Bio

This is my second profile on here, and I have been Play-By-Post RPing for about nine years now. I do my best to see every RP to the end or at least let my character come to his/her own dramatic conclusion when I feel like signing off. Just like novel writing in real life, I tend to find myself on long hiatuses. Since writing is a great way to work out your brain, I try stay engaged as much as possible.

My favorite genres include futuristic worlds, mysteries, and super powers. Any mixture of these three elements will peek my interest.

Middle of the Ocean -> Training Islands

Round 1 of Training... Over.

The last person washed ashore minutes after Jack. The man was a heavy set and in his mid-thirties. He laughed as he rose to his feet. "Oh man! That was fun!" He had done the backstroke the entire way. Occasionally stopping to let the waves pull him along. "Where's the chow? There has to be food here after such a long trip!"

Only nine people made it to the island, including Lazuli, who was clearly there as a trainer, not a someone in training. This meant only eight people had actually passed the first test.

"Very good!" Krillin said, emerging from the shadows of one of the lanterns. "Follow me, everyone! There is a buffet waiting for you!" After five minutes of relative silence, with the fighters struggling to make their legs work, they all arrived at a well lit hut. "This will be your new home. There are ten rooms inside. Since only eight of you made it through the first challenge, everyone should be able to find a room. Also, you will find the kitchen fully stocked with everything you could possibly desire."

Krillin then let out a yawn. "Well! I don't know about you all, but I'm getting tired." He then turned to Lazuli. "Good job little one. Let's go back to the island now."

Nodding in agreement, Lazuli took a few steps toward her great-grandfather. Then, they both bent at the knees, as if they were about to jump. Jump, they did. They jumped high into the sky and flew away.
Hey guys. After an extended hiatus, I'm back and lurking around.

Feel free to jump right back into the water, quite literally actually. Then Angela can join Bakuto on the training island.

Reno continued walking down the rock path. To his right there was a large lake, with different Water Pokemon jumping out of the water and diving back inside. To his left, more Pokemon hid inside of some thick trees, leaping from treetop to treetop and popping in and out of the bushes. As he continued, he saw many more different types of environments: from jagged boulders and soft sand, to a second lake that was frozen over somehow.

The one thing he didn't see, while walking down the path, was the professor. Then, finally, he came across a grassland environment. It must have been the field sector that the assistant was talking about, because at the top of a hill, the professor stood, holding a Chatot on his arm. He seemed to be having a conversation with the little bird. Reno didn't know what he should do: interrupt the Professor's conversation or wait for him to finish.

He didn't have to wait long, as the Professor suddenly turned and looked down the hill at him. He moved his arm and the Chatot flew toward Reno, landing right in front of the boy. "Come on up." the Pokemon chirped "Come on up, new trainer!"

The Chatot then flew back up the hill, returning to the professor's outstretched hand. As Reno walked up the hill, the professor took out a Pokeball and withdrew the Chatot. Once Reno made it to the top, the Professor held out his hand to shake, "I'm Professor Poplar, and you must be Reno, the boy with the perfect score!"

Reno rubbed the back of his head with one hand and shook the professor's hand with the other. "Yeah, I made a few fifty-fifty guesses though, so some of it was luck."

Professor Poplar laughed. "Modest. That's an admirable trait." As soon as he was done laughing he reached inside of his lab coat and pulled out three Pokeballs, still in their shrunken size. "Anywho, this is what you came here for right, your first Pokemon?"

Reno shook his head up and down, trying to contain his excitement to a normal level.

"Well, as I'm sure you know, you will be choosing from three Pokemon. These are Association approved Pokemon that are specifically bred to be starter Pokemon that form lasting attachments to their trainer. And here in Knoxville, these are your choices!" With a flourish of his arm, the three Pokeballs flew out of his hand, grew in size, then emitted a red beam of light. Out of this light three Pokemon emerged. "First, you have Bulbasaur, a popular choice. This Bulbasaur is a happy little lady. I've never seen her without a smile. Next, you have Fennekin, adored by many. This Fennekin is a calm and quiet one. It's really hard to tell what she's thinking. And finally, we have a rambunctious little Totodile. This little boy likes to live this life out loud. He bit me once, but he didn't mean to, we were just playing. He felt bad about it for hours... So, with all that said, what do you think?"

Reno looked at the three Pokemon with a heavy heart. He knew this was one of the most important decisions he would ever make. After an entire minute of silence, he bent down in front of the Fennekin. "Hey there." He said, sure to speak softly. "You wanna go on an adventure?"
So seeing that it's set 100 years from now, would getting from one side of the world to the other be pretty quick?

Absolutely. In fact, I covered that in another OOC post.

...
Just so you know however. Trainers have access to free hi-speed jets that can take them to and from pretty much any major city. These jets are capable of circling the equator in 20 hours. Which means a trip to the other side of the world would only take 10 hours. And once there, trainers have free access to flying bikes/cars.

