*It has a few small ports on it that seem to be electrically destroyed and a wireless transmitter communicating with my phone*

Hm.
*Yells*
How’s it going over there?
<Snipped quote by Audacious>

*The power source seems to be connected to a small computer cluster that uses the antenna configuration to transmit and receive*

*Checks if the computer has any mechanism of interfacing with it*
<Snipped quote by Audacious>

*Starts scrolling with a semi-puzzled expression, and the asteroid itself seems to be wired primarily as a large antenna connected to a meager power source*

*Follows the wiring system to a focal point opposite the power source, trying to find the point where it broadcasts as best I can, taking massive leaps along the way*

I'm—I found an option buried in the settings. It lets us look at logs. I don't know if there's any equipment in this rock that might help us though.

You look at that. Imma do another feel around to see if there’s anything else.
*Kneels and places all of my fingertips against the dust beneath me, sweeping the rock for any more hollow space, or out of place material*
<Snipped quote by Audacious>

*Inhales through my teeth*
You're right!
*Wipes my face with my sleeve*
We can do this!

*Pats your shoulder, smiling*
There you go!
*Turns around and steps into the hole I dug, looking around*
Any other equipment here that might be helpful?
<Snipped quote by Audacious>

Putting me in charge is a huge reason to panic! I—there's no way I can do this!

It wouldn’t have happened if you weren’t capable! He believes you can do it, so you can do it. There’s no time to doubt.
*Tightens my grip on your shoulders*
Head down, one step at a time, remember?
<Snipped quote by Audacious>

I'mpanickingI'mpanickingI'mpanicking—

Hey!
*Puts a hand on each of your shoulders and looks you in the eye*
This is the opposite of a reason to panic. This whole thing was put in place under the absolute confidence you could do it. So you can do it. And if you can do it, we can do it.

If the situation calls for it, you may have one chance to get home. After there's a lack of callback from the intermediate layer, our home world will eventually attempt to access random relays directly to provide a situation update to allies. Unless something has gone horribly wrong, you'll get multiple shots at this, but you have to either find the relay that's being connected to directly, or you need to find a way to trace the signal across multiple hops. More than likely, you'll want a combination of the two. Just be very careful, and use your best judgement. This protocol is a last-resort for when someone other than me needs to step in to protect our world. Otherwise, I'd be happy to let it fade into obscurity.
*Smiles*
Last thing. I love you, please stay safe. You and your mom are my world. Dynamo out.
*The hologram fizzles away*

*Takes a deep breath*

*Rubs my arm*
Man…
<Snipped quote by Audacious>

My head is spinning. This is like a really long, holographic shrug.

I have thoughts but they can wait until the end.

Alright! Glad to see you're hanging in there. You know, it's really hard to pick a tone for this since I don't know what's happened in advance, but let's just hope it's not as bad as it seems.
*The middle ring layer fades out*
If you're getting this message in particular, the relay proxies had their dead man's switch activated. That means they've lost their signal to the middle layer and I haven't had the chance to override them. That or you've found a major bug. If they've lost connection, either our path universes can no longer communicate with the relays, someone has found an exploit in the system, or there are no path universes anymore. Each situation has chilling implications.
*The center of the diagram fades out, leaving just the outermost ring*
This is your current situation. Home isn't reachable. You can use this station to track down more proxies and see if there's a log somewhere that will tell you what's going on. Once you know what the situation is, I'm afraid you're going to need to use your best judgement on how to proceed. I wish I could do more to help you. One more slide is left, so press continue when you've digested all that.

It really is a lot…
