Bio

This is my second profile on here, and I have been Play-By-Post RPing for about nine years now. I do my best to see every RP to the end or at least let my character come to his/her own dramatic conclusion when I feel like signing off. Just like novel writing in real life, I tend to find myself on long hiatuses. Since writing is a great way to work out your brain, I try stay engaged as much as possible.

My favorite genres include futuristic worlds, mysteries, and super powers. Any mixture of these three elements will peek my interest.

Yes, I think I will, with the character I currently have in mind it would definetely put me in the SWT. And yes I would like to be a crystalkeeper too.

Sounds good. Green crystal is now reserved.
I know I am making a posh/nobility type of character so pride would fit rather well.

So are you saying you want the green crystal? That would put your character in the Soaring Wing Tribe.
I would like a blue crystal and a hundred gill mermaid please.

Gotcha. Gotcha.

It's mainly the existence of these stones that is similar, the world in that story is medieval/high-fantasy, not sci-fi.

Very cool. Very cool.

Ngl, I’m tempted to reserve the orange crystal. I’m good at making cheerful but a little bit stupid characters xD

Consider it tentatively yours.

I just wonder how powerful regular characters can get. Is there some kind of system in place for these characters to power-up, is it left to us to make it up as we go along, or will regular characters become lackeys of the crystal bearers?

Normal characters will be able to become very powerful in their own right, as powerful as most fantasy characters. But whatever your base power level is, imagine that, times 10, if you have a crystal, plus limitless stamina. The stones do not make you invincible however. A coordinated effort by a strong group of normies could defeat a crystal holder.
This seems interesting. I can't help but draw similarities between this and the Choice of Games story named "The Soul Stone War".

Interesting. I'll Google it when I get home from work. Never heard of that before. I appreciate your interest. 🙂
What and where are the crystals?

Nobody knows the origin of the six crystals. As far as anyone can tell, they have been on this planet for as long as the planet existed, passed from one owner to the next. Each crystal gives off a unique color, and each one taps into a different emotion within its user. It both feeds off that emotion and makes it stronger at the same time. The end result, however, is the same... great magical power, enough to power a small city or to make one warrior dominate a battlefield.

  • The Yellow Crystal: Currently under Sutisu control, this crystal taps into its user's sense of righteousness and order. This also can lead to the fear of chaos.
  • The Violet Crystal: Currently under Riotifu control, this crystal taps into its user's deepest emotions toward those closest to them, both love and hate.
  • The Red Crystal: Currently held by the Burning Heart Tribe, this crystal taps into its user's passion, especially towards family and close friends, which breads both excitement and anger.
  • The Green Crystal: Currently held by the Soaring Wing Tribe, this crystal taps into its user's pride, which can lead to greatness or envy.
  • The Blue Crystal: Whereabouts unknown, this crystal taps into its user's introspective nature. It is attracted to those with great self confidence as well as those who are overly self critical.
  • The Orange Crystal: Whereabouts unknown, this crystal taps into its user's friendliness. Its users are typically happy and inviting, yet sometimes foolish and gullible.
Where are all the elves?

Everyone knows elves exist, but not everyone has met one. Even if you have met one, you probably didn't even know it. In this world, there are many elf villages, but every one of them is hidden by magic and, more often than not, difficult terrain. Even an elf from one village wouldn't know how to find another elf's village, unless they had already been there before.

The nine elf villages we are about to go over, are known to you, the player. However, unless your character is an elf, they wouldn't know about most of these elf villages, especially their location. Even if your character is an elf, that is no guarantee they know all the other elf villages or their locations. In order of continental location...

  • The Thicket Elves live deep in the western forests of the Sutisu continent. They specialize in plant magic and speaking with animals (non-beast-folk).
  • The Cliff Elves live in the northeast mountains of the Sutisu continent. They specialize in storm magic: manipulating winds, controlling lighting, and summoning rain.
  • The Swamp Elves live in the southwest marshlands of the Riotifu continent. They specialize in poisons and water manipulation magic.
  • The City Elves live in one of the large cities of the Riotifu continent. They specialize in illusion magic, which helps them blend in with the humans.
  • The Cave Elves live deep within the western mountains of the Mutrenu continent. They specialize in earth/rock magic as well as shadow magic.
  • The Desert Elves live in the southeast deserts of the Mutrenu continent. They specialize in earth/sand magic and pure sun/star magic.
  • The Island Elves live somewhere within the islands to the west of the Mutrenu continent. They specialize in water and wind magic. They are the only elf village that welcomes human visitors as guests.
  • The Volcano Elves live far to the east on the world map on a volcanic island. They specialize in all four, core nature magics: fire, water, wind, and earth.
  • The Waterfall Elves live somewhere within the islands that sit between all three continents. They specialize in water and wind magic, like the Island Elves. However, they are hostile and have been called the ghost pirates of the sea, for the way the summon fog around their victims before attacking.

I'll go ahead and tentatively reserve the violet crystal for you, Sanity.

And I'll dive more into the crystals later, but here's a quick overview. The crystals all provide ridiculous amounts of raw magical energy, as for what your character does with that power will all be up to you.

The difference in each crystal actually comes from emotion. The violet crystal is attracted to or can be claimed by someone who has deep connections with the people closest to them. On one side of that scale, we have love. On the other side of that scale, we have hate. To claim the violet crystal you must either live your life with constant love and/or hate in your heart, or you must have been going through a particularly traumatic experience involving one of the two.

Once a crystal is bonded to someone, it amplifies these emotional qualities within it's user. This is only common knowledge amongst former crystal bearers, and it may take a few days or even weeks or months to realize it is affecting you in this way.
Feel free to change the looks. Those outfit examples are just general examples for the humans anywho.
Let's continue.

There are six well known tribes of beast-folk.

The first, and most feared, are known as the Burning Heart Tribe. They are the predators, lions and tigers and bears, oh my! They live within the jungles, between the Sutisu and Riotifu nations. Their alliance constantly switches between the two waring nations.

The second, and most revered, are called the Soaring Wing Tribe. They are opportunists, ready to swoop down at a moments notice to claim what is rightfully theirs. Their home is on an island to the south of the Sutisu and Riotifu nations, but they are frequently seen upon land.

Then you will find the Poison Fang Tribe, comprised of reptilian creatures of all kinds: snake-men, crocodile-men, and more. They live within the southern reaches of the Sutisu and Riotifu continents, where they fight endlessly for their survival.

To the south, you will find the Loyal Tails Tribe. Living amongst the Mutrenu peoples, these cat-men, dog-men, rat-men, and so on live amongst their human overloads. In exchange for their servitude, they are granted freedoms and comforts unknown to those who resist.

Then you have the Giant Foot Tribe, which exists primarily on the fourth, albeit smallest continent on the planet. These large herbivores are happy to stay neutral, away from the wars of mankind.

Finally, there is the Hundred Gills Tribe. By far the largest tribe of all beast-folk, these mercreatures inhabit all the underwater realms of the planet. They are a most valuable asset to their human allies, delivering information and supplies. They can be found dealing with any one of the three nations of humans, at any given time.

More on the elves to come...