So in other words, if you start somewhere and want to write up a reason to go to a different place, to "accidentally" or purposefully meet up with other trainers, you can do that. Even from the opposite side of the planet, you could potentially do this in less than 12 in-game hours.
...

I'll add this information to the opening OOC post.
It looks like "Sea Quest Littleton" or the "Denver Zoo" would be the locations of the closest labs. Either way, the starter Pokemon there would be: Snivy, Tepig, or Popplio

And Pokemon in the greater area would include: Sudowoodo, Tropius, Jigglypuff, Diglett, Tauros, Misdreavus, Dunsparce, Shinx, Patrat, Sandile, Tirtouga, Bouffalant, Rufflet, Hawlucha
Could i join?

Absolutely. Here's the link to the actual RP thread:

Reno sat at the computer, in a small room, with three others. Nervously wondering if he had messed anything up, second guessing some of his answers. If he had to retake this test, he would have to save up all over again. One of the others in the room said he was on his eighth attempt. He had tried seven years in a row, and here he was again, giving it another go. Honestly, Reno respected the 38 year old boy's tenacity.

Taking a deep breath, Reno submitted his test...

He then stood up and left the room, as instructed before the exam began. Outside the door, down the end of a long hall, he could see the front desk. That was where he signed in. It was also where he would be getting his test results. It was only twenty yards away to be honest, but it might has well been a mile. The muffled sound of his footsteps down the empty hallway sounded so loud to his ears.

The green haired lady at the desk smiled up at him, "Reno Kelly, right?"

"That's me." Reno answered, attempting to return her smile.

"Right." She beamed back. "Well, let's see." The smile fell off her face, followed by a long silence that lasted a life time. "I've never..." She stammered. "I've never seen a perfect score before."

It took a second for the lady's statement to register. Then it hit him. He'd passed! All these years of studying paid off! He passed!

The smile returned to woman's face, even wider than before, truly genuine. "Please, please. Go through that door right there." She motioned toward a glass sliding door. It led out to the zoo part of this lab. "You'll find the professor out there. I think he's in the field sector, taking care of a newly transferred Pansage. I'll let him know your on your way. I'm sure he'll be excited to meet you."

"Thank you." Reno answered, still in partial shock. He didn't know if he wanted to scream out in joy, laugh, or pass out. They were all equally valid options. Instead, he waved goodbye to the beautiful green haired woman, and went to the doors. They opened automatically as he approached. A Pidgeot flew past his head, just as he walked through the door. He'd never been that close to a Pidgeot before. In the wild, they usually kept their distance.
Awesome. Might hold off a bit to decide where to start. Want to see which location would be closer to the rest of the group

If that's what you want to do, feel free. Just so you know however. Trainers have access to free hi-speed jets that can take them to and from pretty much any major city. These jets are capable of circling the equator in 20 hours. Which means a trip to the other side of the world would only take 10 hours. And once there, trainers have free access to flying bikes/cars.

As for me, I'm going to go ahead and get started. :)
Name: Reno Kelly
Home: Eastern Tennessee
Age: 35 (looks 13)
Appearance: Reno looks a little older than he should, and that is because of how much he works. He often forgets to drink enough water while working and can accidentally become dehydrated.

Personality: Reno is a friendly soul, who can talk to almost anyone. At the same time however, he doesn't allow others to get too close to him, a true recluse at heart.

Biography: Reno was born and raised in the Appalachian Mountains, in Tennessee. The younger of two children, he would have grown up spoiled if his parents had the money to spoil him. They however, were middle-lower class workers. They provided him and his older sister with all the necessities, but they never had the latest and greatest anything.

Growing up, Reno dreamed of becoming a Pokemon trainer, as most kids do. Of course, like everything else in this world, entry into the trainer program costs money. To be more specific, the written exam costed an arm and a leg. It was the Pokemon Association's way of making sure all that applied were serious about their entry, or so they said.

In any case, Reno had to start working, at the age of 21, the earliest kids are allowed to get a part time job. He took on every odd job he could. Maintenance jobs were the most common, because as everyone knows, while robots do most of the world's manual labor, even they are subject to wear and tear. And while they can usually fix themselves or be fixed by other robots, sometimes the issue would be outside their parameters. It helped that his father was a maintenance technician by trade. He could always call if he couldn't figure out an issue.

Now his 35th birthday, Reno has finally saved up enough money to take the exam. Hopping on his hover bike, he waves goodbye to his mom and dad, headed for Knoxville, TN. There, at the local lab, he will take the exam, and he will pass. That's what he keeps telling himself at least!

Side Note: You only have to be 30 to become a trainer (usually looking around 10 years old). This character just had troubles coming up with the funds to take the Pokemon Trainer exam.

Party Pokemon:
  • Fennekin ♀ Lv 5
@BladeSS4

No giant rush or anything amigo. Just letting you know, you're up to bat. Feel free to skip to Bakuto's tired arrival at the training island.
