Bio

I am a Roleplayer with an interest in science fiction and fantasy, with a preference for Casual. I have been roleplaying for several years, and have even taken a stab at running a few RPs.

Outside the Guild, I am an Australian science student, gamer, musician and roleplayer (that's right, IRL too).

Meanwhile I'm still on the side of, "Forget about Earth's human precedence and do cool stuff with godly powers."

I've been doing that a lot too. Why do you think I'm still doing Stone Age projects despite being the God of Civilisation?
Look at everyone talking about their armies of tens of thousands and vast Bronze Age nations while I'm sitting around working on a Stone Age semi-nomadic hunter gatherer village of 14 adults (15 if you count Gerrik).

I'll catch up some day.
@Double Capybara, and here I was thinking my uni's campus was big.
Brilliant

Tauga has two cows and the hung body of their former owner.

Sorry to grammar, but I think the word you want is 'hanged'.
@BBeast

How long did you spend making that! Good lord man, are you made of math?!

That's nothing. That was some basic logarithm algebra. The formatting took longer than the actual maths. By contrast, I spent over two hours yesterday calculating and rechecking nasty integrals for a quantum physics assignment.
@BBeast Is this true?!!

If it is, I can't believe I've gone my whole life without this critical moooothematical truth.

The left hand side evaluates to
logmoo(CowA)+logmoo(CowB)=logmoo(CowA*CowB).

I can change the base of the right hand side to be the same base as the left hand side. I get
log2Cow(Moo)=logmoo(2Cow)/logmoo(Moo).

If we assume that moo=Moo, then it simplifies to
log2Cow(Moo)=logmoo(2Cow).

From inspection, we can see that your equation is only true if 2Cow=CowA*CowB. This is probably not the case, unless one of the cows is equal to 2. Unless cows are dimensionless, then this 'rule' fails to hold up to dimensional analysis.

I would recommend the amendment that, instead of 2Cow, you use Cow2. This then comes with the requirement that CowA*CowB=Cow2. This is trivially true for the case CowA=CowB, but is true in other cases too. And units are preserved.

Though it isn't canonized in the context of this refrigeration, realism with that sort of thing can be thrown out the window with the simple explanation of, "The djinn down there keep it cold." If we want crazy -150 degree weather we can have it.

On that topic, I think it's important to note that natural disasters are 100% controlled by djinn and not mundane geological processes as on Earth. Even things like the wind are largely controlled by the whimsy of djinn rather than heat/pressure differentials. I like this because it allows for these spectacular and magical violations of physics environments. And it keeps that fantasy feel to the RP.

Alright, so theoretically we could have -130C weather (or colder) on Galbar, due solely to the influence of the Djinni.

The trouble is, the North pole is inhabited with all of Kho's trees and bears and undead, and the South pole was recently melted and is now home to the dwarves. -130C weather would outright kill any fleshy being unless it was absurdly specialised. I see no place in the natural order maintained by the djinn for such ridiculous and inhospitable temperatures, at least not outside tiny, localised pockets of sheer cold. But just as we wouldn't count an erupting volcano towards Galbar's maximum surface temperature, I wouldn't count localised, magically produced pockets of sheer cold towards Galbar's minimum surface temperature.
(Correction to my previous post. Coldest temperature ever recorded on Earth was -89.2C, which is closer to -90 degrees than -80.)

@Kho I'm aware of the extreme seasons of Galbar. That is why I haven't commented on the upper temperature. However, I can tell you that refrigeration is much harder than heating. A lowermost extreme of -100 degrees Celsius is more reasonable.
@Kho, looking at the page for Galbar, I noticed something about the temperatures.

Where on Galbar is it -130 degrees Celsius? The coldest temperature recorded on Earth is about -80 -90 degrees. Galbar may have some wild temperature swings, but 50 40 degrees of extra cooling is really hard to do. The top of Mount Bormahven would be around -60 degrees, based on Earth's atmospheric temperature profile.
@Kho I'm sorry, I can't hear you over my STABLE ruling dynasties! Get it? Because...horses and stables...and Mongolia...fell apart...eh...

@BBeast Every one of these sciencey posts makes me incredibly grateful that I took high school sciences up to year 12 and Elec-Engineering 101. The only thing I had to look up was 'birefringent'.

If I remember right, Teknall effectively gave divine life to Kinesis and Conata when he added that ichor. Does this mean that Goliath is going to join the Robots with Feelings (RwF) club when he uses that Sunny-Dee o' Self-Repair?

The ichor given to Conata and Kinesis was raw. This stuff has been carefully measured out into an alchemical potion and thoroughly processed. 'Blood of a craft god' makes a brilliant alchemical ingredient when creating a potion which fixes machines. It was effectively a way to expend Might on a potion, directly imbuing it with Crafting powers. I had no intention of accidentally granting Goliath sentience.
Look at Mutton giving me all the good ideas
I have an unrelated planned addition to the RwF club, although that may be quite a while away.
