That does make sense. I miss the X-Wing vs. Tie Fighter series. That was good. You could coast on inertia, turn ninety degrees and unload your blasters into the side of a ship. Something I've never seen them do in the movies.

At this point, as you almost suggested earlier, I figure you might as well run the entire thing using Battlestar Galactica as a model. I love Macross for that respect. Fighters that fly towards capitol ships, land on their hulls, taking out surface systems like sensors, turrets and the like while using the only cover there is in space, that of the very ship they were attacking, as cover.
Ah! You haven't heard. Netflix got Daredevil. It's part of their new lineup and... reputedly, may be part of the Avengers movie universe. Netflix is producing three mini-series featuring Daredevil, Heroes for Hire (With Power Man and Iron Fist), and the third production, Jessica Jones! They will also feature a mini-series after those three featuring them combined as The Defenders!

I'm really looking forward to these shows.
Actors need to realize that they have short shelf lives. Once they have momentum they need to keep it. Producers have very short memories.

Apparently, the entire movie industry is in a craze about "extended universes" because of the Avengers bursting out with almost two BILLION dollars in sales! Hence Fox wanting to throw their only two properties together in their own extended universe. (X-Men and Fantastic Four) while poor old Sony is stuck with just Spiderman- and yet, they're even considering an extended spiderman universe with Black Cat spinoffs and who knows what else!

I even read an article on Mad Max! They're considering a Mad Max extended universe? Seriously? It's a movie about one man!

As for Captain America taking a break? Certainly. he can hang up his shield for a little while and train rookie SHIELD agents or something, get trapped in the Hel dimension of Asgard or some other story event to take him out of play for a bit.
You could give some thought to rebels hiding in the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter. Maybe their base is on one of Jupiter's moons and they have several forward bases in the main belt as an outer perimeter?

Maybe metahumans are conscripted into a "Justice League" style army against their will?
I don't think there's a need to murder key characters. That's what irritates me about Marvel today. They kill people regularly only to bring them back just as often. There's nothing wrong with retirement, taking some time to teach young superheroes, or ruling the Shi'ar empire, or moving a character onto another team that doesn't get documented on screen. They already retired Iron Man in order to make room for other franchises. He's to continue in other franchises via cameo appearances and supporting roles. Ant-Man is coming! It's the first movie of "Phase 3". They also just signed up the director for the Dr. Strange movie.

Guardians of the Galaxy are mostly unknown so it will be interesting to see how that turns out.
I'm not sure a fully realistic, or "hard science", space war would work in our solar system, not in a heroic fashion. After some thought I figure such a war would be done in a manner similar to the submarines warfare of World War II. Space is vast and ridiculously easy to hide in. Ships would likely have numerous stealth systems to reduce the radar profiles and heat sinks to reduce their thermal signatures. It would be a game of cat and mouse around significant facilities spread throughout the solar system.

Further, if I were to build my own ship for fighting in space it would involve all my weapons systems being satellites. It would ensure that if my weapons, the most likely to be detected via their projectiles being traced back to source, are attacked and not my people. They'd also need no life support systems, radiation shielding or other systems to provide additional mass. The command ship would control these via tight beam laser transmission. Depending on enemy technology I'd probably throw in interceptor and attack fighter craft, mostly for scouting and scout interception, unmanned so that they could do make G-Turns that would turn a human into paste.
...only.. eighty? *gasp* We must rally, rally to occupy all of it!

Occupy Cyanide! Occupy Cyanide! Make Camp!
Well, our heroes could take that wounded woman and her wagon to the Inn to help her recover :)
As Traben's hands moved about Assallya's body, he couldn't help but notice that there was very little of her that he could not see. Her arms and legs were shrouded in a loose black fish-netting sewn into a slender brassiere and a thong. He didn't have to cut away any material, not with her midriff bared. The arrow had impacted only an inch from her navel, a navel with an oval of polished obsidian within. She whimpered as he worked. She was not one for experiencing gratuitous pain. Little did she know that he could simply have cut the arrowhead free with a hot knife instead of pushing it through the other half of her body or she would have been cursing up a storm.

"Oh, set fire to Lolth's webs," Assallya complained, "I am going to partake of the dream weed heavily this eve."

She had a pair of healing potions inside the wagon, but she wasn't going to waste the coin on such. Her ring of regenration would have her healed in a few hours. She may be complaining and whining... but money was money. She could put up with the pain for a short while if she simply had to.

"You have my thanks ranger," she said, gazing up at him with her azure blue eyes from an porcelain skinned face that was far paler than it usually was.

She had kohl brushed eyelids and her eyes were rimmed thickly, making them look larger than they were and her body was covered in inexpensive, flashy, jewelry. A half dozen anklets and bracelets adorned her limbs, as well as a number of rings on fingers and toes. Her hair had been arranged neatly, held in place by lacquered wooden sticks topped with brass spheres but half of it had managed to pull itself loose and had tumbled over one slender shoulder in a disheveled manner that made her look both more attractive and vulnerable simultaneously.
Sealing away a bitter retort at Cassandra's jovial greeting, Assallya did her best to smile and achieved something akin to a lopsided grimace that looked almost alien on her lovely heart shaped face. Pursing her berry stained black lips against the pain she raised one hand with two fingers extended in a loose salute to the young lady magician standing five feet below in her silver white raiment. No, Assallya was definitely not looking forward to shimmying down the brass pole on the side of the vardo.

"I'm good," she replied, fingers curling towards the crooked shaft with the crumpled black raven's feathers. The courtesan suddenly found herself wondering how such a crude shaft could fly true. "Just a little bleeding out. Nothing serious."

Assallya almost chuckled. The rippling of her stomach was pure fire and robbed her of laughter and humour both. Instead all the managed was an anguished groan.

Quickly dispelling the image of the bulette, a rather easy feat considering she was scarcely concentrating upon it anyways, the courtesan looked over the column. Yes, decidedly more professional. More likely a duke or marquis' men rather than the borderlord baron that had sent men to escort the caravan. A shame that. It would have been amusing to see how hero and brigand alike react to the false threat. Still, she would not complain at being rescued, particularly if one of their number was a priest or cleric and willing to mend wounds.

When the archer offered his aid. Assallya was quite relieved and allowed her golden haired head to roll backwards to rest against a sack containing a cheese wheel. She really was hoping that he would climb up atop the vardo.

"Fortunate?" she said to herself.

"By every god of light," she answered him, "I would greatly appreciate your aid."
