Why?

A day or two ago I was outside swinging a lightsabre around when I saw my shadow mimicking my every movement, I understand that they are just a lack of light, but when you focus on them, they seem to be more when I jump, my shadow jumps, when I raise my right hand, my shadow raises it's right hand, when I go somewhere where light can't reach, the shadow disappears as if it were escorting us to there own domain, but when I renter the light, the shadow follows, so I ask you all this.

Why do our shadows follow us until we enter there home but leave its safety to literally shadow us until we die, when they simply mimic our our position when we lay dead, why do they seem to be nothing but a black shape when we must look the same to them?

If anything, we should thank our shadows, they are always there when we are sad, angry or upset, they are there to mimic us and put themselves in the same pain just to feel the same as us, they never leave our side and even lie the way we lie when we are dead, So in a way, our shadows are that imaginary friend we all had in our childhood, they are the one of the friends we say we never had, they are our umbral friends, and we should thank them for being by our sides even in death.

The things he can do are no more dependent on the lights absence than his limits

Ex:(things listed are not all he can do, these are just umbrella terms)

Dawn-Day(umbral strength:Weak)
He could fire shadow bullet
Make darkness
Construct small things from shadow

Dusk(umbral strength:moderate)
He could create make normal sised objects/weapons
Fly

Nightfall(umbral strength:Full power)
He can do all of the above but much easier/stronger
He can create nonsentient allies
Make virtually anything he wishes
He can create sentient animals(not allies, this concerns things like riding horses, shadow Phoenix's or anything rideable)

Basically the light is a universal hindrance for his power, the sunlight is the biggest hindrance that is able to exist, artificial light such as flashlights or lamps, depending on their brightness would also be weaknesses, UV light is a grey area for this weakness, it is somewhere within the boundaries of the sunlight and an especially bright floodlight.
