Vlad had had the idea that, after cutting the leg of the Nevermore away, he would use his weapons to grapple and climb his way up its body, then use Maw to hack at its wing until something was severed, dislocated, or otherwise damaged in a way that was irreparable, at least in the short term. A grounded Nevermore, after all, is a far less dangerous opponent, especially with one and a half missing feet.

He had had that idea, but it had gone off the rails the moment this Rood figure decided to use his arm as a rope swing. It seemed Rood's Semblance involved something along the lines of "cut through just about anything", given that Rood had done in one strike what it would have taken Vlad several more to finish off. Not that he was complaining - apparently, shooting the thing in the neck with a weapon oddly similar to Vlad's own was just as effective as hacking at its wings - but it did come with the slight disadvantage that both humans were now spiralling through the air, somewhat out of control, in spite of their respective grapples.

No matter, though. So far as Vlad could see, they were both still gripping on to one another's forearms, and as it happened, his gun hadn't been torn from his hand. Resetting its grapple and looking to see where they were headed, he aimed Breath, opened its beartrap up, and fired it, the device latching on to a tree branch as it had before, not doing much to halt their descent before the grapple began to retract, dragging them both toward the branch. Shortly, after a few moments of swinging over and round repeatedly until their momentum expired, Vlad found himself holding on to the branch by Breath's grapple, some twenty or thirty feet from the ground, with Rood's own weight hanging off of him to boot. And of course, the majority of the grapple's metallic rope was now wrapped round the branch. Oh, what a joy unwinding that was going to be.

"Well, Rood," Vlad started dismissively, looking down to assess the drop, "you did a fine job of declawing that giant bastard. Taking it out of the sky, not so much. Now, how do you feel about going down there and finishing it off?" He looked to Rood for an answer, the prior grin starting to return as he relished the thought of a halfway-challenging fight, even if it was with a crippled opponent.

@Jbcool I'm honestly curious to see how you intend to turn "philosophical warrior-monk with a Zen outlook and an incredible sense of honour" into a Chaos-aligned character, which tend to not be any of those things. It'll be intriguing, to say the least.

@Jbcool Given that Erebus somehow shoved a Daemon into a blank, anything goes at this point. Also all of the Grey Knights are psykers, unless I overlooked a detail like they take their recruits from black ships or something

Let me just clarify: there isn't any realistic way for the Imperium to deliberately turn normal humans into psykers, and even if they could, doing so could well be a death sentence for the altered human in question, who has literally no context for control of the ability at that stage, and possibly the planet they're on as a result. And yes, I believe the Grey Knights do draw recruits from the Black Ships, though they also don't exist as of the end of the Great Crusade in canon.

@Jbcool Very interesting setup. As for deliberately converting somebody into a psyker, I don't know of any way to achieve that effect beyond worshipping Tzeentch and hoping he mutates you into one - which is guaranteed to end badly, of course - but it's possible for psykers who can control their powers (Iota level and above, which marks the bearer as a "true" psyker by Imperial standards) to improve them with practice, as well as for psychic ability to atrophy with lack of use. Omicron through Kappa designations indicate minor psionic ability, but people at these levels don't have any particular conscious control over their powers, and can't really train them to manifest accordingly. In short, you need to have it to get more of it, and as a normal human, you don't necessarily want more of it in the first place.

@Jbcool Seems legit. Actually, that brings up a good point: if the Librarians of the Sons of the Storm are basically their leadership, does that mean that the Legion specifically picks psykers to convert into Marines for the purposes of leadership? Because no normal human soul is going to end up becoming a psyker without some special method of conversion, even if the human's body has been modified with gene-seed organs.

@agentmanatee Looks good. However, I need to point out that Chaplains don't really exist in the time of the Great Crusade, and particularly not in this version of events during the Grim Crusade. This is actually important for everybody to note, since the topic's been brought up: Chaplains were specifically an invention of the Word Bearers Legion, after the Council of Nikaea's decree that Librarians were to be removed from the Legions led Malcador to look to Lorgar and his Legion for guidance, thus resulting in the Order of Observance. Librarians haven't been removed from the Legions in this timeline, nor does a fundamentally religious Legion actually exist from which inspiration needs to be drawn (the closest thing to that probably being the Librarius of the Sons of the Storm), so at the moment, the Order of Observance is most likely non-existent for the purposes of this game.

@agentmanatee Excellent. Don't forget to modify Mon-Kal's biography to account for Mephisto being able to become a full-blown Space Marine. You also need to add in his Assignment level to his Skills, as has been stated previously.

@Roosan In addition to this, your character's psychic Assignment Level needs to be listed in their Skills. Repeat: your character's psychic Assignment level needs to be listed in their Skills. This bears repeating, several times if need be.
