Personality:
Luther is a rather silent man who mostly keeps to himself while giving off a sort of irritated aurar that sometimes causes others to avoid him, but when he does interact with others people are quick to see his laid back demeanor. He can be rather lazy actually and has a few issues falling asleep in odd places. Luther is also quite the fighter and finds himself getting into a few scrapes here and there. It's sort of a natural talent when it comes to fighting and he has come to enjoy it a bit, but he never is the one to start a fight because of what his brother taught him. Luther is also a very determined person, if he sets his eyes on something then he will do all he can to obtain it. He can also be incredibly reckless. Finally Luther is honest person who practically cant tell a lie.

Biography:
Luther grew up with his older brother Ken since their parents had been arrested for suspected murder charges. He was never told anything else, but at this point he doesn't care enough to look into it. So he simply lived with his brother at the age 6 and left the few memories of his folks behind him. Him and his brother lived within a rather poor neighborhood, but they would always manage to get by. Sadly though Luther suffered from a group of bullies that mocked him about his parents. They laughed, spat and pushed him around while stating he'd end up just like them since they had the same blood. This made Luther resent his parents even more and caused him to fall into a state of depression for awhile. Finally though he was pushed to far by the bullies when they had become more violent then usual and drew blood by slamming him into the streets pavement. Dazed and angry Luther stumbled to his feet and finally felt his limit shatter. He threw himself into the bullies and nearly fought them off, but in the end his attempt to defend himself was met with an even worse beating.

He returned home that night, beaten, bloodied and defeated. When his brother saw his condition he was quick to help him get cleaned up while questioning what happened. With shameful teary eyes Luther told him what happened and expressed his frustration with his weakness. As Luther vented out his anger and frustration he finally begged his brother to teach him magic, any kind that would help him grow stronger. Ken was of course hesitant since Luther was only 10 at the time, but he ended up agreeing to teach him something. After a few days Ken decided to teach Luther electric based magic, just like him. He was given a metal staff that was retractable and a few rings to act as his vessels. Luther was taught the basics and Ken thought that it was good to leave it for now since Luther had shown to be a quick learner. When Luther finally learned of a way to defend himself he found it odd that his bullies were no where to be seen. Confused, but happy at the same time he shrugged it off and was just pleased to have some sort of strength now with him.

As the years went on Luther grew up with a bit more confidence, though he continued to avoid people thanks to the unkind experience he had with the bullies of his past. Though with such things happening to him he let it go as he found his laid back and lazy side. Luther has grown to be a decent, quiet person who continues to practice with his magic.


Extra:
Luther is actually a huge basketball lover, it's the only thing to bring him out of his lazy mood.

Mira

Mirabelle Kingston | 19 | Half-Elf

MAGIC

Transformation. Mira is loosely capable of shapeshifting parts of her body: her nails into claws, for example.

PERSONALITY

Mira comes off as rather quiet and serious. Once you get to know her...that doesn't really change. However, she is a woman of action rather than words. She prefers to express her loyalty or friendship physically or through material goods. As a result, she can be rather generous if she warms up to you. On the flip side, those she dislikes get none of the love. Instead, she can be surprisingly snarky and rude if you make a bad impression with her. Mira has a rather dry sense of humor--some would say she doesn't have one at all--and it's difficult to make her smile. Despite coming off as rather introverted, Mira generally craves stimulation from the world around her and falls easily into competitive activities, such as video games and martial arts. In addition, her snarkiness seems to be lost on elven family members, sometimes making her seem meek.

BIOGRAPHY

The Kingston family are renowned for their upholding of the status quo: peace, magical aptitude, philanthropy and charity, politeness, etc. However, Mira is a blight on a pureblood elven family's perfect record. She was born of an affair, her mother merely a human. The Kingstons are rather distasteful of the mixed bloodline, but luckily for Mira, they must maintain their reputation especially now as the world falls into chaos. Mira was raised between the two families, but often made to feel like a stranger among her elven half. Outright abuse is deplorable to the Kingstons, but emotional neglect is a lot more passive.

Among the Kingstons, she grew privileged enough to have access to education in magic. Forever a disappointment to her father and his family, however, she struggled to catch on. Transformation magic came easiest to her--and she still dawdles in it from time to time--but even that proved too difficult for her among the pressure and discontent she felt from her peers and teachers. She was slowly pushed away from formal training in magic.

Needless to say, Mira is happiest at home with her mother. Sometimes she stands out among her human family: she has long and slender limbs, perceptive eyes, and her ears are slightly pointed. But they care for her all the same. School has always been easy for her whether it was upper level physics or a rough PE teacher. Even then, though, she was always chalked up to being the shy kid and generally left alone by her classmates. It seemed to suit her, and she found quiet happiness in hand held video games and other simple distractions.

