craft, and probably starfighters to accompany them, sounds like a good idea. Otherwise they'll be little in the way of personal combat.

Though, I don't really see a point to swords when a burst from a hand pistol would be faster and more deadly. Maybe a long knife or short sword at most but not a sword. At least, not unless you include some sort of "magical shielding". Maybe they can take a burst or two before going down for a brief recharge cycle. This would allow those with melee weapons get close but not just waltz all willy nilly across the battlefield. It might even make bows useful, as rune carved arrows piercing through the magical shields in a way that mere bullets couldn't.
