Okay, I kinda shot myself with the foot with that comment. I'll hold on GMing now.
"Intel guy was sloppy as hell." Leo seemed to somewhat grumble. He wasn't going to live down the trapdoor fumble, was he? He looked at the new arrival. It seemed he knew the place a little better than the other girl. He didn't seem one of those combat types. But one couldn't be too wary. Sometimes the most harmless ones hid tremendous psychotic violent jerks. Nevertheless, the way he had chosen to chastise Leo flagged him as someone, at the very least fond of the club and frowning upon needless violence. He seemed alright, for now. One couldn't be too sure.

As the other girl had said, there were no good samaritans left.

Leo appraised his options. The other man had said he had killed a guy. Well, that wasn't the issue here. Had he had gone with his original plan, there could be a significant amount of fallen New Order soldiers. "Any more survivors left?" He finally pieced to ask, tapping the barrel of his rifle with his hand in a show of contained impatience. He then added. "Evac route is to the left, passing the marked sewer exit. The mark itself is for disorienting. Take the next one after."

Time for a little reconaissance Leo breathed deep as he walked towards the door in silence, finger on the trigger and a flashbang in hand. He would need to figure out if there was a cue to intervene or not. Now, Leo wouldn't hesitate to kill if he had to, but he frowned in wantom violence in general. He wouldn't waste time avenging the dead here. Not at least for now. He couldn't turn a rescue operation in an assault to the New Order forces. At least not when he was just a lone individual. He reached the door outside the basement, only to find it to be jammed with a tire iron.

Your skin's really important to yourself huh... Leo wondered, upon seeing that someone else, likely the man, had sealed the exit out in fear. Well, it couldn't be helped. He probably thought everyone was dead. Still, he decided not to remove it, but instead lean against the wall, to try and hear the situation beyond the door.

Retreat, huh. They might've achieved what they've come to do here in first place. Or killed everyone. Damn. He decided to keep a little more at the ready, just in case someone had just been assumed dead. He really wished there was a medic with him now.
Charon made an exercise of self-restraint and balled his fists tightly. The little girl had what she wanted, and in a characteristical display of smugness and a maturity befitting her, proceed to rub her token victory in his face. Just endure it. He bit his lip as she kept on her rant.

And then she stopped, and leaned towards the screen. She made a question. Or was it a taunt? Charon at this point didn't know nor cared to. And yet...So, the Oracle chosen by the Highest claims to don't understand how I work? He paused, deciding to taunt her back or not. In the end, he breathed deep. Well, I should share my experiences with those younger than me. It's what responsible adults do.

"Hum... It's a bit hard to explain if you haven't experienced it first hand." Charles mused, his sight lost in recalling his memories. "It's how would I put it...there's not a single morning I ask myself that question. Wether if it is worth it all or not... All the things I've to do and to endure, with no one else but me putting my life at stake. And yet."

He paused, his voice seemed to trail of before raising again, a deeper tone. "I find myself repeating that stupid poem day after day. It's funny, considering how I learned it." He stopped himself, before changing subject.

"I saw it, Humanity's last stand against the virus. I had a first row ticket to it all. And among all the death and misery, there was this one patient who had died with a beaming smile on his face. Imcomprehensible, right? I searched for the reason why there was such a thing, and his cold dead hand was clutching a book of poems. It was opened in a peculiar one." He cleared his throat and closed his eyes before continuing.

"Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright
Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,
And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way,
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight
Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

And you, my father, there on the sad height,
Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray.
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light."

His eyes reopened, and stared vividly into the camera. Through the camera towards the ten year old girl. "I understood then. Why the man was smiling. It was his last act of defiance. Humanity was full of these people. People who, beyond all reason and expectations, still stood up. Even if they had lost everything." He folded his arms and stretched himself.

"Death eventually comes for us all, girl. No matter age, sex or status. But If my death is certain, I can still choose how I want to go down. And I'll go down with everything I've got and with my boots on, because I won't yield to a fucking Virus, I got my human pride left."
@AtomicNut

O.o No fusion, please, height difference too great!

THEN WE'LL COMBINE

Epic piggyback.
@AtomicNut

Lol! They may end up being forced together before long. =p

WE ARE ALIRON CHALICE!
Well, Alice is rather messed up, too. She'll do almost anything to protect herself.

BEST two people team EVER. If they don't kill eachother they'll likely bond.
I see. Then it seems we've found the right man for the job of killing a little girl. X.X

Did I mention he's Ahab crossed with Gregory House? I bet I did. He cracked. He's partially bonkers, although it's not apparent until you keep pressing his buttons :P
@AtomicNut

I think you are looking for nonexistent loopholes. =p A successful attempt is still an attempt.

It's open to interpretation. Besides he did a wrong phrasing.

And he's bonkers when it comes to virus matters, so he might just don't care when the time comes.
Dead people have no authority, so assassination attempts kind of do count. And unless he's going to accidentally undermine her authority, he needs to try to succeed. =p

Attempt is the key word. If he succeeds, he's fine, cause it wasn't a try but a full blown success. If he had sworn "not to undermine" authority would be a different thing altogether.

Besides "accidents" do happen, right...
@AtomicNut

Even I'm not sure yet! xD

Well, trying is not the same as succeeding. And assasination attempts don't count towards undermining authority...