Since graduating, however, she has felt lost. She works simple jobs and still lives with her mother--occasionally visiting her father's side to maintain appearances. She has a tentative interest in beauty school due to her passion for fun colored hair, and has recently worked up the courage to finally apply.

Rinh

Rinh Fashonti

Magic: In the traditional sense, Rinh's talents lie within the field of Transmutation. Specifically in the breakdown and reapplication of chemicals and elements. Her magic is performed exclusively through a Gauntlet that has been slightly modified to work with her brand of magic. Her Gauntlet breaks down concoctions and items into their chemical components and through the Gauntlet being a catalyst a reaction, or spell, is produced. An example is having vials containing water, fertilizer, and the roots of certain plants would be broken down to their base and when the Gauntlet is used to cause a reaction, fire is produced. It's a bit more complicated as it goes, and she's not nearly at the level where she's truly getting all chemical, but her affinity lies more in line with science than out and out magic.

Given that her magic is based on science and preparation, she tends to carry around vials for chemical combinations that she's familiar with.

Personality: Rinh is rather studious given that so much of her day-to-day activities involve essentially scientific research. She isn't the type to get absorbed in her studies of chemistry and the elements of the world; as she puts it: 'I'm objective, not obsessive'. Rinh takes failure harshly and personally, seeing every failed bit of chemical magic as a mark against her and her eventual reputation. It isn't uncommon for Rinh to fall into a slump after a series of failures, which is when she knows to step away, get outside, and either wait for inspiration or to socialize - whichever happens first. She is friendly enough, though she can be quite long winded and exhausting to talk to once she starts controlling the flow - but to her credit she realizes when she's doing it for the most part.

Biography: The best thing that happened in Rinh's life was being told 'no'. When she asked her parents to teach her about magic, she was met with a firm no which in turn led to her picking up books. The books didn't really help her with any sort of practical application, but it still instilled her with a drive to do more. To become a magician of note. The problem was with her parents, who weren't the biggest fans of magic despite its numerous helpful applications. Rinh didn't question their reasons, nor did she let that stop her.

Her drive was recognized when, after being found reading magic theory books in the attic, her father relented and explained their opposition. Her family had ancestral ties to nonmagical sorts who were involved in the war long before Rinh's time. Those scars ran deep and the dislike of magic was instilled in the family across generations. Old biases. Old wounds. Rinh didn't believe she had to be bound to the scars of a family she would never know while her father explained his own biases, namely how the use of magic drove the decline of natural resources and that magic itself wasn't some infinite possibility. He feared that people relying overly on magic would be like a child in the event of a magical decline.

That conversation was integral to Rinh's development. She understood, mostly, her father's beliefs but promptly disagreed with them. Still undeterred, her parents pooled some resources and gifted Rinh a gauntlet, thinking it was a fair compromise since really what could a Gauntlet do with someone coming from a bloodline of nonmagic sorts? Rinh saw both opportunity and challenge and rather than immediately start casting rudimentary spells she wanted to see how the Gauntlet worked. And how she could make modifications.

Her goal was simple in idea but far from it in reality. She could likely never use 'real' or 'traditional' magic given the bloodline of her family, so she turned to the other great power of the world: science. What was science but magic of the mind and the world around them? Was it not technically magic when water turned to ice?

Rinh brought forth the idea to her parents or really anyone who would listen of challenging the ideas of magic power. Couldn't someone with a Gauntlet be just as powerful, magically, as someone using traditional magic? Everyone she spoke to told her the same thing. No.

And every time it just made Rinh more determined.

Extra: Just a little fun fact but Rinh, when she isn't trying to break things down into elements, is a fairly decent cook.

Another, less fun fact, is that she never travels without a little notebook which contains chemical formula and compounds and is basically her entire magical diary.

Biography:
A grandmother raising a grandchild alone was extremely challenging. You can only imagine how hard it was in a world filled with magic and extreme scientific advances. Charlize's grandmother was a tough parent both in personal strength and her strictness. She felt this new advanced technology use was not to be replaced by a good work ethic or a traditional use of magic. However, when Charlize turned eight years old she humored the young girl and got her, her very first gauntlet. Charlie had been begging for it for years after all, and grandma's were always known for spoiling their grandchildren.

Charlize discovered her favorite use of her gauntlet were during sessions of hide and go seek. Her petite frame didn't take up much space as it was but, when she discovered she could direct light in a way to make her practically invisible- well, the kids didn't really want to play with a 'cheater'.

Charlie ended up getting herself in a lot of the wrong groups when she became a preteen. One group of girls would encourage her to use her gauntlet knowledge to shoplift for them. Soon enough this became her outlet for a good time. That was until she realized that they had been using her and not really had been her friends all along. It gave the girl a bias view on magic, despite it running the world around her.

