Guys I'm still around! I'll get a post up soon!
Now I'm watching a lot of this "Vietnam in HD" because it's a lot of raw footage. This really was the first war where we had a lot of it.

I still recommend "About Face" as a really nitty-gritty combat memoir though. Hackworth retired with a fuckton of purple hearts and silver stars.

I really liked how they had actors recreate the veteran's voiceovers. It was a really nice touch!
Daniel eventually finished scrounging through for supplies and ammo, having enough to kill a good amount of Charlie but not enough for him to be slow enough to be consumed by them. He considered it to be a good balance - and he figured he would give the sons-of-bitches a taste of their own weapons. A 7.62 round meant to kill Americans now turning against him? That was poetic justice, if you asked him. Charlie deserved no rest, no relent. Every single one of these people deserved to die. Ten Charlie for every American killed by their hands, it was a pretty good tradeoff for him.

It looked like Daniel had some shooting to do, as his heart sank to his feet upon hearing about Doc's death. He turned around and saw an American body. A clean shot through the head, instant death. He didn't bother scrounging through his body, he had a lot and decided to leave Doc for the others. Before long though, they had to get back into formation, with him taking the rear with Dodge and the new guy. He started walking with the others, making sure he had the rear secure and no Charlie could get a jump on him. Nobody would want that sort of thing at all, absolutely not. The story about the women here in Vietnam was rather humorous, Daniel had heard about stories like that all the time, but he didn't want any of that for himself. Absolutely not. He had a wife he was committed to, and not an entire ocean could break his commitment to his wife.

I'll get a post up tomorrow! I'm not gone, guys!
Buuump.
Daniel stuck close behind his local first sergeant, making sure he was close to cover and not out in the open where Charlie could easily tear him apart. They had to be quick, without attracting attention towards them. The element of surprise is what really drove the dagger into Charlie - no matter the firepower they had, nobody could prepare for the sudden onslaught of bullets. Nobody had the reaction time to react to such a thing, which was why it was practically shock and awe. The Charlie had it coming to them - and Daniel was eager to squeeze a magazine into a bunch of Charlie.

After they moved close to the enemy, their sergeant took a moment to dictate what exactly the plan. The good thing was that the full-auto feature could finally be used on the M16A1 - the bad thing was that they couldn't really go willy-nilly. Now that he thought about the situation, it wasn't really that bad of a thing. Ammo was important, so being reckless was frowned upon. As soon as the gunner let loose and ripped apart a bunch of tangos with his machine gun, Daniel rose up from his position and proceeded to put 3-5 rounds of 5.56mm into every enemy he saw. The ensuing gunfire was deafening, but all he could see were Charlie dying and nobody around him falling. This was definitely a well executed tactic.

As the order to cease fire was given, Daniel put down his rifle, and all he could see were a bunch of dead soldiers. Daniel exhaled as he proceeded toward them, reloading his M16A1 in the process. He was running low on magazines for the weapon, which meant he had to find a replacement weapon, fast. An AK would've done very well, and thus he stripped one from a fallen soldier, taking as many magazines as he could from them and stuffing them into his pouches. "Load up, guys! These AKs will last us a while!" He shouted, gesturing to a couple near his location.
Regina noted that she was due for her pit stop during the next lap. She cursed mentally, knowing the lead she was holding would be pretty much gone as she went in the pit stop. Hopefully Muller would have to pit soon as well, otherwise Ryan would have one hell of a time trying to get back the lead that Gina had to give up. She knew that the first few moments with Ryan back in the race would be hell, since he had to deal with the annoyance of having to get his tires warmed up again. His car wouldn't be at a 100% until those tires were warm. Gina continued to lead on Muller, seeing the lights of his Z4 in her own rearview mirror. She could feel the pressure bearing down on her, which had her sweating like mad. Gina's grip on her steering wheel tightened a bit on the straights, trying to hold the R8's horsepower down.

A long time behind the wheel and a pit change later, the race was coming to a close very, very soon. Maybe five minutes or so? Gina honestly lost track of the time, she had much more important things to be worrying about. She did not want Muller to win this race, not while Ryan and Gina were on his rear bumper. Not today, not ever. Regina had held 3rd place very well, sticking behind Ryan as he tried to attack and put pressure on Muller. Ryan was definitely turning up the aggression, and it was definitely affecting Muller. His tires were slipping, and the pressure from both Ryan and Gina would wear him down faster than anyone else on this track. This was a good thing, pressure was something the both of them were good at. Gina stayed behind Ryan's bumper as close as she could, careful to not accidentally bump him and screw up their chances at a 1,2 finish. The clock ticked towards four and a half minutes left, and every second felt like a millennium as Gina and Ryan continued their attack on Muller.
Daniel maintained his position, squeezing off shots wherever he could at any Charlie he could see. These sons of bitches sure were everywhere, but they were going down faster than one could blink. The M60 definitely did a good job at suppressing these guys, which took a load of pressure off of everyone else squeezing off shots one-by-one from their M16s. It also definitely did people favors, if one of them jammed (which they inevitably will), they had time to clear the issue. The Sergeant had already situated himself behind a log, which was plenty good cover, considering it was about 3 feet thick. While everyone else was busy firing away, Daniel was simply popping controlled shots at anyone he could see. With every few shots he could see some Charlie fall. However, he didn't know if that was him, but he was damn sure he was at least contributing. The steady popping from his M16 allowed him to get into a rhythm, being able to recognize a target and firing on them almost immediately. It was pretty nice, knowing that they actually were holding off this swarm of Vietcong.

Before long though, he could hear First Sergeant Davis dishing out orders. As he dictated who did what, Daniel maintained a mental list and keeping track of who went where. As he heard his name called out, he looked over to where Davis was. He turned back to the firefight going on in front of him. He squeezed off a few more shots before backing away from his spot, moving over to where their leader was. He was ready to execute a flanking maneuver, eager to end this firefight as soon as possible.
I'll get a post up soon, guys!

Congrats to @RoadRash for Co-GM! :D

Also... how would I integrate my upcoming interpreter character? Obviously he's not exactly going to be with the squad during the beginning.
I'll try to get a CS up soon!
