RISING UP TO THE CHALLENGE OF OUR RIVALS!

Bio

This is my second profile on here, and I have been Play-By-Post RPing for about nine years now. I do my best to see every RP to the end or at least let my character come to his/her own dramatic conclusion when I feel like signing off. Just like novel writing in real life, I tend to find myself on long hiatuses. Since writing is a great way to work out your brain, I try stay engaged as much as possible.

My favorite genres include futuristic worlds, mysteries, and super powers. Any mixture of these three elements will peek my interest.

I'm in. I absolutely love the color scheme of the site, of all things. Good choice, seems like a solid place. Awaiting instructions.

Awe! Thanks. I'm still adding content. At this point, anyone can make a character sheet if you like. I'd wait till more content is ready before anyone starts actually posting in character though.
Okay everyone, I have been writing my ass off and have come to a point that I am willing to share what I have done so far. So without further ado, I present to you all the unfinished but nearly there product:

http://fifth-earth.freeforums.net/

And I would like to thank @Celaira for your wonderful suggestions on host providers, but I ended up sticking with what I know.

If anyone encounters a bug of any kind, please bring it to my attention. Minor aesthetic changes are bound to occur over the course of the next few months; please be patient with me in that regard.

I hope you all enjoy what is in store!!

Just a random thought: We will be allowed to master our own RP sessions in this RP? It looks like it's big enough to allow for smaller games to take place in it. If we are, I might get my old group to roll some one shots or shorter story arcs in there.

ABSOLUTELY: This RP will be more like an anthology of stories that all take place on the same planet and at regulated times. As long as you don't god mod another player's character and ask permission before you do anything that would have a global impact, you can do anything you like. Just like the quote in my signature, "Life is but one story told through a seemingly infinite number of perspectives." This RP will embody that idea to the fullest.
I'm working on the RP as we speak. It's already designed, and looking halfway decent. I just need to write some initial content.

I switched shifts with a co-worker tomorrow, so I will be working early in the morning instead of at night. I had planned on finishing most of the content before my shift, but now I will have to finish it afterwards. Due to this, the new expected release time is late tomorrow night.
I have my own question concerning character limits. Are we allowed more than one character at launch? I wouldn't think so, considering the expansiveness of our posts and contributions, but I'm not totally sure. I'm brimming with ideas.

I may place a limit on how many characters one person may have per story, but you are welcome to be a part of as many stories as you feel able. I only ask everyone to not bite off more than you can chew. Remember, this RP is based off monthly periods of activity. Don't be involved in more than one story if you think you're going to be having a busy month IRL. And don't worry if you need to take a month off if you know you're going to be having a particularly busy month.

Good enough for me!

Is there a character sheet or at least some general guidelines? This doesn't look like it's going to be a very restrictive RP character wise, but it never hurts to ask.

OHH! And before I forget: Is there a launch date for the RP so we have something that resambles a deadline to keep track of?

I just woke up because of a long day yesterday. I'm going to put together the site ASAP. I've done these large scale RPs before, so you can expect it up by the end of today or early tomorrow. There you will find the character sheet. Don't worry though, it won't be very restrictive.
So basically humans are found on every continent, but the crystal continent. The natives(Elves, Orcs, Dwarves, etc.) were kicked out of the technology continent which is now populated entirely by humans. The technomagic continent is primarily humans, but has some natives as well, and the magic continent is primarily natives with some humans. The crystal continent is only populated by the hyperhumanoids which are native to the planet, and is visited by everyone else in search of power crystals.

Aside from each group's dispositions due to war and such, if my summary was correct then it makes sense and seems good to me.

Perfect summary. I'm glad you got it.
Everybody, please let me know if anything is unclear in this lore that I just created. I can still modify it as needed.
Okay, let me break it down in better detail. And this is all still able to be changed, but here it is as of now:

Humans travel the cosmos looking to settle new planets when their population grows too much. They live in space ship colonies where they conserve resources by traveling in semiconcious states close to cryogenic sleep.

The planet that this story takes place was already populated by many different species. The dominant species was a very humanoid race of tribesmen that can harmonize directly with the crystal like substance that grows naturally and abundantly on the continent they call home.

All the other continents were inhabited by wild creatures and races coincidentally similar to our folk lore, such as ogres and dragons or elves and fairies.

Long before humans arrived, the other indigenous races would make voyages to the "land of gods". Here the "gods" would bestow them with magical crystals as parting gifts before they would return home. Harnessing these crystals, dormant magical powers could be unlocked.

Humans also took note of this and began making their own voyages, trying to communicate with the almost human looking people, only to find that they are mute and only communicate to one another telepathically. Though they didn't seem to have any problem sharing their abundant crystals which proved to be incredible power sources. Early on it was deemed unwise to try and start conflict with these people as they have unimaginable physical power and show signs of being much more intelligent than they look. Also, why start conflict with people so willing to share.

Early on, humans tried to live peacefully with the indigenous races while still marching on with technical advancements. During this time, they taught the indigenous races the human language (which we will write as English for the sake of this RP).

Unfortunately, the indigenous magical races were not fond of their technological ways for too long and war broke out. Some humans even sided with the indigenous races. Eventually the main group of humans won the war with their advanced weaponry and exiled the traitors and indigenous races.

The victors claimed their land and eventually turned it into the technological mecha that it is today.

That left the defeated humans and indigenous races with a choice. Could they continue to be allies, or should they go their separate ways? Because of this, they split into two groups.

One group, mostly made of humans, decided to go settle the continent that was mostly barren of intelligent life. There they started to build their technological civilization again, but with a deeper respect for the natural environment and a tolerance for magic and nature. The result was the continent that today looks like a slightly more utopian 2016 with slight magical twist.

The second faction of defeated humans and indigenous races agreed on one point, "Technology inevitability brings destruction and must be kept to a minimum." They decide to go to a third continent where indigenous races already reined supreme. Today, this continent is divided up many different ways and resembles the old legends of magic and monsters.

Our story takes place long after the Great war. Everything seems well enough, but it seems as though the crystal people are becoming less generous with their handouts recently, a sign of things to come maybe?

As an update that might effect your character creation. The back story is set one hundred thousand years into the future. The planet is actually the 5th planet that the human race has reached.

The people that live on the neutral continent are natives to this planet and that is why they can harness the power crystals directly.

The different races like elves and such that live on the magic island were actually all over the planet before humans arrived and claimed a continent for themselves, the technology based continent.

I'm thinking that the natives of the neutral continent will look very human like, except that their skin glows relative to how much crystals are close by.
Okay everyone. I've made stand alone RP's before. It won't take me but a day to have this one up. And with the resources @Celaira has sent me, it should look pretty slick too.

Unfortunately, I'm swamped today. But I'm all set to build it tomorrow. Take this time to be thinking of characters that you might want to introduce on launch.

And a little poke to my "Strange World" crew. Hope you guys check this one out too. :)