When the world got turned upside down, Charlize's grandmother went on lock-down mode, removing all signs of frivolous magic that the two had. Though, this definitely did not stop the girl, she began looking into and researching more into the traditional ways of magic. Though she was not prevailing very well in making anything come from it, she felt like she was learning something and that was important.

Name: Walt Grismer

Magic: Enchanting, mostly cast through the gauntlet.

Personality: Walt is pretty optimistic for the most part, he loves the idea of the old west and the gunslinger, not only that but he idolized his father, a police officer in the local precinct, he wanted to be the hero, the man on the front line laying down life and limb to protect the weak, even if he was weakened himself. Walt did have one terrible trait, he is a fighter, growing up in the wrong end of town he had to fight just to keep lunch money or his shoes or what have you.

Walt grew up in the rougher end of town, he spent a lot of days with the frozen peas against his face, especially when it came to talking about the police. Walt's father is a police officer in the city, a detective, and has put many people away, and this made Walt see his dad as the perfect blend of Sherlock Holmes and John Wayne. Evenings after school Walt would get out his toy gun and pretend to play cops and robbers with his brothers, they like to be the robbers so that worked for him, he only ever wanted to be to cop.

Walt received his gauntlet when he was ten, it was awesome, he had magic at his fingertips, and he tried to learn how to use it, but every time he tried a new spell, a new school of magic, he felt like it wasn't working. Flames were showy but useless, energy seemed cool, most of them were neat but when he was approached by a teacher named Nina Sarkarev things worked themselves out.

"You seem unhappy with the options you have, tell me what is it you want to be?" She was pretty and kind, with a voice like honey, she had to be a fairy.

"I just want to be a policeman like my dad, he never uses magic, says he doesn't need it." Walt wanted to have magic, it was so cool to think that he could do the things he saw on television. his family wasn't magically gifted, but he was different, he had the chance to use it.

"Well, maybe you need a tool belt?" The woman smiled, she had a mischievous grin, it took away from that beauty she had, but this sounded good, a way to be flexible and adaptive in the line of duty.

Walt's eyes widened as he thought it over, "How? how can magic give me that?"

"Enchantments of course, I can teach you how to enchant small items with magical properties, they aren't big, but they are versatile. All I ask is a favor of my own, not today but maybe years from now, I may need your help, and with this power you could do it." She had him eating from her hand, no doubt she knew he was going to take it. Take it he did, she taught him to enchant, not a widely used talent, the need of more material made it unsuited for most magicians, but once Walt started to get the hang of it, he could see the possibilities. Walt needed more experience, he needed a new school, one to teach him what Nina hadn't, and Tohru's seemed to be the place.

Extra: The only current items he carried are his sapphire earring that enhances his hearing, and his cap gun which he will enchant each charge as needed.

@Avemelle Here's the old sheet. I'm more than likely going to update it in the next day or so to my new CS layout and the new CS in this thread, but if you could look it over and see what needs to be addressed/changed, that would appreciated. Probably going to rewrite the backstory and what not (but keeping it more or less the same) seeing as I wrote this 10 months ago too.

Theme

Background

For generations, Nakana Maemi's ancestors spent their days farming rice paddies near their quaint country town as their primary source of income. However, since too much or too little rain would always have the possibility of ruining a year's worth of crop (and income), her family turned to realms of magic, specifically nature related magic. If ever a problem arose with their harvest, they would wave their staves and wands and speak a few words as the magic revitalized the fields. The use of magic had eventually increased the yearly harvest total for Maemi's family, and the extra rice grown would be sold to merchants or given away to the poor.

Eventually, a bright-eyed Maemi came along, and her parents began to teach their magic to her so that one day Maemi might take over the harvest. Beginning with weather-beaten patches of brown grass and withered flowers desperate for water, Maemi's understanding of the basics was relatively smooth, excluding the few hiccups that Maemi's parents sorted out. Later throughout her training on a warm yet fateful summer evening, Maemi took notice of a news report about droughts and the decrease of the world's food supply that flashed across the only television in her family's country house. Outraged that such a thing was happening, Maemi had sworn an oath to her parents that she would do something to combat the heat and bring back the beautiful and flourishing nature.

Almost coinciding with Maemi's oath, her invitation to the academy arrived. Knowing that such a prestigious invitation could possibly do wonders for both the farm and Maemi's goal, her parents helped her pack on the condition that she keeps in contact with them on a regular basis.

Magic

Maemi's magic is based around the concept of nature, similar to a druid's magic. While she doesn't have the power, for instance, to summon vicious thorned plants to assault her foes or anything else that requires a grand understanding in the realms of magic, Maemi can resurrect small sections of plant life as long as the plants are minuscule like grass and flowers. She can also change an apple's taste from sweet to sour, and vice versa.

Magical Equipment

Maemi carries around a short wand made of ancient pagoda wood in her hoodie's pockets. A small branch extends from the main shaft, presenting an ever-growing green leaf that is attached to the end of the branch.
