Star Wars: Western Frontier

It was about mid-day when Ceva woke up, though ‘regained consciousness’ may have been a more appropriate term. Staring at the ceiling for a moment, she blinked a few times and wondered why things felt ‘off’…then she realized she wasn’t looking at the ceiling of her apartment.

Bit by bit her memory can back to her, piecing together what she’d done. She’d just finished brokering a small arms deal with some low level Crimson Dawn, and had just been paid, so she went out to celebrate. A few drinks led to some dancing, which led to some more drinks and some Slick; that led to her making out with a young Togrutan woman, which then led to the apartment Ceva had just woken up in.

Feeling the weight and warmth beside her, she was tempted to go back to sleep for a bit longer, but decided against it. Slowly extricating herself from the bed, Ceva padded around the room and got dressed. Once fully clothed, and taking a moment to check that she hadn’t lost any smaller items, she slipped into the hallway. Making her way outside, she took a small hit of Slick and lit a Cheroot, blowing a fragrant cloud of pink-ish smoke into the air and she stepped onto Woln’s streets.

Yawning, she rolled a shoulder to try and work out a knot, before looking about to get her bearings before taking off on foot. Should hit a terminal, see what’s up. She thought, heading in the direction of her favorite watering hole. First, breakfast and a drink.

Based off of the renowned DL-44 and built during the Clone Wars, the DD-89 was intended to arm insurrectionists on the colony moon of Zoska, an occupied Republic world deep in CIS space. Capable of downing a B2 in one hit, the DD-89 also had an ‘overcharge’ mode that would allow the user to defeat a Droideka with a couple of solid hits at the cost of extremely high power consumption and significant wear on the blasters internals.

Unfortunately for the Zoska Liberation Front, the weapons only managed to reach significant production at the wars end. Imperial forces took control of Zoska soon after and confiscated all stockpiled arms, but not before at least a thousand DD-89s were sold off-world.

Ceva acquired the DD-89, and the custom vibroblade, as partial payment for her role in the capture of a smuggler how had attempted to double-cross her then employer.

Skills:

• Slicer – Despite a lack of formal education, Ceva has knack for playing with computers. Before circumstances required her to leave, she’d developed a quiet but well regarded reputation.
• Acrobat – Growing up on the streets of Nar’Shaddaa she quickly learned ways to evade those that were larger than her, and how to slip through tight places for her own needs.
• Gunslinger – A blaster is the only thing you can truly count on. Ceva learned this young and took it to heart. Between her own skill and her cybernetics, her blaster is almost an extension of herself in a firefight.

Abilities:
{Force Sensitive} – Though she is unaware of her connection to the Force, it none the less underscores much of her other skills and abilities. She’s always been a little bit quicker on the draw, a bit faster to notice things, stuff like that; just enough to give her an edge.
{Off Hand Targeting} – Thanks to her implants and the sight on her blaster, she doesn’t always need to be able to see her target to hit it. Very useful for firing from cover, or in poor visibility.

Weaknesses:

• Egotistical - Thanks to that edge her Force Sensitive nature give her, she has a tendency to see herself as superior to those around her
• Sociopath – Living neck deep in the violence and crime-riddled cesspit that is Nar’Shaddaa, she has little regard for those that aren’t her.
• Greedy – To be safe you must have power, to get power you need credits; words her lives by.
• Addict – She’s picked up a couple of bad habits over the years; but in reality it’s amazing she’s got so few.

Motivation: To get enough credits to get off Maldra and truly start over…and if there’s time, kill Glordo.

History:
Ceva grew up amid the decaying spires of Nar’Shaddaa, and Nar’Shaddaa is the type of place where you either grow up mean, or you don’t grow up at all. Fortunately, for Ceva at least, she was both mean and smart, so despite finding herself on her own as a child she managed to carve a living for herself out of the rubble.

From roaming with the near feral packs of orphans, urchins and other strays, she quickly found herself moving ‘up’ the criminal hierarchy of the city-moon, either as more powerful ‘bosses’ noticed her…or as she removed competition so they would.
Though she lacked any formal education a succession of bosses realized she was too sharp to be left as an illiterate hooligan, and so over the years, that defect was rectified. Though unaware of her Force Sensitive nature, it still underpinned her natural talents and made her a quick study in most anything she learned.

By her nineteenth birthday she was working for a mid-level Hutt named Rerdogis as an up and coming Lieutenant in his cartel. She ran several small but profitable smuggling operations for Rerdogis across the Outer Rim, offering her services to anyone how interested, as long as Rerdogis got his cut of the action.

That lasted for all of about eight years, before the operations, and the credits she’d personally built up from her own cut of things, all vanished during a bout of instability. During the confusion a rival of Rerdogis’ ambushed the Hutt while he was on his way to a meeting with several of his allies.

With Rerdogis dead, his rival Glordo the Hutt, began cleaning house and Ceva had to run with little more than what she had on her person. Taking passage on a freighter whose captain owed he a favour, she bounced around a bit before winding up on Maldra, once again almost completely broke. So far life on the backwater world has been rather uneventful…aside from being accosted on two separate occasions by a spiced out Twi’lek trying to serve her alimony papers of all things; she’s only been married once and that was under a fake ID…and her ‘husband’ is long dead, of that she is most certain.
